[attr="class","hiraeth"]私は世界を変えたい | [attr="class","achee"] [attr="class","castleonthehill"] ❝ From the corners of the once orange skies crept darkness, a shadow poisoning the once brilliant sky with its melancholic blues and blacks; an evening turning to night, as the duties of most were rested again for the morning to follow. For the two key players of tonight, however, dusk was merely the beginning of the game they'd yet to begin. Or, rather, that one yet knew to be brewing. Nebula System Dynamics, or NSD for short: the scene for which the game would take place. As the night grew further and further dominated the sky, those within the building's concrete walls flowed out from the gates, taking to whatever way they preferred — the streets, their own vehicles, or public transport if neither sufficed. Those left behind, however, were those whose duties lied within the late hours of twilight; security. For a facility of technological renown, it was only logical that their security detail prowled the premises, especially when the veil of darkness shrowded those who'd dare intrude. The hours ticked by, as neither intrigue nor concern made itself known. Check-ins between teams occurred along the shift of hours, with their dull dialogues noted between one another before the silence once again fell upon the scene. But now, as the clock stretched further and further towards midnight, and as teams chimed their status, one alone remained radio-silent. "Thirty minutes."Tick, tick, tick. The perpetrator — the one whose presence wrought silence — dragged along the unconscious men who failed to stop her; she was a hooded figure with a visage concealed by an ashen cloak, with only the soft glow of green emanating from their cloak and their neon gaze signifying their identity — Grinta, a vigilante who's presence had grown in recent years. The two left in her wake, now slumped against a near wall and stripped of an access card, hadn't a clue as to her presence until they were blinded by strikes between their eyes; now, though they lay groggily regaining consciousness, the two were gagged and bound whilst their radios laid smashed to their sides. "Get in, get out."The vigilante had eyes aimed at NSD for some time now; more specifically, a piece of technology rumored to be in the works had caught Grinta's notice — a device whose theoretical capabilities would prove useful, both as a framework to expand her knowledge and as a practical tool for her own ends. She initially dismissed the device. Evidence of its production had been sparse, as was to be expected, and even if it was in development, thieving the data would likely have proven more trouble than its worth. Besides, even if it did exist, it wasn't as though its concept was too far from the vigilante's purview. But then, a new piece of leaked data bubbled up to the surface: a self-generating energy source, one whose existence provided the device with the magnetic field necessary to support and navigate itself — though the surrounding components were of minor interest, the true score could be found in that singular piece. If that piece was as rumor told, thought the vigilante, then the reward to be reaped was more than worthy of the potential peril. And so she trekked into the establishment, entering through a sidepath just beside where she'd left the two guards (who still twisted in their restraints). Now, the game could truly begin. ✉ tag -- Yuma Orion✎ 564 words ※ Let the game begin! |

[attr="class","hiraeth"]私は世界を変えたい | [attr="class","achee"] [attr="class","castleonthehill"] ❝ No. She wouldn't do it. Nope, never; not if pigs flew, not if the planet stopped spinning, and not even if Hell itself froze over — no, Jackie Andrés Maradona would never become so deprived as to– "It's just'a fuckin' tea shop. Get over yerself and try some goddamn tea.""But tea is terrible...""Ya asked me what I wanted ta do, and this's what I chose! Now get in there already!"So came the civilian identity and her presence before a teashop, with a war forged in the mind still ongoing. Jackie'd despised tea, willingly shunning it wherever and whenever the chance arose; she was known for, especially as a child, throwing whole cups of tea out the kitchen window (even the whoopings for it were worth it, in her mind). And it wasn't even some sort of cultural value, either! If anything, tea should be beloved like a friend — like maté — but it wasn't! And the one most irritated about her distaste was Jackie herself. "Look, been a couple years; SURELY yer tastes have changed and ya can like it now."How'd she managed this predicament? Well, in the past years, her steady progress as a reputable support provider had garnered her more and more the means necessary to support herself; her latest job, however, was by far the greatest single paycheck she'd yet known. Perhaps out of euphoria — or, as she'd put it now, grave distraction — she'd agreed to her quirk, Pundit, to do one thing it asked of her. Within reason, of course. And its request was to try tea. "Maté's just'a tea, right? No reason ta fear tea'f yer favorite drink's a tea.""Maté is not a tea, it is an infusion.""Same fuckin' thing! Similar 'nough, anyway."She could have said no. It would have been easy. Painless, even. But to deny such a mundane request when she herself wanted the plea to be realized, she couldn't stomach the hesitance. Her pride couldn't allow it — she would do this. The small ring of a bell echoed through the tea shop as Jackie stepped in, stepping across the tile floor and to a seat near the counter. She'd dressed in jeans ripped at the knees with a sports top, opening the collar of her coat as she rested upon a stool; resting her arms against the counter, she tried to (not so discreetly) get the barkeep's attention. "Ye', hello, I... God, this is embarrassing–" she ran a hand through her hair, having left her blonde locs unadorned by her usual hat– "but I'm 'ere on a dare of sorts, from an uh, from a friend; I don't like tea, I really don't, but I'm trying to e'pand my taste, so... I'm 'ere. Is there anything shou might be able to recommend?"She'd kept her voice low, hoping her words would only ring in the barman's ear. [attr="class","hiraeth"]私は世界を変えたい | [attr="class","achee"] [attr="class","castleonthehill"] ❝ The full moon above, a fair eye casting its sight down, loomed over the darkened woods that lay before it. Its radiance imposed over the quietly rustling trees, with only the sounds of brushing leaves and chirping crickets responding to its presence; the forest, in its obscured serenity, dwelt not in the modernity of the world or its fickle machinations and, instead, in the solemnity of the night. A blur shot above the blackened canopy, flying past muted leaves left to roar in its wake; something new, something unnatural, soared through the green, intruded upon the formerly dozing wilderness, which now groggily awoke to activity. Some creatures hid away from the thundering sound, whether in their burrows or within their trees, whilst others ran from the presence in its entirety. The bullet came to a halt in the air, imposing upon the shuttering greenery a visage of unnatural capacity: a glowing stare of green eyes, sickly by comparison to the trees, that did not see, but were instead of a mask concealing what once belonged to and served nature — Man. The presence descended down into the woods, resting a foot down against the grass, and observed the clearing arrived upon. An innocuous expanse of woods — though only a few meters in perimeter — held within it the vision man sought for it; purpose, one specially called for by the perpetrator. Said perpetrator, with their cloak falling down and concealing their figure, rested against the land, drifting a hand through the topsoil. From the very back of the cloak came the voice of a creature, one not of the intruder, but of something entirely distinct that yet belonged to the interloper. "You sure 'bout comin' out 'ere?" It spoke, though crudely, to reckless abandon. "I'm already 'ere. If shou were worried, why didn't shou 'peak?" The figure responded back, still drifting a hand through the blades. "Cuz I-""Because shou never 'top worry'ng?"The figure rose, cleaning off their hand as they looked out above to the unpolluted sight of the stars. "Look, I'd rather 'et a lab — a proper lab — awash from people. Renting place' gets e'pensive, and I don't want my work at home either."The vigilante known as Grinta. She was an unusual presence in most spaces, lent primarily to the veneer she hid herself behind, but no space more than the wilds yet plagued with technological innovation, with its bare scape pulling away from the low buzz of machines emanating from her. "Sure, but this far? Seems redundant, don't it?""Your ability to 'peak is re'un'ant.""Now yer just bein' childish.""'Now yer just bein' childish'," she mocked, purposefully mimicking the intonation of her companion. "Just let me finish."Neither she nor her companion paid much mind to their volume, continuing to bicker whilst measuring the terrain. In this, their guard dropped, and the wilderness peered in. ✉ tag -- king ✎ 486 words ※ What does the wilderness think? |

[attr="class","hiraeth"]私は世界を変えたい | [attr="class","achee"] [attr="class","castleonthehill"] ❝ Though ambition led her life, the vigilante could not live by drive and drive alone; no, regardless of the will or the strength thereof, humans need enrichment beyond that found by endlessly pursuing the same goal. The great high and falls of such aspiration, whilst worthwhile in the greater picture, fulfilled not the plight of a person. To satiate life beyond that brought the vigilante — no, the civilian — Jackie to a place she'd never expected of herself. Well, perhaps not "never." An unfortunate fault of her residency came in the restaurant-shaped hole in her heart, as she was left without the locals she'd grown fond of. Attached? Maybe attached. She wouldn't prefer to use the term, though. Point being, the evident lack of familiarity that surrounded her brought out an ever-still-present phase of exploration and experimentation. Even despite her thus lived term of five years. No, she doubted she could ever truly feel at home in Japan, regardless of its marvels. Even still, she sought acquaintance in the foreign land. Smoothies, in this case — not wholly new to her, so a start. One might call it desperation — she'd prefer the term "open to new options" — but, for all she knew, she may stumble upon a business worth wasting money on... By buying its likely over-priced products. The further she stayed in Japan, the further she grimaced at its pricing. The place she'd taken to was a street-side establishment nudged along the wall of a fairly populated alleyway — another oddity of the Japanese, though one Jackie preferred to note as "brilliant." The midday sun bore down on the middle of the alley while the protruding roofs shaded shoppers and some pedestrians; Jackie placed herself in the former, a patient customer awaiting their opportunity to order. She'd made space to her right for whoever was to line up next, though her courtesy now found itself distracted from. "Ya could go to a burger place."The little, immutable voice in Jackie's head always found itself making small talk — could it be called "talking" if it took place in her mind? — when she'd just grown comfortable with silence. "I don't want a burger. For now."Though useful in its sentience, more often than not, her quirk made its presence an unbearable annoyance, one that chimed in at just the most aggravating times possible. It was like its talent. "Well ya want SOMETHIN' new, so how's 'bout new kinda burger? Shibuya's sure to have somethin'."She directed her gaze upward, trying to distract herself with the protrusion shading her. What an attention-grabbing, distracting piece, yes. "Burgers aren't new.""And smoothies are?"A quiet scoff came from her before she verbalized in a whisper, "Newer than burgers."...Perhaps an odd thing to say, waiting in line with others anticipating smoothies. ✉ tag -- chihiro ✎ 465 words ※ An odd thing to say. |

[attr="class","hiraeth"]私は世界を変えたい | [attr="class","achee"] [attr="class","castleonthehill"] ❝ Japan, in terms of the grand stage of the world, was a forerunner in a great many things; cultural influences like fashion, advancements in the realm of technology, and general attention garnered through groundbreaking entertainment. One thing it was not known to excel in, however, was football, a passion left hollow within the native Argentine's soul. Japan's cultural identity wasn't her own, neither by birthrate nor by commonality; no, from an outside observer whose life was dominated by the autonomous Buenos Aires, the love for football she'd once been accustomed to now dwindled here into something minimal by comparison. Not without hope, sure, but without the same passion as it had back home. She missed the packed stadiums, the numerous chants — even the curb boys that stole your car if you didn't pay them for parking! But here, it was but one of many sports played, and not one that sparked as much of a cultural identity. It was because of this that Jackie found herself where she was; a football field, with a bunch of kids, trying to teach them football. It was mostly a side-hustle thing — getting paid by some of the kids' parents while between projects — but Jackie couldn't deny the desire to bring even a taste of the same passion. Even if it was in a bunch of elementary schoolers. So now she sat along past the touchline, viewing her pupils from a spot near the bench. Today, she dressed herself in shorts, leggings, and a simple graphic tee. She'd pulled her hair back, leaving her blonde locs in a messy ponytail expanding out just short of her shoulder width, whilst still standing. "That' right! Kirai, drive the ball through! Kishua, commit to the block, don't get scared of 'topping a shot!" Such were the things shouted out from the side, with the part-time coach hiding the top of her head from the midday sun — only occasionally mispronouncing the kids' names, if perhaps some intentionally. Sitting herself down along the bench, Jackie wiped a beat of sweat from her brow, looking towards the pastime she'd missed so dearly. Though the football she watched differed from her ideal, it still brought her back to times long since passed; ones full of nostalgia, at least. Times when questions didn't need to come, where answers weren't always given, but she still chased after the ball regardless of meaning. Though not hers, this moment was theirs. If only such unfettered joy could be sustained. ✉ tag -- skald ✎ 413 words ※ God I miss football... |

[attr="class","hiraeth"]私は世界を変えたい | [attr="class","achee"] [attr="class","castleonthehill"] ❝ A night to which peace resounded; or, at the very least, so was the thought of Grinta. A vigilante of rumor, as it stood; not as though she was of such elusiveness — though her knows deeds only accounted partially for her true feats — but rather a result of the unknown motive behind the masked heroine's acts. She stood for neither heroes in their self-aggrandizement nor villains in their self-righteousness, and her tension for both marked her a wild card in the grander scheme. She'd made no effort to clean the muddied waters, either; for all she cared, neither faction was her ally, and if others couldn't sort her into either group, it wasn't her concern. Though of the waters she did hope to clear, she found herself within a sect of Shinjuku. The vigilante didn't prefer to mark territory for herself — let alone focus on a specific domain — but an unknown phenomenon had dipped its head out of the waves — within the bounds of internet chatter, at least. What started as a few rumors now stood as a foundation of odd activity: repeated and, thus, continuous occurrences, led to a hole within Shinjuku where, despite the ward's infamy for it, criminal activity couldn't plague. As it laid out beneath her, the Shinjuku known to most found itself unable to claim this area — and she had to know why. Under the pale light of the moon, the warm hues of red and yellow filtered the street below: stores — local businesses, it seemed — remained unplagued by Shinjuku's curse and, instead, stood untainted. Most life had retired to the comfort of their homes for the evening, with only few milling about the otherwise unpopulated street; as one of the few awake, Grinta looked down upon the alley in curiosity, with her gaze searching for evidence of something, anything that could provide reason. Such repetition couldn't be left up to coincidence. Within her mind, the only answer behind this result was interference from an undetermined third party. And Grinta would lure it out, whatever it may be. She hopped along the near rooftops of the district's buildings, taking time to look down upon the scenes. Though, in the midst of her silence, a voice tugged at the back of her thoughts. "You sure there'sa 'nough evidence to search like this?"Pundit. The quirk bestowed upon the vigilante was its own bother, as it was unfortunately gifted intelligence to call its own — though if you asked the bearer, she wouldn't call it much. "For me.""And for me?"Though she could not turn to the voice, she still twisted her neck to the side. "Not enough for shou, clearly.""All I'm sayin' is, ya gotta be careful runnin' round like this. Sure ya can take medium thugs, but yer a tinkerer, not a fighter; if there's somethin' keepin' thugs away, I for one don't wanna step on its home.""Doesn't help with shou distracting me. [attr="class","hiraeth"]私は世界を変えたい | [attr="class","achee"] [attr="class","castleonthehill"] ❝ In high school, the language I most fell in love with happened to be a dead one: Latin. Sure, it’s spoken at the Vatican, and when I first began to study the tongue of Virgil and Catullus, friends joked that I could only use it if I moved to Rome. Tempting, but church Latin barely resembles the classical written language, a highly formal grammar full of symmetries and puzzles. You don’t speak classical Latin; you solve it, labor over it, and gloat, to no one in particular, when you’ve rendered it somewhat intelligible. Given that the study of an ancient language is rarely a conversational art, it can sometimes feel a little alienating. And so you might imagine how pleased I was to discover what looked like classical Latin in the real world: the text known to designers around the globe as “Lorem Ipsum,” also called “filler text” and (erroneously) “Greek copy.” The idea, Priceonomics informs us, is to force people to look at the layout and font, not read the words. Also, “nobody would mistake it for their native language,” therefore Lorem Ipsum is “less likely than other filler text to be mistaken for final copy and published by accident.” If you’ve done any web design, you’ve probably seen it, looking something like this: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat. Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate velit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur. Excepteur sint occaecat cupidatat non proident, sunt in culpa qui officia deserunt mollit anim id est laborum. When I first encountered this text, I did what any Latin geek will—set about trying to translate it. But it wasn’t long before I realized that Lorem Ipsum is mostly gibberish, a garbling of Latin that makes no real sense. The first word, “Lorem,” isn’t even a word; instead it’s a piece of the word “dolorem,” meaning pain, suffering, or sorrow. So where did this mash-up of Latin-like syntax come from, and how did it get so scrambled? First, the source of Lorem Ipsum—tracked down by Hampden-Sydney Director of Publications Richard McClintock—is Roman lawyer, statesmen, and philosopher Cicero, from an essay called “On the Extremes of Good and Evil,” or De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum. ✉ tag -- ( @someone ) ✎ 000 words ※ notes here, please keep it short. |

[attr="class","explorerbody"] [attr="class","explorerheader"]▸ APPEARANCE ◂ [break] [attr="class","explorerbox"] The Ideal of the Populace, Jackie Maradona, stands out as an irregularity amongst the wider populace of Japan, even including the many whose origins trace back to European and/or North American descent; gifted a beautifully tanned complexion with majestic locks of gold rippling from the top of her head — with iris hues to compliment — the Argentine couldn't be inconspicuous in a crowd lest the divine reached down from the heavens to intervene. Indeed, the air held about the woman is that of reserved authority, energy held at bay through will yet displayed in a nearly unshakable visage of apathy and disinterest. From the outside, the vigilante demonstrates no leanings, no perceived biases, as she judges the world in how it surrounds.
[break][break]
Her figure, muscular and imposing — even despite her relatively short stature when compared to the likes of heroes and UA students — comes perhaps as her most recognizable feature, given her need to readily demonstrate the painstaking effort placed into its form. As someone whose first love was stolen by football, evidence demonstrates a persistent, habitual need to show off her leg strength, adorning herself to best show the strength and technique she's accrued.
[break][break]
Dressed most often in shorts — though not uncommonly seen wearing form-fitting leggings — her apparel can most often be described as "athletic," though she demonstrates more versatility in the tops she wears; such options may include graphic tees, sports bras — generally, anything breathable is something she readily adds to her catalog. Though, regardless of her attire, she can commonly be seen sporting a white cloak that reaches near the floor from her shoulders, with her figure often being concealed by it until she chooses to dramatically show off.
[break][break]
When dressed for her role as a vigilante, however, the dynamic changes; indeed, her cloak replaces its unblemished white for a pitch-black abyss, with its black accents becoming an intense hue of green and glowing crosses of the same vibrance. Her attire additionally takes her existing tastes — particularly for shorts and breathable tops — for a set of white shorts, a black half-zipper crop top with green accents, and a white doubled-breasted waistcoat. To conceal her identity, she additionally raises the hood of her cloak and further dons a full face mask, one with glowing neon Xs where her eyes would be, and a jack-o'-lantern-styled smile. Finally, as of recent times, she also wears a black, skintight suit beneath the rest of her clothing so as to better hide her identity.
[break][break]
[break][break] [attr="class","explorerheader"]▸ PERSONALITY ◂ [break] [attr="class","explorerbox"] Despite the manner with which she holds herself, Jackie is far from the passive presence she demonstrates; in fact, Jackie is perhaps one of the most actively critical participants of the current world order. Hidden behind the veneer of aloofness and general disregard for the manner of things lies a heart, a soul, of grotesque fury and shameless passion. One half screams for Jackie to demonstrate, both to herself and to the world, the terrors that lie within their society; it wishes for her to sing the ballad of woes, of unending complacency, that all within the law are bound to. The other, then, wishes for her to dance the tango of passion; to demonstrate herself as she feels it within.
[break][break]
And so, the appearance of indifference acts as a shield for greater machinations. Yet, even in the presence of polite company, either end can still manage to seep out from the cracks. The former, perhaps more subtly, questions the nature of heroes' society, stating and repeating the cynical woes of the "capitalistic system" that now commodifies the act of being a good person. The other remains guileless by comparison, vocalizing itself in the desire for something, anything, to change; however, it predominantly surfaces within the confines of the vigilante's identity, Grinta.
[break][break]
Grinta, by comparison, unleashes the fervor hidden behind the mask of civility and, instead, boldly brandishes the blade of betterment for the sake of all. Whilst wearing the identity of a vigilante, Jackie has no reason to hold back the sense left boiling within her mind and soul; for, put simply, why would an already prohibited identity have any reason to constrain itself beyond its tether to the polite face of a seen person?
[break][break]
In that sense, Jackie Maradona is both ends of her soul in their entirety, yet picks and chooses the balance as it's found within the grander game of people.
[break][break]
[break][break] [attr="class","explorerheader"]▸ HISTORY ◂ [break] [attr="class","explorerbox"] Buenos Aires, Argentina. A colorful, sprawling metropolis lent inspiration by the nations of Europe for its structure, both culturally and architecturally speaking. Such was the environment that bared and nurtured — from the years of 2075 to 2095 — Jackie Maradona, a young girl of little note or consequence. Such concepts of grandeur and meaning mattered little to the young Maradona, especially not whilst living in one of the greatest countries in the world. The surrounding world was vibrant with life, with people of different backgrounds surrounding her and her family.
[break][break]
Her mother, a woman of Afro-Argentinian descent — with ancestry traced back to Somalia and Italy — married to her a fair-skinned man of simple Argentine origin — though with roots of Spaniards found along his lineage — and, in their position of economic stability, fostered their child as their sole heir. Her mother, Carmen Maradona, the disciplinarian, and her father, Devante Maradona, the "fun parent"; through both being full-time workers, they maintained an adequate standard of life for themselves and their single child, fostering her interest — and forcing some, as parents expose their child to the world — so that she may, too, find a means of providing for herself and a family, if the latter was so desired, and a simple zest for the life she was given.
[break][break]
Yet, despite the love always found in her life, there grew an ever-looming ideal emerging from deep within Jackie's soul; as she looked about the ever-more known world — more specifically, the superpowered aspect of it — she couldn't help but question "why." Or, more aptly, why her and others' gifts were to be kept hidden away while heroes and villains wielded theirs freely. Were these abilities — these "quirks," as they were called — not just another part of their body, like a foot or a fist? Are they no more a part of themselves as the rest of their biology is?
[break][break]
This initial idea was quietly subdued for the time being, especially concerning the greater safety of the collective. After all, while some quirks may accomplish the mundane, others may touch upon the very fabric of reality and alter it to the whims of the wielder. Factoring this disparity into a burgeoning worldview, at least for a time, the notion disappeared.
[break][break]
But the years passed along, and as she grew older, so too did her ideals. The once simple solution of acquiescence grew tattered and weary, and again the question arose: Why must she inhibit her native abilities whilst those "protecting the peace" did not? Furthermore, why would one be "criminal" to use their abilities, even without ill intent or destructive consequences?— Was not consolidating power amongst those who serve the interest of the powerful result in an all-controlling 1%?— In a world where those granted immense power will inevitably become either end of the extreme regardless, what was the point of restricting those with neither capacity nor background?— In fact, would the current system of heroic society not inherently be the culprit behind these divisive binaries?
[break][break]
Were these the solutions settled for?
[break][break]
So she took to see the nature of heroism in a region infamous for it: Japan. Perhaps — she thought — if she wished to employ her own ideal, then such a hub of heroism would surely be the place to begin. Furthermore, as a place packed to bursting with both heroism and villainy, so too could she analyze them and how they came to be.
[break][break]
Now having resided the Argentine for some time, Grinta acts as a vigilante predominantly within the boundaries of Tokyo. More so than that, however, she acts as a conduit from which vigilantes may acquire support equipment. While heroes are in no short supply of support manufacturers, and whilst villains maintain a network with which they may acquire their illicit goods, there is still plenty of room to fill in the vigilantes' market.

[break][break] [attr="class","explorerheader"]▸ QUIRK ◂ [break] [attr="class","explorerbox"] QUIRK NAME: Pundit[break] QUIRK RANK: A-[break] QUIRK TYPE: Emitter[break] QUIRK DESCRIPTION: Pundit, the quirk, functions as its own separate entity inhabiting the mind of its bearer, whispering into her mind's eye. It knows the thoughts, vices, and desires of its user, even when with attempts to resist it. Although she maintains control over the being in its manifestation and corporeal form, and she is not subservient to its advice, she has little ability to actually ignore it. Pundit, the being, does not however inherently desire ill will for its user and instead operates as the "voice of truth," as it calls itself.
[break][break]
▸HIJACK: When manifested into a physical form, Pundit takes on the shape of a small, black or white, spherical creature (a diameter of about 1 meter) with a mouth and eyes, though it can make itself smaller (down to 0.1 meters) for the purposes of the following feature: While in its physical form, Pundit can embed itself into machines, spreading a network of its nerves throughout its host and taking hold of their physical form, manipulating their mechanisms to operate as it sees fit. This does inherently alter the properties of the technology it operates, nor does it allow Pundit to destroy them from the inside out. Additionally, if the machine being infested possesses a sort of software, Pundit may willingly allow it to coexist or entirely override it and utilize its parameters to their desired effect.
[break][break]
That being said, Pundit's manifestation does not result in it leaving Jackie's mind; in fact, it's more accurate to call its manifestation an appendage of its will. As a result, its physical form can be summoned numerous times (with up to 6 being able to exist at a time) and be destroyed numerous times without "killing" the being-like quirk.
[break][break]
▸ANTIGRAVITY: Pundit's physical form is comprised of an odd material that differs from the known, allowing it the ability to move omnidirectionally through the air. Additionally, when extending its systems into Hijacked machines, it transfers the same property over to them, allowing Pundit to grant such devices a flight speed and dexterity equivalent to its own (which is equivalent to the quirk rank).
[break][break]
QUIRK DRAWBACKS/LIMITATIONS:[break][break]
▸LITTLE GUYS: Pundit's ability to inflict and withstand damage is next to non-existent. As a result, their power and their constitution are treated as C-, with everything else being standard for a quirk of its level. This penalty does not apply to the machines they Hijack.
[break][break]
▸FISH ARE FRIENDS, NOT FOOD: I feel it generally unnecessary to point this out but will do so in case the question arises: No, humans (and creatures with their own bodily systems) are not considered "machines" for the purposes of Hijack, thus meaning Pundit can't forcefully pilot PCs or NPCs, even if consent was granted IC or OOC. Most living beings are entirely off the table as targets.
[break][break]
▸ORBIT: Pundit, in all of its manifestations, needs to be within 20 meters of its users. Going beyond this will result in them collapsing to the ground, including any machines being Hijacked at the time. Moving back into range, primarily through the user stepping into range of the Pundit, will restore functionality and awaken them for usage.
[break][break]
▸FORCED REMOVAL: Destroying a Pundit in an existing machine will also destroy the nervous system embedded into it, effectively releasing it from the control of the user and other benefits of the quirk.
[break][break]
[break][break] [attr="class","explorerheader"]▸ EQUIPMENT ◂ [break] [attr="class","explorerbox"] EQUIPMENT NAME: Criollo [ND][break] EQUIPMENT RANK: A-[break] EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER: Jackie Maradona[break] EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: Criollo, dubbed so after the football style popularized in Argentina, is by far the most meaningful creation — and yet ongoing production — Jackie has thus crafted, and was born through the vigilante's newfound inspiration since moving to Japan. Criollo functions as an AI software meant to adapt to Jackie's specific habits, protect her interests, and otherwise align itself with the choices of its creator whilst simultaneously demonstrating its ever-growing intelligence.
[break][break]
Given Criollo's physical form — or, more accurately, lack thereof — mechanically speaking, it functions as a means of augmenting its architect's other projects and equipment, particularly those with the inherent capacity to be piloted via its presence within their structures, and protecting the systems in which it resides from hackers; as it stands, all of the vigilante's personal equipment (not those manufactured for others) are equipped with Criollo's programming, granting it the ability to conduct them independently of its programmer.
[break][break]
Criollo is considered to have an Awareness attribute equivalent to its Rank, but anything being puppeteered by the program follows their own respective attributes. Furthermore, attempts to hack or directly access systems monitored or inhabited by Criollo by unauthorized individuals will be combatted by the program with a value equivalent to its equipment rank.
[break][break]
It should be noted, however, that technology-disabling devices (such as EMPs) will otherwise incapacitate Criollo, as it does not independently resist such phenomena. More practically, however, machines inhabited and handled by the program will almost always lose functionality under such circumstances. By contrast, tech-based quirks that can override Criollo by outranking it, or hackers with the requisite skills to breach the program by also ranking higher than it, can gain access to the machines targeted.
[break][break]
EQUIPMENT NAME: Dagger Cloak [ND][break] EQUIPMENT RANK: A-[break] EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER: Jackie Maradona[break] EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: The cloak frequently worn about Jackie, with the hood being rose during proper vigilante escapades, is not simply as it seems, beyond the spikes at the end of its length; rather, Dagger Cloak is a cloak infested with nanomachines, all with the specific intent of protecting the wearer from threats to their safety. These microscopic machines have the ability to move all aspects of their vessel, the cloak, from within, functionally turning their cage into an appendage they can bend and twist for the sake of their purpose. Additionally, at the bottom of the cloak, several ports are modeled into the fabric to outstretch several sharp daggers along the end.
[break][break]
Dagger Cloak does not inherently possess the necessary programming to be functional and, instead, relies upon Criollo as its means of operating. Disabling the Criollo program within it, as outlined in Criollo's description, will result in the loss of functionality of the nanomachines, effectively turning Dagger Cloak into a heavy suit of armor. This can be further worsened if opposition outright corrupts or overrides the installed software, as it then may be manipulated to directly harm the wearer.
[break][break]
Furthermore, due to the multitude of materials at play within this piece of equipment, the wearer's Speed and Dexterity Attribute, with regard to their physical ability to walk, run, and jump, are considered to be reduced by 1 rank while donning it. Disabling Dagger Cloak increases this penalty to 3 ranks (a full letter rank). This penalty only applies to her ability to move her position, not her ability to effectively attack with her extremities or the movement potentially granted by quirk.
[break][break]
(FLAVOR) While worn in her everyday life, the cloak appears with predominantly white coloring and black accenting, with the blades along the end retracted into the fabric. Whilst out and dressed properly as a vigilante, however, it takes on a black base whilst its accents transform into a harsh green; furthermore, the cross-like markings along its collar and at the end of its blades glow a neon-green hue. Furthermore, the sealed daggers become readily apparent and usable.
[break][break]
EQUIPMENT NAME: Gol-Pay, Prototype[break] EQUIPMENT RANK: C-[break] EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER: Jackie Maradona[break] EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: Gol-Pay is the bracer worn about Jackie's left leg. As it currently stands, this creation is still within its prototype phase — primarily as the vigilante's experimentation with nanomachine-formed materials, as the bracer's wraps are composed of nanomachines — and only thus functions as a modicum of what it may eventually become. For the moment, its primary function is saving the force impacted upon its fibers and discharging it back outwards when hitting a physical surface, acting as a second impact (with strength equivalent to equipment rank).
[break][break]
When not in use (thus not applying their bonuses), Gol-Pay takes the form of an ankle bracelet. Additionally, like Dagger Cloak, this piece of equipment relies upon Criollo to function, thus retaining the same vulnerabilities.
[break][break]
EQUIPMENT NAME: In-Yer-Face (IYF), Prototype[break] EQUIPMENT RANK: D+[break] EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER: Jackie Maradona[break] EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: In-Yer-Face, similarly to Gol-Pay, is an experimentation with nanomachine-formed materials; though in this regard, IYF is focused on the ability to project a small, miniature keyboard along the wearer's forearm and a holographic screen to access the internet. IYF, given its rank, mechanically offers no benefit outside of the flavor of being used like a laptop. While not in use, it takes on the appearance of a wristwatch.
[break][break]
Even still, as it operates off of the Criollo software, the same weaknesses apply. In this case, however, accessing it also grants perpetrators any cloud-shared files being run.
[break][break] [attr="class","explorerheader"]▸ SKILLS ◂ [break] [attr="class","explorerbox"] SKILL NAME: El Mecánico (Support, Mechanical and Software Engineering)[break] SKILL RANK: A+[break] SKILL DESCRIPTION: Jackie comfortably stands atop the world as one of its best and brightest in the realm of manufacturing and repairing support equipment, as well as augmenting her creations with advanced software.
