Of all the turns her day could have taken when she went out to get sushi, this had to rank up there as one of the most unexpected. She had been well on her way when she saw something of a criminal encounter go down. Big scary guy threatening those weaker than him, the kind of situation that has happened a million times before. She didn't know why but she had been compelled to step in, despite knowing she was a weakling, there was something about seeing the people around him, how scared they were for their lives... Freja knew just how precious a life was too, given she had already lost hers once. Armed with a bat, she had gone to confront the big guy. Which was how she found herself in her current situation, sailing through the air and crashing through the window to the store, the glass shattering into a million pieces as she tumbled onto the hard sidewalk, the grip on her bat almost slipping. She was panting, adrenaline pumping through her body like crazy as she slowly picked herself up, one eye obscured by the blood that rushed down the top of her head to cloud it. ''W-What the hell kinda quirk..'' She coughed, using her bat as support as she pushed herself up to her feet. She had swung at the villain. Multiple times in fact and to what effect? Not. A. Single. Scratch. Not a dent, no 'ow' or even grunt of pain from the villain. She was totally outclassed, or... Going about it the wrong way. Maybe she should have aimed low and attacked his ankles or something? One thing was for sure, no matter what she couldn't run now, not when lives were at stake. Although, she had to admit, she could really do with an actual pro hero showing up right about now. She grimaced as she put her sleeve up to her head to wipe some of the blood away. Jeez, that was a LOT of blood. ''Wh-What are you still doing in there? Think I'm done with you?!'' She called out to the villain, a vain attempt at taunting him to come out and meet her on the street, but why would he? He sat on all the hostages, right? Maybe if she was lucky he would lose his temper like those big dumb bruisers always do in hero comics. She was scared, absolutely terrified, but she would rather be the focus of his ire than it being some innocent civilians. REN

[nospaces] [attr="class","dangerhead"] [attr="class","dangerbody"] [attr="class","dangericon"] [attr="class","dangertxt"] [break][break] The villain’s massive frame would loom over the broken window, shadows concealing his features from the outside world. Having successfully defenestrated that annoying bug, he was just about ready to get back to business. Fortunately for him, and very unfortunately for her, Freja wasn’t ready to back down, and she had made sure the villain knew it.[break][break] With a sadistic grin, he would move out into the light to finish the job. His knuckles cracked in unison with the glass under his feet as he jumped out of the window and onto the back alley where he had tossed this little girl. If she wasn’t careful, the next thing to crack would be her bones. However, before that painful fate could come to pass, another voice would interrupt him from above.[break][break] “Stop right there!”
[break][break] The voice had this nervous, fidgety quality. It was definitely from a boy, who couldn't be much older than Freja. Maybe someone else from the Heroics department? No, it sounded nothing like anyone in his class. “Another one?” Turning to look at the source, the giant would catch the silhouette of a man cloaked in steel. Standing atop a five-story building, both fighters could spot a man in a full set of western armor. Sunlight would reflect off of the metal plates that snuck through the layers of leather, cloth and chainmail. From this distance, he looked like a little ray of light, shining down on this dark alley. On one hand, he could be seen carrying a blue shield with golden flourishes, and on the other, a metal cable, attached to a grappling hook that had made purchase with a nearby fire escape ladder.[break][break] [break][break] “Oh boy, here we go.” After visibly taking a deep breath, the knight jumped off from his perch, using his climbing equipment and the forces of physics to propel himself towards the large assailant. Like a monkey through the jungle, he hung onto that thin piece of wire for dear life as his tiny metal body arched down towards the fight. As he got closer and closer to the man, he’d hold his shield out, hoping to use his momentum to take him down. He could’ve used a spear, like the jousting knights of old, but that would’ve been dangerous, for all he knew, he could’ve just been a normal guy, at least in terms of durability. Getting hit with a javelin, even a blunt one, could kill him, and he didn’t want that![break][break] For a moment there, Ren looked like a real Hero. Swinging from the rooftop and holding his shield out with a grace that could’ve only come from practice. Swooping in to save the day with more valor than brains. It would’ve been glorious. Unfortunately, it only lasted for a moment. [break][break] As his jump began to arch upwards once more, Ren would let go of the wire as he put all 70 measly kilograms of his body weight behind the shield. Like a tiny metallic missile, he would fly towards the big man with what could only be described as reckless abandon. He could see it, the guy didn’t dodge. Holy moly! He was actually going to do it! He was going to hit this! He was going to stop this criminal and save this brave girl! He was-[break][break] SPLAT![break][break] With all the grace of a ten car pile-up, Ren’s body came to a sudden stop. Even with all that speed and all this steel, he could not bring this guy down. In fact, he could not even get him to budge. Inertia would do its part, causing his head to bump against the back of the shield, then, the rest of his body followed suit. After an embarrassingly painful moment, he would plop down onto the ground. It was hard to watch, and even tougher to hear. It sounded like every pot and pan in Freja’s house had been dropped onto the floor, all at once. With gravity and reality crashing down on him, all Ren could do was let out a subtle little whimper. “Ow…” [break][break] The impact had driven every ounce of air from his lungs. His ears began to ring with an echo that seemed like they were bouncing from one part of his helmet to the next. He’d landed right on his arm, which definitely sucked. The worst part, however, is that he had no earthly idea as to what had just happened. He’d tucked his head behind his shield, so he couldn’t see what kind of ability this man had used. From his perspective, he’d hit the man with everything he had, and it just hadn’t been enough.[break][break] [attr="class","dangerfoot"] [attr="class","dangernotes"]

The villain wasn't the only who stopped to look in the direction of the voice as it called out for him to stop. There was a nervous quality to their tone, but there was no doubt, someone had come to help her. She looked up, was it a hero? Maybe if she was lucky it was a pro who had come to save her, who could handle this all on his own. A man in shining armor, who better to save the day? She felt a sense of relief wash over her. She had no clue how she was going to match this huge villain alone, but now that someone else was here to take over she could finally breathe easy. With the way the sunlight was reflecting off of her hero, it was almost like the heavens themselves had sent him. She watched, mouth open in awe as he jumped and swung from the building. Was he about to do one of those trademark superhero landings? This guy had to be the real deal! A real pro hero... The villain who was in the trajectory of Ren, calmly watched him as he came sailing towards him, activating his quirk just before the young man would slam into him. Like little flowers, bucklers sprouted of his arms and torso, before flying out to put a very visible barrier between the two of them, leaving Ren to unceremoniously splat all over the hard ground below them as Freja watched in abject horror. Shit that looked brutal was he... Was he dead? Part of her was relieved to hear him whimper, but part of her was also horrified at the implication. This guy wasn't a strong pro hero at all! He was just some dude in armor!! ''Are you... Okay?'' She asked carefully, the villain glancing over his shoulder back at Freja to gauge whether she knew Ren or not, to which she just gave a shrug. ''If you're so eager to die..'' The villain growled, making more bucklers sprout from his hands so that he could use them to squish Ren into a fine paste. However, before he could do any of that, Freja used the opportunity Ren had afforded her to strike from the back, swinging her bat into the back of the villain's knee with all her might. The giant staggered for a moment and rather than crush Ren, he turned around to face Freja instead. ''L-Listen I don't know what your name is Knight guy- but his shields only come out of his front! I think? I-I know it hurts but I really need your help right now!''REN
