A brief yawn escaped Demura's lips as his eyes scanned over this week's patrol schedule for one final time, before naming the file and saving it to his desktop. The screen of his computer winked out, and the newest head of Monarch Hero Agency stood from his seat to stretch. Huh, it still felt weird to think about. This time last year, he was in America, tracking down clues about Red Claw. And now, he was back home in Japan, sitting in the seat Daimao used to sit in, doing the same tasks he'd likely done for decades. An idle thought made him wonder if he'd last that long. An optimistic one answered, no, he'd last longer.
Turning around, he gazed out the window of the office, which offered a nice view of the Tokyo skyline. even if it was broken up by the countless other skyscrapers line around them. The agency was located in the heart of Tokyo, and therefore, the heart of Japan. Hundreds of thousands passed through it's street every minute. Young, old, wise, naive, tall, short, powerful, weak. All manner of person lived in the city, worked in it, made the gears of society spin. But with the population came an underworld many would rather ignore. Crime, while not threatening to overtake the day, was still far to common. Walking down the wrong alley could cost a person at best, their wallet, and at worst, their life. And those were just the normal criminals, your average thugs. Things got more complicated once Quirk-usage became involved. Once the criminals started getting grander ideas.
But that's what they were here for. The Hero Association. To stop those ideas from coming to fruition, and to stamp out any others that might sprout in their place. And while this kind of work is what Monarch specialized in, heroes also had a multitude of other roles and duties. Crisis response, community outreach, research, and as he'd also undertaken recently, education. All important aspects of society that heroes helped maintain. But with all this going on, it'd be easy for confusion to happen, miscommunications, overlaps. Which was why it was common for heroes who operated in the same area to get together and collaborate. Throw ideas around, discuss problems, air grievances. Kind of like a book club, for justice.
"Nori, have some of the staff prepare the conference room for the meeting." He spoke to his virtual assistant, who appeared on top of his wristwatch in the form of a green-hued secretary. She nodded, then blipped away, leaving Demura to his thoughts for the moment. They usually rotated these things, the meetings being open to all who wanted to attend. This time, it was his turn, a duty which he'd taken seriously. Coffee, despite it being near noon, little sandwiches, and donuts were prepared in the conference hall, where he'd also wait as well, sitting at the long table that occupied its center, viewing the news.

Skald wasn’t a part of any agency, she had no real connections to the hero world save for a sparse few heroes that she met through various traffics. She knew some faculty to UA for sure but it wasn’t anything that gave her an edge on her competitors. Well. She didn’t consider them that; she more considered them coworkers. She had her own patrols that often overlapped with other heroes. But they didn’t fight over what happened; if anything it pushed them to protect those under their watchful gaze.
Being in the ‘field’ for as long as she had she knew that she needed that to change. So when it came across her small information window that there was a meeting going on… She wanted to attend. So she got herself a bunch of cookies, several gallons of milk and a few plates. Figuring whatever group would probably be hungry.
Walking down the street the very first thing she realized that she was horribly dressed down, not being in her hero uniform… Ontop of also noting that it was a fairly well known agency. That of monarch. Her ears flicked and she’d stare up at the building.
Oh. Of all days to wear my civvies…
She’d push the door open with one of her tails, looking around and probably gaining a few stares while she was at it. Humming to herself she recalled where her information said the meeting was and headed up there! Pushing the door open to the conference room with a cheerful greeting-
”Helllo~”
Only to realize she was the first here, holding several platters of cookies and so much milk a cow would wonder what the hell she was doing with it. The face she was greeted with was no other than Dauntless and for her to be Maelstrom; another name that wasn’t exactly as high up on the list but…
First impressions were rather important and she’d blink, her free tail coming up to push her red tinted glasses up. Taking in the fact yes indeed she was first! Her orange vest scrunched a little bit and she’d adjust, placing the cookies on the meeting table. She felt silly bringing cookies if there were sandwiches, donuts and coffee!
”If I had know there was food prepped I’d of brought something else! Dauntless I presume?”

''Looks like Ah'm early!'' Kazashi beamed, putting her hand up to give Demura and Skald a small wave, immediately turning towards the snacks to get a cup of coffee and a couple of sandwiches. No hero could hero without a little bit of fuel after all! She was a relatively new pro hero all things considered, and while she had been working out of Tokyo for a while, there were still many heroes she hadn't met personally. Oftentimes she basically relied on knowing them through UAU which she had attended in the past. ''Thank ya for hostin' this thing!'' She said to Demura specifically, before she got into her seat and put her snacks down, bowing her head politely. ''Ah'm Apparel, lookin' forward ta workin' with ya!'' She also wasn't wearing her hero outfit, as it was still being fixed up after a recent destructive run-in her and Pretender had with a couple of villains. Then again, due to the nature of her quirk it was debatable how necessary a hero costume even was, since it could be argued that Kaz was the outfit herself. ''Ah heard yer the new combat instructor at UAU, how's the job treatin' ya?'' She smiled at Demura, before turning to Skald and finally taking notice of the cookies and milk. ''Yer Maelstrom, right? Ah've heard good things about ya.'' With her eyes on the fox lady and without looking directly at the cookies at all, she transformed her left hand into a red scarf, letting it slither across the table before wrapping around one of the cookies and retracting quickly. Transforming her hand back to normal, she took a sizable bite out of the cookie. Taking careful sips from her coffee, Kaz would continue to watch every hero as they entered the meeting, not only to confirm who her current and future allies were, but also so she knew who Chuck might be facing in the future. She needed to look out for her man after all. Demura Kanoskald

Right behind Kaz by coincidence of timing more than anything, Mochi did pretty much the same thing - raise one hand up over her head, give a "Hoiiii!" of greeting to everyone present, and make a beeline for the coffee and sandwiches. Glancing at what Kaz had grabbed for herself, the blonde gave her a gentle little nudge with her more squishy than boney elbow. "Comin'around on coffee huh, Kaz-chan?"
Granted, it was entirely possible that her friend would have gotten hot chocolate if it was available - but as a coffee advocate Mochi wasn't going to pass up a chance to tease.
Sipping on her coffee while Kaz introduced herself, Mochi chimed in afterwards. Not wearing her hero suit either, for the same reason as Apparel, Mochi took a quick bite of a sandwich and swallowed before introducing herself. "Yeah, thanks! I'm Pretender, by the way!" Then she went right back to sipping at her coffee, blue eyes watching as the red scarf snagged a cookie. She cracked a smile around the lip of her cup, but she didn't say anything - snitches got stitches, at least when it was your friend and harmless stuff like a cookie!
When the conversation turned briefly to UAU, Mochi gave a quiet "ohhh" of interest, curiously turning her attention to Demura - she hadn't heard about a new combat instructor, personally. Or if she had she had forgotten, probably due to being busy at the time? Either way she didn't know Demura from her time at UAU not that long ago. "Is that going well? Are they as crazy as ever over there?"
Like Kaz, Mochi was going to note everyone that came in - giving little waves and repeating her "Hoiii!" greeting every time a new face appeared. After a bit, she was also going to slink over to Skald and make a little grabby gesture as her way of asking if she could snag a cookie too.

His head turned as he heard the door open at the first arrival's approach, catching sight of the casually dressed visage of a foxlike person, holding up a tray of cookies and milk. An easy smile came to his face as he stood up and crossed the room towards them. Demura liked to keep track of the local heroes within Tokyo, it made collaborations and team-ups smoother to get through. If you knew who your partners were and what they could do, making a game plan was always so much simpler. Maelstrom, he was familiar with, mostly because her abilities reminded him of his mother's and grandfather's. In interviews, she always displayed a professionalism that he respected. She also had a couple years of experience over him as both a hero and a police officer.
"You can just call me Kano, if you want. And I usually find the more the better in these things. Keeps people from getting too grumpy. Feel free to dig in, I was just watching some of the daily news while wa-", his voice cutting as one figure, and then a second one strolled in almost seconds behind each other. Apparel and Pretender, names he recognized, if not their faces, as fairly recent to hero scene, compared to him and Maelstrom. "What, did everyone carpool? And did I miss the message saying it was casual Friday?" He pulled on the collar of his jacket, which was just one part of his hero suit, and game himself a once over as if genuinely surprised. He then snapped his fingers as if disappointed by the fact.
"More than happy to. Not doing much else with the space, honestly." He said to Apparel. "As far as being an instructor... I think it's needed. Some of the students know what they're doing, and have at least the basics down, but a lot of them don't even have that. And then you add in different mindsets, goals, philosophies, morals... kind of a mess. Not sure how it was when you two graduated, but my class were focused. Disciplined." He let out a sigh as he shook his head and transitioned out of the mood he'd put himself in.
"But what about you all? How are your careers going? Television interviews and social media can only tell so much." He asked, looking at all of them.

She wasn’t familiar with every single hero, but the two that came after her she had heard a little about. Apparel was someone that could to the best knowledge that she had turn into pieces of apparel. That was the extent of her knowledge regarding her and pretender she had a vague understanding of their quirk as well. Her information regarding the other heroes was not… the best in terms of in-depth break downs.
”Good to meet you, yeah I’m Maelstrom.”
She’d give the clothing hero a small smile and return that little wave. Not bothered at all about the fact they were taking a cookie; it was after all the reason she brought them! With mochi coming over and making the gestures skald chuckled and slid one of the platters her way…
”I’ll admit I’m not the most familiar with many heroes, freelance work and having to manage everything limits it when even that is left wanting.”
Her lack of collaborations or team ups made it really difficult for her to establish more than simple responses on her patrol routes. But knowing that she could call Dauntless Kano would make things very easy.
”I’ll keep that in mind. Ya’ll can just call me Skald then. Less of a mouthful. As for the clothes uh… well. I wasn’t sure if I should come dressed to impress or just chill.”
The question regarding her own career was met with a moment that left skald unfortunately sighing and sagging her shoulders a little bit. Bright and optimistic but she was also realistic to a degree.
”I’m left to responding rather than preventive measures. My patrols are often limiting and damage control; I can only run so fast to the point of where things are happening and while the media coverage has been positive… Some people have been questioning why I’m not on scene immediately. Otherwise? Crime in my strip has been somewhat lower than usual especially after some assistance from some old blood.”
