Grinta raised some good points. She pointed out how stupid it was to use her as a benchmark for power and perhaps rightfully so. To Freja, anyone with a quirk was a monster, she was someone who lived amongst monsters and freaks of nature every day. The fact that some quirks were better than others at certain things was a nuance she never stopped to consider. Quirks are scary, full stop. That was all she could think about. Heck, mere months ago she wouldn't even have been brave enough to draw her weapon against someone with a quirk and yet here she was getting herself into some stupid trouble and over what? The more Grinta lectured her, the dumber she was starting to feel for having stepped in to begin with. ''Anything?'' She looked down at the bat she hadn't been able to reach before. ''All I've got is my bat.''The part about resources Freja hadn't even considered. Vigilantes were really left to fend for themselves weren't they? She briefly thought back to her meeting with Guts and the other Hummingbirds, how they had saved her from a villain attack and housed her for a night in their community, completely changing her perspective on vigilantes. Grinta was doing a similar thing here, blurring the lines between criminals, villains and vigilantes with how she was acting. ''..Yeah, first year.'' She looked down at the ground, ashamed as she pondered Grinta's question. Why, why did she continue to use that excuse? Was it for her own comfort? Just because she was depressed and defeatist? ''I guess I...'' She sighed, ''I've just been looking at the facts all along. Others have a quirk, I don't.. But you're right, it's not like that'll change or anything, I have to find a way forward in spite of all of that.'' She looked over at her bat again. ''Can I have my bat back?''Jackie Maradona

[attr="class","hiraeth"]私は世界を変えたい | [attr="class","achee"] [attr="class","castleonthehill"] ❝ Grinta tilted her head. A bat was all she had, was it? Perhaps, in the superficial view, that was indeed all Freja had to name for herself; a blunt object capable of bashing heads in, with little more beyond that to be said about her. Though, to the vigilante and her endless escapade to pick apart everything that stood before her, little was there ever a time when things were so one-dimensional. From the darkness above the two, there descended the machine once sent away from their attention. Now it returned to its master, holding in its fabric what appeared to be a drive of sorts — kept safe in a plastic bag, as if already prepared for this night's scene. If Grinta's words were to be believed, this piece was the "deal" she had set herself on prior to their encounter. What was stored on it, though, only the vigilante knew. Or, at the very least, she was the only one capable of bringing out the most potential stored within it. "Shou say shou're loo'ing at the facts — but I couldn't disagree more." Placing her hand right before Freja's eyes, the vigilante snapped her fingers. She didn't touch her, but it was most certainly an invasion of personal space. "Do I look li'e I'm 'just my quirk'? Do I look like just some i'iot who re'ies on the basics I'm inclined toward', without e'er doing things I hated to change?"She snapped her fingers again. "No; I 'pent 'leepless nights working and learning. I threw away months, shears of my life in the pursuit of change, shu''ing out eve'ything that made me 'me' so I could, later, return as a combination of the ideal." And then, even now, she still felt short of that goal. Though, as her cloak now stretched out behind her, like a set of wings blocking out the light of the moon, she couldn't help but feel the weight of those times again. But it wasn't the same as it was before — it was a burden she could now proclaim as something she'd endured and defeated. Once again, Grinta snapped her fingers. "Take shour bat, for eshample; is that the best ver'ion of it shou could have? Could shou improve the design in some way? Could shou even learn how to design things beyond shour bat?" The vigilante would move her hand even further in Freja's face before snapping her fingers again; this time, however, her thumb flicked against the girl's forehead. "Shou may not see that path, but I promise shou that it's there. All shou need to do is build it, believe in it, if shou want to make that i'eal a reali'y."Finally standing up from her squat, the vigilante offered a bound hand to Freja. "Do shou be'ieve shour path, 1st-Year?" |

Freja eyed the plastic bag curiously, but only for a brief moment. She had already long since given up on bringing justice against Grinta. The vigilante had already made it clear that Freja wasn’t strong enough, but she had also pointed out how the hero student had been quick to judge her and just jumped into action assuming she was a villain. She flinched when Grinta snapped her fingers. “How am I supposed to know? I don’t know the first thing about your quirk, or most quirks in general.” This woman was frustrating as hell! Was working hard really the answer? That seemed laughably simple. Freja couldn’t make sense of some of what she was saying and not just because of the accent, and yet, her words were resonating. She was receiving her wake up call, her wake up call to get her shit together and stop making immature excuses for why she’s weak. She had to stop wallowing in self-pity. She flinched again, “Y-Your snapping is freaking me out!” She pouted, inching backwards just a little bit. A quiet “ow!” Escaped her as she was flicked again. “I get it! I get it!” She rubbed the spot on her forehead where she had been flicked. She looked down at Grinta’s offered hand before taking it. “I do.” She smirked, feeling weirdly reassured considering she had just lost a fight that could have been to the death. “I think I know what I need to do next.” Jackie Maradona

[attr="class","hiraeth"]私は世界を変えたい | [attr="class","achee"] [attr="class","castleonthehill"] ❝ As the vigilante's cloak wrapped about her shoulders, closing carefully around her collar, she met the gaze. Perhaps astonishingly to the student, Grinta was nominally shorter than they were; coupled with the concealing nature of her cloak, Grinta wasn't nearly as imposing as she'd demonstrated herself to be. Though, the eerie smile of her digital countenance, as well as the accompanying crossed-out eyes, still held as a disquieting stare. That was the truth to Grinta, really. More so than the ideals she held as her identity, and even more so than the means she acted upon that vision, was the provocative demeanor she held herself. Not in the form of sexuality — no, she had no interest in that sphere — but her next to poke and prod the things that appeared before, whether they were deserving of it or not. To her, there was no point in simply letting things be as they were; to be "good enough" was to never be enough. Mediocrity wrought nothing but passivity and inconsequentiality, a conclusion that lacked in all the things the vigilante strived for. It was so that she looked upon the student as someone of her ilk. Though she lacked a quirk, she had still become part of something so prestigious — even if Grinta's vision of that establishment was adverse. If she could manage that much, then there was surely more awaiting her if she continued down this path. As Grinta's cloak handed the bat to its creator, she focused on meeting Freja's gaze. "Word of advice; turn the 'ook into a pin that expands out i's claws, and put it in the length instead of the top." Playfully, she'd try to tap the bat to the student's head. "It won't give shou away, and shou can put shour weight into launching it pro'erly." It could also act as a piercing attack after landing a clean blow, but that might have been a tad gruesome for a hero to intend. Having offered the bat back to its owner, the vigilante took a step back. She offered a nod. "Maybe get gloves to pull shour bat back to shou, I don't know. Just do something so shou don't drop and lose it like an i'iot."Lowering herself into a crouch, Grinta sighed. Whether or not Freja would figure things out, she didn't know. She was satisfied with her attempt, at the very least, but the choice of success wasn't hers to make. That responsibility fell to the one who now wielded the bat. "Try not to die like an i'iot, too," she'd say with a laugh, a laugh tainted by that edge of sincerity. And with that, she shot up like a rocket into the sky, the thrust of force sending her upwards into the blackened sky. |

For some reason this entire time, Freja had felt as though Grinta was well over 6 feet tall. Maybe it was because of how intimidating she was? Did she just exhibit a lot of tall girl energy? She blinked her eyes as she was finally handed her bat again. Words couldn’t describe how relieved it made her. To be without her bat she felt helpless and weak, almost as if the weapon itself was her quirk. At least, she imagined that’s how a quirk user might feel if they lost access to their powers temporarily. She looked down at the bat as Grinta gave advice, almost as if she could visualize then and there exactly what the vigilante was saying. It was smart. Honestly, Freja was a bit embarrassed, she was hardly a weapon designer, but she had had a big say in how her bat, BBB had been crafted and tinkered together. She was so hyper focused on listening that she didn’t even realize Grinta would playfully tap the bat against her head until it hit her. “Ow.” She muttered, even though she clearly wasn’t hurt by it. “..Right. Thank you, I’ll think of something.” Gloves wasn’t a bad idea, not only would they be useful, but they would eliminate her biggest fear, that is, losing the grip on her bat at the most critical moments. Had Grinta been just a little more of a murder hobo like she had initially suspected, the student probably wouldn’t be alive right now. “I-I won’t!” She exclaimed, holding her bat a little tighter. She had already died like an idiot once. Not only did she owe it to the kindness of Grinta’s mercy, she owed it to original Freja to live on no matter what happened. What came next was completely unexpected. She had seen the vigilante levitate earlier, but she hadn’t been sure then if she was just hallucinating out of sheer terror, or if her quirk actually allowed her to fly. She got her answer when Grinta blasted off from her hunched position. Freja couldn’t help but let out a startled yelp. Was it her quirk or some gear? Honestly, it didn’t matter. Putting her bat away, Freja put her hands up to cup around her mouth as she shouted to the rapidly disappearing criminal. Hopefully she heard her. “Thank you!” Jackie Maradona
