Two decades of solitude can really mess with a person–and Yukine is no exception to this. He tends to be quiet, but only because he’s often lost in his own little world. His broken speech embarrasses him, too. (It’s been so long since he’s interacted with society, so it’s a little like trying to open a door with rusted-over hinges.) Once he’s engaged with those around him, he’s incredibly friendly, brave, and eager to help. A little odd, no doubt, but overall quite virtuous.
His time alone diminished any sort of filter he had, though– Yukine is quite observant, and pulls no punches when he notices something (often at the expense of being blunt and mildly offensive). He hasn’t a malicious bone in his body, however (or any bones, for that matter), so it’s generally easily-forgiven, easily-forgotten.
Yukine’s friendliness frequently crosses into over-friendliness, clinginess and even codependency in extreme situations. He was alone for so long that solitude now terrifies him… and he’d rather annoy someone with his constant presence than risk being abandoned again.
He’s protective of the ones he cares for, easily compelled to violence for the sake of good– and, while this may be ideal in some contexts, Yukine’s loyalty could be his downfall. He’s a people-pleaser above all, and could be coerced into villainous acts if the right individual is trying to persuade him.

As a being whose body is electric, Yukine’s appearance doesn’t fit conventional human parameters. In its natural state, it looks like a crackling human silhouette of black or white, with two holes where eyes would go (crackling the opposite color of his body). Their natural form tends to be temperamental (and runs the risk of shocking anyone nearby), so it appears very scarcely. Mostly, he remains in the walls/in the wiring of whatever building he inhabits, exercising his will over the electronics that are plugged into the outlets. When out, it crackles and fluctuates in size, fizzling at the edges.
What people see most often would be Yukine’s exo-suit– a robotic full-body prosthetic that he can pilot to interact with the world. Presently, he occupies a small, humanoid suit that stands at about two feet tall. It is dark gray at the joints with orange plating from head-to-toe. Its face is a small LCD screen which presents different chibi-ish faces as a means of emoting/emulating speech. A visor sits just over the screen, like the bill of a hat, with two white accent stripes running down the middle of the suit’s head. Two fins protrude on either side of the head, which raise and lower like rabbit ears. It is hoped that, with more time, the creator of the exo-suit can build a bigger/more humanoid shell, but for now this works just fine.

Yukine remembers very little from before his death. He thinks that his life was pretty normal. He knows that he had a mom, a dad, and an older sister, but he can’t remember their faces or names. He thinks they even had a dog. He had to have gone to school, because every child does… and he hopes that he was a good student… but he probably was not, because Yukine knows that in life, he was very sickly. He remembers being in The House before he was even part of The House, laying in bed, being tended-to by his mother and a host of medical professionals. His parents poured so much time, money, and resources into making their son better… to no avail.
Yukine died in The House. And that was the beginning of his problems. You see, when most people die, that’s The End. Whether they go to Heaven, or get reincarnated, or something else entirely– their present life ends.

He remembers the nurse’s scream as she witnessed his Quirk manifest, the bio-electricity that once powered his body forming the specter that now loomed before her. It expanded as it searched for a new vessel, any vessel that could contain it. It arced towards the nurse, but she fled. Then the wiring in the walls of the house grabbed hold of Yukine, entrapping him.
Initially, his parents remained in the house– for weeks, perhaps, or months– and Yukine tried to talk to them, making the lights flicker, switching appliances on-and-off. Electricians were called, first– but they found nothing. Then, spiritual counsel from all denominations were summoned– but their attempts at “cleansing” the house did nothing for the literal electric being that now rattled around in the walls.
Unable to find a solution, the living Yukine's family fled, believing their son’s vengeful spirit was now after them. For the year following Yukine’s death, they tried to sell the house at a discount, still fully furnished. But with each visitor, Yukine would cry for help, and any potential buyers would see the apparent poltergeist activity and flee. The power was shut-off, trapping Yukine in the home, and the house was left permanently abandoned.

He watched as the dust built and the yard became overgrown, as the ceiling sagged, as people scurried past, and as he was forgotten.
