Levi was getting nowhere with Falcon One. Despite his good intentions, the duo often found themselves bickering over the pettiest of things. Still, Levi couldn't deny that he was thankful for Falcon One offering to watch his place. Granted, his apartment had caught fire, and it may or may not have been set by him, but Levi didn't have to worry about that... right?[break][break]

The soft scent of sea salt drifted through the air as the calming noise of ships passing over the water soothed and calmed him. Despite the ambient noise, you could almost hear a pin drop.

Or the soft cry of a kitten sitting behind a trash can. The poor thing looked disheveled, young. Fresh out of the basket and scrounging for food on her own. Levi paused a moment to stare as purple, shimmering liquid metal shifted around his right arm. The staring match continued for what felt like forever as Levi considered taking the young cat in before Falcon One's voice pierced through his ears. "Boss? Why'd you go silent?"[break][break]

Levi jumped a bit, startled by the interruption as the cat bolted. Instincts gave way to rational thought as Levi quickly gave chase.[break][break]

"Jesus Falc, don't do that! I'm adopting a cat!"

When she'd sought to check upon that family of stray cats she'd found not too long ago, she'd been greeted by the sight of the mother cat yowling not too far from her nest. Her first instincts are to check in on the distressed feline, calling out to her with soft words and clicking until she gains her attention. And when the cat approaches close enough, she gives it a quick lookover, checking for any signs of injury and thankfully finding none.[break][break]

That, however, brings on a new wave of concerns. Hurried steps carry her to the nest, bright eyes cast over the mewling kittens that crawl about as she counts three. Of course, she had to be looking for her missing kit.[break][break]

Tokyo Bay is by no means a small area, but with such stubby little legs and poor agility, just how far could the little one have gotten? Looking down to her feet, she meets the gaze of a worried mother, the feline wrapped around her shins as a low purr rumbles through her chest.[break][break]

"We'll find your lil' one." Her promise doesn't come light, curled fingers reaching down to scratch behind the ears. Or at least, she would have if the cat hadn't suddenly ran off.[break][break]

Eyes narrow, her mind spurred to action as she begins to follow. There must have been something that she heard, something that had caught her attention enough to pursue - And her answer comes first in the form of a panicked mewl, then the sight of a man vehemently chasing a tiny kitten down.[break][break]

Oh, no. Not today. Her hands reach for the closest object, grabbing an empty milk crate that she tosses right at the offending chaser. And she won't stop her charge, steadily speeding up in hopes of reaching the kitten first.

Seriously, it was like Falcon One wasn't even listening half the time. Granted, Levi hadn't really given him enough details to actually know what was going on, but that wasn't his fault! There was a defenseless crying Kitten running through trash and filth, how could Falcon One not pick up on context clues?[break][break]


The shimmering purple nanotechnology around Levi's right arm began to pulsate, reaching out to his will as an extension of his hand. "Come on, if I can just get a little closer..." The enlarged purple first reached, stretched, tugged at its own limitations in an attempt to grab the fleeing kitten. Didn't it know he was trying to offer it three hots and a cot? "Nearly there, I just... need to..."[break][break]

Some sort of blunt object cracked against Levi's back as he fell forward, his own instinctual and mental 'Don't Fall!' redirecting Skylark's grasp to himself instead. The hand thinned, wrapping around Levi's body to cushion the blow and save him from skidding face-first into the pavement. As the glistening liquid metal made contact with the ground, small wisps began dragging Levi along, attempting to keep pace with the cat.[break][break]

Levi rolled to his back, shifting his weight on the nanotech sled in an attempt to locate his pursuer. *"Yeah, I just got hit by a box and I'm being chased by a... by a dragon?"*[break][break]

*"THEY WHAT?!"* Levi's panicked notion spurned Skylark forward, tendrils of purple liquid spreading behind his back in a twist, bringing him to his feet. *"Fuck Falc, I can't let this cat get eaten by a dragon! I've only been here 20 minutes!"*[break][break]

His boots made contact with the pavement as his pace quickened, turning his pace from a slight jog to a life-saving sprint.[break][break]

Levi turned with only a second to spare as the dragon hurled a projectile at him. "SHIT!" Knee-jerk reaction gave way to the chase as Skylark pooled around his arm in an attempt to leave it attached. The solid *CLANG* of the two metals colliding confirmed the dragon's hit. While the liquid metal had been useful in protecting his arm, the force of the blow itself pushed Levi's arm in an awkward motion, nearly knocking him off his feet as the larger of the two cats took the lead past him. The lid remained attached to the nanotech, seemingly dissolving as a pool of grey joined the hues of purple. Alright, it's my turn.[break][break]

Whatever circus this man runs over his phone, she couldn't care less. Clearly, Levi had the situation completely under control without any additional quips from Falcon One. Clearly, Levi was lying to himself. His voice came through the speaker once more as his body attempted to shift enough to get a gasp of clean air through the tightening dragon's claws.[break][break]

*"Ok listen, maybe you do give Taiyaki to a cat, maybe you don't. I'm not familiar with where the closest pet store is, nor the foods they carry."* He shifted a bit, the brick wall digging into his shoulder blades. *"What I do know is that this little guy is hungry. I've got... had a pack of jerky in my jacket that's considerably lighter and much more rustly than it was when I first got here."* Sure enough, thanks to his protective yet loose grip, the kitten had managed to worm her way into Levi's interior jacket pocket where a veritable treasure trove of dried meats awaited her.[break][break]

He turned his gaze to the snarling mother cat, eyeing him down from just behind the dragon. *"Ma'am."* He offered, quite pointlessly. What he did notice as he got a clearer look at her though, was that she seemed to be much less demonic than what he had originally assumed.[break][break]

Levi grinned. *"See?? I've got references!! Do you... I don't know, do dragons eat Tayaki?"* At this point, if it wasn't for cats, Levi was quite uncertain who it was for. *"If it's dragon-appropriate food, what say we grab some and hash out the adoption paperwork, yeah?"*[break][break]

His throat was feeling tighter and tighter. He really hoped dragons could eat Tayaki.
