9:53 am - Past Miyagawa ShichiroAs the policeman turned his away and continued with the checks Shichiro wondered whether he truly should go look for the masked stranger once more. He'd left to go take care of things and given Shichiro a job to do. There wasn't much time left before the speech, could he even afford to be distracted right now? Shichiro didn't want to take the risk. Looking at the policeman's broad back as he reliably finished everything on his list Shichiro was reminded of a scene from mere minutes ago. Like both Tsutomu and Gabriel before him Shichiro too squared his shoulders. He had to do this himself, there was no time. He'd put the bomb in there, he could get it out. Without any further delay he speed walked back to where he'd put down his toolbox. He had no idea what he'd do with the bomb once he'd gotten it out but that was fine, right? The important thing was getting it out of the stage. The masked hero could take care of it, right? Surely relying on him a little more was fine. --- 9:54 am - Present Kamiya TsutomuIt was a very familiar feeling. One that instantly brought him back to the past. To a time where he was still much less successful. A time before he'd joined the police when he'd been but a misguided youth doing petty crimes, long before Chief Tamotsu had put him back on the right path. Yes, this was not the first time Kamiya had felt the press of iron against his back. Yet it didn't feel any less terrifying for it. "Tch, you're with them aren't you?" Kamiya more said than asked with a definite edge to his tone. "I don't know how you found out but things won't go your way. The detonator's inside the station with the chief and there's no way anyone can get to him before the speech." His next breath came out lighter, as if a weight had been removed from his shoulders. It was as if he hadn't truly believed his own words until he'd spoken them. He knew though. Even if he died here, someone else would continue his mission. He wasn't alone in this and he wouldn't yield to this stranger. If it cost him his life then so be it, this was much bigger than just him. "It's over for you. Do as you must. I am prepared to die for what I believe in. Can you say the same?" --- 9:56 am - Present Miyagawa Shichiro
He'd done it. His heart was still beating a mile a minute but no one had caught on to the fact that he'd removed the bomb. If he'd taken a moment to think it through he'd have realized it was only normal. He was the one responsible for assembling the stage after all, doing a final check and removing some planks to reassemble them more strongly wasn't all that out of the question. Even so these had been the most stressful few minutes of his life. Now all he had to do was find Chirp again. He'd been running around for who knows how long -perhaps a minute, perhaps 10- with no way of keeping track of time, desperately hoping no one would set it off before it was out of his hands. There."Sir, sir. I've got it. I took it out of the stage. Please, you have to take it. I don't know what to do." Maybe the masked man could throw it into the nearby river. Maybe he had a special way of getting rid of it like a bomb proof box or perhaps he could bury it. Shichiro didn't know and he was panicking too hard to think of any of these things. His hands shook as he held the box containing the bomb, his breathing so rapid it was clear he was mere moments away from hyperventilating. ------ Tags: CHIRP ♪♪

Darn, another swordsman. As someone with a lot of experience using all manner of weapons Retsu knew one thing above all. It wasn't the tool, it was the person behind it that made it strong. Cocky as she might be she was well aware this was her first time using anything sword-shaped in combat and she wasn't likely to come out on top. Luckily she didn't need to. "Be careful not to choke on your aspirations, bouncer."Her left arm came up to head height as she rushed towards the needle-wielding obstruction on a path that'd take her straight to Rhea once she was past him while also making sure to keep a wide berth around the guard tending to her target. She waited until she was just out of the swordsman's reach before throwing her blade in his direction and changing course to dart past both him and Rhea. After all, the blade was only a blade so long as she kept it in her hands. The power she'd been granted that let her shape light only worked so long as she touched whatever was generating the light. The moment it left her hands it was exactly what it was before quirk trickery. A flashbang. The charge wasn't anywhere near full and wouldn't have nearly the same effects as a proper one but it was more than enough to provide a moment's distraction. With her eye squeezed shut and an arm in front of her face it affected Retsu even less as she pumped her legs to make it to the other end of the alley. With some luck she'd be home free. ------ Tags: rhea

The reason children appeared invulnerable compared to adults when it came to surviving falls was that they had yet to develop the instinct to tense up in response to danger. The human body was normally flexible and fairly shock resistant but clenched muscles weren't nearly so and didn't provide great padding for bones either. Retsu was used to rolling with the punches. This wasn't her first fall and while she hadn't ever had one this bad she knew what to do. So she let herself go slack, exhaling and letting go of the controls so to say. Would it be enough to survive the fall? Who knew? It wasn't like she could do anything else though. "Brace yourself!"Retsu flinched, every muscle in her body tensing. 'Ah shit.' She had but the briefest moment to realize her mistake before Shion crashed into her, the impact driving the remaining air out of her lungs as it set them both tumbling down. If nothing else, Retsu thought, the impact negated a lot of her momentum. She'd have flown much further if not for this. Either way with her previous plan a bust it was time to adapt. Her right arm was trapped between her and Shion but she could at least use her left to soften their fall. Sticking her hand out right before they hit the ground she felt the force of the impact travel up her arm, cracks resounding as her wrist bent awkwardly causing her little finger and ring finger to break. She briefly wondered whether Rui's healing had caused the other three to be stronger. Using her arm to turn their fall into a vague approximation of a roll she caught another big part of the fall's force on her elbow causing another crack to resound. Rubble slipped beneath it ruining the roll and turning it into more of a skid instead as she landed on her side, the grenade-filled bag jamming into her ribs when she hit the ground fully. For the sake of her sanity she pretended it was something inside of the bag that she heard break. The rest of their fall was a haze, too much happening in too little time for Retsu's mind to keep up. When they finally came to a complete stop she let out a pained groan. Given that she was still conscious she could at the very least say that her helmet had done its job. "Argh. Ya know wha? Ah think ah owe ya a drink." Pushing herself up with her good arm she took stock of the situation and comforted herself that at the very least the big lug's arm was in a much worse state than her own. Then a spike of pain shot through her when she tried to put weight on her leg. "Yo, ah'm gonna need ta borrow y'r shoulder for a bit. Think mah leg's broken."Which was really bad timing given that their opponent was clearly getting ready to pull something and whatever it was she doubted it was good for her. Instinct said to run but Retsu firmly disagreed, her teeth grinding together so hard at the thought that it was audible. Running would just get them killed. Her eye flitted over their surroundings, desperately trying to find something that would let them survive the spikes that she had the distinct feeling were gonna fly their way any moment now. A manic grin crept its way up her face when she spotted a solution. It was insane but it might just work. Tapping Shion's shoulder she nodded her head in the golem's direction. "This is gunna sound stupid but we need ta go t'wards it. See that arm o'er dere? If we ken get behind it we should be good."Her mind didn't stop ticking however just because she found a solution to the most immediate problem. No, there was still the problem of the golem's continued existence to deal with. Leaning closer to Shion she began to whisper. "Ah've got an idea..."
TL;DR: Retsu lands alongside Shion and incurs heavy injuries in the process. They hobble towards the golem's severed arm to get into its safe spot and have cover while working on a way to strike back. ------ Tags: Fanthes , Shion Utsui , Claudio Bernardo , Elijah , Emilia Hall

"H-help!" The man closest to Retsu shouted to his friend while backing away from the villain. His only reply was a pained shout followed by a thud as the man was hit by May's arrow and dropped clutching his ankle. "Look, either ah get mah phone back or y'r droppin' as well. Make the call an' make it quick."Before Retsu could say another word the man started fumbling for something under his coat and after she knocked the pistol he grabbed out of his hands without breaking eye contact the next thing he handed over was, in fact, her phone. " There, that wasn't that 'ard now was it?" She said before pulling her fist back and clocking him in the face. "That's fer the effort. 'Ave a good day."
With that she stepped past him to the other one, kicking his gun down to the ground as well before moving towards the emergency exit the two had propped open with a brick. Walking through she kicked the brick out of the opening and slammed the door shut behind her leaving the goons trapped in the side street with the hero. Taking like a fish to water was a common expression for someone well suited to a specific circumstance. Fortunately for Farrin taking like a shark to ice was not and 'fish sticks' groaned in discomfort as his mobility on land was reduced to something far more similar to the species his quirk made him resemble. "Why- does- he- keep- going- for- my- nose-?!" Fishsticks cried out between blows, his voice slurring just a little bit more with each blow before he finally toppled over awkwardly, his legs somewhat holding him up even as the rest of his body refused to cooperate. With Sif down for the count as well their numbers were cut in half and the tide was decidedly turning against them. Even less fortunately for the mustachioed man Retsu had dragged down with her when she leapt towards Farrin the smoke cloud left him unable to realize this fully. With an arrogant huff he twirled his mustache and pulled out an entire needle-shaped spear as long as his arm and made of bristly hair. Throwing it in the direction of the vaguely Farrin-shaped silhouette deeper in the smoke he turned towards Retsu, drew another spear and took a fencer's stance. "I'd apologize for not offering mercy but a ruffian such as you is undeserving. En garde!" With a wet squelch Retsu pulled the knife that totally wasn't hers out of Sif. "If ah didna know better ah'd say ya love the sound of y'r own voice."On the other side of the alley the bug eyed teen and the lanky blond man had a slightly better idea of how things were turning out. Sharing a nod the former stood in front of the latter with their arms raised into a guard stance that looked highly unimposing with his rather short frame. For the second time this encounter the blond one inhaled deeply, sucking in a mix of air and smoke as he pulled out a lighter. Clearly obscuring vision wasn't his goal this time. ------ Tags: Farrin

Movies tended to make things seem much more cinematic than they were in reality. It seems obvious when explained that way but even so people still hold a great many misconceptions on how real gunfights take place. On the big screen they always show heroes rushing through a hail of gunfire, bullets whizzing all around and flying so close they brush the characters' hair. A few smart movements meant the difference between life and death, a dodged bullet or an abrupt end to the story. It never happens that way outside of the screen. When Retsu rushed for the fridge she certainly heard the sharp cracks of gunfire all around but to see bullets whizzing past? Nah, those were a bit too fast for human eyesight to pick up on, let alone for reactions to allow them to dodge. Perhaps some specialized quirkers could do so, a thought that felt sour in Retsu's mouth, but she sure wasn't one of them. Nor was it likely one bullet would take her down unless it hit something really vital. Most often adrenaline hid such injuries and it'd take minutes to bleed out. In fact, going down instantly when hit with a bullet was most often a psychological thing. A great many first encounters between armies using guns and ones still employing melee weapons saw the latter keep going for quite a while before they went down, oddly enough too unaware of how damaging a bullet could be to have the good courtesy to go down. All that and more raced through Retsu's mind as she in turn raced through the street, the thought echoing with every step she took that she might already be dead and just hadn't realized it yet. She shelved the thought. That was a loser's mentality and wouldn't do her any good. If she was wrong it just dragged her down and if she was right the realization wouldn't matter. Instead she hit the ground and slid the last bit of distance to the fridge, rolling to slam her side up against it just as she heard the ladder hit the ground. Which unfortunately meant she couldn't enjoy a nap. No, she had to get back up and at them. Fortunately as she raced for the ladder she noticed her newfound ally was quite the crack shot and really, there wasn't much left for her to do. She supposed it made sense. The woman had introduced herself as Artemis which meant one of two things. Either she was one of them hero types or Pantheon had gotten itself a Greek branch while she wasn't looking. Given the lack of lethality in her shots she'd put her money on the former, which also meant Retsu herself had to skedaddle the moment this situation wasn't so hot anymore. She'd gained quite some notoriety during Operation Babel and highly doubted her disguise would stand up to much scrutiny once they were somewhere with better lighting. Her movements up the ladder were more akin to flying than climbing, each pull of her arms or kick of her legs containing her full force and carrying her up at a speed she wouldn't have been able to manage without adrenaline coursing through her veins. A clatter atop the metal platform she was climbing towards informed her that Artemis had successfully knocked a gun out of the nearest goon's hands and not a moment too soon as she just reached the top. Instead the man resorted to kicking and nearly dislodged her when his foot came down on her shoulder. Two could play at that game however and letting go of the ladder with one hand she made use of his unbalanced state to pull him down and send him the full two and a half meters to the ground. He'd be fine. Besides, she had more pressing concerns to worry about. Namely getting her phone back and booking it. "Artemis! Check on the dude that dropped, ah didn' 'ave time to soften 'is fall!" Not that she would have if she could, honestly, but given that the fight was moving into melee range and the guy firing from the staircase on the opposite side of the street had lost his weapon as well and was fleeing the scene Retsu would rather not catch a stray arrow to the back. Turning to the guy closest to her as she dragged herself up -the same one that had stolen her phone- she grinned menacingly. "Jokes aside, nah, ah'm still good fer now. Well, either that or de adrenaline's makin' me not feel it. Any darker spots on mah back?"
Briefly peeking her head over the dumpster before immediately dropping back down as a hail of gunfire rang out she side-eyed May. "So, naht ta be ungrateful 'nd all but is there any reason ya decided to get pinned down 'ere too?" Then as if completely unconcerned by the imminent death firing their way she extended her hand. "Retsu, by the way. Ah'd say noice to meet'cha but circumstances are lacking, ain't dey?"Patting her pockets with her other hand the results came out a little too empty for her liking. At this point she was resolving herself to just bring her explosives with her no matter the occasion. Getting caught by police couldn't be worse than getting caught up in this with no decent ranged option. Except... "How good's y'r aim? Don' reckon dey'll let us go peacefully so we're prolly gonna need ta knock some sense inta em if we wanna get going. Think ya ken hit the thing holding the ladder up dere?" She asked while pointing vaguely in the direction of the ladder, albeit from behind the dumpster and without sticking her arm out beyond its cover. "Cause if so ah ken get ya a distraction. On y'r mark."Should May agree Retsu would slam her hand down atop the dumpster and angle her arm as if she's about to leap over it before rushing out sideways instead, her full focus on sprinting towards an overturned fridge laying further down the side street and much closer to the ladder. ------ Tags: May Twenty-First

{Entry Forty-three, Day Seventeen: Rocket assisted bludgeoning device.}
There is a time when any creator must realize that they have strayed too far from their original goal. That they have become obsessed by whether they could and failed to consider whether they should. Unfortunately for all of Tokyo Retsu was never the most introspective sort and she wasn't about to start today. Instead she made more than a dozen variants of the dumbest weapon she'd ever had the pleasure of putting together so far. A rocket hammer. She could justify it so long as she didn't think too hard about it. Dynamite had seen use in mining for as long as it existed and hammers were used to craft with the ores retrieved from mining. Certainly, combining the two took things a bit out of order but was modern technology not all about removing steps of the process, streamlining it all into one thing and getting stuff done? Yeah, so long as she didn't look too hard into it the whole thing made sense and gods knew Retsu was trying her damnedest not to. That said she wasn't the only ones trying to ignore things that were up in their faces. Both the ENKI member sitting next to her on the bench lining the side of the van and the driver at the front were doing their absolute best to ignore the large amount of unsafe looking explosive contraptions scattered around them. Retsu paid no mind to them and instead put her hand atop her makeshift workshop to stop it from sliding down the middle of the van as they came to a stop near their target. "So, ya still up fer this?" Retsu asked the one sitting opposite her, Taro, as the engine shut off. "We ken fin' another way ta test dese if need be."She elaborated while waving her hand at the various hammers littering the floor of the van. One was little more than a shaped charge atop a wooden haft, another just a regular hammer with a packet of sulphur and chlorate attached to the head whereas a third had thrusters not unlike the ones on Taro's boots strapped to the back. That was not to say those were the weirdest designs present however, no, there were others that barely fit the word 'hammer' at all and even then only if you squinted. Regardless of which ones were about to be used however crime scene investigators would have their work cut out for them making any sense of the upcoming disaster of a robbery. "Alroite then. Plan ain't changed. Should be a safe on the other side of that wall o'er there. Got zero clue about whether dere'll be security this late at night 'r not. Get in, see 'bout smashin that safe 'nd get out. Good luck." Retsu said before cracking open a can she'd grabbed from the mini-fridge built into her 'travel workbench' during the explanation. She had the distinct feeling she'd need some alcohol in her system before the night was out. ------ Tags: Taro Yamada

"Hey, get back here!"Just one day where nothing went wrong. Just one. Was that so much to ask? Apparently it was. Retsu wasn't even doing anything wrong this time. She was just out for a walk, hood up and sunglasses in place of an eyepatch along with some fancy earrings she'd normally never wear all combining to make up a makeshift disguise while she went out to grab some dinner. But no, on the way there some pickpocket just had to snatch her phone. Whatever the reason she was in no mood to let that fly. Chasing the thief through the streets her anger got the better of her and she failed to notice they'd veered out of the busier area and into one that while still near it had far more empty streets. Case in point, the side street she'd just chased the terrified man into. "S-she's here! Help!" That sentence was the one that tipped her off that maybe there was a bit more to this than a stolen phone and that perhaps it wasn't so much the resale value they cared about but the fact that it was her way to call in help through ENKI. What really removed all doubt however was three people popping out of the shadow from where they'd been hiding a floor up on the emergency exit stairs and opening fire on her while a fourth pulled up the ladder even as the guy who'd stolen her phone was still climbing it. She just narrowly managed to throw herself to the ground behind a dumpster before she heard the sound of metal on metal as bullets impacted it. "Fook. How the hells am ah gonna get outa dis one?"

She was almost home free now. The whole hostage solution seemed to have worked, which would've been a relief to Retsu if she didn't get the distinct feeling she was about to be screwed over. She didn't know how but something told her this wasn't over yet, it was never that easy. The question then was what the hell the telekinetic menace was planning next. Her eyes flicked to the ground. The one covered in enough glass to make several large windows out of. Which, coincidentally, was exactly where the shards had come from. Funny how that worked. "Fook."
Yeah, she wasn't getting past that unscathed. No way in hell was she going to try that, no thank you. Turning into a glass pincushion wasn't on her bucket list and she had the feeling that if it came to that she wouldn't exactly get to make a bucket list anymore either. Given that she didn't know whether she was dealing with a hero, vigilante or fellow villain Retsu wasn't going to risk doing so and dying. She'd have to make utmost use of her meat shields and speed advantage to get out of here in one piece. "All right fookers, looks like the wanna-be hasn't 'bandoned their senses. Good for y'all. Ya might get to live. Now ere's how dis is gonna go. Y'all are gonna line up nicely in front of the store with y'r hands spread ta the side so the cops dun mistake ya for a threat and off y'all after ah went through all this effort a sparin' ya. Move, chop chop!"Sitting down on her bike she kept her gun aimed at the hostages and her eye peeled for a possible threat. Albeit with an entire windowed corner of the store in between the barrel and their bodies as well as wherever her opponent had run off to. Retsu waited until the five were standing spread out at arms length from each other and more importantly, standing atop and in front of the majority of the glass shards caused by the abrupt opening of several new entrances into the store. With some luck it'd prevent her opponent from shredding her or tossing too many of the store's contents at her. After all, hostages get panicky when shit's being flung past their head and might just move in the way. She just hoped it'd be enough. Either way she didn't have more time to think about it. It was do or die. Already sirens rang in the distance, the whole place would be swarmed by cops in moments. So without further ado she revved her bike and sped off with screeching tires, pistol in one hand and bag hanging from the same arm. Whether or not she'd make it out only time -and her opponent- could tell. ------ Tags: Arataki Noa

"Darn, y'r one hardy fella ain'tcha?" Retsu laughed as her opponent crawled out of the wreckage. She cast a glance behind him as she palmed a concussive grenade, pulled the pin and let it cook for a second or two. "Peeps behind you over there ain't are they? We'll find out if ya dodge."With three seconds left before it went off Retsu put her full strength into the throw and aimed it right at the still recovering Heavy Arms. She wondered if his insides would stand up as well to the shock waves released by her concussive grenade as his outside did to her sticky. With some luck they didn't. She hadn't brought all that many grenades and she'd be miffed if she had to waste half her arsenal on the first goon she ran into. Then again it would provide some interesting info she could use to improve them further. Either way she'd roll with the punches, just as she always did. With some luck she could get some assistance from her fellows as well. She'd taken a glance at them earlier and they didn't seem to be in any trouble whatsoever. ------ Tags: Webby Rui Matsui Jackie Maradona

Some myths were propagated to the point of being commonly accepted as true. That did not make them any more factual. Goldfish do not have a three second memory, dogs don't see in black and white and a shark's weakness isn't it nose. Nevertheless getting hit full in the face hurts and the shark man reared back in result, shaking his head as if it could get the pain off his face. With a furious roar he struck at Farrin a moment later, the huge telegraphed blow clearly packing a punch. Despite how easily the start of the strike could be seen however its arrival would not be as clear. The lanky blond man finished his inhalation and belched forth a veritable cloud of smoke obscuring the bottom two meters of the alley. The smoke curled and almost seemed to dance, the effects of the bug eyed teen's hallucinogenic eyes becoming all the worse for the lack of other things to focus on. At the same time the mohawked woman, Sif, snorted in reaction to Retsu's words. "Hah! You really think you can handle me? Y'r already down on the pavement you cocky bitch!" Kicking off towards Retsu and lashing out with a clawed kick to the head she caught her manic grin just a second too late. With a swift motion Retsu reached behind her back and pulled the contents of the sheath hidden on her lower back free. Bringing her combat knife up in front of her face she could see Sif's eyes widen as the woman only narrowly managed to pull her kick enough to stop herself from severing her own talons. Unwilling to let the opportunity go Retsu lunged at her just as the cloud of smoke reached them and sank her blade into Sif's kidney eliciting an ear piercing scream. "Careful, dey've got knives!" Retsu shouted vaguely in Farrin's direction even as she reared back a fist and slammed it down into Sif's face bashing the back of her head against the concrete. She gulped right after to keep the contents of her stomach inside. Yeah, the hit with the bat had definitely given her a concussion. ------ Tags: Farrin
