That morning she got up a lot earlier than she was used to, sitting in her bed for a couple of minutes before she was able to start her day, getting ready to leave UAU campus to go to Tokyo. She had gotten an internship working in construction for Ficsit Inc. and it wasn't something she had thought about before, but construction workers kind of started their day early didn't they? Even as a student at UAU she didn't get up this early. Nevertheless, Freja washed her face, brushed her teeth and her hair and got dressed before she headed out the door, sparing her aluminum bat a cursory glance as she left. No, why would she need to bring her weapon? It would just get in the way of all the manual labor hours she was about to put in. She ran to catch the bus before it left and pulled out her phone once she made it, texting Sumi where she was going and wishing her a good day, before pulling up the address of Ficsit Inc. on her phone. It was always so nerve-wracking going to a new place, whether that was school, work or just an internship. The bus left behind her as she got off at her stop, shielding her eyes from the Sun as she looked around. ''I could have sworn it was here...'' It wasn't until she looked back down at the email she had gotten she realized her mistake. She was supposed to meet them downtown!! Freaking out, she took off running. When she finally did arrive, a couple minutes late and out of breath, there was no doubt she had the right place. A two story storefront was in the middle of being reconstructed with plenty of what she assumed to be Ficsit Inc. workers around. She looked at the storefront again, marveling the progress they had made so far while she tried to recall why so much of the store had been torn down. Wasn't there a recent story about a villain attack on the news? Snapping out of her daydream with a blink of her eyes she turned to the nearest person who looked like they worked there and approached them. ''...Excuse me? I'm here about an internship, my name is Freja Helt.'' She smiled, already reaching for her hero student ID card in case they wanted confirmation. Darius Ficsit

The sun was bright, the day was young, and Darius was doing what he loved best: legally using his super strength to toss heavy shit around. There was a crew of about a baker's dozen men and women—Mr. Ficsit himself included—hard at work. Splashes of bright yellow from hard hats, gloves, and goggles mixed with the dull white-black aesthetic of the workers' uniforms as they moved like a well oiled machine. Darius was technically foreman given he owned the Tokyo branch of the company, but he preferred getting his hands dirty. He couldn't help as feel he was forgetting something...
With a quick leap off the side, his eye caught on a young woman approaching the job site. ...OH RIGHT!
"You look like you ran all the way here," Darius said jokingly, approaching her and the other worker. "I won't dock you for being a few minutes late, just don't make it a habit, yeah? Wouldn't do us any good if our Heroes always showed up after the fact!" He'd been given a heavily redacted sheet on Freja and any pertinent information and intern-taker would need: namely that she was Quirkless but still boasted EXTRAORDINARY physical conditioning. He wasn't one to judge—Hell he did most of his work without flipping the switch on Power-Weight.
"If we're quick enough, we might even get back on schedule for an early lunch." He winked, thumbing over at a completely vacant part of the building. "You're gonna get the full suite today. Laying the foundation all the way up to running utility lines. Sounds like fun, doesn't it!?"

She looked at Darius as he approached and immediately bowed deeply to apologize, her face red with embarrassment. ''I did, sir, I'm really sorry! I missed the bus!'' It stung extra bad because she always made a point of leaving home early so that she could arrive early for a job or appointments. She hated being late, and here she was making him and the whole company wait for her. ''R-Right!'' She chuckled nervously, standing up straight as she rubbed the back of her neck. ''It won't happen again!''At least her boss, or rather the foreman seemed like a really nice guy. She was fully expecting to get yelled at, but all he did was have a laugh. Maybe that was why this place seemed so... Safe? She couldn't quite put her finger on it, and it was just a gut feeling anyway, but it seemed like him and all his workers enjoyed to be here. Was that because if the foreman was free to laugh, they could laugh too? ''Sounds great!!'' She held up a fist, giving her best optimistic smile. ''I'm ready to be put to work! A-And thank you again for giving me a chance! I don't know if you get many hero student interns, but I had always been curious about the work that you do here. I've only ever worked retail...'' She trailed off, realizing that she might be underselling herself. ''...But I'm strong! I train every day!'' She tried to salvage it with a confident smile. Darius Ficsit

He felt a little awkward, wondering if the jokes had come off as legitimate criticism. Or maybe she was just nervous, wanting an official internship to go smoothly for her credits. "Don't worry about it!" He waved her concerns off. "Like I said, just don't make a habit of it." Besides, he was curious. As Freja herself even brought up: "Nah. Not many students are too interested in the civil construction side of things. Lots of interest in the equipment manufacturing from the support course, naturally, but that's about it. I get it. If I was training to be a Hero I wouldn't put much thought toward something like this, either."
He'd gesture for her to follow, moving toward some plastic boxes filled with standard safety equipment. "Hard hat, safety goggles, and gloves. I'll show you the procedure for a safe lift too, if you don't know it already. Everyone working here has to wear this stuff, regardless of Quirk or natural ability. Hell I could probably brush off getting hit in the face with a jackhammer, but safety is safety!"
Next stop was the empty patch of foundation, bare ground greeting them. "My grandad always said that Heroes are civil servants first and should strive to improve their community. I don't have too much of an opinion on students who don't speed their free time interning at places like this, but it's nice to see you interested! And UAU provided me with a rough idea of your physical abilities, so I'll push you pretty hard but nothing outrageous. If you ever feel like you're unsafe or unsure doing something, you have the right to say 'no!' and we'll figure something out."

''Got it, got it!'' No reason to linger on the mistake she had already made. For now, she was ready to learn and be put to work! ''I guess I only became interested recently. I don't have the brain for equipment manufacturing, but I want to learn other skills so that I don't just end up relying on making it big in the hero business, you know?'' She smiled, taking it all in and nodding as he explained the safety equipment. Everyone had to wear it, made sense to her. She was trying on a couple of different hard hats before she found one that fit when her eyes went wide at what Darius just so casually mentioned. ''You could brush that off??'' She asked incredulously. Was he serious? Well, he seemed to be in good shape, but a jackhammer? And in the face?? She didn't think too much about it and finished suiting up before she followed him. ''So this is what it looks like when it's just the foundation...'' She mused. She had seen stuff like this before on TV, but her parents were both office workers so she had never been this up close to something that was under construction. She was a bit surprised to hear that UAU had already given him information about her, but it was probably standard. So he knew she was quirkless, then? ''Oh, did they?'' She chuckled nervously, feeling a little embarrassed. ''My physical abilities are really nothing special, but I won't make any excuses either! I think your grandad sounds like a great guy, and I agree! As a hero, I should help as much as I can, and sometimes that's as a civilian too.'' She straightened her back. ''I'm ready to get to work, boss! Uh, do I call you boss?''Darius Ficsit
