» NAME: Dekker
» AGE: 24
» GENDER: Male
» AFFILIATION: Villain
» ALIAS: Gambit
» OCCUPATION: Heretic/Sugar Baby
[attr="class","body"]
Gambit is a man that has given himself to the river of life and goes with the flow. To him, the world is a kill or be killed place where only the strongest survive, and those like him that appeal to said strong ones. Threats aren't very effective on him, not because he is immune, but because he will give you whatever you want if you're strong enough to threaten him in the first place. He lives by appeasing to others like a junkie mooch, mostly because his fear doesn't allow him to have a normal job or live a proper life, so he'll do anything to survive despite that.
Because of a mix of his natural cowardly nature and his quirk, Gambit is almost constantly in a state of fear to some degree. Due to his past, his mind snapped long ago and he has simply embraced the terror to survive, even coming to enjoy it. To put it simply, he is a fear-junkie that enjoys putting himself in danger and causing problems for everybody. He also is highly addicted to illegal substances trying to cope with his fear.
If his life is truly in danger, however, Gambit can switch in a second and become alarmingly violent to protect himself. Although he isn't strong, he has no issues fighting dirty and can be dangerous close-quarters when his life is on the line.
Lastly, beneath the fear and gremlin energy, Gambit just wants to be useful to someone. Because of his childhood he lacks any real self-worth, and he craves attention yet doesn't know how to get it without being self deprecating in the process. He sees himself as a weakling with nothing to offer but himself, either as a lackey or pet.

» HEIGHT: 5'7
» WEIGHT: 132lbs
» EYE COLOR: Red [Glow Magenta]
» HAIR COLOR: Cobalt
» SKIN COLOR: Fair
» FACE CLAIM NAME: Ran
» FACE CLAIM SERIES: Blackstar -Theater Starless-
Gambit is a handsome lithe man with cobalt hair and red eyes. Due to his quirk causing his eyes to glow magenta depending on his fear, and the fact that he is almost always scared to some degree, people often mistake his eye color as magenta rather than the dark red underneath. He has no personal tastes in style, rather wearing whatever he can get his hands on or is given.
His organs, especially his heart and arteries, are stronger than the average person. They are capable of handling more stress, which stops his fear from giving him constant heart attacks.

Dekker was born to a linage of criminals and degenerates, but proud ones. As a child he was often bullied by his siblings for being a coward and treated like the runt, and it only got worse as his Quirk manifested. After all, he was a dud. His father's quirk could summon horrors, and his mother's could induce terror in others... and yet his quirk was a failure in their eyes. Although he could materialize horrors, he had no control over what they looked like or their size, or if they appeared at all. If that wasn't already a failure, his mother's quirk had resulted in his quirk amplifying his own fear instead of other's, and it was directly tied to his horrors.
If his position in the family hadn't already been rock bottom, his quirk cemented it. Two of his siblings, Jago & Declan, had powerful variations of their parent's quirks, and even his third sibling, Luella, had their mother's quirk at least and was still treated better than Dekker. His parents called him a failed project, but they ignored him and let him stay so long as he took care of himself and didn't get in their way. His siblings however, weren't as kind. They often found his fear hilarious and would use their quirks to torment him, going as far as to sick horrors on him for entertainment.
This led to Dekker spending most days away from home wandering the city to scrounge what he could to survive, often following older boys and getting into trouble stealing from stores or running drugs. As he reached his teens, he often surfed couches or at worst would find somewhere safe to sleep outside if he really had to, anything to avoid his family.
On a night such as this, Dekker was looking for a safe place to crash for the night when he stumbled on a secluded tree house in the rich side of the city. As he hauled himself up into it hoping for a place to hide, he instead came upon Beau for the first time and was almost immediately drawn to the other boy. Instead of fleeingas he was caught trespassing, he flopped down and talked to him, too tired to even try and run. Amazingly, the two hit it off.
They continued to meet in secret at the secluded treehouse over the next two years, although only occasionally when they could both escape their family's gazes. Despite that, it wasn't long before the two became increasingly close, and Dekker had the sudden realization that he didn't think of the other boy as just a friend. He knew his family would kill him if they knew he had feelings like that for a guy. Yet knowing that still didn't stop him from falling head-over-heels for Charm, and soon he was all Dekker cared about in his shitty little world.
The only good memories Gambit has to this day were made in that treehouse, making absurd plans about the future, telling stories, and just talking about themselves and their lives. At least, as much as Dekker dared say about his life. He couldn't deny it was an abusive situation, but he opted to leave out just how fucked his family was. Perhaps that had been his first mistake. Letting Beau tell him about his family's quirk had been the second.
Everything seemed to be going amazing, until his family destroyed everything. Dekker had been walking on the street when the car pulled up and he was unceremoniously snatched inside. After a short drive he was dumped out onto the driveway of his family home before his brothers dragged him inside. In what felt like the blink of an eye, Dekker was kneeling in front of his father and mother like a felon facing a firing squad.
His brother had spied on him and seen him messing around with another guy and 'slandering their name', but they also knew that the boy was from a rich family, and were willing to negotiate if Dekker told them what he knew. Despite being a coward, this was the one time in his life that Dekker refused, and his family did not take it well. He was locked in a dark room with his brothers, and after a few hours the terror induced from their quirks simply broke him. In the process they got enough of what he knew to head out with the intention of kidnapping their brother's lover, Beau.
Meanwhile, Dekker was saved by the pity of his big sister Luella, who found him curled up on the floor in the room. While their family was distracted going after Beau, Luella managed to carry Dekker to her car and sneak away to the shipping yard. There she paid an illegal contact to get her brother out of the country despite not being a registered civilian, whatever country the ship was headed to was good enough. Thus he was loaded into a shipping container, and the last thing he saw was Luella turning away before the doors closed. He never learned what happened to the person he cared about most, and when he regained consciousness he was in Japan on the other side of the ocean, alone with no way back.

QUIRK NAME: Horror Monger
QUIRK RANK: B-
QUIRK TYPE: Emitter
QUIRK DESCRIPTION:
User is able to materialize the horrors in their mind and give them a temporary physical form. This quirk amplifies the user's fear and causes hallucinations of horrors that only the user can see. If the user chooses to do so, they can bring a hallucination into physical form for a limited duration of time.
~Flavor: Due to his quirk; his eyes glow magenta, the intensity raising with his level of fear.
QUIRK DRAWBACKS:
User has no control over what horrors appear in their hallucinations, if any. The stronger the user's fear the higher the likelihood of them seeing a horror, as well as a higher chance of stronger and larger horrors appearing to them. However, the higher the user's fear the less control they have over their materialized horror. Because of this, with anything roughly larger than a car the risk begins to outweigh the reward due to the amount of fear already required to see such horrors in the first place, which leaves very little leeway to maintain control.
If they loose control of it, the horror will treat the user as another target until the user is either unconscious/dead, or it dematerializes. Since these horrors drain energy from the user, they will dematerialize if the user's stamina hits empty. Since they are physical, they can also be forcefully dematerialized by killing them.
User is linked to the horror while it is materialized, and the horror can not leave a limited range area around the user, essentially tethering it to them. User feels damage taken by the horror, but not vice versa, and the user is not physically harmed by injuries given to the horror.
Although he can see larger horrors, Gambit's absolute limit for materializing is any one horror up to the size of a house. This is due to the human body simply lacking the stamina required to feed anything larger, and thus trying to do so will result in immediate death.
