"C'mon, ya rascal...I know you don't like the vet, but at least even Lapis is behaving!!"

Jack grumbled as he attempted to get Opal's harness on her, which she knows her owner ever puts on her when they go to the vet so that she wouldn't get too far. Even though both she and Lapis were a lot smarter than most animals, even they knew that the vet wasn't always the greatest of times. No amount of treats and coaxing could ever get either of them to like it. At least Lapis was smart enough not to really argue with Jack too much, knowing he was probably going to get him that nice tuna flavored cat ice cream he liked so much.

Opal, on the other hand, was much harder to convince. He swore, they stuck a thermometer up her back one time, and since then she always made sure to give Jack hell whenever it was time. Honestly, He was both grateful and nervous that he had waited until after he had gotten Opal and Lapis' registration into Japan to actually go ahead and get their annual check-ups. It was already stressful enough during that whole approval process - it helped that their intelligence, obedience and Quirked selves gave them a bit of leeway.

After roughly 10 minutes of annoyed yipping, biting of noses, and general fox nonsense later, Jack finally managed to get the harness on her. He exhaled, knowing that at least the hard part of it all was over. At least, depending on how the duo would act with these new doctors. He honestly never knew with them sometimes.

Nonetheless, after giving them both a big hug and kisses, the trio were quick to get out and about towards the next train to Shibuya. He had searched for a high-reviewed vet to go to, so he knew that he could trust whoever he ended up with with the lives of his bebes. After a long train ride, plenty of stares from children and adults alike, and lots of love from strangers overall, the dragon boy and his companions would reach their destination.

"Now, please just promise to behave..." he said to the two of them, giving them a stern look. Lapis, understanding what he was getting out of it, simply let out a low 'mrow' and nodded. Opal, meanwhile, proceeded to get in Jack's face and start licking at him relentlessly. He didn't really know if that was a plea to go home or a very enthusiastic yes. Either way, the dragon boy chuckled, before heading inside the clinic with them.

He took a deep breath, but smiling warmly he would nod at the other people inside as he would head to the front desk. "Allo! I have appointments for Opal and Lapis?"

She's busy typing records up when the nurse pokes their head through the door, panic written all over their face as they struggle to unravel the words on their tongue.[break][break]

"What is it? Another polar bear?"[break][break]

She hadn't scheduled another date for Zenkai Hatake to bring his pet in for a check-up, so she's really only left wondering what could be.[break][break]

"N- no, it's a lynx! A- and a fox...?"[break][break]

Silence blankets the room for a moment. Then it's broken by a quiet inhale, Tamaki pinching the bridge of her nose as she closes her eyes.[break][break]

"How are people even getting licenses for such creatures?"[break][break]

What are their living conditions? What are their diets? How are they managing with their differences in environment? Are they stressed with having to stay within a city instead of the great outdoors? Far too many welfare issues crop up in her mind but she needs to focus on what must be done now.[break][break]

"Get the usual stuff, then send them in."[break][break]

Size, weight, temperature - Basic measurements can be taken outside her office, but she really hopes that their owner brought in whatever past medical records they have. When the nurse takes their leave with a click of her door, she sighs, leaning back into her seat as she clasps her hands in a prayer.[break][break]

Do your best, they said. It'd be fun, they said. Heaven truly has cursed her in her first year.

Annnd now the real headache began.

Once the nurse got the go-ahead from the vet, she would come back still looking mighty shocked about...well, everything. Jack scratched the back of his head, chuckling a bit in embarrassment, knowing that really any Quirked or normally wild animal was probably a sight to see, much less two of them. If this were back in the days before Quirks, this would probably be the type of event that would go all over the news. Now, though? Just an odd day at the most.

Overall, the basics went by pretty smoothly. Healthy weights, standard sizes...admittedly, though, Jack did stop the nurse for a moment when she was about to go for Opal's temperature. "Ah...lemme hold her. She hates this part." he said, holding onto Opal firmly, keeping her looking at him and scratching at her chin to at least distract her, until...

"AWOOOWOOOOOOO!!!!"

Basically the signal that they were done with the basics, Jack would sign any additional paperwork and pay any fees then and there. After all that, it would finally be time to head into the vet's office. Definitely still a sight to behold, though: a short dragon boy, a fox that could pass for a yokai, and a blue lynx with an electrifying look in his eyes.

Jack, now looking more relaxed now that the worst of it was probably over, smiled warmly at the doctor as the trio entered. "How're you doing, doc?" he greeted, extending his hand for a shake. "Jack Orion. And this..." he started, before gesturing over to the relaxed feline of the room, "...is Lapis. Don't let the glare fool ya, he's a sweetheart. And this ball of loudness and energy is Opal. Sorry about the yelping in there." He held Opal in his arms, the small fox panting as she clung to Jack tightly, showing fear of the vet but trust in her owner, at least.

She hears the howl ring loud and clear, ruining that brief moment of peace she'd made for herself. And with that, she'll prep her room for the consultation, lifting the table to provide ample space for the animals about to enter. When the door opens, however, she finds that she needs to remind herself that the patients being focused on include a fox and a lynx. Not a dragon.[break][break]

Thankfully, not a dragon.[break][break]

"Doing well, as always. Though I must say, you have quite the exotic choice of companions, Mr Orion. Almost gave my dear nurse a scare." She offers a smile, taking his hand and returning the shake. "Tamaki Hoshino. It's a pleasure to meet you, and you two as well."[break][break]

Given just how nervous Opal seems, she won't quite be reaching out to touch the fox for now. But she'll most definitely offer a hand to Lapis, if only to let him remember her scent and to see whether he'd be willing to let her touch him.[break][break]

"Don't worry about the yelping. She's definitely not the first, nor the last to hate that part. But she really is a brave little warrior for going through with it."[break][break]

Heaven knows how many times she's heard yelping down the corridor. Perhaps, she should be around to watch them take temperatures at least once, just to see if it's due to some error on their end.[break][break]

"So... how have things been going recently with Lapis and Opal? Done anything fun recently? Taken them for some outing or good food?"

Jack chuckled as the doctor would mention her nurse. Shaking her hand and remembering her name, he would nod and honestly looked a bit embarrassed. "Believe me, hardly the first time. Heck, when Lapis was still a cub and we found out that he wasn't just a house cat I think my last vet back in America almost had a heart attack," he replied, laughing happily at the memory.

Speaking of Lapis, when Tamaki would reach her hand out to Lapis, the lynx would sniff at it for a moment, before gently placing his chin on top of it, tongue out in a blep and looking rather content. Jack would smirk at his larger companion, shaking his head at the animal and laughing again. "Like I said, don't the looks fool ya. Lapis wouldn't hurt a fly, much less a person. We trained him and Opal good in that regard at least. Even if the latter is still in her hyper days..." he said, patting Opal on the back as the fox would slowly start to calm down, sensing Jack's cheerful attitude as a sign to.

As the doctor would then ask how things have been going, and overall if Jack had been taking them out, the dragon boy would nod. "Things have been going well, since the move. Adjusting to the UA dorms really good, and I did take em out to this nice seafood place that did have pet-friendly options. I don't think I've seen either of em gobble down a plate of fish so fast! I even asked em for the recipe so I can make it for them as an extra treat, especially if they behave."

Putting emphasis on the last part, and Opal being the smart little fox she was, the little fox would finally hop down onto the examination table and sit down, tail wagging around like a hummingbird's wings. A light yip and a more cheerful attitude about her now, she would even approach the vet after a second, to sniff her out herself.

"I can imagine. They are really smart and beautiful companions though. I don't think anyone would be afraid of them after spending a little time."[break][break]

In truth, she nearly would have shared the same range of emotions had it not been for their little polar bear patient. And she'll keep her movements small so as not to scare Opal when the fox dares move a little closer.[break][break]

"That restaurant sounds lovely, I'd probably love to go there sometime. Is it located near UA?" Humming, she lets Opal have a bit more time to get settled around her before turning her attention back to Lapis. One knee on the ground allows her to get that bit closer to the lynx, a free hand tugging at her stethoscope and gently resting it on his leg. And she'll do the same for little Opal, just to see how well she takes to it.[break][break]

It isn't all that cold, but she would rather them not be jumping around if they're not used to the sensation.[break][break]

"How often do you slip them that little treat? Are the ingredients hard to get?"[break][break]

Little questions are peppered as she continues to watch their behaviour, her gaze drawn towards Jack Orion every so often to gauge whether she has both his attention and honesty.

Jack would smile and nod at the doctor's comforting words towards his two companions. She was right, of course - even he had been a bit scared at first when he had first gotten them. However, after spending only an hour with them both, it was clear the bond that had formed between them would be a strong one. Honestly, without them, he didn't think he would have gotten over his own insecurities over the last few years. He was grateful to them both for that one, and they both knew that well.

As they spoke, Opal would slowly move closer and stop shaking as much towards Tamaki. The small fox was still getting used to the new country, at least moreso compared to Lapis, who basically adjusted immediately. Still keeping a glance towards her, Jack would continue to mention about the restaurant, to which the good doctor would inquire about, particularly about the little dish that he had given them.

He would actually pull up his phone, searching up where the restaurant was. "It's not too terribly far away, no. As for the dish, it was...ah, this." he said, showing the doctor a picture of a cooked salmon with what looked like a purple, fruity sauce. "Cooked salmon with added protein, drizzled in a blueberry and strawberry mixed sauce. Of course, I had done my research before giving them anything, but they both loved it! Simple to make too, so I make it for them once a week or so," he explained.

As he did, Lapis would approach closer towards Tamaki, letting her perform her examination without any hassle. He would even sniff at her face while she did so, purring as he got more comfortable. He had his own glance towards Opal as Tamaki moved over to her, ever protective of his little sister. Honestly, he reminded Jack more of his sister than Opal did, and she was the fox here. He smirked, patting him lightly on the head. The moment Tamaki touched her, Opal would start sniffing excitedly at her as well, making small little noises as she did so.

Listen, observe. Ask pertinent questions, obtain details and note them down. The check-up isn't anything special, save for her having to take a few double takes on certain readings and quick searches on vaccinations. All the time, she's making sure to spare each of her clients equal amounts of attention, answering any questions that might arise to the best of her ability.[break][break]

"Well, their teeth look good. No problems with vision or hearing as far as I can tell. You've been taking real good care of them so it's no wonder that they're happy and healthy." A rather rare smile graces her lips, sharp canines peeking through as her tail slowly drips off her chair. Any interactions that Opal and Lapis wish for are entertained, her touch remaining gentle to prevent the rare bit of scales on her hands from leaving a scratch.[break][break]

Quick time check. She's not doing too bad for the session and if nothing else crops up, she'll be getting her break as promised! But she can't just shoo him off, that'd be considered rude...[break][break]

"Good news, huh, Opal? You're so healthy that I don't have to give you any injections." She teases, "You'd probably hate me if I did that to you on your first visit."
