Sipping her cup of coffee while browsing through correspondences Hebiru had skimmed Sonya's message at first before going back and rereading it in full. She supposed it had been a while since they'd last met. Keeping her message open on a separate tab she went over the rest of her inbox to see if anything else that was important had come in. Given that it didn't seem like it she decided to address Sonya's request first.
"Hello. Yes, I got your mail, Chernovna-san." Hebiru tittered. "I'll be there, I'm sure my assistant can handle the rest of today's matters. Yes. I'll see you soon."
While her social life wasn't the best, both due to her profession and her lack of interest in needless conversations, she was still more than aware it'd be rude to show up in her work clothes. She let out a small sigh. Her apartment wasn't exactly close to campus but it wasn't far away enough either that she could justify not changing her clothes.
"Shirei-san, I'm heading out for now. Call me if anything comes up."
"Yes, Yanai-sensei!"
Heading home she browsed through her closet for something appropriate. Failing to find anything on the first check she lowered her expectations and checked again, still not seeing anything that would be appropriate to wear. She furrowed her brow. Even though it had been a while she had attended formal events in the past. Where was- Ah, yes. Closing the closet again she went over to her bathroom and spotted it on the outside of the door. She vaguely remembered using a coat hanger to put it up there after her dress had come back from the cleaners. Oh dear, that had been at least a month ago. Had she left it there all this time?
She supposed it'd be fine. Taking it out of its cover and doing a check just to be sure she quickly entered the bathroom to freshen up before changing into the blue long dress. She checked the time and noticed she still had more than enough to walk there instead of calling a cab. It wasn't like she had to worry about sweat anyway with her unique biology.
The venue Sonya had chosen was quite unique but from what little she knew of her Hebiru supposed it'd have been more surprising if it wasn't. It took her a moment to get through the crowd and she certainly noticed how twitchy the girl greeting her when she entered seemed to be.
"Hello, I do believe the one I'm meeting is already inside."

"Ah, thank you Gotoh-sensei."Shirei replied with a half smile while pulling a foldable chair out from a gap between Hebiru's desk and cabinet. "D-different? I suppose so but isn't it normal she'd be a bit different now? She's working really, really hard to get better and well, you know how her quirk is, right? Ah, Yanai-sensei, Airi-chan has told me about her quirk outside of my internship, I'm not doing anything wrong by mentioning that, right?"
"That is correct. Please continue." Hebiru answered with slightly narrowed eyes. She knew Shokuhou well enough by now to be aware of her speech pattern and found a rather disturbing anomaly, or more specifically, words used in a different context from how she usually spoke.
"Right, of course." Shirei said while nodding. "Airi-chan's been really worried about how to become a hero with a power like hers and I get that, you know?" The girl continued honestly. As Hebiru and Sadako had previously noted Shirei's own quirk wasn't ideal for hero activities either. "So she's been pushing herself really hard recently so, well, it only makes sense she's a bit different from normal now, right? Airi-chan asked me for advice so I've been making sure she sticks to a balanced training schedule that keeps her health in mind like you taught me, Yanai-sensei." She concluded while looking at Hebiru, a finger slipping into her collar to loosen it while she wiggled in her seat to find a more comfortable way to sit on the creaky chair.
Hebiru refrained from answering. Suspicions were starting to form in her mind but she maintained some hope that she was wrong and that the situation was not quite as dire as she thought it might be. Breaking eye contact with Shirei she instead looked to Sadako to see if the school counselor would like to continue asking questions. Should she not Hebiru would take over but she had the distinct feeling, call it intuition, that doing so would lead to some irreversible changes. She'd much rather see if Sadako could find a solution before she stepped in. There was no need to confront her assistant with her suspicions just yet.

"I understand your concern. Please rest assured however that as the school's primary healthcare provider I have full access to every student's medical records and that under patient confidentiality laws there are no problems sharing data when consulting with other professionals in regards to a patient's health." Yanai replied in a tone that made it clear she was parroting regulations almost word for word before she gestured to the papers atop her desk."As such there is no need to refrain from accessing these, miss Gotoh."
Opening a drawer she pulled out another print-out, her eyes flicking back and forth as she skimmed it until she found what she was looking for.
"Indeed. I suspect Shokuhou makes up for the lack of flashiness with her personality."She added with a chuckle."Ah, here it is. Shokuhou left a copy of her schedule here. She does not have classes for the next few hours and should be checking in soon. Let us make sure Airi's paperwork isn't in the open when she arrives. I'm afraid confidentiality does not extend to student assistants without written permission."
Gathering the files back up after they compared notes for a few minutes the clock hand was just about to tick up to the hour mark when a series of knocks to the tune of a song resounded.
"It's unlocked, come in."
"Good morning, Yanai-sensei. Ah, you too Gotoh-sensei!"
"Good morning, Shirei." Hebiru nodded back while Shokuhou placed her bag down in between two ring binders with practiced ease, the bag fitting perfectly into the empty space. "Can I help with anything?"
"Perhaps. You are good friends with miss Airi, right? Would it be alright if we asked you about her?"
Hebiru asked while placing the girl's file back into her drawer, not missing how Shirei freezed for just the slightest moment as Airi's name was mentioned.
"O-of course."
"Perhaps you'd like to start, counselor Gotoh?"

Armed with a metal tray filled with gauze, cotton balls, tweezers, a scalpel, antiseptic, needle and thread Hebiru sat down in front of Freja.
"This may sting a little, miss Helt. Shirei, could you hold her arm steady?"
"On it." Shirei replied, attentively paying attention to Freja the entire time she talked. Picking up a cotton ball with her tweezers and coating it in antiseptic Hebirugently dabbed it over Freja's wrist injury to disinfect them. All the while Shirei did her best to keep their patient calm.
"Ouch, always sends shivers through me to see an open wound, he he. Don't worry though. It's only a brief sting." Her heterochromatic eyes looked straight into Freja's own, ensuring without a doubt that her words would be true. "Oh, you were out with Farrin? What's he like? Are you two friends, or like, friends friends?"
Shirei asked with an innocent smile and starry eyes, enthusiastically nodding along to Freja's words.
"I see, I see." She replied with a look that clearly showed she didn't. "So you ran into actual villains, huh. I'm kinda jealous... Oh, sorry. That's rude of me to say when you've come back all injured isn't it?"
"Shirei, other arm." Hebiru interrupted without looking away from what she was doing. Changing out her equipment for a new cotton ball she continued on with full focus the moment Shokuhou did as she said. "Your injuries are not as bad as they look, miss Helt. You will need stitches here and here but we can take them out again in five days. One moment, I seem to be out of anesthetic spray. I'll be right back."
With the wound cleaned out Hebiru nodded and walked into the store room next to the infirmary. The moment she was out Shirei turned back to Freja.
"So then what happened?"

Taking Jun's vitals didn't take all that long. More than a decade of experience made itself known and within minutes Yanai was filling out the results on her clipboard. While it was far from enough to draw a proper conclusion from nothing jumped out to her as particularly worrisome. "We're well funded, miss Kanjo. The school will cover the costs. After all, it's bad PR if you drop dead in the middle of training." She answered with a soft chuckle in the same tone someone would suggest it could be a good idea to bring an umbrella because it might rain. "But I digress. I don't have anything planned for the next hour or two so please don't mind me. It'll be good for me to get some fresh air once in a while."She spun her pen between her fingers before gesturing for Jun to continue. All the while she made sure to watch her from the corner of her eye to see if there were any movements or twitches beyond the norm- or worse. Her gaze briefly went up, drawn to the sky above as a flock of birds flew by. It never ceased to intrigue her. The intuition ingrained in their genes that allowed them to fly, the instinct that led them to move in groups, flying down invisible paths plotted out time and time again throughout the ages. Looking back down at the field she spotted a few students performing similar exercises as miss Kanjo and wondered how much of it was ingrained and how much of it was chosen by themselves.
Above all, she wondered whether she'd ever be able to follow along a similar path without it feeling off.

Seeing the bloodied and battered student enter her infirmary Hebiru put her cup of coffee down and grabbed a pair of gloves.
"Oh my. It certainly does appear that way, Helt-san. Please take a seat on the bed so I can take a look. Shirei, please bring my tools."
"Right away lady Yanai."
Stepping closer to help Freja out should she need it Hebiru walks with her until she's taken a seat. Calmly taking account of the girl's injuries she ranked them by severity to determine the order she'd need to treat them in.
"It seems like there's quite a story behind these." She said with a soft smile. "Let's start with your arms before we pull the knives out. It is good that you've left them in. Shirei, if you'd please?"
"Of course." The blonde girl replied before looking their patient in the eye. "Freja-san, right? I think we've crossed paths between classes. How are you feeling?"
While she spoke Freja's pain slowly seemed to fade into the background, still there but no longer seeming to be quite as intrusive. Nodding along to Freja's reply she gestured at the bed along with her next words.
"Here, lemme put your bat somewhere safe. It looks great by the way. Please relax so doctor Yanai can begin. Oh, forgive me if I'm being too nosy but would you mind telling us what happened?"
While Shirei was distracting the injured student Hebiru arranged her tools, gauze and thread on the nightstand next to the infirmary bed before she slipped on a pair of nitrile gloves.
"Shirei, don't be such a busybody or I'll have to ask you to wait outside. Don't worry, Helt-san. Shokuhou is my official assistant and bound by the laws of confidentiality just the same as me. That said, there's no need to humor her." Hebiru tittered. "Either way, there's more important matters right now, yes, Shirei? Let us not delay any longer."

"Coming right up."Hebiru replied as she pulled another cup out of her cupboard- one with cat ears and a handle in the shape of a paw that had been given to her by a student. "Busy as always. You know how the hero students are, always putting others' health over their own."
Bringing the steaming mug over to her colleague and taking a sip of her own blend she listened patiently before making her way over to her file cabinet. She remembered the girl but it couldn't hurt to have all the info at their disposal.
"Airi you say? Yes, miss Shokuhou helped bring her to the infirmary just..." She pulled out her phone to check the date. "...two days ago. If I recall correctly it was due to quirk overuse. You believe outside factors may be influencing her?"
While pulling a chair out for Sadako she sat down on her own, put her cup down and opened the girl's folder onto her desk. She thumbed through several pages of older records before getting to the relevant ones. Those she laid out next to each other for easier oversight.
"Hmm, let's see. Her family situation appears stable albeit the records may not be up to date. Might be worth looking into? She does not appear to be involved in any extracurricular activities requiring the use of her quirk so I believe we can safely rule that angle out. Unlicensed hero activities are unlikely as well. My assistant, Shokuhou Shirei, is in the same class as Airi and from what I've seen they're close friends. I highly doubt she wouldn't intercede in something like that and she can be quite persuasive.
Hebiru feigned a smile as she looked over to Sadako.
"It is part of the reason she applied as my assistant, her quirk is very useful for calming anyone that's panicking too much to receive proper medical care. But I digress. While she certainly seemed lethargic and anxious miss Airi showed no signs that she was hiding something the few times I saw her in the past two weeks. Before we start speculating however shall we compare notes and see if anything stands out?"

Every doctor knew that the substance that saved the most lives was coffee. A staple within the medical field to the point it could be considered an addiction, coffee was what kept medical professionals on their feet for countless hours, their contributions to the cause ensuring they had an honored place within any hospital or infirmary. Hebiru's place of work was no exception to this rule. One of the few things she'd insisted on bringing in herself, the machine responsible for creating the divinely ordained beverage was exorbitantly expensive and overused to the point of requiring frequent maintenance.
An illogical, wasteful expense for someone that could barely enjoy the fragrance of a freshly brewed cup and barely took the time to taste them before downing cup after cup like they were water. Even so it's not a purchase Yanai Hebiru has regretted in the slightest. In fact, it's likely paid for itself several times over in circumstances such as these where Hebiru noticed the next workday had already begun before she finished everything she'd been working on the previous day.
She supposed there were silver linings to her physiology, bitter a taste as the thought left. There was no way to feel sore due to sitting for hours when you did not have muscles after all. Eager to put such thoughts behind her she watched her twelfth cup of the day fill drop by drop, each having extracted what it needed during its journey through the granular path and making a greater whole than its parts after the result of both passed through the immaculate filter deep within the intricate machine. She was just considering which file to go over next when a visitor made their way into the infirmary.
"Never, miss Gotoh. Please do come in."She replied while feigning a genial smile. "How do you like your coffee?"

She'd have to add it to the profile. "I'm not here to slow you down nor to get in your way. Once we have a proper trajectory you will be able to improve at a much faster pace than you would yourself."In truth UA's concerns were almost as much about the young hero succumbing to their worries and never reaching her potential again as they were about her overdoing it. A fine balance had to be maintained and there were few people more qualified to assist than Yanai Hebiru."For now let us keep things simple. While we can't establish a baseline properly due to you already being in the middle of exercising if you'd allow me to take your vitals now we will at the very least have something to go off. I'll then take them again after each set to see how they change and with some luck I can prepare an updated plan for you by tomorrow."Tapping her lip while thinking she took a moment before clearing her throat."If I am to be honest however I believe it would be much more efficient to wear a monitor while exercising. A wrist band to record your blood pressure, heart rate and body temperature for example would allow you to train at your own discretion and should you agree to send the records to me I can simply text or mail you updates for your consideration as well as respond quickly on the off chance something goes wrong." She pulled a pen out of a pocket within her coat and slung her bag over her arm while rummaging through it to find her notepad. "If you'd like I can provide you with a doctor's note to have the support specialists prioritize your order."------

She wasn't getting through to her at all. Feigning a long suffering sigh she decided to let the matter rest. While she'd certainly been hoping to convince the student now she'd deemed the chances fairly low from the start. No matter. Pushing on at this point would cause her to instinctively push back and Hebiru knew much better than to try and force things when other approaches would work better. "If I put someone that could use assistance aside because someone else might require it I would not be able to help anyone." Hebiru tittered. "But I won't insist further. Know that if you change your mind i'll be available whenever. Should you not have it in your phone yet my number is in the student handbook and I can be reached twenty four seven. That said, I am obligated to ask that you at least keep the guidelines in mind either way."Her brow furrowed upon hearing Jun's next words. She made a mental note to request copies of the hospital's correspondence with her patients to limit the chances of miscommunications taking place. While she didn't want to assume the problem laid with them she'd rather be certain than make assumptions."Did the hospital not provide you with the guidelines when you were discharged? Oh my, how troublesome. I'm afraid you've caught me unprepared, I did not think to bring a copy with me."Scratching her cheek she pretended to consider how to continue for a moment. She let out a thoughtful hum while bending to pick her bag back up and taking the folder she did prepare out."Ah, forgive me. I almost forgot to give you the dossier. If it's inconvenient to take with you right now I'll have it delivered to your dorm room instead." She lied. As much as dropping it off at her dorm would help Jun's recovery it was likely to do the opposite for Kaida. "I'll have a copy of the guidelines ready for you by tomorrow morning. As much as they are indeed called guidelines I would however recommend following them to some extent. As much fun as converting and kitbashing is- Ah, is that word still used? I digress. As a doctor I can certainly understand how taking something apart and putting it back together can improve it. That said, miss Kanjo, I'm certain you'd be reluctant to let an amateur loose with knife and clippers on your models. A certain degree of pre-existing knowledge and experience is required to attain a good result. And while I certainly am not informed enough on your studies to tell you what to do and what not to do I'd like to advise caution. You only have one body after all and I have heard from a reputable source that replacement parts are... What's the term? OOP?"Hebiru hid her mouth behind her palm and half closed her eyes while letting out another soft laugh. How curious. She'd unintentionally gone on a bit of a rant. She put the thought aside for later consideration, if nothing else mulling over the reason for that might be an interesting way to pass the time. On the note of time she pretended to check her watch."But this old lady has taken up enough of your time. I won't bother you any further- for now. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, no matter how small or large." She leaned in and winked. "Overtime pay is pretty good here so there is no need to keep the hour in mind when you do."------

I've received your medical records from the hospital so there is no need to do more check-ups in addition to your mandatory ones."She waved the thought away as if it were silly, her lips scrunching in understanding as she did. Many of her 'colleagues' in the medical field tended to be grossly inefficient and simply upped the amount of work they could perform in the patient's presence instead of properly using the attained data to come to a conclusion, extrapolating from there and then running more tests to fill in the gaps and confirm their hypothesis."My duty here as UA's school nurse is to ensure everyone is in the best condition possible to follow their ambitions. Rest assured I won't get in your way. I'm simply here to help you get back up to a hundred percent as quickly as is possible without causing further damage to your body." She made sure to look Jun right in the eye as she continued. "Because make no mistake, miss Kanjo, there is still a serious risk of recurring problems should your training regimen be increased too rapidly. In my professional opinion there are two trajectories we can choose to pursue."She raised two fingers, pointing to the first with her other hand and wiggling it as she talked before repeating the same process with the other one."The first is to continue on and slowly increase the intensity of your training according to official guidelines. This option will require minimal oversight but may not allow you to recover in full at the speed you desire. The second would be a more hands-on approach. If you permit me to accompany you during your training I can take your vitals through non-invasive means at various stages throughout it and my authority will allow me to adjust your regimen on the fly. So long as you are, in fact, getting better as quickly as you say this method may allow you to safely increase the intensity at a pace beyond what you would be doing yourself, albeit at the cost of having to deal with my presence."Hebiru chuckled before pointing to her third finger, still curled up. Holding her hands steady she let all outward emotion drop from her face before frowning and nodding in the direction of her bag."I'm sure you've noticed I did not mention the third option: continue setting your own pace as you have been. That is because it isn't a reasonable option. I've brought a dossier with me for your perusal containing the histories of various sportsmen and sportswomen, several soldiers and police officers as well as a single retired -and now deceased- hero.
