✧ THE FACILITY ✧
Unspecified location in the ocean near Tokyo Bay - 4 weeks after the Dream World Incident.
Deep deep below the sea, Three individuals surrounded a tank in a dimly lit lab. The taller one, whose face was obscured in armor, and the smaller woman, who had a talisman masking her face, were staring intently at a timer while the third, a tall man with gray skin and green hair, could barely stifle a yawn, choosing to chime in to cut through the tension. “So! If the Elementalist dies who’s in charge? Me?” The largest one in the armor would turn to face him “Not you, Psychonaut. You have no experience, while I, the glorious Lord Steel, have many decades of experience.” The man known as Psychonaut would raise an eyebrow and nearly laugh. “And that’s how you ended up being exiled, huh? Ended up here?”
The room began to shake as Lord Steel’s armor vibrated and began to morph. “You better watch your tone,” the Psychonaut responded in kind, his skin lighting up as his hair stood on end. “That’s my line, old man.” The third, Yggrdrassil, stood behind the two, staring at the tank, a loud hiss indicating it had opened.
As the man stepped out of the tank, he gradually moved his hands and arms as if to test them before speaking to the two about to clash. “There is no need to discuss who will take over; it was a success. I’ll continue to do tests, but it's safe to say that I am the first ‘High-End’ product.” He would step past the two, accepting clothes from Yggdrasil, and hit a button on the console next to the group. “If adding seven quirk factors didn’t kill this body, then I doubt the other High-Ends will have any problems. Even if their quirks have been magnified.” He’d pause, looking at a string of data. “2 Weeks. 2 Weeks, and each of them will be strong enough to level a country on their own.”
Psychonaut was the first to speak up. “You gotta be freaking kidding me! There’s no way that those scrawny-looking slugs could eve-” He froze, all the hairs on his body standing up as he looked into the sky. From his perspective, an all too familiar visage was staring back. “Fuck, it’s Starling Soul. I told you we should have moved further!” Psychonaut would press his fingers to his temples and attempt to push Starling Soul’s search farther away, but to no avail. She was steadily getting closer and closer.
“Don’t panic. The data we collected from Subject 257-A’s biomass when it became the ‘tower’ was enough to supply me with the perfect quirk.” His hair would change color to a bright, sparkling yellow. “A weak quirk became the ultimate tool to stop the greatest threat to our plans.” He would aim his hand towards the location Psychonaut was looking.
“Lock Out.” Ethereal chains would shoot out from The Elementalist’s hands and surge upwards through the ceiling and the waves. From Psychonauts’ perspective, he could only watch as the projection of Starling Soul became wrapped up in these same chains and then disappeared.
Lord Steel would speak up, “What did that do? Won’t Starling Soul come here and ruin everything?” The Elementalist would turn and face the trio, “No, she can’t. That’s what Lock Out does, or rather, this is what it can do when you awaken your quirk.” He’d gesture for the group to follow, entering the central area of this expansive underwater facility.
“I’m sure they’ll send some heroes in her stead. The High-Ends need more time to cook, but the rest of them are ready. We stole enough quirk factors from “Dream World,” and even the half-baked versions we stuffed into these guys will be too much for the heroes.”
Overlooking the large area, hundreds of creatures of various shapes and sizes were moving around.
“Let them try to raid Takamaghara. We’ll slaughter them all and then take this country for ourselves.”
