There was nothing like McDonalds to really bring the day together. Rui knew it wasn’t healthy food, but she didn’t really care because of her strong healing factor. McDonalds was tasty food and that was all that mattered. The only thing that could make the restaurant better as a whole was if she could order beer with her burger and fries, but not every place could be perfect. Not until Rui seized the throne and became Prime Minister of Japan so that she could mandate that all McDonalds establishments were to start selling alcohol.

A plan for another day. For now, the short villain would settle for queuing up as she thought about what being the leader of a cult might be like. She didn’t even need to think about her order, she already knew it by heart.

“Happy Meal!” She commanded, throwing a handful of yen on the counter for the employee to manually count.

“Miss you don’t have enough for the fries, but we can make it a meal without fries-”

“With fries!” She huffed, putting her hands on her hips. “It’s not a meal without fries!”

“..You don’t have enough, do you have more money on you?”

Suddenly, Rui pulled out a gun and pointed it at him. An obviously fake toy gun and anyone could tell at a glance. “Fries now!” She shouted, insisting on getting louder and causing a scene. “Little Miss.” The man chuckled awkwardly. They were at a standstill.

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Before some of the most recent stressors in her life started to take place, Jun for once decided to take a day off. Like, an actual day for herself. Light homework, light training, light everything. Did she think she deserved it? Heck no she didn't. But burnout was something she was trying to avoid again, and going hard like before would only lead to further injuries. Besides, she needed a way to keep the school nurse off of her back. As she waited in line behind someone that seemed familiar, she started to run through in her head what all she needed to get done at school. Assignments, chapters to study, that sort of thing. It wasn't until the voices started to raise and the gun was pulled that she snapped out of her little world. Initially, she thought this girl was the real thing, and one of her rings began to glow as she contemplated the best way to take out the gun. However, after a moment or so of study she realized that the gun was actually plastic; she had seen guns in the past, and this one didn't have the same characteristics that one did. At least...she didn't think so. She'd step to the side and get a better look...yeah, the muzzle was off. In fact, she thinks she saw this exact type when she went shopping with her cousins the last time she was home. This was modified a little bit, the biggest giveaway was the orange piece at the muzzle was removed. The silhouette remained the same so anyone in high pressure not looking at it directly wouldn't notice, but Jun? As high strung as she was, when it came to situations like this things seemed to slow down for her. And so Jun would do what she did best: meddle in the affairs of others. "Excuse me, this isn't funny," she says, reaching up to press two fingers on the top of Rui's 'gun' and push it down. "Violent crimes happen all the time, and doing something like this can only end badly for both you and whoever else is around you...especially with a fake gun like this." Jun took one look at the would-be criminal, and determined that maybe this girl was doing this out of desperation. Maybe that whole persona was an act in order to get her way. After all, this girl looked to be nothing more than skin and bones, so maybe she was doing petty things like this because she was starving. Turning to the clerk, she'd give the best confident smile she could muster. "I can cover for her, if that's alright. I already know what I want." Rui Matsui

Day ruined.

Why couldn’t she just get a discount? It’s not like the giant organization would go bankrupt over one set of fries. Not being able to afford fries, it was worse than like, dying on a boat or something crazy like that. If only she was holding a real gun. If it was a real gun he wouldn’t be laughing at her. Coupled with her height, she probably looked like a kid throwing a temper tantrum more than anything.

“What?” She scowled up at Jun, looking like a chihuahua throwing a fit. “But I want fries!” She protested, giving the ground a stomp, which barely created an audible thud. She was anger incarnate, right up until Jun said she might pay for her. From then on, Rui looked at her with big eyes, admiring the soon-to-be hero. “You would do that??” She put the gun away again. “You would do that for me??” She found it hard to believe, but of course Jun would! Rui was cute after all! “Hey bestie, wanna eat together?” She beamed, not expecting to make another bestie just like that. Not just any bestie either, her money bestie.

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... "Well. Yeah? I mean, it looks like...er, nevermind," she says, deciding not to bring attention to her apparent trouble. She'd turn to the man and make the order, pulling the money from her wallet to pay him feeling relatively good about her good deed for the week. She didn't get to do things like this often, so it was nice to have the opportunity to give back to her community- "-huh?" Her thought process ground to a halt at the question. First of all, right off the bat, they were now 'besties'? That...that was weird. Her trope senses told her that this was a red flag, and she wasn't entirely sure what to make of it. This was made even more crimson by the fact that she wanted to sit with her. Was it wise? Probably not, but another part of her said that it was probably a good idea. As strange as this girl was, she did try to solicit a Happy Meal at gunpoint, even if the gun was fake. "Uh. Sure. I guess?" She reached up to brush some of the hair out of her face, looking away awkwardly. "So. Bestie? I mean, we met like...thirty seconds ago, isn't that a little quick...?" Rui Matsui

Rui looked up at Jun, smiling innocently. “Yaysies!!” Eating a meal with someone else was always more fun than just stuffing your face on your own. At least that was how the little demon felt. With her Happy Meal on a tray she happily marched towards their seats. “Yeah!! That makes it all the more impressive! I have many besties all over Tokyo.” She smiled proudly. “Now you are one of them.” It wasn’t so much that Rui treated everyone as her best friends, but rather that she was using the term very, very loosely.

When they got to their seats, Rui would first place her tray on the table before climbing up into her seat, her feet dangling over the edge not touching the ground. “What did you do to become so rich, bestie?” She poked a straw through the top of her cola and took a long sip as her big curious eyes looked at Jun, waiting for a response. Maybe she was born into a rich family? Or maybe it was something cool like selling cars, race cars! That had to be it, otherwise how could she afford to pay for Rui so casually. “I’m a doctor of sorts.” She said smugly, holding her head high with a smirk. “That reminds me! You should totes see my quirk! Do you wanna? I promise it’s not like explosions or anything crazy.” She leaned in eagerly. “It’s totes super stealthy, no one else will know! What do you say?” She started unwrapping her burger while she waited and took big bites out of it. Well, big bites if you were Rui-sized.

She was skeptical at best, and even her, "Riiiiiight," carried a little of her doubt with it. She'd take a seat across from Rui, finding the question about her financial situation a little unsettling. "I'm not, no. I'm just some middle class nerd trying to make it in this world," she says, reaching to unwrap one of her chicken sandwiches. Regardless of the statement, Rui might notice the pair of rings she wore with multiple stones inlaid. For all she knew they could be diamonds! (Gee, I am so glad quartz is so cheap!) As she took a bite of her meal she'd consider Rui's statement, chewing slowly. "A doctor, you say?" Then why can't she afford her meal? Is she like a street doctor or something? "That's neat. The world could always use more doctors." The statement about her quirk made her a little curious, but at the same time it wasn't a good idea. "No, that's fine. It's illegal to use one's quirk outside of specific circumstances, and I don't want you to get into trouble." She was on the backfoot of this conversation, which suited Jun fine. She didn't have to dictate the pace of things, especially since she didn't want to talk too much. Rui Matsui

''Those are pretty!'' Her eyes shone when she caught a glimpse of the rings. Smiling up at Jun she put her burger down. ''Can I have them?'' She never got what she wanted when Sho was around, but Sho wasn't around right now and maybe she could fool this nerd into giving her the shinies, or maybe Rui had just charmed her with her amazing looks and angel face! ''Totes! But not too many, they'd take all my business from me.''

''I wouldn't get into trouuubleeee bestieeee!'' She frowned, pouting as she popped her soda straw in her mouth and took a long sip. If Jun wasn't so willing to be impressed and amazed by her quirk, should Rui just cut their conversation short and try to kill her? It was certainly a possibility. What kind of nerd knew how to defend themselves anyway? ''Are you sure you don't want to? It's really super cool.'' She insisted putting her soda down to finish the rest of her burger. ''What do you do for a living? Do you play video games?'' Her concept of what a nerd was, much like most concepts in her head, wasn't all that deep. ''I never play, but one of my besties is really good at them.'' She crumbled her burger wrapping into a neat little ball, she wasn't even that much of a glutton but her meal was disappearing fast. As she was chipping away at her fries, she suddenly raised her voice, smiling. ''My name is Rui btw!!! Rui Matsui! I forgot to tell you, but that's totes my name! I also have a professional name!'' She grinned a fanged grin up at Jun, eagerly awaiting her reaction.

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun blinked at the question. She followed her gaze and saw that they were on her rings...okay, maybe this conversation was going to be a bad idea. Like, superbad. She'd make a conscious effort to turn the outer ring downward, with the intent of hiding the stones and decided to ignore the question. "Business...right. Yeah..." Street doctor. Hundred percent. There were a lot of questions being thrown her way, and it practically made her head spin. She'd just have to take things one step at a time. "I'm Jun, it's nice to meet you? Uh, I'm a student first and foremost, but I work as a prop master at a modeling agency here in Tokyo. You know, building stuff that they might need in shoots? I've even done some set work...I don't really play many video games, but I do read a lot of manga. And yes, you can get in a lot of trouble if you use your quirk. It's illegal to use one without some kind of permit, either for construction or medical or other reasons like that. And then of course there's hero work, but that's a given..." She'd shift a little in her seat, getting through half of her sandwich. That girl was definitely hungry, and as much as she didn't want to she'd tilt her fry holder towards her to offer some up. As much as Rui wanted the shiny things, she also didn't really dwell on them. Jun was too interesting of a person for her to hyper fixate on something like that. Besides, she had seen them, so she could always steal them later or something!! For now she was having conversations with her bestie! ''That's right! Business Woman is my middle name.'' She said proudly, nose raised to the sky. ''Jun!'' She exclaimed with a wide grin. ''Pretty! Your name is short just like mine, Jun Bestie!!'' She giggled, slurping down the rest of her drink. ''You're right, your hobbies sound really nerdy, but that totes means you're full of passion!''

''You're right, hero work is for heroes, that doesn't apply to us, does it?'' She shrugged, ignoring all the other illegalities Jun had just mentioned. ''Medical emergencies are different tho.'' Her gaze grew distant as she looked out the window, her entire tone of voice mellowing out a little more too. ''I'm a medical professional after all. If it's life or death, is it so wrong to step in, even if it means using your quirk?'' She looked back at Jun, not sure if she was expecting an answer or not. ''Who me? Last night I think! I got really drunk so sometimes I don't remember if I've eaten.'' She chuckled, back to her old hyperactive self.

Sticking her hand into her pocket, she took out a kitchen knife and placed it on the table.

''Hey, stab your hand with this.''

She looked up at Jun with wide eyes.

''It'll be a medical emergency. Then I can show you my quirk.''

''It'll be fun, Jun Bestie.''

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Rui had definitely played to one of Jun's biggest worries: the Spirit of the Law vs the Letter of the Law. The law existed for a reason, but humans were fallible creatures that didn't know everything. If someone had a quirk that was useful in a medical situation and an emergency arose, then would it be unethical if that person didn't try to help? Then again, she'd probably rule against Rui as there was something wrong with her. Jun couldn't put her finger on it, but this girl was off in some way. "Well, I mean it kinda applies to me in a way, being that-" She stopped as the knife was set on the table, and Rui's words sent a chill down Jun's spine. Those words removed all doubt from Rui, and two different wheels in her head began to turn. The first was panic, being that this obviously unhinged person was telling her to harm herself just so she could show off her quirk. That wasn't healthy even in the best of circumstances, and if she didn't comply then what was this girl going to do? The second wheel was the more rational side of her, looking into the best way to keep the situation from spiraling out of control. She cleared her throat, beginning to reach for the knife. "You, uh. Should take better care of yourself then. You look awfully thin, and drinking on top of that is bound to give you some kind of liver damage or something like...also, you shouldn't carry things like this around with you, people might get the wrong idea." ''Being what?'' She cocked her head, looking at Jun expectantly, unblinking. When Jun reached for the knife, Rui quickly swiped it herself with one hand. ''That's okay bestie! I'm doing just fine, that's my secret!! ~'' Then she finally blinked her eyes. ''Are you concerned about me? You really like me don't you?'' Why wouldn't she? Rui was adorable after all! ''But if you liked me, why didn't you stab your hand right away?'' She furrowed her brow, as if she was using her one brain cell to try and figure out what Jun was thinking. Naturally, she didn't arrive at the same conclusion Jun did.

''Do you want me to do it?'' She grinned, turning the knife on Jun. ''I won't go deep, I can even make it a cut, anywhere you want, no one will be able to tell bestie, and I totes mean that! Rui always keeps her word!'' She hopped onto the table, holding the knife towards Jun's face, practically staring her down at this point and completely ignoring the scene she was causing as other customers and restaurant staff started to notice what was happening. ''What do you say? It'll feel good.'' Before Jun could answer, Rui took a swing at her shoulder, trying to bury the knife inside it. Not enough to stab deep of course, she always kept her promises! But if Jun decided to resist or dodge entirely, well, then that might change things!

Ohno, things were progressing much faster than Jun wanted, this girl was on the table, she was waving the knife in her face, this girl was unhinged and Jun was right and she needed to do something to deescalate the situation before things got bad! As Rui pressed in Jun had begun to lean back in her seat, but with the telegraphed attack she knew she had to do something and fast. There was no way she was going to avoid getting hurt, but she could do something to mitigate the damage. Putting a foot against the table and a hand against Rui's belly, she'd push backwards with all she had as the knife came down. The blade would pierce through Jun's shirt and leave a nice cut along the top of her shoulder, but with the shifting momentum Jun would force her chair backwards, pushing up with her other arm to yeet the demon into the table behind her. The chair slammed into the ground, briefly rattling Jun but with a quick roll she'd be on her feet, her good arm up and the gems on the ring glowing. A set of chains would spring into existence, effectively chaining her to the mess of limbs in front of her. "Okay, timeout! What is wrong with you?!" Jun would be panting heavily as adrenaline would begin to pump through her, hand shaking as she maintained concentration. Unfortunately, because of the nature of the situation Jun was not able to perfectly wrap up Rui. At the very least, no one was sitting in that spot. Rui Matsui

While Rui might have wished she was a super athletic, fast and strong villain, the truth was that she was an out of shape gremlin with a strong healing quirk. Needless to say, Jun had no problem sending Rui flying backwards, narrowly avoiding a much deeper cut into her shoulder as Rui tumbled back over herself with a grunt. Thankfully, despite not being a combatant, she had still managed to keep ahold of her knife! When at first you don't succeed, try to stab your bestie again! Then she felt something wrap around her... Chains???

''Hey, hey, hey now bestieee... ~'' She cooed as she made her way up into a sitting position, grinning wickedly back at Jun as the young woman suddenly became much more interesting to Rui. She wasn't just a modelling nerd, was she? There was more to her. These chains were her quirk and her reflexes weren't half bad. ''How did you learn to move like that? Are you keeping secrets from me? Besties are supposed to tell each other everything you know!'' She smiled, holding the knife up. ''Your chains are pretty..'' She quickly tried and with some effort, managed to slip out of Jun's chains. She was so lucky she hadn't been chained down faster. Her bestie was probably panicking too from the looks of things which worked to her advantage. ''But they can't hold mee! ~'' She stood up and pointed the knife at Jun. ''You're totes making this harder on yourself! If you just let me make a little incision, I'll show you what my quirk can do!'' She didn't get why Jun was so scared, Rui was being totally reasonable here! ''Don't you trust me?'' Her smile dropped a bit, but her eyes stayed just as intense.

''You know. I have another name too.'' She was completely ignoring the panic that was ensuing around them as customers rushed to get out of the store. ''Mummy. It's my villain name.'' She smiled proudly. Just then, she let the skin unwrap from her face, the skin falling to the ground loosely like bandages revealing her skull underneath. She giggled and waved back at Jun, before letting her skin wrap back around her own face. Then, giddy as ever she smiled and lowered her voice to a whisper. ''Wanna see what else I can do?'' She raised her left hand and wound it back, before lunging it at Jun, attempting to close the range between them by throwing and wrapping her bandage skin from her arm around one of Jun's chains so she could pull herself closer. ''Just one small cut, bestie!!''

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... As Rui started to struggle in the chains Jun took a moment or two to recenter and figure out the next course of action. Those chains weren't going to keep Rui down for long, and she needed to figure out how to resolve this scenario and quick. This girl was insistent on showing Jun her quirk, and the most she could deduce was there was some healing portion to it. Despite this, Jun wasn't exactly keen on letting Rui carve her up. It wasn't healthy in the slightest. And then Rui began to explain she had another name: Mummy. It was a name that she was unfamiliar with, but with Rui confirming that she was indeed a villain all doubt was removed. That said, her actions unsettled Jun as her skull was revealed, her hands lowering as her eyes widened. "Oh my gosh," she says, taking a half-step back. "U-unfortunately for you, I'm a hero student." She threw her hands back up in a combat stance, taking a breath. "You're not going to callously use that knife anyone, especially if it's to just show off what your quirk can do-" The bandages caught her off guard. She was getting a lot of information out of this girl, but this was not the best way to go about it. She'd drop concentration on the chains, but it wouldn't do much against the one that had wrapped around her arm. She was on the verge of panicking full on, and she'd pull back hard, trying to break free. "No means no! I will blow you to kingdom come if you try it!" Rui Matsui

Rui grinned, “are youuu? ~” That certainly explained Jun’s reflexes, the way she so effortlessly pushed her away and summoned her quirk. She wasn’t just some scared civilian girl, she was a hero student. Unfortunately for Jun that only made her all the more interesting as one of Rui’s new besties! Suddenly making decisions was even harder. Should she wound her then heal her to demonstrate her quirk like she had originally planned? Maybe she could kill her instead and get a real hero to come after her! Decisions, decisions!!

Blow her to kingdom come? That sounded exciting! “Do it bestie!! You’re a hero student, you should like, totes show me what you’ve learned!” As Jun was trying to break free, Rui also willingly let go of Jun, not because she didn’t want to hold on, but because for her regeneration to work on herself all of her body needed to be wrapped up in her skin. Even if it was just her arm or hand, it being wrapped around something else was enough to cut off the healing flow, and as long as Rui had her healing, she had nothing to fear. “Do it! Do it right now! Or I’ll stab you instead!” She looked around at the terrified civilians, some too paralyzed to move. She pointed her knife at a boy, no more than 12 years old. “I’ll kill that one! Blow me away or I’ll kill him!” She hummed, turning away from Jun as she switched targets and started walking towards the boy. “Heysies!” She called out to him and waved, “wanna make the next headline bestie?!”
