Miroru slid into the Support workshops without fanfare and shut the door behind herself. She felt weird being here, like she didn't belong. She wasn't here to design some technological marvel capable of protecting heroes or taking down criminals in the blink of an eye. Really, she wasn't here to make anything that was, objectively, particularly useful at all- but to her, with her particularities fueling it, hopefully it'd prove a particularly potent tool in her work as a hero.

... hopefully.

She started by immediately heading towards the well-cataloged parts bins and rummaging. She had a very basic understanding of what she wanted to do- a pair of armored boots to serve as a mobility aid, with built-in jets her quirk could power and control. She had ideas for how she could use her quirk alone for control- build the power source completely independent of the jets she wanted to use for thrust, and create connections between the jets she wanted to use and the power source on the fly, without any technological way to bridge those gaps to prevent possible hijacking- but it was all just a bunch of theory if she couldn't find the right parts.

So that's where she started.

Hiyori's attempt to make a name for herself as someone who can build things for people had not been going well. It'd only been a few days, but even so, she expected *some* sort of success, not what she had experienced so far. Either she was going about it wrong, or all these silly heroes had their own engineers, or worse, thought they didn't need one at all!

She had grown bored of sitting around outside waiting for people to become interested in the services she could offer, and instead decided to go sit where there was air conditioning. So, she had wandered towards UA's workshop and found a place to sit down. She tucked her feet underneath herself and whipped out a tablet which she'd been staring at for at least a good half hour. It wasn't fun, but it was something to keep herself occupied - and she could learn a bit while she was at it.

Her curiosity was piqued when some girl wandered in and began rummaging around their supplies. She seemed to have a mission, but was struggling to find the proper parts. Hiyori just shook her head.

"Need some help over there?" Hiyori chirped as she put her tablet down.

Miroru squawked as she was addressed, so focused on part hunting that she hadn't accounted for people already being inside the room when she had glanced over the energy signals present before entry. Nobody had really been moving around, and in sheer shock, she vanished entirely for a couple seconds before sheepishly relaxing and letting light flow normally around her body again. "Er... hello. Um. Sort of. I don't mean to be a bother. I have a very particular technical design I'm trying to complete, but I'm not super familiar with where the parts are or the machining equipment. I was hoping I could find something simple for like. A proof of concept sort of deal? But I'm having an issue finding things."

She took a deep breath, trying to calm down. "I'm Miroru." No family name offered. "I'm looking to build an inverted electromagnet around a jet propulsion system. I don't need to generate an EM field, I want to use one to power the rotation and thus create thrust via the rotation of the propellers inside. But I also need them to be small- I need them for personal propulsion, and I want to fit them into a pair of boots." She cleared her throat, trying to steady herself further. "I've done the math and the numbers work out, but it's the first time I've tried to construct something and I didn't want to bother anybody." Another moment of awkward pause. "Do... you want to help me?"

Hiyori just sort of stares at Miroru for a moment after she finishes talking. It had been a bit of a rant, maybe a little rambling included, but it was at least coherent, unlike some other requests she'd heard students make in the last hour or so.

"That sounds like some fancy stuff. You'll probably need to put in a request to get some of that, otherwise you'll end up looking forever and never finding any," Hiyori set her device down and turned the stool she was seated upon to face Miroru.

"However, it might be your lucky day," Hiyori gave her the smuggest smirk she could muster. "If I know what I am doing, I have no need for materials."

She let out a sigh and turned back to her tablet. "You'll need to provide some sort of diagram of what you want, otherwise you'll just get whatever I come up with."

"You do that, I'll make you whatever you want, even if it might not be as nice as what some of the older students can do."

"Oh." That... made a lot of sense. "Is that how it works? I thought the labs just had like... a little bit of everything and it was just a matter of finding the right stuff. That... no, that's way more logical." She blinked as the tiny girl set down her device and swirled on her stool to face Miroru more directly.

"Lucky day? Yea, really? If you know what you're doing- is that in question? Do you mean "if I explain what I need" or "I might be totally full of crap"? Cuz I could see that being taken both ways..."

She still wasn't sure she entirely understood, but she lit up at the request for a diagram. She hurried over to Hiyori's stool with a dalmation notebook and cracked it open, showing her the designs for the inverted magnet assembly, designed to induce the rotation of the central rotor. It was basically an electric motor without any controls or power system, strange as that sounded.

"Do you think you can whip up something like this?"

Hiyori begins the construction of an item, and hopes that it will turn out well!

"There's definitely a lot of stuff just lying around, but the stuff that is harder to come by, rarer things, more expensive things, those are generally per request just so someone doesn't go and blow through like a hundred-thousand worth in raw materials making something stupid," Hiyori replied as Miroru started showing her the diagram.

Hiyori looked over the diagrams and any other details that Miroru had accumulated for her plan and considered it for a moment. It wasn't the most complicated thing she had ever made, but it was one of the first things she'd ever seriously undertaken on behalf of someone else, which meant that expectations were different.

"Yeah, I should be able to do this," Hiyori set the notebook aside and started unbuttoning her blouse. "Just give me five minutes or so and we should be good."

Hiyori slipped her shirt off to reveal a pretty typical sports bra, but more importantly, the numerous ports across her back. Within moments, a series of cables sprouted from them like mecha-tentacles and set to work, utilizing Hiyori's nanites to molecularly assemble the requested design in the space before Hiyori.

"How about you go get me one of those ice cream treats from the vending machine down the hall - the strawberry ones. When this is done, I'm going to need something," She nonchalantly when back to browsing her tablet while her mecha-tentacles did their job.

"Oh, that makes sense," Miroru admitted. "Do you think they had that rule in place when the labs were founded? Or did someone sit down and be like "I wonder how many microprocessors I can hook up parallel before someone stops me"?" Wondered the redhead.

She stood by quietly while Hiyori went over the diagram, a little worried it might be too expensive, or too complex, but Hiyori responded positively- and started to undo her blouse.

Miroru had no idea how to react to that and blinked rapidly. When the shirt came off entirely, Miroru turned around and squawked, "OKAYI'LLLEAVEYOUTOIT" as she hurried off to fuss with the storage bins and familiarize herself as an alternative to staring at the possibly topless girl working on her gear. She didn't look to confirm if anything else came off! It wasn't worth the risk!

"Ice cream! Got it! Be right back!" Miroru croaked as she side-stepped over to the door and more or less scampered out to go find Hiyori a treat!

While Miroru goes to fetch a snack for Hiyori, she gets to work making the item.

"Uhh... I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me if they had run into people blowing through a bunch of rare or expensive materials on stupid things," Hiyori replied thoughtfully. "It makes sense that anything like that would be regulated - at least a little bit."

Hiyori glanced over at Miroru when she squawked. It was an awkward and amusing sound that got a chuckle from the young engineer, but she turned back to her work. She didn't need to focus too much once the plan was locked in place, but it didn't hurt to keep an eye on things.

The mecha-tentacles wrapped around Hiyori and slithered up and around the table in front of her until they had arrayed themselves around a singular location. Once in position, they began ejecting strange, metallic material that quickly reformed into something resembling the desired end-product, but it was clearly being built in layers and wouldn't be done for a little while.

When Miroru finally got around to working on her request, Hiyori perked back up. "Remember! Strawberry, or like... orange if they don't have strawberry."

It was nice that Miroru was going through the trouble to fetch the snack. Making things always made Hiyori a little snackish.

Miroru scampered out and hurried to the concession stand and headed for the freezer. It took a little while digging around to find something appropriate- a strawberry shortcake ice cream bar, it looked like- and to get it to the counter and pay for it. She didn't have much spare money- really barely any at all- but this was a pretty huge help, and she didn't mind going out of pocket for a sweet treat to thank Hiyori for her help.

It was hard to get the petite girl out of her head. Seeing her without her shirt hadn't been in the books, but now that she had, the image stuck, leaving Miroru to slap her own cheeks lightly on the way back to try to clear her distraction.

She waited outside for an extra couple of minutes, trying to make sure Hiyori had plenty of time to finish before she barged back in on her potential toplessness, then headed in, waggling the treat! "Strawberry snack acquired!"

Hiyori finished the item that Miroru requested, but considers making some other things while she is at it.

The process of creating an item from nothing but her quirk could be laborious and time consuming, especially if she wanted it to be legitimate and not just dissipate the instant she took her eyes off of it, but Hiyori had done well. Perhaps, more accurately, Miroru had done well with her designs.

By the time Miroru returned, Hiyori had set aside the requested items, let her cables hang down her back and pool at the foot of her stool, and returned to playing games on her handheld device. It hadn't been much, but it was honest work, and functional, too - at least, probably.

When Miroru announced her return, Hiyori lowered her device and looked over. "Hm... did you get lost?"

She set her device down so she could accept the strawberry treat and quickly began savoring it. With her free hand, Hiyori nudged Miroru's items toward her. They looked good, a little rough around the edges, but functional and to the diagrams.

"They should work if your designs were good," Hiyori mumbled around her strawberry treat. "I didn't take the time to test them, though, so you'll have to do that."

Hiyori thought for a moment. "Do you have anything else you want? I'm all set up, so I should make use of it while I am here."

"OH. Um. No, I just- wanted to give you time to... y'know." Miroru said as she handed over the treat. Put your shirt back on, not that it worked... "... finish the project," she ended weakly. With the stuff handed over, she had something else to focus on, and she started to work putting everything together and making room in the boot soles to accept the housing for each. "It's okay. I don't really know how you could have tested it all. It hasn't got controls or a power source- it's entirely going to be managed by my quirk and positioning. Can't hack analog, you know?"

She paused to consider the question. "Right now? No, I don't think so. I'll need to field test these and think of some improvements. I'm sure I didn't nail it the first time. But with some practice, I'm sure I'll have a whole new list of custom parts I'll need."

The redhead looked to Hiyori. "Are you sure there's nothing you want me to do to pay you back besides the snack?"

"Time?" Hiyori mulled that over for a moment. "I suppose I did tell you'd it'd take a while."

Hiyori grinned mischievously as Miroru explained. It was true, she couldn't hack it. She may have been able to find a way to power it without Miroru, after all, Mainframe doesn't play by the rules as long as Hiyori is hooked up.

"I don't have anything else I want, or need, right now," Hiyori replied. "But! You should go out and test those. That way, if they don't work, I can make adjustments before I leave."

Hiyiroi took her game up again and then looked at Miroru. "Of you go."

Hiyori would take the time to play a bit more and maybe make some things to waste time, but she'd done her good deed for the day.
