[attr="class","likedotitle2"]U.A. Student and Faculty Roleplaying Experience
[attr="class","likedoinfo"]One way or another, you've made it. You've just been enrolled in one of the most prestigious universities for heroics in the entire country—some would even go as far as to say it's the best in the world. Here your character will progress along a four-year journey alongside their classmates, building their skills and experience while discovering their place in the world. While enrolled, students will learn about a large breadth of subjects, allowing them to earn degrees and certifications in the various heroic and non-heroic industries.
U.A. has four departments: Department of Heroes, Department of General Education, Department of Support, and Department of Management.
Rather than a class-based system such as Class A and Class B, students are considered to be enrolled in one or more of the aforementioned departments. Within those departments are various educators that manage different classes which students are free to sign up for. In this way, students are not bound by being Class A or being Class B to interact with their fellow Hero Student peers.
U.A. University is a four-year institution, players are free to place themselves at any point in the university journey, starting off as a first-year, second-year, third-year, or even a fourth-year student. Likewise, a player may also make a character a member of U.A.'s faculty pending additional staff approval/scrutiny. The staff team takes extra care in vetting U.A. Faculty Members to make sure that their characters are consistent with U.A.'s vision and policies (both IC and OOC) and that the players behind those characters are dedicated to contributing to the Student Experience.
As a university, it operates much like your average institution, albeit with a much more rigorous application process. Many of the students who attend to U.A. tend to be the top of their class; however, many of its students also gain acceptance into U.A. through powerful connections. Students register for a number of classes each semester and work tirelessly towards earning their degrees in the various heroic and non-heroics fields.
U.A. is quite unlike traditional schools as the educators who have the honor of teaching there are granted special permissions to run their classes as they see fit. In fact, the educators of U.A. University exercise so much power that they even have the ability to expel any student at any time for any reason, no matter how minor. Another interesting fact is how most members of the faculty are all licensed heroes, many of whom are even alumni of the university itself.
Throughout the school year, U.A. has several different student events that players are free to sign up for and participate in them to earn EXP. Some of the events that are held each school year include (but are not limited to) the following:
Entrance Exams (March) - The Entrance Exam consists of a written test and a practical exam (particularly for those aiming to get into the non-General Education departments). The practical test typically sees its students presented with a significant challenge and/or opportunity to showcase their skills and prove why they deserve to be at U.A.
Sports Festival (Varies) - The Sports Festival is an annual event held by U.A. where students from various grades and courses have the opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities in fierce competitions. The U.A. Sports Festival has a large following about equal in popularity to the Olympic Games. The Sports Festival is also a very popular place for Hero Agencies and various other corporate entities to scout out the next generation for jobs and sponsorships, making it a very important competition to perform well in should one wish to rise to the top in the Hero Industry.
School Festival (Varies) - The School Festival is an event that highlights everyone who attends U.A. There are exhibits, performances, food stands, games, etc. all of which are put on by the student body for other students, faculty members, and the general public as they are invited on campus to engage with U.A.'s community.
Exams (Varies) - Near the middle and end of each semester, U.A. tests its students using the same format as their Entrance Exam: a written test followed by a practical exam. Of course, these exams differ from the Entrance Exam in that they are far more rigorous, and developed with the intention to test students on everything that they have learned throughout the semester.
As one of the world's top universities, getting accepted into it is considered no easy task. There are two routes for getting into U.A.: The U.A Recommendation Entrance Exam and the U.A. Entrance Exam. The U.A. Recommendation Entrance Exam has an acceptance rate of 40% while the standard U.A. Entrance Exam has a staggering acceptance rate of 5%.
The U.A. Recommendation Entrance Exam is a test that is given to exceptional high school students with outstanding academic and professional references. It consists of an interview, a written test, and a practical exam.
Sign-ups for the Entrance Exams typically begin in December and in January. During the Sign-Up Phase, applicants make their case for why they should be permitted the opportunity to take the Entrance Exams by submitting a portfolio containing their academic achievements, quirk records, work records, etc. Upon getting their portfolio accepted, applicants then take part in a one-on-one recorded interview with a representative of U.A.
Upon surviving the Sign-Up Phase, applicants then move on to the Written Exam Phase which starts and ends in February. During the Written Exam Phase, applicants are required to go through a series of written tests over three days within the month. Test results are sent out at the end of the month. Those who applied for the Department of Business and Department of General Education are given their Admittance Letters at the same time if they passed their written exams. Those who applied for the Department of Heroics and Department of Support, however, receive an invitation to participate in the Practical Exam Phase on U.A. campus grounds.
The Practical Exam starts and ends in March. During the Practical Exam Phase, applicants are challenged to demonstrate their skills. The applicants are given their instructions right before the beginning of test, allowing no time for students to plan accordingly.
Regardless, upon successfully making it to the end and being accepted into U.A., students receive a written acceptance letter along with a personalized video explaining their test results and congratulating them on their achievement.
There are the general education classes that make up the basic core courses that all students must take and the major-specific classes which are the courses that pertain to a student's specific field of study or department. Students are free to take their classes in whatever order they so desire (so long as they meet the necessary prerequisites). They are also free to take classes that are outside of their graduation requirements as well. Because of this freedom, it is common for students of different departments and years to have classes together.
While some students prefer to live off-campus, U.A. provides free living quarters on campus to all students and faculty members. The dormitories are set in one, large building that is split into three sections: Male Dormitories, Female Dormitories, and Gender-Neutral Dormitories. The three dormitories converge on one central point near the entrance: The Common Room.
Each floor has 8 rooms which are big enough to house up to 4 people. Those who choose to live in the dormitories are given the option to live alone or to welcome up to 3 roommates. Roommates are typically sorted randomly; however, it's not too difficult to put in a request to get a new roommate. In fact, it's quite common for individuals to room with their friend(s) and/or significant other(s).
U.A is protected by a special security system known as the U.A. Barrier. The gates automatically close if a person trying to enter the premises does not have a Student ID Card or Special Entry Permission ID. Additionally, in cases of emergency, the grounds were partitioned such that each section is capable of transforming into an emergency shelter. Each shelter then enters a linear maglev network that can transport each shelter along any number of underground routes at the faculty's discretion.
Those who are on campus without their Student ID Card or Special Entry Permission ID are also picked up by the U.A. scanners, immediately alerting the faculty to the presence of a potential intruder.
Unlike most other colleges, U.A. has a mandatory school uniform that students must wear during classes. Of course, students are free to wear whatever they please (provided that it is appropriate) outside of classes without fear of any sort of administrative punishment. The uniforms are in the exact same style as the source material.
