"Well at the end of the day, I guess that's the name of the game. No killing, and at the very least try to also not paralyze them from the waist down while also avoiding getting shot yaself or serious burn or freezing and all that wonderful stuff ya hear about in the news."

She rolled her shoulders while bouncing up and down for a second getting ready to walk forward. Until she was stopped in her track by one simple question,

What's yer quirk?

She froze up for an attosecond and after that turned around and smiled. "My quirk is probably the most interesting thing you've ever seen in your life, behold!" After that she slightly grew some hair on the knuckles of her hand, you could barely notice and had to likely squint to see the difference.

"I can grow my hair, though I'm still working at it. Obviously not the most interesting out in the world but ya know I'm proud of it." She smiled at O'rourke proud of her display of her own quirk.

Now granted she didn't lie, but she didn't exactly show even close to the word prowess that she has or her strength of speed and frankly, that was fine. The less the overall knew about her the better, last thing she needed was people connecting puzzle pieces when she wasn't ready yet.

hat was in fact the entire trick to heroism. How to apprehend some potentially powerful crooks that were quite likely ready and willing to kill whoever they needed to without killing or maiming them in turn. Usually. Sometimes there was simply no other option but to break or otherwise kill them. It was a line Farrin would endeavor never to cross. All life was precious. From one life a dozen more might spring in the temporal equation. Some bad for sure, but others good. 

When Josephine came to a stop, so did he to watch as she demonstrated her gift. Rather underwhelming, but there had to be more to it, right? You didn't get into UAU without displaying some rather large potential. Then again, if Freja, who hadn't possessed a quirk, managed to impress her exam proctors, it was entirely possible others had done so without much use of their quirks. 

"Is it particularly strong or somethin?" He would ask, looking at the minuscule hairs growing from her hand.

If the hairs were strong enough, and if she could learn to extend them to certain ranges, maybe they could be used like living capture tape. Or even as a shield if the hairs taking damage didn't cause her pain! "I imagine once yuh' get a hold over somethin like that, that there'd be plenty o' utility to it." 

With that, he would lead them to the closest training facility. He had no intention of sparring with someone so new, but maybe she'd take interest in the tools at their disposal that weren't present outside like the villain bots he had mentioned earlier.

Jo twitched physically when he asked if it was any strong. She looked down at her knuckles and acted as if the blow to her pride had been pretty hard. Well, truthfully that's because that was possibly the hardest her pride had ever been hit for a long time. Granted she had to remind herself that was the point she wanted that reaction multiple times within less than a second, but inside she was screaming.

"Yea well, ya know one does indeed try. All quirks have a chance to have utility. It's not always about outward appearances and everything has a chance to impress in a different way."

She spoke aloud, yet for a reason or another she kinda hated herself for now and simply quietly followed along to where they were heading next.

h, without a doubt," Farrin chirped. That point had been scientifically proven. Quirks were like muscles. They could be trained and strengthened with use, no matter what form they took. The more you used your quirk, the stronger it became. A few flabby hairs today could become tungsten-strong tomorrow - figuratively. 

"When I first started usin' me quirk, I barely accelerated me pace at all. Now, I can outrun most sports cars. Maybe all o' 'em. Granted, I've been trainin it up fer years now." 

The din of battle died down as the two entered one of the training facilities. A pass through one hall, and down another, and they would press through a pair of double doors and into a large room with several stone spires at its center and deactivated villain bots lining its sides. It was in a facility just like this that Farrin had been training his ultimate move. Well, what would one day become his ultimate move when he perfected the technique. 

"This is where some o' the professors take us fer more bombastic trainin. The stony terrain makes fer a decent punchin bag when yer tryin out stronger techniques n' applications o' yer quirk. N' the villain bots on the side can be activated ta' give yuh some targets that fight back. Yuh'll find plenty o' facilities like this throughout the campus."

"Well, who knows? In that case, soon enough I'll be able to do a lot more than grow a little hair. Though I do consider myself quite capable in other talents. I suppose that's where this school will likely be helping me out the most."

She chuckled while rubbing the back of her neck. Though pulled quite quickly away flicking 'sweat' off of her hand.
"Villain bots? Well, I guess that makes sense not like you can expect everyone to stand still whyle you hit um with your end all be all moves. Though bot or not kinda feel bad for it, we make um clean, we make um run internet systems twenty-four seven and we also make um fight us to eventually lose. I feel like we're only i dunno ten years away from someone getting into politics to solely say give bots rights."

She thought about it for a second and then an idea hit her head.

"So why are you here anyways like overall reason? Ya girl or boi or in between a hero? Parents? Just found um really interesting and figured it beats sitting at a desk?"

h, the eventual machine uprising. The subject of many a film, all perfect examples of why true artificial intelligence would be a big mistake. Of course, Josephine hadn't touched on that particular topic exactly, but its what came to Farrin's mind. Right now, these machines were unaware and unthinking. They were created and existed to perform tasks so that that sentient beings wouldn't have to, so he didn't feel particularly bad about blowing them up. It was no different than sitting on a chair because it was designed for that purpose. If they could think, truly think, however, then they as a society would need to reconsider everything. 

"I fer one welcome our machine overlords," Farrin joked after nodding along with Jo's previous assessment of her quirk. Yup, she definitely could grow it out longer in time - or at least that made sense to him. And then, there was the topic of him. Why he was here and what drove him to be a hero. Not his fondest topic of conversation. 

"Eh, me Mum was a hero back home. Wanted ta' be a hero since I was a wee lad, like many others, but she really inspired me ta' go out n' try ta' help others." 

It was the short version, trimmed of her passing, his father's betrayal, and sifting dreams of another life where Oberon was the hero. It was a hero name he had to live up to, defined by time itself, apparently. Having seen the things he did, he wasn't sure the venture was possible, but what else was there now but to try? He'd lost pretty much everyone and everything. Only up now, right?

"You say that now until one of those machines got a scythe and split ya from bottom to appetite. On the bright side, we got some time before that ends up being a thing."

Let's be honest here if that did end up being the case, they were likely going to need every single hero and student in this place to fight. They'd still all get beatdown, but hey at least they can say they came out swinging and went down swinging together too. Still, that'd definitely be a gruesome way to go, she always saw herself going by a redhead or blue hair one or the other was probably gonna end up taking her out.

"Hmm you mum was ya hero, my mom is my hero too so we have that in common. I guess you could say I wanted to do what I could to help people. You can only do so much in a soup kitchen or passing out blankets and ill be damned if they ever try to put me in an office wearing a whole bunch of constrictive clothes. All because of some stupid dress code, I'll be real with ya the less clothes I wear with this quirk the better, being in a bunch of clothes is a nightmare!"

She stretched quietly. Having to change the topic after realizing that she was getting a little close to the personal personal stuff. Hey maybe one day she could talk about it, but for now, probably wasn't the best option.

t least I'd go out quick," he shrugged. "Bright side n' all that." Farrin thought himself more of a realist than an optimist. Hell, realistically he leaned more towards pessimism, but whether it was a giant robot adapted to execute quirk-kind or the newest big bad villain on the block, this career choice wasn't for the weak of heart.. or body. Most heroes didn't live to see thirty years old. That wouldn't be his fate. No. He and Sada were gonna grow old and have a family one day. They just had to make sure the world was a safe place for that family first. No small task, but one he was intent on making a reality. 

"Yeesh, can't be a fun drawback ta' work around," he responded to the clothing comment, "especially in the winter." 

Yeah, sifting was bad. Really bad. Chronokinetic overuse saw Farrin dealing with cognitive overload, where he saw countless versions of the same moment from across time impress themselves in his sight and senses, which sort of short-circuited the time-turner. Yet, somehow, the idea of needing to wear minimal clothing, especially when hero outfits could be so useful, seemed pretty comparable. Doubly so for someone with lady bits. Though, that thought sparked an idea. 

"Might be an idea fer' yer first piece o' hero gear. I'm sure the support department could whip up an outfit wit' threadin loose enough fer yer hairs ta' poke out through. Should at least run it by 'em n' see what they think. Wanna head over there?" 

Either they were heading to the support labs or back out to explore the main lecture hall. Either way, Farrin was quite ready to give Jo the rest of the tour, but personally, he would press for the support labs. If Kei was there, he was sure the lad could help the new girl out. That would be quite the day one to her UAU tenure, whipping up a proper hero outfit.

"I didn't mean the bright side was that you go out quick, the bright side is ya still have some time to get a little more experience and power under ya belt so the scythe don't get ya."

Jo stretched following him sighing a bit while it seemed that there were no second thoughts about the performance of her quirk. It may have absolutely shattered her self-worth at that moment, but at least she could keep her secret. Though he did have a point, in winter time it wasn't the best handicap. Having to weave a small layer of hair between yourself and the vigilante outfit of the month was always quite annoying.

"Ya know maybe I should hit someone up there about some hero gear, would be a bad place to start after all."

Obviously, she couldn't actually hit up anyone that wanted to work for the hero org due to her past, but that didn't mean she couldn't find someone else outside of all of this.

"It's not the best drawback but you'd be surprised how much better moving out of the way of things it makes you. So yea let's head over there!"
