| [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun might be slightly slower than normal, but she was still no pushover. Her body was a weapon, even without the Light of the Traveler. She landed a solid blow, all she had to do was dance around him and keep things up. The raised fist of the skeleton, not to mention the projection she saw from the attack, was predictable and easily avoided. However, as she began to move a wave of dizziness overtook her. The lack of practice was weighing on her, and keeping up with massive illusions like she was taxed her more than she thought. How the heck does he do it, she thinks, chalking it up to the practice thing. Gen, she figured, focused on a bunch of small things that wouldn't overwhelm someone, at least not often. She was getting ahead of herself, though. She barely managed to avoid the attack, but the impact did cause her to roll out of the way. All her other illusions immediately halted, meaning the darkness vanished and the blaring music ceased to be. The 'lightning' that sparked across her arms also went away, and she staggered to a kneeling position. Looking around Jun noticed that there was a nice hole in the enemy mob, but they were now advancing on Ylva. Taking a deep breath, she set both hands on the ground as she prepared for something new. "「Feel the Earth Move!」" This one was much more complex, and would take a decent amount of effort to maintain. Short term, yes, but they were in a war of attrition. They just had to escape and find the Concocter. The sound she was creating was easy, as that was just a dull and distant rumble. The other part was more difficult: creating the illusion that the world was vibrating. She couldn't one-to-one match the sensation that an earthquake was taking place, but she knew enough about illusions to know that it was possible to trick the brain into believing it was in an earthquake. The only worry she had was Ylva. "Gen, get your butt in gear! Ylva, just focus on the hole! Run for it, I can't keep this up forever!" She was trying not to affect Ylva with it, but it was easier to blanket the area with the illusion. Gen could easily ignore it, and- wait. Wait. Where the heck was Gen??? Jinx, junsuina, Kurokami Gen, Ylva Riis, tl;dr: -Barely avoids getting hit -Drops all other illusions -Becomes an Earthquake Machine (but not really) and tells her associates to run for it |

Between the mist and all the chaos she could feel her irritation building, which resulted in a wicked idea. [break][break]
As if Jun was able to read her mind or, more importantly, read the room, she stopped whatever 'magic' she was doing, which let her relax a bit as she pulled her hands away from her ears and pulled back on Dark Shadow, who stopped its assault and turned back towards Ylva now much smaller as the darkness in the room had returned to normal. [break][break]
"I suggest regrouping with the other person. Teams of 2 are easier to work with, and I've already got a partner. Dark Shadow?" she would take an inhale, inadvertently taking in some extra power from the ambient mist in the process. Dark Shadow would take this opportunity to combine its own arm with Ylva's and then, as directed, punched upwards through the ceiling and pulled Ylva up with it to the next floor. Opting not to warn Jun what she was going to do, mostly because she had a good idea of what she was capable off and really didn't think it was necessary. Besides there were more important things at hand as she didn't chose to exit the battle randomly, she was searching for a win condition-a line to cut the power in the building.[break][break]

| [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Gen had vanished. She had no clue where he went. It was possible, when she went to be the distraction, that he slipped away. She wasn't totally taken over by Horrid Reality, but she had to take a little of it in to know what she was creating. This looped back to her lack of practice, but at the very least it would have been nice to have people that backed her up. She missed Kaida. Heck, she'd even take Farrin. He couldn't be having a good time with all this either. And to make matters worse, when she looked back over at Ylva she was jumping up through the ceiling. And now she was alone. Her stomach began to twist into knots as she processed this new information. She didn't know where to go, and looking around just got infinitely harder as there was only so much she could do with this quirk. “Remember, Jun-chan, you’re weak now. You can’t push your weight around anymore.” That single phrase only seemed to annoy her. Gen seemed to take a lot of stock that he was the greatest, but he clearly wasn't. The things he relished were awful, and if he just accepted... There wasn't much time to contemplate that. She was by herself, and if she didn't do something to discourage this mob then she'd have them all over here in the ensuing escape. The "earthquake" was useful, but that wasn't enough. Taking a breath, she braced herself as she knew what she was going to do was going to hurt. She absorbed some of the dust in the air, hoping it would reinforce her fists enough to make it through this. "「One for All!」" She the ground hard as she could to be convincing, cancelling out her previous illusion but put much more effort into the new one. An audible CRACK! pierced the air, like a very big gun going off. Visually, flames spread out in a wave, but they wouldn't appear to engulf her targets; they'd catch on. So she warped their perception, making them think the ground waved outwards and threw them all up. It was of course a trick of the mind, but she didn't want them thinking something wasn't happening. The acrid smell of smoke filled everyone's nostrils, and the bitter and overwhelming taste of gunpowder was on everyone's tongues. Jun was certain she felt something crack in her hand, but she couldn't stop to look it over. She closed the distance with the big monster, the gap between the illusion hitting him and her fists having to be miniscule to take advantage of the opening. She'd pull them enough to not kill this...man? Man. But she clearly wasn't going to stop until he was a non-threat. And then...maybe. She would have intimidated the rest enough to get a move on. At least, that was her working theory. junsuina, Ylva Riis, Jinx, Kurokami Gentl;dr: -Where did Gen go? - WHY IS SHE ALONE?-Fine, I'll fight them all myself -Absorbs some pixie dust to boost Durability (C+ => B+) - Mudahmudah on the big guy |

Bookeeping, security and inventory. If there was something that could make any real charges stick, it was right here. If the Concocter was all that, she’d have no use for these risks, especially that picture, but her would-be customer wasn’t about to complain. [break][break] Gen was quick to boot the PC up and start digitally rummaging through folders and folders of footage. Of course, he didn’t have time to analyze the tape, but he didn’t need to.All he needed was to put this in safe hands, but whose, he wondered. [break][break] They needed to be smart enough to put two and two together in case they didn’t make it back, but they couldn’t be someone he actually cared about. If their address leaked out, they could have God-knows-who chasing them down the streets. Smart, but enough of a piece of shit where he wouldn’t feel bad about screwing over. He thought about it for a moment, before coming to the only possible answer.[break][break] [break][break] Perfect.[break][break] Now, let’s see how the girls are doing.[break][break]
[break][break] With the keyring audibly spinning around his finger, Gen would just catch the gloomy girl leaving Jun to her fate. The latter did what she could to hold the masses off, but what good was it? The effect was neat, I guess, and it almost made Gen’s Quirk look cool. Almost. No matter how hard she yelled about it, no matter how many bells or whistles she added, she was overreaching. She was doing more than what that Quirk could bargain for, and eventually, those goons were gonna get to that weak little girl.[break][break] Unless…[break][break] Someone really did burn this fucker to the ground. [break][break] “Oh, you’re still dealing with these?” [break][break] “What a disappointment, I thought you wanted to be number one, Ylva-chan~” His voice boomed from the back of the hallway, just outside the gravity well’s range. “Oh well... you can just sit back and watch how a real star at work.” Right then and there, two jade-green pieces of machinery would appear on either side of the doorway. They were not mere cannons, like the ones Jun so gleefully took to summoning, no, these were something much, much worse. If she wanted to sell the fantasy of fire, then Gen would just make it a reality. “You’ll have plenty of time to get used to it after graduation.”[break][break] [break][break] His mind swelled with Spite, the very thing that kept him going, and the very same force that would one day consume him from the inside. Then, all he needed to do was watch. The two weapons spewed an emerald green wave of fire out onto the room, setting the army of assailants ablaze. Watching all those little bodies turned to ash. God, it felt so good! [break][break] [attr="class","curragebot"] Radiate, recognize one silent call as we all form one dark flame.[break][break] TL;DR:[break] - Gen sends the security footage to some piece of shit from the Support Couse as a contingency[break] - He comes back to find Ylva ditching Jun and her doing a kinda cool stunt. - Staying out of the extra gravity's reach, he uses Emotion Battery(C+) to clean out some goons with a pair of flamethrower constructs.

Toshima Prefecture, Local Bar, 8:00 pm
The horde staggered under the full partial force of an earthquake, several amongst the figures even toppling entirely and dragging others down with them. Chalky dust puffed up where they fell, wrongful impacts taking off parts and adding more to the layer already strewn across the ground.
The floor was not the only place where dust was kicked up, for a noticeable plume of the more normal kind fell from the ceiling where Ylva tore through it with her empowered strength, the boost narrowly allowing her to fight her way through the increased gravity. Much like Gen's earlier experience Ylva would find the second floor far more normal than the bizarre adventure below. Albeit one that had clearly seen better days. With the scattered furniture and scattered items all over the floor came the realization that the gravitational field was spherical in nature and still covered most of the room she'd found herself in.
Strewn among the mess caused by their fight below was a different kind of mess that clearly preceded it. Torn, wrinkled and balled up papers lay scattered all around the sitting area of the living room Ylva had found herself in. Some could be mistaken for the writings of a sane person, albeit scribbled out to the point few words remained eligible. In fact, only those few words that could be pieced together by the sheer amount of times their shape showed up throughout the pages were likely to be decipherable in a reasonable amount of time.
'Why' 'Can't' 'Have to' 'Gone'
The further outwards from the small table in the salon area riddled with writing implements one got the messier the writing became, as if the writer had gradually gotten more and more unhinged and thrown their failed attempts at articulation with ever greater fury and force. The furthest, most recent pages barely had any of the page visible between the black ink covering their surface.
While attention grabbing it was far from the only thing in the room. Atop a kitchen counter next to the fridge sat a sizeable medicine cabinet and strewn across the table were bills, late payment notices and more. On the walls hung portraits of the same two women featured on the picture in the office accompanied by an older looking man that shared their features. Near the door was a wall-mounted lockbox with glass at the front and a small codepad near the corner. Within was empty hook from which a certain keyring had once hung, a series of switches to turn the lights and power alike in the bar area below on or off, a similar switch to lock the doors and a red button to send a distress signal to the nearest police station.
On a normal day a scene such as the one taking place below would have justified pressing the button ten times over.
Jun's next illusion sent the horde that was still struggling to recover from the previous one into further disarray. The difference between sight, hearing and feeling was enough to freeze the majority in place, the rapid and conflicting changes in sensory data forcing most of their attention to be devoted solely to staying upright. Something many amongst them failed. Even the large skeletal figure seemed affected enough to sway and drop to a knee, the gravitational field fizzling out alongside his concentration just as Jun's strike flew towards him.
At the same time flames of the non-illusory variant tore through the stunned masses. Gen and Jun's combination attack turned the nightmare scene into a veritable hellscape within moments. The streams of fire tore through the crowd, uncanny wails resounding as they were reduced to ashes and then again to dust.
The light in the skeletal figure's eyes dimmed when Jun's punch landed, its bones being rattled just enough for the previous strike's cracks to spread and cause it begin to crumble. With a sound like a dying breath it seemed to inhale in a metaphysical way, the massed influx of dust left by the passing flames streaming towards him and mending the cracks with a purplish-golden sheen not unlike kintsugi. Its gravity field reasserted itself with far more range and more than enough power to drive even the hardiest to their knees, shattering the few remaining Egos and adding their strength to the figure's.
It was too little too late.
The sudden influx of power was too much for its damaged and overloaded form to take and it collapsed into a mere pile of bones, the sole sign of its parting too fading into the same chalky black dust that now covered the entirety of the floor.
It did not remain there for long. Along with the last remnants of the fog the chalk dust on the ground and the chalk dust used for Jun and Ylva's power-ups alike moved towards the gap between the door and the floor as if it were the vacuum of space. Over the course of a minute all signs of the supernatural rapidly drained from the room until it appeared as nothing more than a classy bar, no signs remaining of the impossible scene from moments ago other than charred surfaces and overturned tables.
A fridge hummed beneath the bar counter at the side of the room. One that seemed to have appeared out of thin air the moment the fog cleared yet had been suspiciously clear of activity the entire time. Drop by drop a faucet dripped water into the sink beneath it, one in which the rows and rows of far less unique glasses that stood next to it had been cleaned time and time again. Everything seemed perfectly normal once more. Everything but the door.
TL;DR: The combo attack of Jun and Gen is startlingly effective, clearing most of the room and heavily damaging the skeletal figure. As a final hail mary it attempts to draw in the power of every single one of the fallen, briefly causing his gravity field to be buffed drastically in both range and power (all the way to S rank) before it succumbs to its own greed and collapses into a heap of bones that then crumbles to dust. Up above Ylva too discovers that the rest of the building is surprisingly mundane and locates several more items of use. Shortly after the boss falls the power-ups fade and are sucked into the gap beneath the door at the other side of the room alongside all the dust left by the horde leaving nought but a startlingly normal bar.

| [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Between the heat all around her and the sudden gravitational force pulling her down, Jun thought she failed. Her eyes watered, not out of frustration but because she was subconsciously registering pain from her hand all the way to her elbow; what she hadn't realized is one of her punches was off by an inch, and so she struck with her third knuckle instead of her second. As she looked up at the monster, she began to mentally brace herself for what was to come...only to watch it collapse in on itself. Apparently, she had done a lot more than she thought. With the gravity returning to normal she got back to her feet...and the coughing fit ensued. "You know *cough* we're on the same side. *Cough cough* you shoulda said something before *cough* running off..." She was annoyed, both at Gen and Ylva. Could she assume they were both repositioning for a better attack? Maybe. But at the very least, it would have been nice for them to better communicate with her on their intentions. The ominous door was something Jun didn't want to mess with. The Concocter was up to something, and until they figured out what it was it was best not to play by her rules. Or...maybe they needed to play by them. Far as she knew, they were all stuck. She looked around at the dust, wincing a little as she wasn't sure if these were actual people, or just constructs of the mind. That said, others had walked into this place...so where were they? Jun walked over to the hole in the ceiling, cupping her hands around her mouth. "Ylva, there's a door down here. Much as I hate to admit it, we might have to play along." She frowned. She thought she heard her mention partnering up, and that she had a 'partner'. It made her think of Yaoyao...if that creature tethered to her soul was another person, then... "You have a point in splitting up, but we also have no idea what exactly the Concocter has in store for us, and that's also not counting all the people that have come in here and never walked out. It might be best for us all to stick together, watch each other's backs." She was loath to admit it, but it was true. She was learning that this quirk was not as useless as Gen thought it was. It had flashy effects, yes, but it was also good at unbalancing people. But as she stood there, something made Jun think that this space was not as it seemed. "...Is there anything of note up there?" junsuina, Ylva Riis, Kurokami Gen, Jinx, tl;dr: -Takes a moment to recover from the fight -Gives Gen a little guff -Tries to persuade Ylva to come down and play |

Gen culled the playing field with a firestorm of spite. Now, all that was left was delivering the coup d’grace. He didn’t need his new Quirk for that. A flick of the wrist engaged the device. Lightning arched around his left hand, dancing in the air and illuminating the hallway. The voltage ramped up every second, past the point of merely maiming a normal man. He took a deep breath, lined up the shot, and…[break][break]

His arm flew toward the ground, and the rest of his body followed. A cracked silhouette left on the floor as every inch of his body whined in pain. Another whimper escaped from his mouth as the weight of the world flattened him. His limbs were killing him, it was as if they had been replaced with massive training weights. He gritted his teeth, trying to tough it out and make some sort of construct to end the pain, but it was too much. He couldn’t focus, he lacked the resilience to close this out. [break][break]
Lying there, more powerful than ever, but just as weak as before, Gen had no choice but to watch on as Jun stood tall. The monster crumbled into pieces without him so much as laying a finger on it. The dust spread, then settled, and the little bastard couldn’t help but think back to another conversation.[break][break]
[break][break]
Two Days Earlier…[break][break]
“You got a raw deal, then…” If Jun was about to come clean with all of that embarrassing nonsense about the Guardians or whatever, then it was only fair that Gen replied with some truth. “A lot of my Quirks got shuffled around a bunch of people and seems you were one of them.” Not all of it, of course, because fuck that noise. Jun was stupid enough to believe in that All for One garbage anyway, no reason to ruin all that good work. “'Cause I recognize that new Quirk of yours.”[break][break]
“If you’re hoping for some dramatic backstory to it, you’re out of luck, ‘cause there’s not much to it.” Gen chuckled to himself, amused. A happiness he couldn’t hide. It was nice to see one’s misery inflicted onto others. See how they like it for a change. “I stole off some sad sack in middle school, I can’t really remember his name right now, but he’s probably working at, I don’t know, the drive-through at McDonald’s?” He shrugged his shoulders, caring little for this definitely hypothetical guy who used to wield this. “He called it something stupid, so I gave it a new name.”[break][break]
“「Horrid Reality」”[break][break]
“It's an Illusion Quirk, but not the good kind.” That being said, it was best to pull a little bit of the curtain. Enough to prevent an idiot like Jun from getting herself killed. He'd rather keep this to himself, but if a certain someone found out that something happened to Jun because of Gen trying to keep this stupid secret, then it probably wouldn't end well for him. “For one, you can’t create anything that touches people, so don’t even think about using it as an attack.” Rule number one, you can’t hurt anyone with it, but worse yet was rule number two. “And here’s the kicker. Your opponent needs to believe that the illusion is real at all times, so you have to make it make sense.”[break][break]
Equally important was fooling oneself. It might’ve been useless, but Jun didn’t strike him as smart enough to get any use out of it. At least, without some pointers. “I used it a lot back in my first-year.” Yeah, that should be a good enough cover story, he thought. “It helped shore up a lot of weak spots in my game, but as soon as I started getting your Quirks I didn’t need it anymore.” Most Quirks are garbage. More handicaps and deformations than actual superpowers. Even with All for One in play, 100 common powers could not compare to a single Hero Student’s gifts. “It paired well with my Quirk, since I could theoretically have any power up my sleeve, but on its own, its just a useless light show.”[break][break]
Still, he needed to get to his point. He knew his audience. Some things needed spelling out, especially when it came to what one can or, in this case, can’t do.
“To sum it up, it's weak, useless, and will never win a fight.”[break][break]
“And now, neither will you.”[break][break]
Gen was livid, and unlike that gravity, those feelings weren’t fading anytime. Something about seeing Jun, beating this massive, hulking monstrosity in a straight up fight. He couldn’t put it into words, but this was wrong and he hated every second of it. That’s not how things were supposed to go. She beat him… with that. Fucking. Quirk. How? How did that even work? She was practically Quirkless. He would’ve-she should’ve been a stain on the ground next to that thing! How the fuck?!?[break][break]
Spite, Misery, Hatred, and somehow, Envy all swelled up inside of him. Every part of himself wanted to lash out in protest. To explode out in a blaze of horrible comments. To let out the most vile screed he could manage, and his new Quirk did little to dissuade that. A dry thud barely echoed through the hallway as Gen punched the floor, his slender arms not even moving the damaged concrete.[break][break]
His head swung toward the door as he heard Jun’s voice. After a deep breath, he got up, hobbling towards the entrance. There were a million things he wanted to spit out onto the world, but this wasn’t the time. They needed to get out of here. Whatever was happening inside his head, he needed to keep it there. Get real, Gen. The truth is only going to make you look worse. You can't air type of stuff in public, but that being said...[break][break]
“Well, JUN, while you were busy fuckin’ around with her goons, I was doing real Hero work.” Just because he wasn’t going to rant didn’t mean that Gen would magically gain a better disposition. His pettiness was plain for all to see, the kind of bitchy co-worker energy that ruins a day on any job, much less one where your life is at risk. “You know, investigating, finding leads, acquiring evidence, making sure its in a safe place if anything happens to us, and…” Leaning against the wall, Gen walked into the room, holding the keyring he had fished out of her offices. “Ta-dah!” The ornate key stuck out like a sore thumb, already picked out of the pile and pinched between that asshole’s fingers. “Woah, would you look at that? It’s what we need to move forward, who could’ve guessed we needed to slow down and not push our weight around? Oh yeah, right, I did!!!”[break][break]
“Of course, I could’ve just yelled it out, but I think that defeats the purpose of doing this behind the Concocter’s back” Suddenly, as if to enhance his point, his head turned up. “I dunno', what do you think, Ylva?”[break][break] [attr="class","curragebot"] Nothing, from nowhere.[break] I'm no one at all.[break] Radiate, recognize one silent call[break] As we all form one dark flame.[break][break] Incinerate![break]
[break][break]
TL;DR:[break]
- Gen tries to finish off the Big guy with Spark of Genius but gets owned by the S-rank gravity.[break] - He has to watch Jun beat this guy with his Quirk.[break] - FLASHBACK. Gen is an asshole and gives his (mostly) honest thoughts about his Real Quirk.[break] - We come back from the flashback to find Gen seething about Jun owning him with his power.[break] - Like a real passive-aggressive piece of shit, he says he found evidence on the Concocter and shows the key ring.[break] - Most of this post is Gen getting owned and being mad about it.[break]

[nospaces] [attr="class","nikki98"] [attr="class","nikki99"] [break] THERE'S FEAR IN THE EYES [break] [attr="class","nikki100"] [attr="class","nikki101"]OF ALL OF YOU THAT BELIEVE THAT YOU'RE RIGHT, AND YOU'RE RIGHT [break] [attr="class","nikki102"]BUT ARE YOU RIGHT? [break] [attr="class","nikki109"]As Ylva landed on the second floor she would take a minute to adjust to the gravity once more. With her extra strength wearing off it took her a little longer than expected, but this in turn gave her an opportunity to look around. With a raised eyebrow she was immediately thrown off with how normal this space looked, heck it looked like a lived-in apartment, not something she would expect given what she knew about The Concocter. "Thoughts?" She would gesture to Dark Shadow as it poked its head out of her shoulder, contemplating the question for a moment before it would reach into Ylva's pocket and pull out her cell phone. "Good call." knowing almost instinctively what it meant she would take the time to snap some pictures of the space. Sure, they may not need them later but it was better to have them just in case. She would bend down to pick up one of the ramblings, squinting as she couldn't decipher what the author...or insane person was trying to get at. She would ball up the note and throw it in the pile, her attention focused on the power source. If there was one thing she learned this last week, it was that Dark Shadow was quite literal with its name. More darkness meant more power, and with what they were dealing with so far, she justified it to herself that it was a necessary measure. Jun could take care or herself and the other guy too, out of the two of them she was definitely the more competent one and it wasn't even close.[break][break] Ylva may not have been an electrician, but she knew the basics. She would trace her finger from the switches up towards the ceiling until she couldn't reach any higher. If her hunch was correct, pulling out and crossing the wires would at least knock out the power in this building area. "Partner? I know it's going to hurt, but bear with me." Dark Shadow would emerge from her back and punch a hole in the wiring, ripping them out and wincing from the sparks flying. It may not have a bright light source, but it was enough to cause some irritation. "Go for it." She'd gestured towards the wires as Dark Shadow turned them in on themselves, a large spark causing it to recoil and retreat back inside Ylva. If she had done this right, the power in the area would go out, but regardless, she'd done what she could.[break][break] She would turn back to the hole she made, and only because Jun asked, she would grab the balled-up paper she had thrown before and take it with her. The door being the only path forward made her choice very easy, and she'd jumped down from the second floor, her Battle Suit absorbing the impact of her fall, which was a bit harder due to the extra gravity. She would head toward the door, tossing the paper to Jun. "This." Once she got close, she would look it up and down, mentally noting how abnormal it was compared to everything else. She'd turn halfway and point to Gen's find. "Whoever owns those lives up there." She'd place a hand on the door and push it to see if anything was triggered. "I'm going ahead. You two should stick together; no one knows what would happen to your original quirk if the person who has it dies." She didn't outright say it, but having dealt with Jun's quirk firsthand, it was clear that Gen was using it. In her mind, whoever had Dark Shadow originally would be the person who had her quirk, at least until it was proven otherwise. Assuming there wasn't anything stopping her, she would don and equip Dark Shadow herself, wearing it like a suit of armor or an exoskeleton. Reeling back, they would use their combined strength to smash through the door and enter the new space. [break][break] tl;dr[break] - Ylva reads the crazy notes[break] - She uses Dark Shadow to cross some wires to power, hopefully blowing a fuse and creating a blackout[break] - She would jump back down and toss Jun one of the notes[break] - Combines with Dark Shadow and attempts to punch through the door, entering the room [break] [attr="class","nikki103"]WORDS | | [attr="class","nikki103"] MUSIC |

Toshima Prefecture, Local Bar, 8:00 pm
The power going out seemed to have turned off all the lights but one. An ominous, purplish violent glow coming out of the crack beneath the door. A crack that soon became a far larger opening when Ylva's fist went right through it, fitting through the wood like an ornate key through a fancy keyhole. The door fell apart like an ill-fitting metaphor, the wood aging rapidly and crumbling into dust the moment its purpose was fulfilled revealing an opening leading down to a long staircase. Yet despite the door's departure the key meant for it remained. One could only imagine what other purpose it might have.
The stairs themselves fit the aesthetic of the bar rather well. Sleek black and modern looking, they could have been mistaken for being a part of the club, perhaps leading down to an underground dance floor. Were it not for their length of course. The stairs led so far down the bottom could not be seen from the door opening. To the sides the walls were made up of acoustic panels and so close to the stairs there was barely a hand width between it and the railing. Running in parallel with the stairs a mere two meters above them was a ceiling made of the same materia.
Toshima Prefecture, Local Bar?, ??:?? pm Down and down the stairs went. Slowly the design began to look less modern. Sleek gleaming black faded to functional metal and glass railings turned to solid steel. The walls too changed from resembling those outside to something that would be more suited to a maintenance tunnel as they went on.
Down and down they went.
Industrial steel was replaced by blocks of marble and cement walls by carved sandstone. They'd been walking for so long that the entrance was no longer visible. On either end of them stretched steps further than the eye could see. There were no visible light sources yet despite the fact that the surface had been left behind ages ago there remained just enough light to see several meters behind and more importantly ahead.
Down and down they went.
Had they been walking for an hour? Had they been walking for several? A day? More? It was hard to tell. Even harder to tell was why they were still going. Perhaps it was sheer force of will, maybe the sunk cost fallacy setting in or simply pure stubbornness. Even more supernatural reasons were not impossible. What mattered was that they kept going. Weirdly enough no matter how long they went they barely seemed to tire, even as marble became stone blocks and the walls turned to carved bricks meeting in an arch at the top, slowly increasing the sense of claustrophobia as the ceiling now seemed to have lowered slightly.
Down and down they went.
The stone was worn, a trail in the middle carved out by the passage of millions of feet over who knew how many centuries. Handrails had ceased to be present for quite a while now but a discolored trail on the wall at chest height showed where travelers of the past had placed their hands for support.
Down and down they went.
Even ancient stone ceased to be, the steps now made of packed earth and the walls of the tunnel seeming carved out of the bedrock with hand held chisels. It carried the weight of history. How many had worked on it and for how long? More importantly, how deep did it go?
Down and down they went.
Finally there was a light at the end of the tunnel. A purplish glow in the distance that seemed to get brighter as they approached. When they finally reached the end the group would see an impossible vast cavern stretch before them. The ceiling was so high it would have developed its own ecosystem had it not been for how lifeless the cavern was and the length and width were so immense that the walls were only barely visible if one squinted. One could be forgiven for thinking they had ended up in some manner of strange new world.
A great many buildings stood within the underground chamber, enough to make up a village, town or even an entire city. All of them seemed to be carved out of the same rock that made up the grotto but the styles were vastly different.
Baroque stood interspersed with Shoin-Zukuri and United Silla. Gothic structures shadowed stone pagodas and Joseon architecture. Some seemed carved out with whatever was around, personal and private. Others were grand and vast, the work of years and vast amounts of people. There were few similarities between the constructions, all seeming apart in style, age, shape and form. Only one thing tied them all together.
They were places of worship. Every last one.
For all its vastness but one living being disturbed the disquieting silence until Gen, Jun and Ylva stepped foot within it, one that stood so far it would take minutes of walking to reach and little but its silhouette was visible from where they had entered. An armored silver-haired figure with a purplish chunk of steel floating around her.
TL;DR: Lots and lots of stairs going down. You have one round to discuss things, come to terms with stuff and be alone with your thoughts before everything goes to hell. Have fun!

| [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Was it just her, or was Gen a lot more moody all of a sudden? That was weird...either way, she looked at the key and tilted her head. "Huh...I mean, I'm not gonna disagree that investigation is just as vital to hero work as fighting bad guys, but like. It would have been better to deal with the crowd and ensure a safe environment to make finding evidence easier? I mean, you found a key, which is cool and all, but like. What evidence did you find? Apart from illegal quirk usage and maybe unauthorized drug manufacturing and distribution, did you find anything that could stick to her in a court of law?" Jun wasn't trying to be condescending, but Gen was trouncing all in her field. Investigation and observation were her two big loves in the field, even if she was geared more for combat. With the lights going out Jun tensed up, ready for the next fight only to find Ylva coming back down the hole. She unballed the paper, but had a hard time reading it in the new darkness. "So...the Concoctor, whoever they are, lives here? I guess that makes sense. If they're capable of altering the timespace then they have to find a spot in realspace to rest and recooperate," she mused, tapping her chin. She would then blink at Ylva's comment; it was a real possibility, and if she was being honest it was worrying. But they made progress, so they had to continue in some manner. "Possible, but there's nothing that we can do- what are you doing?!-" Before she could stop Ylva the door was caved in. Jun couldn't help but sigh; it was something that they had to contend with, but she didn't like making a giant scene about it. Regardless, she'd follow after Ylva through the door. The number of stairs that were there, though...it was insane. Jun had heard of great underground caverns being discovered, but she didn't think they'd exist here in Japan. Everything was explored to the furthest degree here, so it felt very out of place. The length of it all did give Jun time to think. What exactly were they going to run into while they were down here? The Concoctor, obviously, what in what way? Did she have any other surprises? And Gen...if one of them were to make it out of here... "Gen, we will more than likely end up in a nasty fight down here." She pressed her lips into a line, glancing over at him. "Try...try not to hold back, but...you're not exactly built to take a hit. Stay behind Ylva as much as you can, and don't expose yourself if you can help it. I know I've told you this already, but the ring works best when you have time to focus and channel your emotions. If something is within your space...well, bad things happen." She looked at the other one that she still wore, thinking. "Ylva, we won't be able to out attrition whatever's down here. I...I don't know what to expect, but I'll need a little time to analyze and come up with a strategy. I'm relying on you to frontline our efforts if we're going to make it out of here alive."Alive. It was a word that was foul to Jun. She had been in plenty of situation before this where life or death was on the line (and one instance where she flipped the latter half of that), but this was the first time she felt afraid for her own safety. But...she signed up for this. Sacrifice was a major part of being a hero. She had to embrace that whether she liked it or not. Once they made it to the bottom, she looked around with a frown on her face. She was by no means religious, but it felt like a mockery for these places of worship to be in a place like this. Almost like their opponent was trying to deify herself. She didn't know what she was going to do, but one thing she was sure about: they had no choice but to succeed. junsuina, Ylva Riis, Kurokami Gen, Jinx, tl;dr: -Jun gives Gen some backsass -She enters the depths with her party -Tries to formulate a basic plan -Prepares herself mentally for the fight |

[break] [attr="class","nikki109"]Ylva, entirely disregarding any complaints Jun or Gen had stepped into the darkness to be greeted by a staircase. She would pause for a moment looking down to see if there was any sign of where this path led and when it was made clear that it extended much much farther than her eyes could tell she would just take a step forward and continue on her path. [break][break]
The darkness from her blackout had already begun to power up Dark Shadow, and her merged form was already starting to reflect this. She was leading the group down into the darkness, and if Jun and Gen were paying attention, they would see the inky black shadows attached to Ylva begin to grow in size slowly over time. Knowing from experience what this meant, she would pull Dark Shadow back, stripping herself of the makeshift armor and returning to her baseline. Just in time for Jun to start talking about a plan in case...no when they had to fight. [break][break]
You couldn't tell at a glance, but Ylva was actually paying attention. Well, she was until Jun expressed concerns that she wouldn't be able to beat The Concocter in a battle of attrition. "Nah, I'd win." she'd utter as they were starting to reach the bottom of this incredibly long set of stairs. Assuming Jun, like always, wasn't satisfied with her answer, she'd elaborate with what, in her eyes, was a much better plan. "With his quirk, you can make darkness, correct? If you two distract her I'll end this in one blow. That darkness around me once we're down there, and don't break it no matter what you hear." She'd turned her head slightly so Jun could see her eyes and know she was serious. "Got it?" [break][break]
Once they entered this new space, which was much larger than one would expect and likely meant another one of The Concocter's tricks, Ylva would step to the side and let the other two take point. A simple nod to Jun to let her know that she was ready, and once they were submerged in darkness, she would do her best to keep Dark Shadow under control until its power was raised to the maximum limit. No one knows what would happen to your original quirk if the person who has it dies.[break][break]
Interesting…[break][break]
Less so was the seemingly endless staircase that the group was all but forced to descend. Gen, of course, lagged behind. Best to let these two tank be his meat shield for the time while he analyzed the place. The logistics of it alone stretched credulity. She had the manpower to make such a ludicrous room a reality, but what about the funding, better yet, how did she keep this type of thing under wraps for so long. More gaps in the fucked-up dream logic that tied this place together. The path to hell was long and ardous, enough to make him rethink his approach for when he reached the bottom. [break][break]
The stairs were too many for him to climb without any psychos chasing after him. If he got to the basement before the end of the year, he might not be able to resurface, or worse… They needed a plan, but on the other hand, that involved talking to these bitches. Hmmm. Better to take his chances on his own… But then Jun had to speak, and then Ylva just had to follow suit. They were adorable plans, commendable on any other occasion, but under these circumstances, they were nothing short of incompetent.[break][break]
And there was nothing that got Gen going like incompetence.[break][break]
“That’s a great plan, gals.” Suddenly, a burst of air rattled the back of the stairs, propelling Gen above the girls until he was at the front of the conga line, blocking the emo girl’s path “If you wanna’ end up as her Servants for the rest of your lives.” He’d shoot a smug look at them, before adding. “Though I’m sure you’d both enjoy that.”[break][break]
“Ylva-chan, you’re assuming this is a straight up fight.” Three clicks of his tongue showed just how little he thought of that concept. “Think about what you’ve seen already.” Suddenly, the ring would come into view, along with all five of the young man’s knuckles. A closed fist that would soon open. [break][break]
“Mind Control.” One finger raised, that one was a gimmie at this point. “Human Transmutation.” The way she managed to merge multiple minions into one made Two. “Mist Control.” Her obnoxious showboating and teleportation made three. “Appearance Manipulation.” The two Concocters showed number four. “Gravity Enhancement.” And with that, his hand was fully open, along with the bag of nonsensical tricks that woman had paraded in front of their eyes. “Can either of you think of a single power that could fit the bill for all five of those? I can’t, and I’ve used more Quirks than both of you put together.” Of course, Gen wasn’t there for the power-up mist, so he was lacking some information himself, but he had enough to make the following conclusion.[break][break]
“There’s a trick here, and if we just go in guns blazing, you’ll be playing right into their hands.”[break][break]
“If you want to beat a smoke and mirrors type like her, you gotta’ expose the magic before you can go all-out.” Gen grasped his chin, trying to make sense of all of this bullshit. “There’s two ways I can think of how she’s doing this.” He’d spare the girls of his other theory, for now. The less he said about it the better. “The most logical explanation is of an assistant, a second Concocter; one who controls the mist, while the other controls the goons and their Quirks." He paused, before adding. "They’ll be hiding, but they’re the key to her gameplan.” He was more than aware of how much this advice applied to him, but right now, there were more pressing matters than his grift. “Root them out and you kill the magic, after that, it should be pretty easy.”[break][break]
“Your new Quirk could do that, right, Ylva-chan~?” Snapping his fingers, he then pointed at the more impatient of the two girls. “If someone bought time, you could use your shadow to scan around the room.” That wasn’t enough, was it? This was all conjecture, but even if he had solid proof of another enemy, he doubted Ylva would heed his warning. “Worst case scenario, it should give you a good angle for that kill-shot you’ve been dying to use since you got here.” The look on her eyes made that one pretty obvious.[break][break]
“Of course, if we need to waste someone's time, then there’s no better candidate than…” He paused for a moment, before pointing toward the obvious answer. “Me.” Gen pulled out his phone to reveal what he'd found earlier. “I picked up more than just keys up there.” On-screen was a e-mail, and inside of it were instructions on what to do if the dipshit on the other end never heard from them again. “Should be enough to get her attention for a few minutes… or at least it would, if I had my fucking Quirks!” A glare shot out towards the slower of the two gals. He took a deep breath, before explaining. “So if I just went out there and tried to talk face-to-face, she might just kill me in one shot.” Bringing both hands to his cheeks, he would sarcastically add. “And we can’t have that, can we?”[break][break]
“But there is one way I can buy time without any risk at all.” His features twisted into a sick little smile. His mind flashed back to a delightfully devilish little prank from a few months back. “Jun-chan, remember the last time we met?” It was a hard moment to forget. The closest he’d come to making her quit. He would’ve let it happen, too, but things were more complicated than he’d like. A compromise he had to make for someone else’s sake. “Remember that trick I did with Momo-chan~?” Oh, he was gonna’ love explaining this.[break][break]
“Ok, so here's the plan…”[break][break]
[break][break] “And that’s the plan!” Bringing both of his hands together, Gen would bring that oh so riveting explanation to an end. It was almost as long as these stairs, but with these two, he couldn’t leave anything to chance. “Unless there’s something you haven’t told me, I don’t see a world where it doesn't work out.”[break][break]
“It’s a good one, so try not to fuck it up.”[break][break]
That was the last thing Kurokami Gen said at the staircase. A few moments later, he could be seen walking into the chamber below. Taking point, he’d whistle out, impressed at the Mise-en-scène on display. “My, my. You’ve put on quite a show for us, Concocter, but its time for your curtain call.”[break][break]
[attr="class","curragebot"] Love your hate.[break] Your faith lost.[break] You are now one of us.[break][break]
TL;DR: [break] - Gen goes down the stairs.[break] - There are too many stairs.[break] - Gen hears the plan.[break] - Gen thinks the plan sucks ass. [break] - Gen explains his theories on how the Concocter is doing all of this(multiple people, multiple Quirks). | [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun frowned at Ylva's suggestion. It was a plan that she hated, partly because it grated against her own pride but also because she felt like Ylva was underestimating their opponent. While she did subscribe to the idea of the one-hit KO, to Jun it only worked if everything worked out in your favor. In this case, it was possible to get away with that...however, they were playing in the Concoctor's field. They were hinging victory on a slim margin, and if this failed, what were they going to do? And then there was Gen. His little stunt turned her frown to a full-on scowl, and his attitude was not exactly doing anything to improve her mood. That was, until he started to take apart their opponent's abilities and quirk. She stood still, thinking on what he was saying. Fact of the matter was, he seemed to hold a pretty good grasp of the situation, and in a manner he was agreeing with her. Or, something like that. She held her peace, even if she wanted to lay into Gen, and let him take point on the planning: this was something she almost never saw from him, and she was curious how this was all going to play out.
She followed behind "Gen" as he began his whole speal, walking out into the open triumphantly. "Ylva" was off to her right, waiting in the wings to spring. Gen wanted to force her to surrender, informing her that the jig was up and that even if they failed, she was going to go away for a long time. There was a lot of focus Jun had to maintain between this scene and the other pair, shrouded in darkness and out of the Concoctor's blind spot. She looked at the woman in particular, then at Ylva, then at Gen. It wasn't hard to get him to spout all kinds of nonsense, and she didn't know what was scarier: the fact she knew exactly where to target a person to perfectly bisect the heart, or the fact she knew what it was like to die by lightning. She began to approach "Gen", slowly and methodically as to not break concentration. "...I'll tell Ana I did everything I could," she says, guilt boiling within her belly as she took a step and thrust her arm through his chest, blood spurting briefly before she withdrew her arm, his body slumping to the ground. She turned, "Ylva" nearly on top of her with Dark Shadow's claws outstretched. She pointed two fingers at "Ylva", taking a breath. "「Dead on Time」!" A bolt of lightning tore through the shadows, piercing through "Ylva's" chest and out the back, a resounding thunderclap entering the space as she staggered and fell to the ground. The smell of blood and burnt flesh filled the space, very real and very visceral. Almost too much for Jun. Maintain it! They need time to set up, for the love of all that is holy, Jun...! "You said....To attain a wish is to trample over those who desired the same. To be a hero, a great one at that, you have to trample over so many people, over so many bodies to get to the top." She looked at the woman standing in the middle of the arena, blood dripping from her fingertips. "I don't know if you know this, but it's chaos outside this little space you have here. People are dying, and many more are suffering. There are others that have gone comatose and won't wake up, and so many others missing. I swore an oath when I set on this path to defend Japan and her people from all threats...and there isn't a thing I can do." She began to step forward, locking eyes with this so-called wish giver in front of her. "There is no price great enough that I wouldn't be willing pay to set things right out there. What do I have to do?"With their facsimiles lying on the ground, Jun felt alone and vulnerable. She hoped that those two would be able to finish this in proper time... junsuina, Ylva Riis, Kurokami Gen, Jinx, tl;dr: -Jun listens to the other two plans -Seeing as much of this hinges on her, she agrees -Enters the space with two massive illusions, one with fake Gen and Ylva and another effectively hiding the two from the Concoctor/engulfing them in darkness -Jun kills the fakes, demands to know what further price she needs to pay |

Alright, the plan had been communicated, the stairs had been braved through, and he’d gotten her attention. Good. Lights were in position, cameras were rolling, and…[break][break]
Action![break][break]
“Though I have to say, this has been some real amateur hour stuff from you, Missy.” He had more than a few notes for the woman. Some tough love, from villain to Villain. “If you were as all-knowing as you let on, you’d see this is Checkmate.” What a classy way to say you’ve won, ‘Checkmate’. It was nice, foreign word that only a real obnoxious piece of shit would pull out. So, in other words, perfect for Gen. [break][break]
“We’re U.A. Students, and unfortunately for you, I’ve already backed up the footage that proves we’re here.” With his disposition for the dramatic, Gen relished every second involved in pulling out his phone, showing off his lifeline to the woman. He was a little far for her to read it, but she should be able to get the gist by now, and she wasn’t, well, Gen wasn’t about to get tired of yapping at her any time soon.[break][break]
“What do you think’s gonna’ happen if we go missing? We’re not a bunch of Randy office workers that they’ll write off in the missing persons reports.” It was a sad truth of the world. Who you are, where you're born, or where you work, they afford you certain privileges unavailable to a common civillian. “All our faces are gonna’ be on the evening news in less than 24 hours!” In the eyes of the Law, all men(and women) are equal, but in the eyes of those who enforce it? Not so much. “They’ll send so many Heroes after you, that you won’t be able to concoct a pot of tea without having to deal with some boy scout out for revenge. And you don’t want that, do you?”[break][break]
“It doesn’t have to be that way, though.”[break][break]
“Everyone knows that you don’t kill Heroes, you buy them.” Even someone this powerful wouldn’t want the entirety of Japan’s law-enforcement apparatus snooping in her affairs. It was just bad business. Better to offer these pups something juicy to keep them off the sent. A bribe, and Gen seemed the type to be all-too-happy to take those. “So the question is, what can you offer to make me look the other way?” He brought his hand toward his chin, pacing from side to side, while maintaining point. “Hmm, how does a wish on the house sound? ‘Cause I’ve had mine ready since I walked in, and frankly, I’m tired of waiting for service.” It seemed like she wasn’t too keen on following the age-old Japanese adage that ‘the customer is God’. What a lousy shop she was running. Oh well, better late than never. [break][break]
“I wish for my current Quirk to never return to its original owner.”[break][break]
Quite a wicked wish, and unfortunately for Jun, it was one the one part of this performance that Gen hadn’t faked. It would also serve as a magnificent cue for a certain empty-headed broad.[break][break]
“Wh-” His eyes widened as he felt Jun’s hand passing right through his torso. “Didn’t know you had i-” There were a million things he wanted to say, but with the massive hole freshly added to his lungs, the air escaped from him. He was at a rare and all-too-ironic loss of words. His legs failed him, and with a dull splat, he collapsed to the ground, staring on with spite, rage, and a hint of respect at the culprit as she moved on to the next victim.[break][break]
[attr="class","curragebot"] Love your hate.[break] Your faith lost.[break] You are now one of us.[break][break]
TL;DR: [break] - Gen explains how the Concocter is fucked.[break] - They're U.A. students and the school already knows they're there.[break] - If they go missing, there's gonna' be a manhunt on the Concocter.[break] - He proposes instead to give the kids a bribe for them to look the other way. [break] - His stated wish is that Emotion Battery never return to its original owner, Junsuina Kanjo. [break] - Gen fucking dies, like a bitch.[break]

The Concocter had barely even moved during the minutes it took them to reach her. Other than the occasional sway back and forth as if she were sitting on a swing and the massive purple blade floating around her there was little movement in the cavern. The air was stagnant, sound seemed to echo before being swallowed up by the sheer vastness of the space and the tapestry of grays that formed the buildings, walls and ceiling alike lent a lifeless aura to the surroundings. The only thing the team would hear as they approached was the sound of their own breathing and the gritty crunch of a very familiar chalk dust under their feet with every step.
"You made it!" The Concocter exclaimed with relief in her voice, ethereally swaying to the side as she looked at each of them in turn with wide eyes and a smile. Her posture was almost hunched, as if she were waiting for the other shoe to drop. Her smile twitched when the illusory Gen began to speak.
"Checkmate?" She blinked as he continued talking. "Oh, that is unfortunate," The Concocter nodded along. "Why did you have to come here?" Her expression twisted and her tears formed in her eyes as she clasped her hands together. "I don't want to kill students. I'm so sorry"
Her head jerked sideways once, then twice and then a third time as she kept listening.
"They won't come. I'm sorry. No one can get in here without an invite. I'm so sorry. I didn't want it to be like this. I promise. I just wanted-" The Concocter shook her head. "It doesn't matter. The result won't change. Oh, I'll grant your wish though. What is it?"
Her smile returned when he explained his wish and she was just about to respond that she could and activate her quirk when Jun struck.
"H-huh? W-why?"
Horror and confusion warred on her face. Her eyes, lips and cheeks moved erratically as if she wasn't sure whether she wanted to laugh, cry, cheer or grieve. Finally her expression settled on open-mouthed, wide-eyed surprise when both Gen and Ylva were struck down in short order.
"I did? I did. I remember now but..." For a moment The Concocter was at a loss for words. "That's not what I meant. Why di- No. No, this works. Oh no, there is trouble outside as well? This is good. Who has been making people suffer and die? Does it look like me here? Like Ageru? It works. Maybe you're the one that- Haha. It worke- Yes, I was losing ho- Hmm, what? Y- No price great enough?"
With manic energy in her eyes Ageru leaned forward so far a normal person would have toppled over. Yet nothing below her hips moved, her waist almost seeming like a cut-off point for the motion.
"Ahaha! No price great enough? I know. You understand! I know. You're right. No price too much for your dearest wish. Where is she? Why didn't it work? Do you know? Is it her outside? Can I put everything back to normal? I don't know. I can't? I don't know! Come, make your wish. Try. Tell me your wish? Please, oh please. Make it count. One shot. Don't waste it. Please. Don't die. Please. Please. Please don't die on me."
Her words grew louder and less coherent the longer she went on, echoing as they rebounded between the various structures before finally being swallowed up by the vast emptiness throughout the cavern.
Further away from the center of the pristine 'arena' Jun had stepped into the pair moving to flank The Concocter might, depending on where their feet carried them, finally find something made from a different material than the dull grays around them. Stuck into the ground at various depths and in various locations were a variety of lusterless black blades. Near each were various other cuts in the ground. Places where the swords had been stabbed into and drawn from.
Over and over, many times before.
Slowly, they began to rattle once more.
TL;DR: The Concocter, now introduced as Ageru, was about to grant Gen's wish when Jun cut his illusion apart. Seeing Gen and Ylva cut down in front of her Ageru's mental stability takes a hit and she rambles her way through replying to the information she's been given with limited coherency. Now fully focused on Jun she asks what her wish is and begs her not to die. In the distance, swords once lifeless and still begin to rattle.
