'The Revenge of Yamato' hung over her head all the time, despite the fact that everyone involved did what they could to keep her name out of that article. But of course, the more you tried to cover something up the more people will do what they could to look. It was something that Jun herself had learned in her studies. After all, why wouldn't all these agencies want to recruit her? She could easily knock out any big-time threat no problem, which was something that she didn't care for. That was why she made the decision she did. Ouros was once a big-time hero agency, but after Recall and Glepnir had taken over it's goals had changed to focus more on investigation. It was a field that a lot of heroes didn't like doing, something that was left more to police. And it was a field that Jun had an interest in. As she entered into the building she'd leave her shoes at the entrance, stepping into the main hall and looking around. It wasn't too long after the Elementals incident, so on top of being in school uniform she had a few places where she was bandaged; she got off lucky compared to some other classmates, suffering minor cold injuries and general exhaustion. The recent uptick in events such as the night of Babel and the attack of The Elementals meant that not only did Ouros suddenly become extremely busy, but the investigative aspect of the agency had fallen to the wayside. They were doing good work regardless, as the expansion of their staff plus all of the joint agency assignments they had taken on meant good work was being put out for them. This in turn was more fruitful as they were now able to hire even more staff to help out, this included finally providing some internships! There were plenty of agencies that were more suited for your average hero in training, but what Ouros offered was a different path for those interested in detective work.

Junsuina was one such. A second year with a bit of a troubled past who had recently gotten herself into hot water over and over again. She was one of the few students thrown into a direct confrontation with one of the Elementals and was moderately injured in the process. If that wasn't enough she was also under house arrest due to an unsanctioned excursion which she ended up having to bail them out from. Kaida was a bit more disgruntled as the experience had been personal, and as a result, she wasn't as amendable to a work-study.

Right on schedule Jun had arrived with Iphi coming out of her office to greet her in her usual white long-sleeved shirt, a black tie, and black pants. "Welcome Jun. I hope the trip over wasn't too much trouble. Follow me?" she'd bring Jun to the conference room not too far off from the entrance. "Would you like any coffee or tea? We have some snacks as well." she'd wait until Jun answered and either prepare the food or take a seat at the head of the table to start the debriefing.

"The trip was uneventful, thankfully. Please, lead the way." She'd follow Iphi down the hall towards a conference room, and once there she took a seat. The bag she had was set on the floor next to her seat, and she kept her hands on the table. "Um, coffee, please. Thank you." She swallowed hard, looking around the room and taking in all the little details while she waited for Iphi to take her seat, and once offered she'd pull the cup closer to her, looking at it. "I would like to take the time to thank you for this opportunity, Recall-sensei. I know I'm not the calmest under pressure, and I have a tendency to act before lining all the pieces up, but...I genuinely think the mind is the greatest weapon a hero can have, and fighting bad guys is only a fraction of the equation to hero work." She picked up a sugar packet and gently tore along the top over the cup, ensuring that no granules got out on the table. Iphigenia Pavlina

Taking the opportunity to pour herself some tea after initially serving Jun Iphi would take a seat across from her at the conference table. It didn't take much to see that Jun was looking to become more well rounded and given her most recent 'adventure' she was fairly confident that part of this drive was inspired from that. A hero license was great, but a detective license on top of that opened up even more doors.

"Of course, I'm more than happy to help when I can" she'd take a sip from her own coffee of which she drank black "I think that's a great mindset to have. I came a similar conclusion during my tenure at UAU as my quirk isn't suited for combat or so I thought." she'd recall her earlier experiences where she was a lot like Jun in her approach. To compensate for her lack of conventional quirk it was during the hero courses of her first year that she was a lot more reckless. It was enough that you could barely recognize her compared to today! She'd nod approvingly at Jun's assessment. "That's correct. A good quirk and training will only get you so far. When you're out in the field and the situation changes you need to be able to adapt quickly. Expanding your mind is the fastest way to do that." she'd pull out three manilla folders she had on her person and place them on the table. "Three cases. I'd like you do to pick whichever is the most interesting and we'll pursue that."[break][break]

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun blinked, looking at the files in front of her. She thought there would be more pomp and circumstance, more questions, a more interview-based procedure. The question threw her off so much that she visibly hesitated before reaching out for the first of the three. And the moment she opened it, her blood froze. The man, the victim that she saw with the liquid metal and drones, was the first thing she saw. Turning the sheet, she saw another person, wild and savage looking with lightning coming from his finger. It didn't take her long to figure out that this particular file was about the attacks in Tokyo that took place recently. She reached out for another folder, and opening it she saw what appeared to be a giant golem. She pressed her lips together, deftly balancing the two folders as she flipped a page, seeing the giant structure near the end of her own encounter. "You're investigating the attacks," she says, eyes going back and forth between the two folders. "On one hand, trying to understand the connection between the people involved, and on another trying to understand their engines of destruction. And ultimately, you want to bring him down totally..." she closed them both, reaching for the last one. "The Elementalist." She stacked all three up, beginning to open the last one. This particular file was more mundane, it looked like. Trying to find connections between the Elementalist and the different districts that were attacked. It definitely seemed to be the most boring of the three, but as Jun flipped through it she started to find bits and pieces of information that had some interesting implications: potential backup hideouts, other backers that might have had a vested interest in the case but weren't implicated. From the very moment that Jun and Kaida had gotten into trouble of their unsanctioned excursion Iphi had put in a request to mentor them properly with the school. With her own experiences in being reckless, she felt that it was her duty to make sure the two of them didn't end up doing something they'd regret or, even worse than that, lose their place at UAU. For Kaida she was nearly on her way out but Jun still had a few more years to go and she clearly had more than a bit of loyalty towards her friend which made her the primary focus in Iphi's eyes.

After the Elementals, all of the faculty at UAU were given a list of any students involved in the crisis. Since there were multiple sites there were a few that had students entirely on their own and Jun was no exception. So when preparing these cases she figured it was only fair to give her the option for some closure. The other two were also straightforward in that one of them involved the death of a student and the other was the site in which Iphi herself was involved in. The throughline for all of these was that mostly students fought off the threat, and Iphi figured that would appeal to Jun the most. Hits close to home so to speak.

"Correct. The coordination of these attacks, I believe, hides a larger conspiracy. I have no idea what The Elementalist plans but I doubt this is the last time we'll hear from him. The calm before the storm, so to speak." it was time to address the elephant in the room. "Your unsanctioned excursion with Kaida is why I want to involve you in my investigations. The skills required to conduct a proper investigation will get you much farther than going in guns blazing; trust me, I know from experience what recklessness can cause. My job as a Pro Hero and a teacher is to train you properly." She'd take another sip from her coffee. "So, what is your choice? Once you've made a decision, we're going to take a trip to the site of the incident."

A lot had happened that night, and to make matters worse the information she was working with at the time and what had actually been planned might have sunk more than that transport in drydock. She had good intentions, but in terms of the investigation as a whole...she didn't want to think about it. "There...was definitely a lot that I wish I could go back and change. I've-" she stopped, nearly revealing the point in time where she galivanted as the Nitelight of Osaka. "Uh. I've thought long and hard on that, and read up on police procedures with raids like that. Or even investigations. It would have been better to just let things lie and let the pros do their thing..." She closed the last file, setting them all on the table and reaching for her cup, trying to steady the shaking she was experiencing. "I...I'm curious what that structure's purpose is. After we pulled that man from the Terminator ink, it bloomed into existence. For a long time I thought we might have failed, but it's just...sitting there. All menacingly." Iphigenia Pavlina

Iphi couldn't help but feel proud that Jun had reached this conclusion. If she had nearly as much foresight or had really stopped to evaluate her life choices when she was in her second year, she would probably still be working as an employee instead of the boss of Ouros. Given the trajectory of her life, that wasn't a bad thing but how could she had seen how life would turn out back then? Even with the arguably biggest brain on the planet she couldn't know everything.

"Honestly, in a lot of ways, I disagree. Yes there are times when you should leave things to the professionals, but if you always default to the experts you'll never learn." she would finish her coffee having poured about half a cup as she had some earlier "But there are the proper channels you'll need to follow. Your decision to come here was the correct one, if you're ever in another crisis like the Elementalist event you'll not only have the skills from your hero courses but the problem solving skills to adapt and lead your friends and classmates to safety." she would rise from her seat and take the two folders that Jun had decided against and would put them in a bin next to the door. Sadako had been interested in checking out the site that Rin had reluctantly been apart of and Felix had mentioned in passing that he wanted to see what had happened at 'The Storm'.

"The tower, huh." Iphi had been to each of the sites of the incidents during the aftermath and while their was substantial damage from the assailants on each of them, the site of 'The Tortured' was the only one that resulted in the creation of something new. "Everyone who fought was fighting for survival. You not only saved hundreds of thousands of civilians but also yourselves. That can't be considered a failure." she knew about Jun's aversion to touch or otherwise she would have given her a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "We'll take a quick ride." she'd grab her keys and assuming Jun followed they'd be on the road.

"So, if you feel you're up to speaking about it. I would like to hear about your experience that day. Any details you can provide would be pertinent to our investigation. That could be lesson one: information gained through eyewitnesses may not always be 100% accurate, but it very rarely does more harm than good."

In her heart of hearts, she really did believe that based on what she knew, interfering was the best course of action. On the other hand, Iphi was right. Both her and Kaida shouldn't have been out that night, trying to stir trouble. Vigilantism was still highly illegal, and if she was being honest they got off lightly. But Iphi's other statement caused Jun to shift a little uncomfortably. "People still died. The moment that container opened, at least four people did make it and another five were left in critical condition. And that's not including the drones that got away...or the man that was forced into it against his will." She let out a sigh, setting her cup down and getting up. She wanted to instinctively ask where they were going, but she had a pretty good idea. Instead, as they began to make their way through the compound she started to think back. "I definitely have some blurs, especially after the fact, but...It was an odd experience. The primary victim had no control over his actions, or over the drones. The drones could mimic quirks to a degree, and at one point it could mimic people and refer to events that aren't fully public knowledge. "I should have been more clear. As callous as this might seem, the initial civilians who died would have died regardless. No one could have seen those attacks coming, but your intervention prevented that number from being much much larger. That is specifically the part I was referring to as why I would consider you not having failed." she would take a turn down the road headed towards the site of the Tortured. It was still largely quarantined, especially around the perimeter of the tower, but anyone with a hero license could operate in the area if needed. They would just need to avoid interacting with the tower in any physical capacity.

"That's what I had heard from others on the same battlefield who fought in different locations. Seemed like whatever material these drones were made of, which I believe to have been synthesized from a quirk factor, had the ability to absorb energy and convert it into fuel." she'd pause as they arrived at the edge of the quarantine zone and put the car in park as they'd need to walk from there. Most of what Jun said was pretty standard given the various reports she'd received from everyone involved, but she was caught off guard by the last bit of information. That was certainly news to her. "By information that isn't public knowledge, do you mean highly secured information such as government records, or are we talking something similar to telepathy?" she would open the car door and exit the vehicle to begin their walk. They may have been close to the quarantine zone, but the actual area this encompassed was rather large. There was no reason they couldn't walk and talk after all.

That sort of stuff was more up Ana's alley, or Kei. She'd have to wrap her head more around that part, but that could be done later. However, the other part, once they got to at least the quarantine line, Jun thought how to best describe it. "Telepathy. Almost like...whatever the heck that thing was, it was trying to get into our heads. Kaida afterwards told me she saw her sister...and Kurkami Gen was apparently there, talking about Stryker's...Island..." she trailed off, pressing her lips together as she remembered the whole debacle in her family circle. "'The Revenge of Yamato', an article that was published after the fact, had all mentions of my name removed after my mother found out a story was being done. And the Gen copy on scene talked about events that happened there, even though the only people that know about it are my parents, my high school, the police, and Kaida. No one else knows..." She could have gotten into the idea of the synthesized quirk factor, but ultimately, she decided not to. It wasn't because Jun wouldn't understand or anything of that sort, more just because it was largely a theory of hers that she had no way to prove. With the drones and the Tortured in question having all but disappeared, it was extremely difficult to prove her theory

As one of the few who had a direct confrontation with The Tortured Jun's testimony was concerning. "So, it parsed information directly from your brain? Was there some sort of indicator for that as in were you in contact with the being or was there some sort of scan applied to you? If not that's...extremely disturbing." The level of technology it would require to do so without any contact or anything being applied to the group that opposed The Tortured would be insanely high and way out of the current scope of available technologies. It is absolutely frightening to have that in the hands of an unknown and unstable enemy of the public.

If she remembered her brain being scanned, or if there was some tell, she could have brought that up. The best she could determine was there was some kind of radiation or electromagnetic field that could synch with her brain, capable of parsing through her memories like a continuous video feed. Or...something. The tech for that had to be so far beyond normal capabilities. Either that, or there was a quirk at work. Which...thinking about it, was much more plausible. A quirk that could read minds. There were some instances of that, and if there was a synthesized quirk factor... She looked up at the tower, a frown forming on her face. "The...the person that came out of the container. I think he was as much of a victim as the rest of us. There was a sort of liquid metal, like...like from that one American movie from way back when. With the AI and uh, what was he called...'Governator'? Anyways, there was more to it than that, obviously." She looked up at the tower, thinking back to when it sprouted. "The amount of punishment that body took was...insane. It formed a shell that, after a time, we managed to crack through it just enough. Jack managed to pull the man out from it, and I blasted the living metal as hard as I could, but it still formed this. I remember hearing some kind of robotic protocol that was trying to execute. Cupping her chin with her fingers Iphi's eyes would narrow as she thought on what Jun was sharing with her. If there wasn't any sort of scan being performed or something that Jun could visually see it seemed less likely that it was advanced technology. Well or it was even more advanced than she could comprehend but that begged the question why use something that potent for something like this? For this tower?

She would turn to observe Jun's reaction to being face-to-face with the source of what must have been an extremely traumatic experience for her. If there was any hint of feeling overwhelmed by the sight of it, Iphi was more than happy to call the whole thing off. It was her job as the adult here to make sure she wasn't overexposing Jun to something she couldn't handle even if she was a bit more experienced than the average student. "How much do you know about The Elementalist?" Iphi would pose the question but continue on regardless of Jun's response "A man with a interest in the study of quirks on society who became corrupted by his research. Happens more often than you'd expect." she'd take out a small camera and snap a few pictures of the tower. It wasn't like she would have many chances to get this close, and given the circumstances, an aerial camera or drone was a bit distasteful. "Hmm. If the current tower we're looking at is a fraction of what it was supposed to be, then I suppose The Elementalist failed in a way." couldn't be said it was a complete failure otherwise they wouldn't be standing here in front of this mass of metal. She would then pose a loaded question to Jun "So, if you had to guess what our next best course of action would what would you suggest?" This was her attempt to give Jun some agency as this was intended to be an internship for her and detective work was exactly what Ouros specialized in.

Trauma that had ways of surfacing in manners she didn't think about. It was kinda bad, if one knew the extent of it. Regardless, she seemed to be a little sad at the tower's presence, as well as curious. She stepped forward, reaching out to place a hand against the metal. "The desire of power tends to do that," she says flatly, remembering the couple of articles she read about him in the aftermath. She hadn't anticipated being exposed to the case as a whole, so she didn't do too much diving. "Well, I definitely have a lot of questions." She turned to look back at Iphi, raising an eyebrow. "My initial reaction is to have it torn down. If the Elementalist wanted this up and a whole district effectively coated in the stuff, then we clearly don't want it. But considering that hasn't happened yet, I imagine all the data we want from it hasn't been collected." She turned to look up at it again, stepping back. "Have samples been taken from it? Has it been analyzed for radiation? If so, is it emitting any? It looks like a radio tower, is it transmitting something?" A pause, stepping back to be on par with Iphi. "It's...wired into the ground. isn't it? It set up here, in the middle of the street, is there something underneath it? Is...is this the epicenter of something bigger?" The pieces were falling in place. It was set up here; what was its influence, exactly? "We should get below street level. There might be something that the living metal has attempted to connect to."
