Another day, another lecture on how to deal with another kind of dipshit villain. How should you counter a villain who has people hostage? When is the right time to take action in that type of situation? More of the kinds of thought-provoking questions that would make Jack's gears turn. How to do things right. How to do it quickly and efficiently. On most days, this was the kind of stuff that actually got him hyped up and excited to problem solve.
And yet, no matter how much he tried, his mind shifted back to that day. Just another basic day of patrolling. Yet it all went to shit the moment the Elementalist attacked, sending out monsters all over the city. The metal pod crashing down into the city, the metallic arms that shred those who were too close to it at the time...the scenes kept playing over and over in his head. After the adrenaline of the whole situation died down, the only thing Jack felt was a torrent of anguish and guilt, day in and day out. Even now he couldn't find it in himself to really focus on it all.
His eyes were almost glazed over as his mind kept drifting, only to finally be brought back to reality when the intercom overhead rang out his name. He basically leapt out of his seat, looking around frantically as he reprocessed everything that was happening. Right, right...class. Lecture. What just happened now? He blinked for a couple of seconds, before realizing finally that he was just called to the office. Jesus...hopefully it wasn't anything too major. He knew he had been a bit on the edge recently, but that doesn't suddenly mean they would flunk him, right???
He quickly packed up his things and hustled over towards the office as fast as he could, not wanting to keep them waiting. As he would finally arrive, the receptionist would give him the absolute bare minimum information as to what to expect. A visitor, at this time? What, did his folks come to talk about the whole situation? Or did someone come to pass him the bill for damages? Whatever it was, he knew well drag on the suspense any longer than he should.
When he knocked on the door, an unfamiliar voice responded. Blinking at the door and finally entering the room, his eyebrows quickly shot into orbit and his eyeballs bugged out of his head at his visitors. A sound not dissimilar to a rubber ducky escaped his lungs, his skin going pale before his tail slapped himself back into reality. He shook his head and took a deep breath. "I...uh, yes. Hi. Hello." he stammered, taking a seat across from the duo. Just take a chill pill for five seconds, dumbass...
Okay, right. Big flashy Pro Hero and one of her sidekicks in front of him. Just a normal day. Totally. ...He's screwed. Definitely screwed. "It's, ah...it's a pleasure, both of you. Jack Orion, at your service!" he awkwardly chirped, extending a clawed hand out to the both of them in greeting. As much as the big shot hero garnered all of the attention, it would still be disrespectful not to show her partner just as much respect.
