For the first time in the several weeks that Calli and Kiyo had known each other he had something different on his face. Instead of the blank, emotionless look his lips adjusted themselves into a small smile. Having someone with so much conviction believe in him wholeheartedly wasn't something he was used to. He could tolerate the ridicule and had no problem dealing with those who were judgemental, approaching it with the same unbothered expression. "I should be the one thanking you." His eyes would meet hers briefly before he went back to eating, listening to her explain her future plans.
He understood his friend well, perhaps more than he ever had before. Whether Calli was aware of it or not she was basically a samurai in mind already. Her benevolence being the most prominent part of her that shined brightly and he could help but admire that. In fact he would vocalize this to reassure her even if she didn't need it "I believe that is admirable. If I can assist you in any way, I would be honored to do so." He didn't quite understand why she was fixated on him teaching her. Did she not understand when he said he wasn't skilled enough to teach her properly? Calli did not strike him as someone who was shy, in fact she was the opposite in every sense of the word. "Then I will work hard to become someone worthy enough to teach you if you desire." another slurp of noodles before it was time for him to catch his own, returning the favor that Calli had done for him twice now.
He didn't hesitate to answer her question "A proper samurai." There was no other thing that was more important to him and his parents had, in a way, challenged him to do just that as he wasn't suited to work for their support company...or really do anything else as he was currently. Kiyo was surprised Calli agreed so quickly to take up the blade when he asked "I would be honored to teach but I don't believe I have the necessary skills at this moment to teach you." He'd pause, tapping his temple before he reached into his clothes and pulled out a strip of paper that said 'RAINCHECK' on it. "I didn't understand that term before, but I believe it customary to give a 'raincheck,' for situations like this." Assuming Calli took it he'd dig in, surprised at the unique texture of the noodles and how much better they tasted here. Was this why people had friends? If so he was happy Calli had offered to be his.
He was about to tell her that fact but instead catching a glimpse of her blushing. Passing her his untouched water he would gesture for her to drink it if she was hot since of course that was the only reason she'd be read. Swallowing what he had, he would add "I've heard that it is customary for friends to talk about things. What would you like to talk about?"

Kiyo would have said something about the sigh, but being as dull as he was, he figured if something was bothering her, she'd say something. Even more so than that, it would have been rude to make assumptions about what was going on without being told it was okay first.
Kiyo couldn't help but be impressed by Calli's quickness. He would watch how fast she grabbed the noodles and ate them before remarking "Have you ever considered taking up the blade? You are very quick." It was the closest thing to a compliment he could give her only for him to get more confused when Calli gave him some and said 'dinner date'. He would sit there for a moment, the gears turning in his brain before it clicked. "Oh, I can ask a waiter or waitress to see if they have dates. I apologize. I didn't know that was something you wanted to eat."

He was stopped by Calli, who grabbed his shoulders; she was much stronger than she looked, that was for sure, and her barrage of questions confused Kiyomaru. He would stare at her blankly before he replied "Are those things customary to friendship? I have had more than a few suitresses invite me to participate in those things, and I have obliged." He's not a virgin, he would have thought? "I am more than happy to- Oh we've arrived." He wouldn't finish his sentence instead holding up the door for Calli for them to enter the restaurant and once they were situated he would pick up the instructions, brow furled as he tried to understand exactly what the rules were for this place.

Having made a quick detour to drop off his stuff back at his dorm, Kiyo walked alongside Calli through the streets of Tokyo. He was feeling uncomfortable and it showed on his face but not perhaps the way Calli would have expected. The rules were that he wasn't allowed to bring his weapon with him outside of campus except for special occasions approved by a faculty. However, a samurai shouldn't leave their home without their weapon as that was dishonorable. The wheels in his brain that had gathered rust were turning; which was more important? His bushido or his bushido?
"I apologize for the silence I have been thinking." Rare for him "I have never had Nagashi Somen but I am intrigued by the premise." He couldn't pass up an opportunity to be more active in snatching his food out of a flowing river, super samurai-esque "Do you enjoy Japanese cuisine?"

Kiyo would turn to make direct eye contact with Calli, still unbothered by her quirk in action as the only thing he was feeling was exhaustion from working out for so long without a break. "If that is what you desire. As I said, I am still in your debt, so you can ask anything of me, and I will oblige. I stake it upon my honor." He would give a slight head nod as he continued to make eye contact.

With the Sports Festival over and Kiyo having...not done so well, he was determined to change that. He was in the training grounds with weights on his arms and legs doing some practice swings and working on his form. He wanted to improve in every aspect, from his technique, speed, strength, etc.
It was fairly empty at the training grounds which gave Kiyo an idea. He had made a promise on his code to let Calliope Pavlina use her sorcery on him and if it worked as well as it did when she described it it might provide some good training. He would stop his training for a moment to send a message: 'Calliope Pavlina, I am at the training grounds and wish to repay my debt. Please meet me here if you have time for it - Kiyomaru of the Fujiwara Clan' and hit send. Whether Calli replied or not he would continue on, focusing his strikes and building up a sweat in the process. So much so that he would remove his outer jacket to him gym uniform and wrapped the sleeves around his waist.
