Antonio as he grew up had a rather odd upbringing, as he was always surrounded by people who had much flashier or interesting or powerful quirks.  He and his friends and classmates and peers all idolized the professional heroes of the world, fighting bad guys and saving people as much as possible.  Heck, Antonio was probably a bit more obsessed with his friends with how much comics and manga he had read as a younger kid, reading all these fantastical stories about self-sacrifice to save people in the name of all that is good.  On the other hand, Antonio was treated less than his peers as his quirk seemingly during these years didn't really do all that much. 

Sure it allowed him to be physically stronger, but as he nor his parents understood the full transformative effects of his Mecha-Man quirk it only was just that for him.  Even other kids who marveled at first soon realized that his 'Cool Robot Parts' were underneath his skin, and soon bullied him for being as worthless as Quirkless people.  Some even saying even less than Quirkless because Antonio always tripped up Metal Detectors, needed specialized nurses and doctors that had a deep understanding of robotics in order to treat him, and his entire locked up if enough fridge magnets were attached to his body.

It made Antonio feel worthless and put a chip on his shoulder, as he was still fascinated by the quirks of the world all around him.  He wanted to be like the many heroes he saw on the television, read in the comics and manga, heard from the peers around him.  So much so that he was willing to shelve his own interests and hobbies in order to work harder than most in order to become a hero, spending the majority of his time at the gym, exercising and jogging around the neighborhood, and even getting into spats with the local delinquents.  So many delinquents he fought to the point where many considered him a delinquent too, and soon their comments washed off of him as he was proving his own physical strength and maintaining it. 

Then a big advancement happened that opened Antonio's eyes around the age of eighteen, only when one of the specialized nurses he worked with offered to make him specialized cybernetic gear that could work with his body as Antonio still aspired to be a Professional Hero.  And through their experimentations, not only did they learn that Antonio's body was a perfect testing ground for cybernetic experimentation as he was a perfect recipient for such augmentations, but they also learned that he was able to transform aspects of his body to fill niche roles that were very stereotypical of robots.

With the two of them partnering up, Antonio was determined to make it as a hero to help save as many people as his large hands could reach out towards.  Graduating school and then immediately applying overseas to UAU for three years, Antonio was on track to make a name for himself...

Antonio spent several years at UAU in order to both hone his skills and team up with Equipment companies to make use of his adaptable robotic body.  Antonio through his own hard efforts found more and more success, the majority of his days either were split in the lab and gym to improve upon his body OR out on the streets where Antonio made a name for himself as IRONHEART, THE FULLMETAL HERO.  Antonio grew larger and was able to equip more powerful cybernetics the more he trained and used himself as experimentation.  All the while, despite his more destructive tendencies causing his Hero Agency to barely return profits, Antonio was growing a cult following in his heroics in a multi-state area within the United States.

That all came to an end during a rather destructive Bank Heist gone awry from foreign villains took place in the city Ironheart was stationed at.  Him and his partner were tasked to chase after these villains, and as a distraction the villains launched an attack that destroyed a considerable section of a multi-storied building.  Ironheart left the chase to his partner as he rushed towards the building, holding the building up from collapsing in on itself to give the people within time to get out.  As he held up the building, the strain put on his body as Antonio pushed his quirk further than he had ever gone, far past the limits he found his body had during his training and lab experimentations.  Outputting so much energy through his body, quirk, and the cybernetic armor he wore pushed him far past his breaking point...  That it felt like something exploded within his chest.

It was an intense, indescribable pain that Antonio couldn't attribute to anything in particular at that moment, but he pushed through that pain to ensure that everyone got out of the building.  The following hour felt like a blur as he felt fatigued far more than usual as he checked on each of the civilians, time seemed fade away and Antonio just...  Dropped.  Fell to the ground without a pulse, much to the dismay of the civilians and emergency service workers in the area.

Antonio only awoke several minutes later, still feeling like garbage as paramedics were around him with a defibrillator. He was awake for only several seconds at a time, before dropping back into a death-like state. And again, and again, and again as the defibrillator was used; resuscitating him the first time every time, but only in short spurts. After countless attempts to resuscitate him on site, he was finally brought to a hospital and his specialized doctors were called on the case. It was only then that they discovered that Antonio's own heart, the only organ in his body that was affected by his Quirk's capability in treating it like a power source and generator for his own body, had burst apart. This discovery and the defibrillator resuscitations allowed the specialists to understand that Antonio was still alive even though all his vital signs should indicate death, all he needed was a charge.

Finally brought to a proper state of being awake, the situation was explained to Antonio in grave seriousness.  As much as he wanted and needed to continue being a hero to help others, he couldn't last too long without being plugged into an electrical source.  Heck, he would need an excessive amounts of car batteries if he wanted to walk unplugged on his own since his body's energy needs became more and more excessive as he improved his body.  He would be fine for several hours a day, though any use of his quirk drained his own personal energy quite drastically.  Car Batteries only provided an hour's worth of energy to Antonio, creating quite a financial drain just to be able to live normally.

And thus around the age of twenty eight, Antonio had to retire and had to return his cybernetic augmentations for these health reasons.  For someone his age he had quite the sizeable nest egg to rest on in normal circumstances, even more so since he was compensated for the cybernetics and hero gear bought off of him.  With his body taking up an exorbitant amount of energy and the need to continuously buy and recharge Car Batteries for spare bursts of energy, that nest egg drained pretty fast. 

Even moving to Japan in order for a better cost of living and more affordable energy still did little to stop his energy leeching from causing his funds to go into the red.  There were weeks at a time when Antonio went offline due to having to budget out his own energy, only being awoken by EMS who read his emergency tag and plug him back into the wall.  

Even his engineering partner tried to build replacement hearts, but none of them were able to withstand the heavy drain of energy his body now expected.  Even to the point where his partner in the pursuit of trying to make a stronger, more compact power generator to make a replacement heart for Antonio caused a technological failure which ultimately took her life.  Leaving Antonio ultimately on his own to wither in his Japanese apartment, barely making enough to even function properly in society if he limited his actions to reduce energy consumption to the utmost degree.  The death of his engineering partner caused Antonio to go into a deep depression and caused him to spiral, asking more assistance from the government as a wounded retired hero... 

But rejection after rejection after rejection made him reflect upon his life.

Antonio reflected at how much he endured to get to the heights he had attained, being able to show up the bullies and haters back during his school years to be a relatively successful professional hero.  Reflected how much he personally sacrificed to reach such heights to have the strength to save others, as outside of his hero work nowadays he really held no hobbies or social life.  Reflecting on the guilt he felt towards his partner's death, as all her efforts in helping Antonio get a new heart went underfunded and ultimately caused a tragedy.  Reflected on his loneliness after spending all of his time in a career profession he had so much passion for, and ultimately left abandoned like a broken robot after his final close friend was given a closed casket funeral due to the accident.  

This isolation and resentment caused Antonio to shift his ire towards the Governments supporting the Hero Association, ultimately enticing younger children to throw themselves into the Hero Course Grinder.  Suffering through so much in order to be rewarded with the bare minimum for helping others, and those who are broken are left abandoned in order to support newer, stronger heroes. With an anger towards the Government-backed Hero Association and its failings towards fallen heroes, Antonio felt like there was a new calling to his life that seemed to coincide with him wanting to feel more alive.

With renewed vigor, Antonio was gonna finally live for himself.
