Katherine Smithgall was much sought after by the world's hero community. Her quirk allowed her to increase the speed of anyone's healing factor, allowing heroes who got injured to recover in no time flat. She sold her skill to the highest bidders, helping many heroes rise in the rankings of their country. She came to Japan for one of those jobs: a man named Kaito Kitoushi had hired her. He was a low level hero, with significant familial wealth, and wanted to increase his ranking quickly. As fate would have it, Kaito and Katherine fell in love, married and had, at least, one child: Keibo Kitoushi.
Keibo inherited her mother's quirk, Wellspring, but wanted to be a hero like her father. Kaito wasn't keen on his daughter trying to follow in his footsteps, especially since her quirk just allowed her to heal people. As a compromise, Kaito agreed to hire trainers to help Keibo become more physically capable and teach her some fighting skills. He figured, if nothing else, it would allow her to defend herself some day if she failed to become a hero. Through the rigorous training though, Keibo and Kaito realized that Keibo's quirk had more facets to it than Katherine had ever realized. Keibo seemed to be able to train nonstop for hours without resting. Even then, she showed no signs of soreness the following day.
In school, Keibo found herself drawn to Toshiyuki Hayato and Shinto Takedo. Both had voiced their desire to become heroes, just like Keibo, but more than that, they had skills that Keibo was jealous of. Toshiyuki could teleport and seemed to just know when things would happen while Shinto could toss houses like they were baseballs. She knew that these two had the potential to become heroes and saw them as rivals. She wanted to be near them as motivation to work hard and not settle for "good enough". And as if those weren't reason enough to spend time with them, they were both pretty good with people which allowed Keibo to kind of hide in their shadows. She wasn't shy or introverted, per se, but she didn't feel the need to make friends with other children that were beneath her.
Eventually, the rivalry that existed in Keibo's mind became more of a friendship. Then all three of them enrolled at UA with her friends and continued the personal instruction with the trainers that her father had hired for her. He had even hired manufacturers to create equipment for her, most notable her Slice of Life sword. She loved the weapon as it allowed her to control the environment around her without worrying about hurting people. Keibo is confident that if she keeps working hard, she'll eventually make it as a hero.

QUIRK DESCRIPTION: Wellspring is a quirk that allows its user to emit a unique energy, commonly referred to as Life Force, from a circular nodule located on both palms. Life Force is the energy found in every living being that allows it to be alive as well as heal from wounds. The inherent amount of Life Force found in living beings is variable but may be insufficient to heal severe injuries. The user can emit Life Force into other beings to allow them to heal more quickly and retain life. The user has no ability to control the energy once it leaves their body, meaning that there are no offensive applications of Life Force. Due to the user's abundance of Life Force built up within her body, the user is able to heal from wounds much more quickly than normal humans: small scratches and bruises disappear almost as soon as they occur, while more severe injuries can usually be totally healed after a good night’s rest. The ability to heal herself in this manner causes the Vitality attribute to be replaced with the rank of this quirk.
QUIRK DRAWBACKS: The user can't control Life Force once it leaves the body and it can't be used to hurt living beings. This means that, unlike some emitter quirks, Wellspring can’t be shot out like a projectile or used to make constructs. While the user does have extra Life Force within them, they do not have an infinite amount of it and can run out if their reserves becomes too depleted. When this happens, the user will initially become irritable and moody. Further use of Life Force could lead to blurry vision, poor concentration, slowed reflexes, and impaired hand eye coordination. At the most extreme, the user will faint due to the physical and mental strain on the body.
