[attr="class","likedotitle2"]U.A. Student Experience
[attr="class","likedoinfo"] On FFJ, just like the source material, U.A.U has four departments:
Department of Heroes - For those aiming to become Pro Heroes who serve on the frontlines and help any civilians/take down villains!
Department of General Education - For those seeking a prestigious degree from a world-famous institution. You'll be taking mostly standard University courses.
Department of Support - For the creative types, this department focuses on developing support equipment that helps heroes out on the battlefield.
Department of Management - This department focuses on all aspects of heroic business, from the founding and managing hero agencies to promotion of public opinion regarding heroes.
Regarding character creation or even character progression, you are more than welcome to make your discipline from any of the four listed! Choosing support course does not mean you are ineligible to pursue hero course activities and vice versa!
Detailed below are some IC pursuits you can have your character go for! Remember that these are all optional and not required as part of the UAU experience!
The relationship between students and their teachers is one of the most important aspects of either course offered at U.A. University. For many students, the teachers will be their first real experience at seeing a pro hero up close and personal. Not just someone showcased on a television monitor, but a living breathing person that they can ask for genuine guidance. Inversely, students are a sign of hope for teachers. Proof that the next generation of pro heroes can be even greater than themselves, and as such are duty-bound to protect them and nurture their growth.
A value of this symbiotic relationship is an unofficial Mentorship System! By unofficial, we mean that, just like everything in this guide, it's entirely optional and decided by players! Students who are willing to go beyond normal expectations or who have bonded strongly with a teacher might seek to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
While mentorships are functionally just a narrative reason for characters to be linked to IC, there are some benefits that you gain mechanically by 'learning' from a pro/teacher. Skills are something you can get at a discount IF taught by someone and details can be found [here]. In canon, this is the equivalent of Shota Aizawa teaching Hitoshi Shinso how to use his unique binding cloth combat style!
There's no real limit on how many 'mentorships' you can participate in as long as you and the mentor are willing and able. We highly recommend checking out the [active agencies] and [faculty roster] alongside our list of active [Pro Heroes]!
Whether you're familiar with the world of My Hero Academia or entirely new to the source material, it's crucial to note that for the students at UAU, it's illegal to use your quirk without a license. Quirk restriction laws, in the effort to maintain order in a superhuman society, prevent the public display of quirks for all citizens—except in cases of self-defense. That said, for aspiring heroes, there is another option: The Provisional License Exam.
On FFJ, instead of having a moderated event for PLEs, there are a series of different prompts for each of the different disciplines within the Hero Department. You can find more information on both the disciplines and the prompts themselves in the post below!
When you complete this exam, you'll have taken your first meaningful step at becoming a fully-fledged pro hero. By obtaining this license, students will unlock many of the same privileges as a sidekick! The most important is utilizing their quirks in public and performing heroic acts without reprimand as long as they're acting under the authority of an existing Pro Hero or civilians with a Hero License.
It should also be noted that students found performing heroic acts or using their quirks without a provisional license will receive disciplinary measures following the U.A.U Handbook. After all, U.A.U is a school that trains pro heroes. Vigilantism will not be tolerated.
