| E xperimentation, in his view, was the first step to figuring anything out. You could observe, of course, and often times that was the real first step, but it was mighty hard to observe your own possession.
Leaving the apartment was tedious enough. Wearing his typical clothing with an over-the-shoulder bag smacking against his side with every step, however, somehow grated his nerves even more than the ridiculous chatter of people around him. He could hear their conversations and, unlike most every other time he was around civilians, he couldn't just phase through them. No, he had to stand there and listen to them chitter-chatter about the meaningless things in their lives.
Worst of all, their conversations weren't even entertaining. No broken hearts, no sudden revelations, just... people and their average chats. If he had a yen for every time someone brought up the weather, he would never want for money again.
All of this to say that going to the forest of all places was not going to be a happy trip, but it was a necessary one. He could possess people. He knew that fact of life quite well, and previous experience had told him that he was rather good at it too. The question was if he could take over animals.
Mind, he had never tried. They were filthy little things, incomprehensible balls of fur and fleas and possible diseases. He could attempt it on a stray dog in the city, but... as much as he loathed animals, hurting a dog would just be asking for someone to come out and beat the snot out of him in return.
So, he had to find animals that no one was attached to. Which meant going to the forest.
Which then meant finding a somewhat comfortable place to lay down, close his eyes, and throw his consciousness out of his body with all of the eagerness of a war draftee.
A few animals had skittered close. He knew ants weren't going to be viable targets given how small they were, but bees were also not possible, and neither were butterflies. Hell, he spent at least ten minutes staring down a deer that stood on a nearby hill before it finally walked off.
An hour and change later, and here he is.
His body is asleep against a nearby tree. There's a squirrel on his chest. Unknown to anyone, Touma's consciousness is staring right at the squirrel, having pushed himself halfway through a tree to lean over his own body and glare right into the rodent's eyes.
Come on, He thought. Let me in.
The squirrel did nothing. It just looked at him for a moment longer, then moved to his shoulder bag.
He could have taken his body back and swatted the damn thing away. He'd chuck it as far as he could, and would watch it splatter against the ground. He'd kill the damn squirrel.
For once, however, someone might've beat him to the punch.

[attr="class","AudenContain"] [attr="class","AudenHidden"] I totally had that[attr="class","AudenBody"] Chiharu"I think that I can make food tonight." The girl's voice would ring out and cascade over the house that she resided in. Chiharu's eyes would look to the big window of their house, the slight kiss of trees seeming to linger at her eyes. That is my true home, not the metropolis that is forcing me into its wake. She'd sigh, oblivious to the fact that Harukor was still asleep and did not hear her at all. Grabbing onto her bow and quiver, she'd head out into the forest.
Chiharu and her father were given special hunting licenses due to their cultural heritage, which allowed them to hunt in the forests surrounding the outskirts of Tokyo. It wasn't often though, and they had to be vigilant to not scare or harm anyone that may be passing through it looking for a nature walk. Strapping the quiver around her tightly, she'd close the door of her house and start the trek out of Tokyo and into the tree line that was just barely out of her reach.
Time would pass slower than she expected, but she was finally able to come across a squirrel that seemed to be perfect for her hunting. Chiharu would carefully follow it, watching its every move and making sure that it didn't have a family just encase she was going to hunt something that needed to be providing for others. With those things confirmed, Chiharu's cool demeanor changed when she watched the squirrel hop onto the stomach of someone that seemed to be idly sleeping in the forest. Was he an idiot? It wasn't dangerous, sure, but she assumed that it wouldn't be something that a normal person would do in their free time.
She'd watch to make sure that he was actually still alive, before sighing silently and drawing her bow; even if he was sleeping, he was making a great stand for her get a better shot on the animal. With a clean arrow, the squirrel would get shot and stick to the tree that the man had been resting on. With careful steps, Chiharu would move to the side of him and raise her bow to his body to try and confirm that he was asleep and that this wasn't some elaborate trick. After a few moments passed, the red haired girl would lean down to try to take her prize. Notes⥋ Brown and gray attus.

| H e was never going to get used to getting shot-through. Mind, that wasn't to say it happened often - this was, in fact, the first time an actual arrow had gone through his spectral from - but honestly? It didn't matter to him if this was the first or the fiftieth time something like that had happened. Having something move through him was just an uncomfortable feeling, as though someone shoved a spectral hand into his skull and started swinging it around with reckless abandon. attached to.
Case and point, as aware as he liked to think he was of situations, the arrow caught him off-guard. The startle was enough to send paranoia rocking through his skull. The squirrel was dead, but was that meant for him? Was his body in danger?
It was as he was briefly petrified with his own thoughts that a figure approached, and... Oh. Alright. A huntress. Not the weirdest thing he'd ever seen. Maybe up there on the list of pretty things, sure, but not the weirdest. Not in this world. Not by a long shot.
His spirit exhaled, and his form slid back into his proper self. Being in his actual body felt secondary as of late, as though he was in charge of limbs that were not his own - which, hey, that wasn't too bad of a feeling. Uncomfortable at times sure, but it was to be expected given how often he entertained different forms.
Could take her for a spin... Nah. Don't think broken bones would look good on her. He shook the thought from his head, masking his dismissal as drowsiness.
"I had that." Touma muttered as his eyes opened proper, not reaching to try and stop her from taking the dead squirrel. "You could've killed me if you missed, lady." There was a hint of annoyance in his voice, but more so curiosity than anything else. His eyes tracked the bow in her hands first, then moved to her face.
"Are you trying to dwindle down the squirrel population or something?"

[attr="class","AudenContain"] [attr="class","AudenHidden"] i totally had that[attr="class","AudenBody"] ChiharuAs she went to grab at the arrow that had stuck the beast, Chiharu wasn't too worried about the person under it. They hadn't moved, so it seemed that whatever nap they were having wouldn't be disturbed by Chiharu's presence. A small sigh, perhaps of disappointment, before she would separate the arrow from the corpse and place it back in her quiver.
What she didn't expect, was the person to speak. Jumping as they did, Chiharu had half a mind to grab up her bow and fire, but with how close they were to one another it would be hard to get a good shot. "You..." They had been awake or did Chiharu wake them up with her shooting and making noise around them? "I... I wouldn't miss!" Her cheeks flared a bright red, as if her pride had been hindered. Looking down at the squirrel, she would huff and wrap the corpse around her waist by some rope. "This one here is a thief. He's been stealing all the nuts and hurting other squirrels. After asking my father, he said it was okay to let him meet his demise since he was being greedy and making the others starve." She had no reason to tell him all this, but she felt like the was important to have context. "A-Anyways, why are you sleeping out here on your own? It is dangerous, big beasts roam around." That wasn't totally true, but if she was able to make them scared, then it was even better. "Plus, these are my forests to protect. I wouldn't want you trying to defame it or steal." She'd already had to stop some arsonist from burning the forest down only a few weeks ago. Notes⥋ Brown and gray attus.
