Kyōshū[break]
Takamiya[break]
Name Kyōshū 郷愁 Takamiya 崇宮
Alias Masquerade
Age 21
Gender Male
Affiliation Third Year Student
Department Dept. of Business
Occupation Mangaka
Unable to form or access any concrete memories, Kyōshū is a blank slate. While he is certainly alive, he isn't really living so much as he is simply existing. He has no concept of who he is as a person, and so he is akin to a creature of habit and instinct. At his core, he is a simple, quiet kind man that is conflict-averse. While he isn't really consciously aware of it, he also harbors an artistic soul as he is drawn to the musical and visual arts, often engaging in the arts out of instinct.[break][break]
Because of his quirk, he is incredibly gullible. It doesn't help that he's not a very good judge of character—often assuming the best of people even when they're actually the worst. Part of his being gullible is also what makes him susceptible to his quirk's influence. His quirk quickly paints over Kyōshū's personality, replacing it with its own, putting Kyōshū up to all sorts of dangerous things.[break][break]
Masquerade, his Quirk, is the complete opposite of Kyōshū. Rather than following his feelings, Masquerade acts in a logical fashion (according to his ideology of justice, that is). He holds the belief that the current laws are both inadequate at protecting the people as well as too limiting of their freedom. Masquerade isn't afraid of getting his hands dirty and is not above fighting dirty if it means achieving the outcome that he desires—a world free of unfairness and inequality. [break][break]
Kyōshū is a young man of Japanese descent with styled black hair. He's nearsighted, so wears corrective lenses to fix that little eyesight problem of his. As far as looks go, Kyōshū looks like a rather unsuspecting individual—your average nerdy kid. Outside of his U.A. uniform, he wears rather plain clothing—nothing that really makes him stand out from the crowd.[break][break]
Everywhere he goes, he wears a blank expression on his face as if he's just aimlessly wandering around, unsure of where he is or where he's going. Even in conversation, he may come off as distant and cold although his tone doesn't really indicate that much. Every so often there's a faint glimmer of life in his eyes, but that's usually quick to pass for obvious reasons.[break][break]
At night, Kyōshū becomes the crime-fighting vigilante, adopting the name of his Quirk. He wears a black and white mask, a black ankle-length tailcoat a high-neck waistcoat, black combat boots, and a pair of red gloves.
Meanwhile, Masquerade resembles some sort of demon-like figure that wears an extravagant eighteenth-century-esque ensemble. The outfit is not what he truly looks like; it is simply the way that Masquerade sees itself. How it picked up its sense of fashion Kyōshū will never know.[break][break]

Made of cypress and cedar, the Takamiya farm stood in the Okinawa Prefecture for several generations. The farm had a sort of rustic charm to it—originally built by Kyōshū's great-great-great-great-great-greath-grandfather, Takeshi Takamiya. From the bamboo shutters to the wooden stove, from the barn where the animals were raised and wood was stored and the irrigation canals to the zen rock garden: Takeshi Takamiya was the genius behind it all. It was truly a place untouched by time...[break][break]
Kyōshū's parents were the last of the Takamiya line to remember it. They met on the farm, got married on the farm, and even gave birth to Kyōshū on the farm. Unfortunately, the farm didn't stay in the family past their generate, for a typhoon struck the coast, destroying their crops and doing significant property damage, forcing them to sell their property and move to the mainland.[break][break]
Kyōshū's life was filled with tragedy and grief. He grew up in a poor, crime-riddled part of Tokyo where his parents worked tirelessly to take care of Kyōshū and his grandparents. His father brought home a cold from work which spread to his grandma, killing her in a long, drawn-out battle that put immense pressure on the family. His grandfather later fell into a depressive state and died a couple of years after that. A couple of years after that, his mother was killed during a villain's bank robbery. His father, heartbroken, spiraled into an alcoholic depression, and later took his own life, leaving Kyōshū all alone in this world when he was still in high school. Perhaps the greatest tragedy or greatest mercy of Kyōshū's life was the fact that his Quirk shielded him from all of the painful memories:[break][break]
Amnesia[break][break]
It was his mother's Quirk but with a tragic twist. Whereas Kyōshū's mother was able to selectively delete her own episodic memories, Kyōshū's Quirk indiscriminately deleted all of his episodic memories. It was so uncontrollable that he went his entire life never being able to remember a single thing.[break][break]
Following the death of his parents, he was adopted by his neighbor who was a good friend of the family Keiko Tezuka. She ended up becoming something of a mentor for Kyōshū, teaching him everything that he new about the arts. Prior to her passing away, she got him into contact with her old publisher and got his works serialized which put him on the path to financial stability. She had even gotten him into U.A.'s Business Department, working towards a degree to join the burgeoning industry that was serialized manga based on professional heroes. However, when Keiko passed away from illness around his eighteenth birthday, a dormant part of his quirk awakened: a second personality.[break][break]
Kyōshū began hearing a voice inside his head. It spoke to him, guided him, kept him aware, it helped him gain some semblance of being normal—at least, while it was awake. This voice in his head became his new keeper, taking care of Kyōshū when there was nobody else in the world who could. This did not last forever, however, as it quickly developed its own thoughts, feelings, and ambitions that were independent of Kyōshū. And so it manipulated Kyōshū, tricking him into his life as the vigilante known as Masquerade.[break][break]
Kyōshū's Quirk is a combination quirk wherein one component serves to automatically erase his own episodic memory while the other component is a sentient being referred to as Masquerade. Masquerade has the power to summon chains and flames to bind and burn his enemies. [break][break]
The "Amnesiac" component of Kyōshū's quirk is a mutation that affects his ability to form and store memories. This manifests in the form of anterograde amnesia. Kyōshū typically can only hold information for varying short periods of time ranging from twenty seconds to a maximum of five minutes. Information tends to spontaneously decay at a rapid pace before being completely forgotten altogether. It should be noted, however, that his amnesia mostly affects his episodic memory (memory of events that happened to him) and largely doesn't affect his semantic or implicit memory.[break][break]
The "Masquerade" component is a completely sentient being, possessing its own personality, thoughts, and ambitions. It seeks to right the wrongs of the world and punish evildoers, looking up to the Vigilantes of old as the true paragons of justice in society. Masquerade can conjure chains and a special type of fire that can ensnare and burn a target. When an enemy is struck by the flames, they cling to the enemy, burning only them endlessly until the enemy dies, Masquerade dispels them, or they are snuffed out by some other means.[break][break]
Drawbacks: The greatest drawback of his quirk is Amnesiac. It grants Kyōshū absolutely zero boons and actively works against him in his day-to-day life. The only reason why he's able to even engage in combat is because Masquerade is there to cover for all of his shortcomings. Should his Masquerade ever expend too much energy or be defeated, Kyōshū becomes almost completely defenseless. Even with Masquerade, Kyōshū is still subject to lapses in his memory which may cause him to space out in the middle of a fight, leaving him vulnerable at intermittent moments in battle.[break][break]
Because being defeated puts Kyōshū at significant risk, Masquerade tries not to physically manifest itself, for expending its energy and opening itself up to damage could spell the end for Kyōshū. Unfortunately, Masquerade does need to manifest itself if it wants to give Kyōshū access to his chains and flames. Just as it is risky to expose itself, it is also risky to leave Kyōshū to do all of the fighting alone, for if Kyōshū is ever knocked out, Masquerade cannot manifest itself.[break][break]

Dagger / D-[break][break]
A standard steel dagger with a hole in the center.[break][break]
Masquerade Costume / D-[break][break]
Kyōshū's special gear that he wears whenever he's fighting crime. He doesn't have any access to any sort of Equipment producers, however, so the outfit doesn't really protect him physically so much as it does protect his identity.[break][break]
Vigilant Instinct / C[break][break]
Kyōshū's fighting instinct is actually quite sharp. Kyōshū subconsciously adapts to his opponent's techniques and capabilities. It comes quite in handy for combat situations when he needs to react on the fly due to his quirk causing him to space out at intermittent intervals.[break][break]
Trifecta / C+[break][break]
Trifecta is a special fighting style that Kyōshū doesn't remember learning. Despite not having any conscious idea of what he's doing, his body seems to remember every movement and does everything on its own. It's a combination of weaponless martial arts, firearms usage (specifically handguns), and knifeplay. Kyōshū is capable of weaving all three into a fighting style that excels in close-quarters combat.[break][break]
