The day had started normally for Bakiri Retsu, just waking up, brushing her teeth and going around beating people. It was only when she'd pulled out a flashbang to throw while running at a thug that things had gotten fucky. Instead of having five seconds to toss it the thing went off right away and it didn't explode, no, the light had formed into a thin beam and the sound seemed restrained into a low hum as if leaking out of the opening of a balloon instead of echoing through the surroundings. Mid-run as she was she only noticed something was off when the beam cut straight through a utility pole and kept humming without a care in the world. 

She'd been very glad she hadn't pulled the pin out with her teeth.

Either way 'negotations' had gone very smoothly with her new toy in hand and she'd gotten what she wanted within minutes. Which was very convenient as a mere ten of them later the grenade -if she could still call it that- had sizzled out and stopped working. Luckily for her she'd found out that every single other flashbang she had -or at the very least the other five she'd tested- worked in a similar way. Retsu had been absolutely flabbergasted until a combination of two things happened.

The first was her dropping one of the bombs before they ran out of steam. Instead of burning a hole through her floor it'd gone off the moment it was more than half a meter away from her, the remaining charge while not as potent still stunning her for a moment. The second had been the radio going on about people strangely awakening new and altered quirks. Her face had lit up like an incendiary and her eyes gleamed. Had she finally awakened her own superpowers? It seemed too good to believe.

Which probably meant it was. For all she knew these powers, whatever they were, could vanish again at any moment. Which meant she had to act fast. She'd been tracking someone that'd scammed her for weeks now but unfortunately ran into the problem that the more she learned about him the more she realized how out of her depth she was. Today however her sources had informed her he'd been acting off. 

The floating rocks he permanently kept around his hands like a bracelet had been suspiciously missing and he'd been aggravated all day, even going so far as to head to the Oasis Lounge earlier than he usually did. She could put two and two together. The prick was 'suffering' from the same problem she was but unlike her, he hadn't grown used to having to adapt on the fly.

Whether or not her newfound ability was permanent or not however she felt it'd serve her well to hide the fact that it was her that had a power like that. As such she'd donned a voluminous, hooded black robe -don't ask why she had that lying around- before heading out. It had taken a lot of waiting for the man to finally leave but she'd eventually been able to corner him in an alleyway behind the lounge.

"Master Jin, fancy meetin' you 'ere." Retsu said with a crescent smile. A single hand left her robe, flashbang or more accurately the hilt or her blade held tightly within her fist.
