The Arashi family was not significant for a long time, nor did the younger generation try to invigorate the family with wealth or fame. Enma wanted to be famous, but through his relationship and inevitable guardianship with his Papa Arashi, he transformed his views into something more dutiful. Shortly after his father allowed him to move to the countryside as likely reprieve from the rebellious nature of the boy and inability to sway him for sixteen years, tragedy struck.
A villain of unknown clout or capability used the robbery of his father's store to distract heroes and police alike while performing a high-stakes heist. Due to the robbery employing more amateurish criminals, it resulted in the tragic loss of his mother and sister who were operating the place at the time. Enma's father refused to tell his son, the news slowly making its way to the Kyoto-living grandfather. Due to this lack of communication, their relationship was further weakened and where Papa Arashi lacked in emotional mentorship had caused the boy to go down a path of anxiety and determination.
Wanting to be a hero to take down the unsuspecting, to cut down grander plans before they could ever come to fruition, Enma pushed Papa Arashi to teach him how to use his quirk and train for the UA Entrance Exam. What his grandfather could teach him was what his quirk could truly do besides be very good for branding. What could not be taught was how it would really manifest for Enma. The other things that helped was good, old-fashioned physical training.
Needing remedial courses to gauge where he was academically, Enma begrudgingly moved back to the city where his father ran his shop. It had been moved to a much larger building, offering a wide-variety of sporting goods and blooming in a way that the boy needed to take advantage of. Despite their differences, his father agreed to help him financially as long as he helped fill in on occasion when his siblings and father wanted or needed the time off.

This quirk, however, does not provide any natural talent for artistic expression, simply the fuel.
Enma's Journey empowers a weapon he has an attachment to and slowly imprints a visual of his overall emotional state on it. This permanently alters the appearance of the equipment's surface like painting on a canvas and allows him to imbibe it temporarily with power. By activating the Journey, he increases the Durability, which raises the weapon's durability 1 rank per Enma's quirk tier up to whatever rank his quirk currently is. QUIRK DRAWBACKS:
The main drawback of the Journey and the quirk overall is that it puts a heavy draw on Enma's Vitality, causing heavy usage to bring exhaustion in a fraction of the time it would normally bring someone of the same Vitality.
As a result of having his Vitality drained and overuse of his endocrine glands, Enma can experience different critical emotional states and emotional instability that makes him act either out of character or gives unwelcome enhancement to one of his emotional facets, making logic much weaker than impulse.
Enma cannot pick up a random weapon and imbibe it with power. It must be a weapon of significance to him, such as something gifted or something in his possession. It can be a loaned weapon from someone important to him, but they have to be a pretty close friend or at least be in the process of trauma bonding with him.
In order to project an image, there must be a surface. It can't be a cloud of imagery floating in the air, it will always be akin to marking a surface.
