If there was anyone who could get her an E.M.P then it would be them and yet Olivia was skeptical. Djinn emphasized that she might find Bakuretsu "very interesting" which usually meant trouble. Even still she had a goal in mind and nothing would get in the way of what she wanted.[break][break] She stuck to the rooftops as she approached the location Djinn specified to her. She still wasn't sure that this wasn't a trap so when the building was in view instead of approaching from the top she would enter from the roof. Carving a small hole as delicately and quietly as she can she would slip in and land gently on the rafters. 'Well, she's definitely an explosives expert,' she thought to herself as she scanned the room below, seeing discarded and half-complete explosives, some she recognized and others being entirely foreign to her. Once she got a good look at who she presumed was Bakuretsu she would drop down, leaving a decent amount of distance between the two of them.[break][break]
"Bakuretsu. Djinn sent me and told me you can make explosives."[break][break] Technically, E.M.Ps were explosives, just not the kind in which she would have expected Retsu to have experience. Even though she tried to approach amiably she would still keep a firm grip on the hilt of her Armor-Piercer ready to strike out if Retsu turned out to be more hostile than anticipated.

The hair on the back of Retsu's neck had raised long before Olivia had spoke up, her senses letting her know something was wrong even if she couldn't quite place what. Experience had taught her to trust instincts like that and Retsu wasn't about to start ignoring them now. Putting the part she was working on down she picked up another, slotting it neatly into a different project to finish an impromptu grenade. Impromptu because it didn't quite have the safeties built in nor the pin. A good hit would be enough to set this experimental concussive grenade off, something as detrimental as it could be beneficial. Retsu was confident she'd be faster than whatever sneak had gotten into her workshop. She kept the safety hazard close at hand -quite literally- when Olivia dropped down and began speaking. "Is that so?" Retsu asked rhethorically while narrowing her eyes at the intruder. She highly doubted Elias would've instructed her to drop in from above, much less without calling ahead. Not unless he wanted her dead. Retsu only narrowly stopped herself from clicking her tongue. If he was foisting his dirty work off on her for plausible deniability without any pay they'd be having words. "Well, y'r better at foindin' the roite person than ya were at foindin' the door. Who the fook are ya and what d'ya want?"

Whatever she initially was thrown out the window upon meeting her as she was just a kid really. The way Djinn talked about her, she expected some grizzled veteran with a grudge against society, and she would soon find out that she was half right.[break][break] "Why would I trust someone I just met?" She would grip the blade more firmly in response to Retsu's own failsafe "For all I know he set up a trap, I'm not going to knock on the front door." She would take a quick peek around the workshop, noting that his intel seemed correct as this equipment looked properly handled, and she doubted that someone would stockpile this many explosives without having some aptitude. Either that or she was suicidal.[break][break] "But assuming this is all legit, Djinn is paying." Olivia could, but she wouldn't until she saw Retsu's skills in action "I need an E.M.P., just a handheld one that can be used for my 'work'." She didn't want to get into more detail, but she figured if Retsu was ready to blow her up she'd need to lean into her reasoning a bit more. "Unfortunately, I'm a "dud" as they call it." Anyone quirkless knew the term well, and those who weren't still had some idea. "So I'm looking to rebuild my arsenal, which I had to leave behind."

"Fair enuff," Retsu shrugged. If she suspected a trap then dropping from above where she'd be airborne and immobile with a predictable trajectory was one of the dumbest things the woman could have done in Retsu's opinion but Olivia's future survivability was none of her business. At least this one seemed to have the sense not to take people at their word. "Is that so?" She replied skeptically. It'd be brazen to lie to her face like that but this was coming from the same person that dropped in from the roof. One Retsu would definitely be charging her extra for if she broke anything on the way in. The deposit on this place hadn't been cheap and the last thing she wanted was for someone to come looking into what was going on inside. "Hmm, E.M.P. grenades ey," Retsu continued with a thoughtful expression. In theory she could make that. She'd finished a functional prototype more than four months ago but been ousted from her workshop before she could finalize the design. Well, she'd finished a rudimentary one ages ago but condensing it into grenade form, ensuring it had optimal efficiency and the right kind of range was far more difficult. Not to mention time-consuming. Testing, altering, retesting, calibrating, adjusting and more was expensive and required specialized testing grounds lest you fry things you shouldn't if you got anything wrong. That was where the problem laid. It'd taken months to get it to work given that she'd treated it as a side project but even with her full focus it'd take days if not weeks to get those same results once more. She didn't have the time for that and the data she'd previously collected had been lost alongside her workshop. It'd been in a safe so it still existed but it'd been stolen from the wreckage and she'd yet to reclaim it. Which was exactly why her eyes narrowed as Olivia kept talking. What a coincidence that their circumstances seemed so similar. Why, they were practically the same. Her left eye stung at the thought. That wasn't quite right, was it? Reaching for her eye patch she put it back on, both to buy herself a moment and to stop the stabbing pain that was beginning to give her a headache. If her suspicions were correct... She had nothing but a flimsy interpretation of the words from some unknown organization and her own gut feeling. Even so her instincts hadn't led her wrong thus far. Cold fire burned inside her. She had to know for sure. In time she would and then they'd all be reduced to ashes in the flames they'd roused. "Y'r in luck. Ah'm prolly one a' the few people in the whole city that ken make 'em," Retsu explained. Even without her continuing it was very clear there was a 'but' attached to the statement. "Ah dun' 'ave the materials on hand ta put 'em together but ah know where ta find 'em. Unfortunately ah dun' think the fookers that have 'em will wanna hand 'em over ta us but hey," Retsu shrugged, "a dud's somethin' that doesn't do what other others wanted from it. Up fer a lil smash 'nd grab?"

If someone was to put explosives or other volatile deterrents above them they risked so much more than barricading the entrances. In a world with superpowered people all it took was a hard enough strike to the exterior to start the crumbling of the entire building and death by your hand. Seemed like Retsu had the same thought process as she looked around and could see plenty of spots to keep tripmines or anything else of her creation.[break][break] "There is a slight level of urgency here. I have a few jobs requiring more than a good weapon." She still held onto the blade in one hand, feeling just as much, if not more, skeptical of Retsu here. [break][break] A tentative alliance based on necessity was all she was willing to do. Even Amber was someone she had a transactional relationship with. Still, she had more faith in her than anyone else to the point where she would prioritize herself over Amber and THEN everyone else, which for Olivia was about the closest you'd get to being a friend. "A dud as in I don't have a quirk." she would shrug, assuming Retsu knew what she meant "I've never let something like someone else's desires get in the way of what I want before, not going to start now. Lead the way." So far, Djinn's intel proved to be spot on. Whether she could end up using Retsu as a resource going forward depended on how well this little 'excursion' of theirs went.

"Then we better get goin', ey?" Retsu responded with a confident grin. Grabbing all the gear she'd need to take down the punks that had her stuff wouldn't take long. She never put her equipment too far out of arms reach. "Ya got a ride?" She sure hoped so. "Ah'll meetcha there if naht." Her bike only fit one and she wasn't gonna turn her back to a potential enemy for the entire trip there. "Ah know the fookin' meaning," Retsu spat back, assuming Olivia didn't get what she meant. "An' ah dun' fookin' care about it. Let 'em use all their dumb words, it'll be good practice fer what'll 'ave ta be put on their headstones when we're done with 'em."Had she not been so lacking in self awareness Retsu might have realized the significance of her phrasing but as it was she was wholly ignorant to the fact that she'd already put them on the same side in her mind. For once her lack of introspection was a good thing. She'd have been mighty pissed if she found out. With her harness full of grenades, Temper on her hip and her guns strapped to her side and back Retsu drove her motorcycle to the place in question. The place were her safe had been transferred to was nothing special nor were its owners. Ars Natura operated out of the back of a used car dealership and had long had a rivalry with another gang called Augmented Intelligence that were all about robotics. It was no wonder they'd snagged her designs off the black market before she'd managed to put the sellers down. It suited their purposes perfectly. Parking her bike Retsu waited for Olivia to catch up before addressing her.
"Should be in there. Avoid anything too destructive, some a' mah shit's in dere too and if it's wrecked it'll be a whoile 'fore ah ken get ya those bombs. Their leader's a gorilla mutant bah the name of Nanaba," Retsu concluded. With her explanation done she grinned. "What d'ya say? We goin' in from the front or d'ya wanna try the roof again?"

Just need the address." She wasn't going to go with Retsu even if she offered, she still hadn't been ruled out as an enemy and the chance this was a trap was never zero. In fact she always made sure to get a good vantage point when she showed up to lessen the chance of being caught off guard. Retsu offering to meet her there didn't help her paranoia, but she didn't really have a choice. Djinn didn't offer any alternatives for securing explosives.[break][break] "Sounds like we're of the same mind." Retsu was much more crass than Olivia was, but she probably understood her more instinctively than anyone else. No matter where you morals lay if you were quirkless you were put in a box, something the two of them clearly didn't like.[break][break] Loading her handgun and placing her sword on her back she would leave Retsu's storehouse and take the long way, using her skates to move quickly through the night. It was nowhere near the same speed as Retsu's motorcycle. She would arrive, giving it a few minutes before she'd approach Retsu "No need to worry about that. Precision is my game I don't have a life to spare to play around with explosives." She didn't trust Retsu to run off and pull a fast one on her so against her better judgment she would add "The front is fine. Enter and split up?" IF there was a trap at the front they would both be caught in it and if she couldn't prevent herself from dying here mutually assured destruction was the next best option.

"Weird flex but okay," Retsu shrugged in reponse to Olivia's comment on explosives. "Front it is. Works fer me. Dun' fook up any papers ya foind inside."As far as the building they were about to enter went it was so stereotypically a second-hand car dealership Retsu was surprised they hadn't been busted solely for looking too normal. A glass fronted reception room that had a wide open floorplan, semi-circle couches around small round tables, flimsy rotatable holders for a bunch of advertisement folders and a large fancy looking counter at the back made up the main area where customers were received. At the back was one door leading to the manager's office and another leading to the garage slash depot where the overpriced additions the smooth talking salesmen talked the customers into getting were added to the rust buckets they sold right before being shipped off. "Take the one on the left," Retsu said with a wave of her hand, cutting off the salesman that had turned their way the second the front door's chime rung. "Ah'll take the one behind the counter. If ya foind any papers with schematics on 'em y'r in the roite place. If ya don't ah'll meetcha in the back."
Not bothering to waste a bullet on the salesman that was clearly way out of his depth Retsu simply laid him out with a straight right to the chin before continuing on. At this time of day the depot was likely to have both members of Ars Natura and normal employees in it. Retsu couldn't say she cared in the slightest how Olivia chose to deal with any of them so long as none of her stuff was lot in the crossfire. Besides. Their more illegal dealings all happened out of the fourth room, a separate workshop in the back where they officially kept vehicles in need of far larger repairs. Either that or they kept it locked up in the office she was heading too. Hopping over the counter Retsu figured she was about to find out.

What, did she have kids or something to pass these down to when it all blew up in her face? [break][break] As they entered the building, Olivia would raise an eyebrow at how normal it looked. Her eyes would flicker over to Retsu, attempting to read her body language for any tell. Her own expression seemed to be one of surprise, so Olivia was willing to let it slide as she didn't seem like a particularly good actor.[break][break] At the sign of Retsu's "unprovoked" attack the other salesman would attempt to do the same to Olivia, but she was on top of him before he could act. Whether he was a regular scared employee or someone with the group that had outsmarted this...genius? Sure, genius. Wasn't a concern as they all stood in the way of what she wanted. She would shuffle through any papers and didn't find anything, shaking her head as she moved past the man to enter the back area.

"Hello there," Retsu said calmly while pushing the door open. "Where's my fookin' stuff ya goddamn nerds?"Unless it was located in abject terror Retsu wouldn't be able to read the location off their facial expressions. A shame, but not one she wasn't used to. Ignoring the balding men around the conference table her gaze flicked to the guy giving the presentation. "You! Sounds lahk you know what ah'm talkin' about." "I don't-'
The sound of a metallic ping cut off his words. With a theatrical flourish Retsu spun the safety pin of the frag grenade she'd just drawn around her finger. "Ah guess ah dun' need ya then." "W-wait we can-" "Buh bye." "I know where it is!" The man shouted as quickly as he could. Seeing Retsu pause in the middle of lobbing her grenade at his face he continued talking. "The safe is in the workshop in the back if you just let me- Wait, what are you-?!"With the knowledge secured Retsu lobbed the grenade at him and turned towards the door leading further in, ignoring the executives pointlessly trying to get out of the blast range before it'd go off. Maybe if they'd did anything themselves instead of getting rich off others they'd have been fast enough but alas, they would not be mourned. The grenade went off just before she kicked in the door to the final room, wondering whether Olivia had managed to clear out the garage yet. She sure hoped so. Dealing with everyone in the heart of Ars Natura's base alone sounded like it'd be an absolute pain.

When Olivia pushed into the next room, she was greeted with what looked like traditional mobsters, a bit outdated, but sure, whatever. For a split second, they'd stare at her, but once they saw her Armor-Piercer, they would raise their guns and begin to fire. Since she didn't want to be Swiss cheese, she was already on the move, diving behind a half-built car. Bullets rang out and would hit the surface with footsteps slowly approaching. 'This better be the world's best E.M.P' she thought to herself as she swiped at the side mirror with her blade to break it off. [break][break] Readying her weapon by moving the ratchet to enable the whip, she would toss the car mirror up and down for a moment to get a feel of the weight. One shot to get this right. Crouching, she would wind her arm back and throw the mirror as hard as she could before making a dash in the other direction; sliding on the floor; she would push off as hard as she could, cutting through the advancing party, and then extending the whip in a sweeping motion to decapitate the two in the backline. It was a gambit that she did often as most people didn't expect a bladed weapon to be able to extend dozens of meters. fair was fair; why should she fight honorably? [break][break] The explosion and rapid footsteps made her take cover again. When the person behind them would emerge she was ready to attack until she saw it was her "partner". "Oh, it's you."

"Someone's gotta get shit done," Retsu fired back while stepping past the mess Olivia had made. She hoped these idiots weren't dumb enough to keep her papers on their person or those EMPs would have to wait. Grumbling under her breath she pressed the button to raise the mechanical gate leading to the back of the workshop. It rose up so lethargically slow that she could've taken a nap in the time it took for the thing to raise and with a noise so grating there was no way she would've been able to. She didn't bother raising it any further than waist height. Time was money and they'd go into the red if they had to wait for that. Of course the moment it finished raising up that high she kicked in the door right next to it and stepped through with her pistol in front of her. The entire precaution turned out to be for nothing as their engineer slash leader, a gorilla mutant by the name of GodFall, was happily humming along to whatever tune was playing through his headphones. Only when she stepped in did he stop and look their way. "You! What are you doing here!" His gruff voice rang out. Stepping further in Retsu's attention was elsewhere however, her eye twitching up a storm as she looked upon the broken safe, papers scattered all over the tables and half-assed prototypes. "That's not how ya- What the fook were you even... No, just no." She continued with disgust as she picked up one of the grenades with a sneer before haphazardly tossing it to the side, completely confident it wouldn't do shit. "What even is... Why would you use fookin' AA batteries in an EMP device?" Retsu couldn't even call it a grenade. Utterly ignoring the engineer picking up some sort of electricity cannon that she could only assume came through fucking up her designs so hard he'd made a device that amplified electricity instead Retsu leafed through papers and put aside parts. Her eye briefly flicked to GodFall and Yingshe in turn. "Keep him off me fer a minute will ya?"
She hadn't even finished speaking before his armor electrified as well. Ah well. Not her problem.

She was a bit of a hypocrite since she herself didn't necessarily enjoy killing it was more that she enjoyed doing what she wanted. Which to be fair mostly involved killing, gear didn't come cheap after all. [break][break] "Sure." She would roll her eyes as she used one of the corpses' shirt to wipe the blood off her blade. She didn't want to have to deal with rust, especially with Arsenal as busy as she was with school, ugh. Still, she was getting close to her goal which would make all of this worth it.[break][break] The animal mutant wasn't much of a surprise to Olivia, but the quick 'chat' between him and Retsu definitely was. Retsu was mostly a ball of anger to see her as exasperated. "Sure. If this is the stuff then I'll do it." She would backflip as the monkey man charged his cannon, taking some loose parts and throwing them at him as she flanked from the side. She would then swing her blade as a feint before loosening the ratchet to make the whip extend instead hoping to gouge part of his stomach out.

Olivia's backflip was more than enough to keep her out of the cannon's range, the arcs of electricity firing from it hitting a variety of metal surfaces instead of her. Something that would have worked wonders if it'd been used against its intended audience, the cybernetically enhanced freaks that called themselves Augmented Intelligence, but was as a screen door on a submarine right now. "Oy watch where y'r fookin' shootin' ya baboon!" Retsu shouted at the gorilla. Clearly the quirk that gave him human intellect had put him solidly at the top of bell curve. Clicking her tongue as she pulled a third grenade apart only to find several parts connected to the completely wrong things she finally had all the parts she needed to make a very rudimentary E.M.P. grenade. How he'd somehow managed to stumble onto making the parts correct but then completely messed up putting them together she had no idea. The only answer GodFall provided to her inner monologue was a pained scream when Yingshe's blade tore a gash into his skin and part of his muscles, the gorilla's physique making it tough enough to not go through entirely. Another yelp resounded when a spark from his armor hit the metal sending a shock through him before the blade stopped making contact. "Amateur. This is 'ow ya do it," Retsu scoffed at GodFall while tossing the finished E.M.P. grenade his way. Not even bothering to continue paying attention she began to collect the papers strewn all over the place. The subpar craftsmanship made the grenade far from effective but it proved more than enough to short out his armor, weapon and everything electronic in the rest of the room. "Looks lahk it at least works. Fook 'im up so we ken get outta 'ere and ah ken show ya what an actual fookin' E.M.P. does."

Not only did he have Olivia completely on the backfoot, but any strikes she made risked her losing her weapon in the process. Metal and electricity weren't exactly a fun combination. Even worse was that there were a lot of metallic objects in the area that Olivia risked touching that would probably fry her. [break][break] "Any time now." She would call out to Retsu, who, in her eyes, was fiddling with a bunch of parts while Olivia did her dirty work. Not cool.[break][break] As the E.M.P landed in front of GodFall, Olivia would stop dodging to get a better look. The device would whirl as it charged, and then a click would be made before the electromagnetic explosion knocked out the power. To verify she would check her phone and seeing that it was completely out it was go time. "Nothing personal. She would swing her weapon above her head, twirling it like a ribbon before striking at the gorilla quirker over and over again. His skin was tough so after a dozen or so strikes he would fall. "So, when can I expect the E.M.P?" She would also walk over to his lightning gun "Assuming this is his creation and not yours, I'm gonna take this. I need more firepower with some of the crazy shit these quirkers can pull."
