Zaya was initially fairly interested in the proposal; Being able to sap strength without direct contact would be uniquely useful. “Might not work, I’ll tell ya that now. Zaya needs herself direct contact.” ShocK-King stated, sounding a bit stern, almost as if he were opposed to the idea. Her father’s comment served to damper Zaya’s enthusiasm about the proposed technique. “Well…We don’t know unless we try, right?” She countered optimistically. Raiou just shrugged apathetically in response, and stepped back to let her try.
Stepping up, Zaya breathed deep, and grasped the winch. “Ok…If I just try hard enough, maybe this will work…” Trying to think optimistically, Zaya tried to start her draining powers…But nothing happened. Her father took notice of this, and just shook his head, crossing his arms and continuing to watch. Squeezing the winch harder, Zaya would continue trying to drain Jun’s energy, still not finding any success. Pausing, she realized that this method wasn’t going to get her anywhere. No direct contact with a body meant no sapping. But a thought entered her head; This conduit wouldn’t work because it was just lifeless metal; But what about her lightning? She already knew that firing off lightning only drained her opponents without restoring her, but what if she used the lightning as an extension of herself?
“Jun, I’m going to try something, you may feel a shock…” Gripping the winch, Zaya would let a bit of lightning jump from her fingertips, letting it try to make its way to Jun’s body. It was like watching an unruly dog tug and pull at its leash, desperate to break free. It was hard to maintain the purple streak without letting it leave her body; Even the slightest disconnect would result in failure; Exactly how her first attempt went. The tiny bit of lightning jumped off, and dissipated in the air. Not letting the first try get to her, she’d fire up her lightning again, concentrating hard on extending it without letting go. For a few seconds, it could only maintain its length of a foot or so, before finally managing to steadily grow.
This wouldn’t go unnoticed by ShocK-King, whose eyes were now wide open in surprise, watching the small lightning bolt travel intently. It went further, further, and further still; Until finally reaching Jun’s body, still intact. For a moment, Zaya was worried the lightning would only have its usual affect; The moment passed as rejuvenation swept over Zaya. The sudden shock of success broke the girl’s concentration, and the bolt faded away. “I…I did it…That actually worked…” She started laughing, equal parts happy and surprised at her success. “Did you see that? Its hard as hell, but I can actually get my energy back if I’m careful with my lightning!”
ShocK-King, amazed at the entire affair, started to clap enthusiastically. “Not bad!” He’d state. “If you can hone that, you could be set pretty well!”

ShocK-King would keep up with the girls quite easily, hardly even sweating from the exercise. He stayed true to his word on saving his breath during the training, only barking a word of encouragement or two after each exercise. By the end of it, Zaya was drenched in sweat, panting and out of breath. Raiou looked bored, unimpressed; His breathing wasn’t even labored after everything, and the only sweat on his clothes seemed to be more from the heat. It was only when Jun talked of packing things in for the day that the pro hero piped up. “We don’t have to call it here.” He objected firmly. “We can keep goin.” He continued, speaking for Zaya now. “Zaya honey, if you need to you can sap a bit of my energy. Member how you used to do it on accident when you were little?” Zaya just waved her arm in protest as she continued to catch her breath. “Dad…I’m fine…And you don’t…huff..Need to reveal that…” ShocK-King just shrugged. “Offers still there. You know I can handle it better than anyone.” Zaya just shook her head, adamant in refusing his offer, opting to regain her strength the natural way, through resting her body. Standing up straight, she continued catching her breath, and debated if she should just throw in the towel for today… No. She couldn’t be seen as a quitter in front of her dad; It’d be all the more reason to be coddled and brushed in whatever direction he saw fit. “I can keep going. Jun, what’d you have in-“ Before she could inquire as to what Jun wanted to test out, Raiou interrupted. “Zaya, I think its time I passed on one of my special moves to ya.” Walking over to his lightning rods, he’d kick one up and into his hands, twirling it like a baton. “See, you’ve gotten good at firin’ lightning, but you gotta focus on defense too.” An aura of lightning channeled around the shock hero, starting out raging before quickly condensing down to just a thin veil, with most of the lightning channeling straight to the metal rod. “Electro armor is nearly impenetrable. I know ya seen me use it before, but I’ve never gotten into the nitty gritty of how its done.”
Zaya rolled her eyes, and just decided to let her dad run his mouth for now. “Imagine firin’ lightning, but right in front of ya, and firing from all over your body; That’s the gist of it. Blocks projectiles, bullets,”
“I get it dad.” Zaya stated, stopping him in his tracks. Raiou powered his electric aura down right away, just sighing. “If its ok with you, I wanted to see what Jun had to show me.”
Her father shrugged his shoulders, looking a bit annoyed at getting blown off. “Right, fair enough. I’ll let miss Jun take the floor.”
Zaya let out a sigh of relief and smiled. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to learn her father’s techniques, but like she stated before, it felt wrong to just have them handed out; Like it was cheating or something.

It had worked; Her crude plan to turn herself into a human cannonball had actually taken out the Café Racer; It knocked her down too, but at least they’d caught the criminal, right?
One thing Zaya hadn’t expected was all the energy coursing through her now; She thought only direct physical contact could recharge her, but it seemed like her lightning aura did the trick too. She was now full of energy, nearly overflowing; It felt good, but it also felt wrong. After all, some of that strength had been harvested from Ikki.
And all because of that villain. It was because of him that her new friend was on the ground, barely able to move. Without even thinking, Zaya’s body moved on her own. Stepping over to Yuu, she’d kneel down, and place her palm flat on his chest. Using her quirk, she started draining as much energy as she could. After what he put them through, she was going to make sure he couldn’t move for hours.
Purple electricity flowed around Zaya as she sucked every ounce of energy Yuu had in him. “You still feel like causing problems?” She scolded, not satisfied with physical punishment alone. “Still feel like you can move around as fast as you did?” It was only when her built up strength felt like it hit a peak when she stopped, realized what she was doing, and snapped back to reality. What was she doing? The battle was already over…Breathing heavily, Zaya realized the magnitude of what she’d done. Sure, her power wasn’t going to leave any lasting damage aside from tiredness, but she was still kicking someone while they were down. “I…I’m sorry. I got too heated.” Rubbing her arm nervously, she’d stand back up, and go to Ikki to offer him a hand. “But…At least he’s down now, right?”

Raiou looked a bit disappointed as Jun returned his gesture with a bow instead of a handshake. “Right, sometimes forget ya’ll do things different than in the states.” He stated, giving her a polite nod instead. Listening to Jun’s plan, Zaya felt a bit relieved; She was taking the reins on this, which hopefully meant her father would just observe for the most part. “Course fitness is important missy! Specially with my girl’s quirk. The more fit ya are, the more ya can take from your quirk wearing you down.”
Zaya crossed her arms and turned away, a slight blush on her face. “Good you’re keepin up with it. I’ll join ya in the run.” The father was about to start stretching his legs, when he realized what was still on his back, in a holster. “Course, I should put these away.” Taking out two rods that resembled small lightning rods, he set them aside, along with the holster they were kept in.
Moving into position, ShocK-King would join them in their run when they started, making sure not to outpace her daughter; Zaya, on the other hand, would be giving the run her all, trying subtly to put distance between herself and her father.
“Ya know, once ya get more used to your power, I can show you how to use the lightning in more ways than offense.” Zaya just grumbled, trying to go a bit faster. “I can figure it out on my own.” She protested, annoyed. “I know, I know, I just want to help with those first steps. Ya can really get some speed when you use it right. I remember when I-“ Zaya just elbowed her father, trying to interrupt him. “I don’t care! Can we please just warm up in silence?” Raiou sighed, reluctantly falling behind a bit to give his daughter space. "Right, we wanna save our breath when fitness training."

This was the last thing she wanted. After everything, trying to carve out her own path, the last thing she wanted was to stray right back to her father’s shadow. Yet here he was, shadow and all. It was a ‘surprise’ visit, for him to help her with training. Though she appreciated help in strengthening her quirk, having her father do it just felt like coddling. When he showed up at the school sporting a guest pass, she protested, not wanting to have her hand held, but he insisted, and Zaya relented. At the very least her father was fine with going to the training grounds she had been planning to head to, but on his supervision. “Daddy, I’m not a kid anymore; It was nice to see you, but really, I’m fine training on my own today.”
Raiou just shook his head and laughed a bit. “Hey, c’mon now, is it so wrong for a dad to want to spend time helping his little girl? Seein we got such similar quirks, you could benefit from someone with years more experience.”
Though Zaya pouted, she couldn’t help but feel a bit guilty, like she was being ungrateful. Still, her thoughts of independence won out. “You didn’t have someone holding your hand when you trained your quirk, did you? I don’t want to just copy your homework!”
Raiou was about to interject when Jun came up to them; His smile grew wider as he reached out a hand to greet her. “Well hey there! Ya must be one of Zaya’s friends I’ve heard about. I’m her daddy, I’ll be helpin out with her today.” He stated, his tone jovial, but also firm; He was here to stay, whether they liked it or not. “I’m ShocK-King, though uh, you may not notice it with me being out of uniform and whatnot.” His words rang true only partially; While he was clad in workout gear, his light blue hair would be a dead giveaway to anyone who knew his alter ego. Zaya sighed, annoyed that her father was imposing like this. “Well…Now you’ve met my dad, I guess…” This was going to be some kind of training…

Watching as the duo’s biological engines revved up, Zaya quickly redirected her lightning, having it chase Yuu down; She landed a hit on his arm, but only thanks to Ikki’s intervention; And it had cost him an arm, as well. Not only that, but Yuu had taken the chance to land a devastating hit on her friend. Watching as bits of tile flew up from the impact, Zaya’s mind left her, returning back to her encounter with the Kollector, the destruction he’d been able to cause; This was starting to feel eerily similar, down to the location of the fight being in a mall.
But she couldn’t run. Not again, not this time. “Damn right!” The girl let out a yell of comradery, clenching her fists. Maybe if she told herself she wasn’t scared, that she could do this… Thinking hard over a plan, the first thought that came to her instinctively was that of her father; He was able to surround himself with an aura of lightning that would be hell for anyone to touch. She’d never tried it before, but was confident she could at least do a weak replication; Not to mention it would likely ward Yuu off from attacking her.
But what would that accomplish? All that would do is throw Ikki right into the villain’s sights, only protecting herself. He’d already taken a bad hit, it wouldn’t be right of her to make him take another. Taking a gambit, Zaya charged directly at Yuu, hoping he’d try and attack her. If he did, the young hero would try her best to time her lighting aura, only letting it surround her if the speedy villain took a swing… It'd hurt, but if she could trade a blow with him, she might be able to immobilize the guy.

Zaya nodded her head in agreement. “Yeah…Not just going to be my dad’s replacement.” At least, she hoped that’s not all she would amount to. It wasn’t exactly going to be easy to get out of his shadow once she sprang into the hero world in full force. When he raised his hand, Zaya didn’t resist, letting him give her an enthused clap on the back, blushing a bit as he did. It was nice to have someone believe in her like this.
“Wait, you LIKE fighting him? Not sure I understand, but as long we’re making sure he doesn’t cause any more mayhem…” She just shrugged it off; Maybe it was a guy thing, and they just enjoyed one upping each other in their rivalry. As they walked through the doors to the mall, the girl started to look around at the mostly abandoned stores, letting her mind wander a bit before the taunts of the ‘villain’ caught her attention. “Hey, what the hell is that supposed to mean?” Zaya asked, annoyed at the assumption he was making. The culprit already looked far scarier than the last villain she fought, and he didn’t (seem to) have telekinetic powers. Still, a villain at large is one that has formidable powers. Charging up a bolt of violet lightning in her right hand, she took aim at their target. Maybe she’d get lucky, and they could take him out quickly? No, she knew better than that by now. Stopping her charge about halfway, she prepared a weaker blast to fire at the villain, one to just test what he could do. “Ok Ikki, get ready to tag him!” Using her free hand to steady her aim, Zaya fired out a burst of lightning that raced towards the Café Racer, daring him to outrun its trail.

Zaya had never really given her physical safety much thought until after the fight with Kollector…That guy made it clear that she wasn’t safe just because her father was a powerful hero. “I’m already going to be kinda well known anyway thanks to my dad…” She stated, sighing. “He’s a popular hero. Whenever I have to make my big debut, our connection will be obvious.” Her father had her quirk; Without the downside of the poison, which was given courtesy of her mother. ShocK-King had the full blessing of the lightning, and could use it as he saw fit. Zaya essentially had his power with a handicap; Almost as if her body was taunting her, not being strong enough to handle such a fearsome quirk. “If I need to drain you, I’ll let you know. Hopefully it won’t come to that, right?” The girl tried to force a smile, contributing to her ongoing efforts to come off as more ‘friendly’. It was tempting to take Ikki up on his offer, but she knew her quirk better than anyone. Draining him now would mean he’d feel the affect slowly burn through him for a while; Not worth the risk. As Zaya departed the train with Ikki, she’d lean over to get a better look at his phone. Looking at the family, she felt bad for Ikki; All it takes is one bad mission to put some people out of commission permanently. “Hey, you’re still here at least.” She said, trying to offer condolences. “A lot of people would quit after something like that.” It turned out Yuu was his cousin; Seeing a family member turn villain was not something she ever wanted to experience. “So…I’m guessing the two of you aren’t on the best of terms anymore if we have to take him down, right?”

Zaya just shrugged at his suggestion to hide her identity. Maybe before she’d hide herself a bit more, not want to get associated with her father’s hero group…But the more she went out, the less people seemed to recognize her; Maybe she was starting to look more mature?
“I don’t have a hero costume picked out yet anyway. And we’re licensed to do this sort of thing, so its not like we’ll get in trouble with the law.” Following Ikki to the train station, Zaya was already starting to feel a bit fatigued; As always, her quirk was draining her, making her feel lethargic; But she was slowly learning to power through it. “So…” Pausing for a minute, Zaya struggled to think of a topic to chew Ikki’s ear about. Small talk wasn’t her strong suite, but talking helped keep her active and awake. “Um…What kind of quirk do you have?” She finally settled on. “Going to guess it has something to do with those thrusters on your body?” If Ikki was kind enough to share his quirk with her, or even if he didn’t, she’d return the favor. “Mine is a poison lightning emitter; Toxicity incarnate. If I hit someone with it, or get physical contact, I can infect them, slowly drain their strength. Downside is that it eats away at me, too.” After sharing her quirk, Zaya would go a bit quiet, feeling tired from her quirk’s side affect. In the process, she’d begin to stare at Ikki’s face, unconsciously. “So…You sound like you know this guy…” She asked, yawning a bit and resting her chin in her hands. “Old friend or something?”

Taking on another villain wasn’t a prospect Zaya was too thrilled about, but it was one that she felt she had to do. If she was going to be a hero, she couldn’t just run from every fight; And this Café Racer seemed like a far easier first step than the Kollector was. Didn’t seem that intimidating; Looked a little charming even. Not to mention she was going to have backup for this, so she wouldn’t even have to face him alone. Getting to the gate of the school, she quickly spotted Ikki, and waved to him. “Zaya; Nice to meet you. On the field I’m…Also Zaya.” She stated, feeling a bit awkward that she hadn’t officially chosen a hero name. The girl was wearing casual clothes; A sleeveless grey tanktop with a black sports bra underneath, black athletic shorts and sneakers. Her attire almost seemed a bit too casual for stopping a villain, but he wouldn’t be too much trouble, right? Looking over Ikki’s appearance, Zaya figured it’d be best to not ask, not make things awkward between her new partner. “Hey, I’m not going to pry if you don’t want me to.” Even if her curiosity did compel her to try and ask about his ruffled up appearance…
“Anyway…This Café Racer guy shouldn’t be too hard to track with him posting about everywhere he goes, right?” Zaya asked, already pulling out her phone to check social media for their foe. “Kinda sucks that we have to bring in one of our own though…”

“I’m sorry for interfering, its just…Both of you looked ready to kill…I panicked. I’m sorry.” Getting up, Zaya wiped the tears from her eyes, and offered a hand to Mark, which he ignored as he picked himself back up; His body struggled to lift itself, the mud traveling upwards in order to heft him to his feet, which took longer than it would for someone not drained by Zaya’s quirk.
As Mark listened to Jack’s speech, all he could do was look at the dragon with complete and utter disgust; In a way, this felt worse than if Jack had gloated about his win. At least then he could have someone to put in his place; Someone to hate. But this? Not only was he still trying to impart lessons onto him, now he was offering to become a member of his team. Fully on his feet now and with enough energy to at least move around, Mark angrily smacked Jack’s hand away. “You think your stupid pep talks actually help anyone?” He snarled out. “You just come off as obnoxious and irritating.” The mudman looked as though he wanted to say more, but just shoved past Jack, leaving the arena. “My own man…” He gave one last look at his rival, before heading for the exit of the stadium. “You don’t know the half of it.”
Watching her ‘friend’ leave, Zaya took her phone out of her pocket, and instinctively started to text Mark; But stopped before hitting send on a message asking if he was ok. “He just needs some time to blow off steam…” She stated, sighing. “I just can’t get in his head…He really felt like he was my friend before, but after what he said…” Even though Mark was a nuisance to her in the past, and even after what he said, she still wanted to help him; To dig deep down and see if there really was a friend there. “I’ll talk to him later, ok? I mean, he technically didn’t say no, right?” She asked, trying to force a smile.

Looking at the newly created sled, Zaya was thankful that she could give her legs a rest. “Oh, thanks, I-“ Before she could even finish her thought she was shoved onto it, and the sled began moving hellishly fast down the hell. “This thing has brakes, right?” She asked, peeking around her teammates shoulder to see the quickly approaching bottom of the hill. Its not like she was going to be able to stop their ride, unless she was willing to lose an arm. And she couldn’t bail either, not with this anchor holding them back.
So, she really only had one option to bring them to a stop. Charging up electricity in her right hand, she took aim and blasted a hole right in their path. Before she could even brace for impact, the sled hit the rim of the hole, sending the duo tumbling forward, with Zaya landing directly on top of Jouma. Better than him crushing her, at least. “Next time you make one of those things, make a brake pedal.” She complained, picking herself up. “Ok, almost there…So how do we want to approach the monkey bars?” She asked, hoping he wouldn’t suggest something too drastic like the sled. Looking back, she saw many of the other teams now behind them, not having the advantage of a sled to carry them down the hill. Could they actually win this? Part of Zaya was actually starting to get excited, ignoring her horrible exhaustion and replacing her apathy with genuine excitement.

Mark’s needles were easily launched away by the chaos energy, splattering stray mud all over the area, which quickly began to make their way back to their owner. The mudman gritted his teeth as the dragon approached him; The gap in their power was growing more and more apparent by the second. Glaring daggers right back at him, Mark tried to step forward to meet Jack in the middle of the arena, but a mixture of fear and instinct kept his feet firmly planted. Instead, he formed his arm into a mace, and did his best to stand his ground.
When the first burst of chaos energy went off, Mark had to squint his eyes, the wind applying pressure; A man with less drive might have just stepped out there; Was this the fight he wanted? The one he needed? Mark let him finish his speech; His face wordlessly screamed how much he hated every word of it, but he let him finish all the same.
He opened his mouth to speak; But nothing came out; He just closed it again, frustration covering his face as he thought of what exactly he even wanted to say. “Oh, good for you, you’ve just managed to overcome every obstacle in life, haven’t you? You think I care about your ‘motivational speech’ or whatever you’re trying to pull? I asked for a fight, not a goddamn psych evaluation! You hear me? I didn’t ask for your…For your…”
Weakness started to overtake Mark’s body. His mace arm slowly turned back to normal, and his posture started to slump. “Mark, Jack…Its over. This has gone way past a sparring match.” Getting behind Mark and jumping into this nightmare of a battle was terrifying; Probably the scariest thing Zaya had done in her life. Why, she thought, was she so willing to jump into danger here, instead of the villain attack at the mall? “Mark, just take five, ok?” She pleaded, both hands grasping his shoulders. Before the mudman could really protest, he went down, completely exhausted both from Zaya’s quirk and the fight. “I could…No, I didn’t ask you to step in…” Mark stated apathetically as Zaya continued to take his energy. “Jack, this went way too far. I know stepping in invalidates the match, but…” Tears started rolling down her face. “I just couldn’t watch it anymore! I didn’t want you to get hurt! Either of you!”

Zaya blushed out of surprise as her hand was clenched by Jouma’s. “H-hey! I did not give you permission to hold my hand!” She yelled out, startled. Like a cat that didn’t want to be picked up, she retaliated, trying to drain his energy even further; Not out of trying to slow him down, as their pace was more moderate, rather out of sheer annoyance. Honestly, this guy was built like a brick and was about as intelligent as one too. Moving up the hill as she fought to get her hand free of his, sweat was now completely drenching the girl. Her clothes were basically glued to her from the heat, and her hair looked greasy and disgusting; She could only hope showers were readily available after this. Finally at the top of the hill, the race looked just about at the halfway point, with the finish line visible, but still a decent way off. “Hey, is your quirk any use at all for getting us to the end quicker?” Zaya asked, exhausted and uncaring what it took to just end this already. “I can’t even remember if we’re allowed to use our powers for this race, but I think the heat is starting to affect my head…” Even if it was cheating, its not like they’d get kicked out of the school or anything, right? “Like, can you maybe teleport, or turn into a car? Anything speed related, honestly…” Even if she was going to have to sprint a bit longer, anything to get this done so she could get water, lie down and pass out.

Mark smirked at Jack’s question. “Who cares who I’m talking orders from?” He responded with a question of his own, reforming the gash. “Orders are orders; Regardless of who they come from, its all the same! Feels so good not to dictate my life by them for once!” Still swinging his weapons around, the mudman was sent backwards from the force of Jack’s blast. “And who cares what makes sets you apart? I sure don’t!” Planting his feet, Mark tried to advance forward, but the wind was simply too strong. Listening to Jack’s lecture, Mark first felt annoyed; How dare his opponent try to give him advice! Didn’t he realize this was a fight? “What, do I look like I need a fucking instruction manual to use my own power?” He yelled back through the wind, still unable to move forward, but not moving backwards either. Then again, catching him off guard wasn’t too bad of an idea… Loosening up his four arms, he let them fall to his sides and dissolve, turning into long trails of mud rather than anything solid. “Know what, that piece of advice was actually pretty solid, so let me give you some in exchange…” He wasn’t strong enough to make his way to Jack without any kind of foothold; At least, his whole body wasn’t. But the journey wouldn’t be nearly as difficult for a trail of mud making its way through the cracks and curves in the arena’s floor. “Don’t give your opponent advice during a fight!” Once the mud was close enough, Mark would suddenly solidify the mud trails, letting them pop up from their hiding place in the stone curves. Racing right for Jack, they’d turn into thin needles, only as big as the small amount of stealth mud could make them.
