悔み。 Like a bullet passing through a lump of raw meat, the billiard ball destroyed the creature's physical form as it made contact. Viscera that was Toto's burst off like an organic balloon puffed up around a spinal cord, a clean hole being bored through the midsection which contained the eyes. It would have been a disgusting sight, had not those chunks of alien flesh turned into shards of wood that fell harmlessly to the ground. Toto's many legs turned into the brush of a familiar cleaning utensil, a broom that was now broken in half. Now released from the orifice, Shion's unconscious body lay face-down on the pavement. A faint red lining appearing like an exposed vein on their skin. The blue and red lights of the police car washed over all three of them, making the violence of the scene appear all the more surreal in the darkness. Ghouligan

The creature exploded into bristles and splinters, falling to the ground like one would expect a broom to. Somehow, there were more questions than answers. Antoine would only take solace in the fact that he had saved the hero. If that wasn’t what happened, he’d come to find out soon. He’d scour the news over the next few days to keep track of this boy’s future.

The lights were blinding. The cops pulled out their firearms, aiming them at Ghouligan. He had done his job. He didn’t need to hurt anyone else. And in order for them to wave their white flag, they’d have to understand the gap between them all.

Ghouligan put his hand on his chest.

Shoot.

And they did.

Before reaching him, the bullets stopped. You could see them spinning against the air before they came to a complete halt and fell to the ground, harmlessly. With shaking hands, the cops backed away. They knew their place.

The red flash from Ghouligan’s chain went unnoticed. It hid between the flashing lights. He walked deeper into the alley, eventually disappearing from their sight.

Free of the monster, the police would examine the bodies and begin the report. The hero was still alive. An ambulance would arrive shortly. The lawyer, however, had passed. And they collected the pool ball that had been used to kill him.

荒廃。 [Now Playing: In Heaven] 12 hours later The light of midday shone through the window, a pale white sky that had no visible sun hosting sparrows that sought food to sustain their short lives. If Shion could have compared this atmosphere, it would have been like newspaper, soaked by torrential rains before drying out in the sun where the words could no longer be read properly. The police had come and gone from his hospital room for questioning. Normally he would have been fined for such an action- daring to help someone through their quirk without a license. However, the circumstances dictated that Shion was acting in self-defense somehow. It didn't make sense as he was the one to jump in, but maybe this was a perk of being an individual groomed to become a hero. Alone in his hospital bed, the youth was bandaged all around his forehead, left arm, and parts of his back. Contact with the ground had not been kind to him, especially with the amount of force the vigilante had used to subdue him.  Why am I still alive? Was it a stroke of luck that he had survived? No, even hopeful thinking was pushing it. The masked man that was able to crush the lawyer's head with a billiard ball, would have without a doubt been able to do the same with a rod to Shion. It was clear that he had deliberately been left alive. This isn't how it was supposed to be. His chest began heaving, the chipper and upbeat composure he normally possessed breaking down entirely. The ugliest of sobs, a far cry from his usual voice, broke out as tears that felt enough to form a pool fell onto the white sheet. A civilian died but the hero lived? And out of all people, his life was the one that was saved? This couldn't happen. This couldn't happen. That's what Shion told himself. With the condition he had since Mion's death, his quirk, he couldn't let someone else's life be sacrificed in place of his own. Never again. Ghouligan
