 "Alice. . . Is you."Pim, and nobody but Pim would hear this warped voice inside their consciousness. But before they would have time to question it, Hibiki's legs would be swept underfoot by a broom- the cheshire cat's surroundings becoming even more of a blur now that they were at even speed with the double-Alice ahead of them. Should Pim in Hibiki's body have looked down, they would realize that whatever was now carrying them only resembled a broom in shape. It was in fact an alien, only that it wasn't at all in-theme with those that surrounded them all.Bushy stalk-like legs, round eyes, and a sensation like the touch of a starfish as they held on.How did a quirk enter this dream-like space? Did this mean that they were all truly in a different reality?"Mhm! I know that you don't belong here!"The Alice in the ponytail and frills replied, speeding through thin air backwards as if it was second nature to her. The other Alice seemed to still be mesmerized by the sights around them, not paying much attention to Pim inside of Hibiki, who was riding Toto like a vehicle.Whatever was in her hand- something that looked like one of those magical girl toys they sold at the mall, was pointed towards Pim as if it were a Glock. Knowing the black cat was the intruder, it was obvious the natives of this land would be confrontational.
"I shouldn't be here either- but here we are! I don't know who the sussy frick you are, but I'm gonna figure out what's going on here! Don't cause trouble!"Just then, a great rumble would seemingly shake the entire space. Not just the train, but the stars and planets outside it, and everything that seemed to be contained in this pocket universe. Whatever was providing lighting to the entire train flickered, threatening to turn itself off entirely."That's not good- let's get to her brother ASAP!"The twins would speed off in the direction that was hopefully their destination- with the alien carrying Hibiki speeding off even faster after them.Would they all make it to the brother before this entire world collapsed in on itself?

 "Gueh-"Claudio's poke was for sure stronger than his own. As the bendy arm stretched out and pushed on Shion's forehead further and further, the youth was eventually forced to push the cloud's arm out of the way to keep himself from falling flat on his ass. Skin on the knuckles that were almost hard like fingernails brushed against cotton bandages, as their respective owners must've looked quite odd, entertaining even with their own weird little banter."Okay okay, stop! I don't wanna hear it!"It had almost been a month since the incident that was possibly Shion's greatest shame to date. Not only did he get rejected, but it had to be some Brazilian doofus who'd never let him live it down!But. . . was it all that bad?Shion took his hands off his ears, his expression growing less sour. He had friends before- but it'd been a while since someone showed him some care while not coddling his feelings at the same time. Compared to Sadako's methods, this felt somewhat as effective as therapy.Or maybe it was just the feeling of happiness at seeing someone familiar."Right. . . I got so roughed up trying to save that helmet lady. Didn't see her face, but those bombs! Man, I'd like to use them again!"There was a specific joy in being able to touch and use military equipment in active combat. For Shion, using that AT-Grenade was like throwing a baseball that could blow up!He was woken up from his dream of holding explosives by suddenly having a broom shoved into his hands. From the looks of it, Shion trusted Claudio to have paid for it. . . but did he really? He remembered hearing somewhere that South Americans outright stole a lot of the time.Well, that'd be another charge to add on top of illegal quirk usage."Well. . . brooms, mops, and big brushes work fine! I've never tried with anything too different because I don't know what'll-"And then Claudio just took off mid-sentence, leaving Shion in a cloud that was far browner and mustier than that of the student. He coughed, before materializing Toto in a twist of flesh to chase after his classmate. . . and friend?"Hey, wait!"But Claudio was right- it was getting quite dark. It was a scene Shion had seen countless times, but the sunset was beautiful as always, only today that some of the clouds were turned dark gray from blocking Sol in all her radiance. The light almost looked like it was coming out of the clouds themselves. . .

Toto, as small and unthreatening as they seemed to be, was made to deceive. Sliding across the air vertically to avoid the criminal's sticky tentacles, they stuck onto the ceiling before crawling forwards like a nightmare spider would.With a thud, the robber accosted by Homura's quirk slammed against the counter, the force from the impact making the cash register on top ring as its compartment shot open. *CLANG*Red met black as the metal lining of a fire extinguisher met the thug's balaclava. Despite having only disappeared for at most 30 seconds, Shion stood up from behind the same counter and swung down with the improvised hammer, striking the robber in the head. A second blow shoved them forwards, before a cloud of white matter enveloped the whole counter.The youth grit their teeth as they aimed the nozzle towards the large man, knowing that despite the element of surprise being on his side, everything in his arsenal, every advantage had to be used if he wanted to win.I'll handle him, so you take the other one.Is what Shion would have said if yelling wouldn't have given away his location. And in the depths of the bubbly smoke, Toto pounced. Descending from the ceiling, they would coil themselves around the thick neck of the robber and attempt to constrict them like a Boa. Stalks, both like wood and meat, locked together to close the passage of air in this unfortunate man.

Shion walked down the busy hallway that was lined with entrances to various rooms filled with sounds of machinery. It was honestly impressive how these support students managed to spend literal days in this building. You couldn't even pay Shion to live someplace this loud and. . . artificial. Even though the department was dwarfed by the number of students who wanted to be heroes, himself included, there were still more labs in this building than Shion could count. A room with what appeared to be a large mechanical arm, another room with four turrets encircling and flashing their targeting lasers at a large mirror, a room that had many jars full of orange liquid, a kitchen where people were just making cookies. . . And finally, the lab he was looking for. Toto was held tightly in both hands, their companion neglecting to look at them all that fondly today. A few weeks prior, Shion had managed to ask Sumi, one of the other students to try using Toto for one of her experiments. If it went well, he'd be able to keep the gear she was going to attempt implanting into his quirk. A knock rattled at the door to the lab, the guest of honor was here.

Shion's almost googly-eyed look changed to a smile he often wore. There was no sign of tension, almost as if they didn't just interrupt an intense fight."Great! Sounds like you both had a lot of fun!"Either he was assuming it was a simple play-fight, or didn't witness the absolute terror Jun was experiencing when Toto started crawling onto her like a bug.In fact, it probably was the case that he was in a completely different world than them just now.The normally sunbaked desert that was this part of the training grounds felt cooler now that the sun was beginning to set, allowing various structures in the distance to extend their dark reach. Shion walked out of one of these black skyscrapers, scooping up the utterly docile creature into their arms."But that's weird- Toto doesn't talk to anyone. Not ever since. . . the accident."Shion put particular emphasis on those two last words, head snapping sideways, looking at his upperclassman directly in the eye as his smile was suddenly gone. Shion hopped from one mirror to another, like a happy frog in a pond full of lily pads. Every look at himself through these magic rectangles was like seeing his reflection on the clearest of waters with how cute the outfit looked!He turned around, trying to answer the designer's question with a bit of a difficult face. "Mmm. . . nothing I can think of, other than it maybe tearing when I'm on-duty."Shion's arm was reaching to the open back, trying to scratch an itch that had suddenly made it's way there. But alas, his torso was short and so were his appendages.Toto was picked up from the corner they were in, before their companion grabbed them by the lower end and began using the handle as a backscratcher."Aah- better. Not sure if I can afford tougher material though- I'm pretty broke compared to most guys in U.A.!"Said the wastrel who had just bought a black dress from a store somewhere else! Granted, it was second-hand and was on sale. Inconspicuous oil stains on the inside definitely helped make em' cheaper!His expression returned to one of joy as his air-filled brain came up with another idea. It couldn't be help but be shared with Auden."Hey! Don't you wanna take a picture of this and send it to your family? We both think it's pretty cool right? They might like it!"As far as Shion knew, Auden lived far away from any kind of family while out here in Tokyo. He was also American, right? Red as the blood in both of their bodies. . . something that even the moon up there looked like would produce upon cracking like an egg.But why was the moon there? Wasn't it morning?"I can see now. Even someone like you isn't invincible."Shion said in a clear voice, seeming to have formed some kind of understanding regarding his peer lying next to him.Tension seemed to leave his body like a deflating bicycle tire. Toto was focused on a trail of ants crossing the rammed dirt.He felt a certain confidence knowing that someone stronger than him had a weakness."Farrin. . . what were you going through this whole time we were talking?"The youth asked bluntly, straight to the point. It had been difficult to ignore his various facial expression and ticks that weren't usually seen on him. Especially with the blatant untruth spoken at the end, Shion had every right to ask what was going on.He understood the Time Turner's reason now in a sense, a part of the mechanism that kept him going at this insane pace of self-improvement. But was it exactly that reason that was causing him pain?

The single eye behind the bandages and red hair thinned its eyelids, the counselor now barely able to see the iris behind them. It was the same for Shion, Sadako's gentle face becoming a dim silhouette in his vision."Oh. . . I hope that's true."He felt that while nothing she said was incorrect, the picture she was painting for him wasn't exactly complete. It was like the depiction of a green meadow, only that the sky above was a simple blank of canvas rather than any color.If anybody would look at the actual painting, they would all say "strange"."After everything that's happened, I feel more. . . confused than before. I see things every day, but I can't explain what my questions are."Shion looked down at the cup full of tea he was holding. Tea, like water could fit the shape of anything it was put inside. He aspired to be able to do the same thing, but his current state was a far cry from that ideal. He felt like he was being stuffed into a similar container, only with all his joins and parts being twisted and bent in the wrong way."This place, this entire city. . . When I ask someone else, when I ask what they've seen- it's completely different from anything I have. It's like the world I'm in when I'm alone, and the world when I'm with someone I know is completely different."With his eye still barely open, his fixed words became more of disoriented rant, his voice losing a sense of gravity and emotion it had and assuming a monotone. And Toto doesn't feel like a friend now- they scare me."The alien was nowhere to be found in the room, even though they were practically inseparable whenever Sadako would see them both in passing."I wonder why. . . instead of handing out bread, I want to try holding grenades. . . weapons. Dangerous things like that."Crik
A thin black line appeared near the top of the teacup held by Shion. Either his strength had changed, or this cup was fragile from the start."Sadako-san, I'm still Shion. Right? Please call me Shion. Please don't call me anything else."

Absolute shame.Though, it was quite funny. Shion would've been laughing as well if he wasn't the one being laughed at.He didn't even move as the Cloud was promptly kicked out by the staff, leaving him alone in the fetal position. The tatami underneath was beginning to feel moist from sweat, but that wasn't enough to get Shion up.Not at all. Despite being alone, everyone was still laughing at him. The buzz from the electric light above sounded like thousands of voices in unison, just someplace far, far away. The silence of the table next to him elicited judgement, and the teacup on the floor was the same. The window opened and close with the wind, repeating the slamming noise over and over.Soon, all he could hear was laughing. Every object around Shion had grown a mouth, moving cartoonishly as if it were some kind of fever dream. Even if he wasn't looking at them, Shion could tell that the mouths were there.The lamp giggled in an annoyingly high voice, the table guffawed with a deep baritone, the teacup chortled effeminately, and the window was quite literally LMAO'ing like a fat man at his keyboard would.It was all so loud, and in time, the youth would suddenly sit up. Grinning uncomfortably to try and bear it. Even if they didn't have eyes, he could tell that he was the center of attention. And that these objects were getting closer and closer.But just as he thought he was going to break completely-Creak
Just like that, everything stopped. Now it was the opposite- all quiet. Even quieter before the laughing began.Shuffling was heard behind the door, to which Shion turned to look.But as it opened, all he could do was smile in relief after seeing who it was.

Farrin wouldn't know."Or. . . is it that you don't like that idea because Farrin O'Rourke's nonexistence would mean Farrin O'Rourke can't be a hero?"He continued to ponder, eyes looking at nothing while trying to establish a firmament- one onto which the Time Turner's opinion could be rationalized in a stable fashion."Come to think of it, seeing your weird shadowboxing habit a lot during training got me curious. You even did it just now! So, I went around and asked other people about you for the past few days."Shion absentmindedly mentioned his behavior, that of what basically amounted to indirect stalking. He straight-up gathered information of somebody they had never spoken to.Was it really from curiosity?"Training, patrols, then some sparring, and training again. . . No one ever sees you doing anything else!"His head turned to the side, looking straight towards whatever facial expression Farrin was making this time. An inquisitive spark in his magenta eyes, potentially becoming a true flame fueled by knowledge he would gain from these questions."If I had to make a guess, you seem pretty dead set on being a hero. . . almost like you have to be one. Though, I could be wrong."Toto's tendrils swayed in the wind as his eyes stared into the red horizon, the sun appearing to remain very still in the distance. What was a soft smile could very suddenly become a knowing smirk, depending on the situation and the words thrown around. Shion's by this point was ambiguous in the comfort it offered, just like the quirk he always carried with him.Not to mention the very potential Farrin was thinking about before."So. . . is that why you shadow-box? Does there always have to be Oberon if Farrin O'Rourke exists?"Then, came the final prod of the scalpel through the skull. Into the gray matter of the brain that held the mind.

A clear tremble went down Shion's spine, his pupils blowing wide open as soon the threatening situation arose.Those same eyes would meet Homura's, who's in contrast were a harsher shade of yellow. If both of their sets were compared to gemstones, the "girl" had simple stained glass in comparison to the natural-grown amber preserved over millennia underground.". . ."He'd be given a quiet nod in response to the request, though rather than timid obedience it was one of cold understanding. The face remained expressionless as the shopping cart full of produce was dropped to the floor, it's prior carrier silently retreating behind several sets of stocked shelves for cover.Homura was now alone, two imposing figures opposite to him. As they blocked the only exit known to anyone here, it seemed like the young man had no choice but to fight his way out.Or maybe talk the robbers out of this somehow. . . could they even hear anything under all they wore?However, before either party could make a move, a small shadow showed up in Homura's vision as something glided past him on the ground.Toto.The broom-like sea creature stood before the two large men, simply looking up at them both with round eyes on the ends of stalks.Smallest, and the weirdest looking out of anyone in the store, they challenged the two imposing adversaries.Before doing anything else, it seemed like the robbers had to deal with this piece of vermin first.
