'Dammit!'
The fish turned tail, at the very last moment, instead going after the fancy-suit and the jewel. The glowy thing attracted it, like bait a fish! They had to get it to the surface, but... 'There's no way those guys would make it past... They just can't swim... Which means...!!!'
Freja had the same idea! She tossed the jewel across the arena with the skill and posture of a professional baseball player. And Mako was pretty trash at catching, so she got the shiny rock square to the face, leaving a lump on her forehead, before it dropped into her hands.
"Gyah-kero! I mean... Eeek!"
Mako saw the fish turn around to go after her again. Oh yeah, she was definitely a target now! The girl pushed away from the bottom, with her strong legs, channeling the essence of Frogge, and started swimming right for the surface! The fear of being eaten felt so palpable, Mako forgot this was even a dream! She was giving it her own, batting her webbed feet and rowing with her arms like never before! She didn't need to carry the jewel in them - it was held in her mouth, with sticky tongue glued to it for good measure!
It all came down to speed now. At the top of the glade, she could see something like a blinding light! And a voice calling to them! Telling to bring the jewel. So Mako did her best, and then some.
This was the most intense dream ever!

"Shit-fuck-gyaahhh-kero!"
Mako was swept aside as her attempt to placate the beast had failed. She could only watch as the sea monster slammed itself against some ruins, almost getting some of it toppling on top of the posh fellow! Who seemed too oblivious to his surroundings, eager to catch the fish instead! 'I need to distract it from them...' - Mako thought.
And, fortunately, she didn't have to wait long!
The eel turned around and decided to pick her as a target! Which was all fine and good, but... now Mako had to fend for herself. She frowned, her hands balled into fists.
"Fine... No more miss nice girl-kero..." - she grumbled before... making a run for it! Being the better swimmer, Mako actually had a chance to not be immediately caught by the eel, unlike her teammates. As she did so, she frantically looked for something, anything that could help her defeat the big fish! 'God I miss having shark teeth... Maybe there's a harpoon or something lying around here or... Oh! Idea-kero!'
In front of herself, Mako saw a few columns supporting the remains of a heavy stone slab on top of it. She swam there, and landed with her feet on the ground, before turning around and facing the monster! Taking a fighting stance as though the girl was gonna face it head-on! But that was a ploy! And should the big eel charge her and try swallow her whole, at the very last moment Mako would release all the force in her legs and propel herself up, away from the big fish! And hope that inertia from the charge would lead it to hitting those pillars, and collapsing the slab on top of itself!
"Did you catch the fish yet? Any time now!" - Mako yelled to the rest of her squad.
He-he, Dream-team.
Kero.
__________
TLDR: Mako lures the big fish to a part of the ruins with some columns and a roof and jumps away at the very last moment, using the power of Froggeh to leap far away. If successful, the eel will hopefully collapse some of the ruins and a big slab of stone on top of itself! Kero.

"Stop saying kero-kero!"Mako gasped exasperatedly, as she managed to pull these people out of the jaws of death, and swim away with them. She did not know if they were real or not, pretty convinced they were figments of her imagination. Still, they acted too real to just leave behind. And besides, they did help out! The girl did not know when she was gonna wake up from this, but a dream about defeating a beast was much better than about being eaten! Eww. So, the three made a run... Or a hop, or a swim for it! Up until reaching some kind of a circular arena. The big fish right on their tail, though getting thwarted by smoke. When it started shooting bubbles of water, Mako hid behind one of the columns, which shook upon receiving impact. This thing's gonna blow up the whole damn place... And possibly bury us underneath! Looking at others, though, they seemed determined enough to fight... Except, only Mako felt like she could get up close to this thing without getting eaten. Suddenly, an idea came to her mind. Her extensive knowledge of useless trivia about marine life might be helpful here! "I might have an idea-kero. If it fails, we'll just have to beat it up, somehow. Distract it for me!"With that, she glued her tongue to one of the columns, as a safety cord to pull away, and swam towards the big eel-like thing. The smoke and whatever Elias would do could provide enough distraction, to get all the way up into the creature's face. And when Mako would get within her arms' reach... She would grab the sides of the beast's snout. And rub them. Really fast and hard. This trick worked on sharks. As well as other species f fish, and even not-fish! Inducing a state called tonic immobility. A stasis, of sort, that could last up to 15 minutes! And work on creatures big or small. It was a gamble, but if worked... it could buy just enough time to go catch the glowy fishes and leave them alone! If not... Mako would pull herself out with her own tongue. _____________ TLDR: Mako uses the smoke and other stuff to approach the beast, and tries to pet its face to induce a state of tonic immobility. If it fails, she will pull herself away using her tongue.

"My name is not Mako-kero, kero!"
Mako said exasperatedly, and rolled her eyes at Freja. At any rate, everything seemed to be going fine. So, she decided to help out with fishing. Eyeing one of the fishes that seemed different from the others, like having a gem, she aimed, and shot her tongue out. It was long, and reached as quick as a fishing spear, blepping the fish and dragging it back! Mako held it neatly in hand, and was about to give a thumbs up for everyone else to follow, when...
"Gyah! Called it-kero!"
It wasn't an angler fish, but it was close enough! And it was going to try and swallow one of her imaginary friends! The fellow with red strings was holding on for dear life, and the hallucination named Freja tried to fight the beast, before being close to swallowed too! "We might've bitten more than we can chew-kerrr... grrr..." - Mako groaned. She had to do something! Once more, that long tongue of hers came to the rescue! When she could see the beast trying to close her mouth around Freja , she shot her tongue straight for her! It was strong and sticky, and if allowed, she'd yoink the girl straight out of the jaws!
"Gwab ze owwer guy, I'll pull yuu ouffft!"
Whether Freja understood the assignment or not, Mako was gonna try and save at least one of them. Soon, she'd pull hard, dragging the person... or maybe even two people, back, and out of the maw!
______________
Tldr: Mako caught what she thinks is a gem-fish. She then uses her tongue to grab Freja. She will pull her out. Whether Freja manages to grab onto Elias or not before it happens is up to her!

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's my dream-kero."
Mako said and winced again. It seemed like this dream of hers came with an annoying speech tick attached! But she seemed pretty relaxed, all and all, despite the situation. Probably because she was convinced this was her dream, and not something forced from the outside. Despite these guys saying something about a 'dream attack'.
"I remember dosing off. My quirk's that of a shark, and I do dream about the ocean a lot-kero. Pretty certain I'm not a frog, so this has to be a dream. Remember thinking that going to the festival was stupid. You must be a dream-representation of that thought-kero." - Mako pointed towards Freja. As she then turned to Elias, her expression became quizzical.
"You uhh... no idea what are you supposed to be. You kinda look like a guy whose nose I broke in middle-school-kero."
With that, the three followed into the chasm, which lead deeper, into the dark. Mako felt it in her bones, the uneasiness. There was plenty of colorful fish around, some of them glowing. As if carrying what they were looking for. This Freja girl went to try and catch one, but being a clumsy human, she, of course, failed. The other fellow proved more agile, using those red strands of his. Creepy. What worried Mako was not the fish, but the unshakable feeling of being... watched.
"Careful with glowy things. Wouldn't put it past my mind to conjure a giant angler fish-kero."
That in mind, Mako stayed back a bit. Should something big and scary come at Elias or Freja, she would pull them away from danger! 'This tongue gotta be good for something... I could think of a few things...'

"The praying mantis may look like a bug in the church, but this crazy mother-sucker is not to be messed with!"
An american nature documentary was playing in the background. Its flashy jump-cuts, silly growly noises for attacks, and a vague Duke Nukem-like voice in the background was strangely entertaining. At least for the kids. The Hojirozame family was doing its evening ritual of watching TV together. Mako was here, of course, she took a day off. Her cute little siblings, Koyomi, Sakaki, and Tomo, were sitting all around her, watching the bugs fight with amazement and enthusiasm only children could have. Tomo, the youngest, was hopping in her lap.
Mako used the time to catch some Z's, watching the TV with half-lidded eyes, as she was slowly falling asleep. Her family did not go to the Dream Festival tonight.
'Stupid... festival... Villains gonna try something anyway... Won't be there to clean up the mess... Saved... 4000 yen...'
She never noticed the bright flash outside, coming across the sky, painting it purple. The story of the spider that ShOuLd HaVe PrAyEd tO tHe MaNtIs lulled her into a deep slumber long before that. At first, all she had seen was darkness. No sounds, no thoughts, no nothing. But then, the shark-girl opened her eyes again. It was not home. Instead... it was at the bottom of the ocean. The light coming from above in the distance made the water glow. It was so calming and pretty. Mako was no stranger to such views. Often, she laid on the ocean floor herself, and looked up, enjoying the view. A content smile came across her features.
'This is nice...'
And yet... it was weird. Mako knew it wasn't real, somehow. The water felt ... strange. She couldn't feel it pass through her gills. In fact... she couldn't feel no gills on her neck at all. Raising a hand up in the water, she looked at her fingers, which seemed to have grown bigger, and had webbing between the fingers. The girl's mouth felt ... full somehow. Not in an uncomfortable way, but ... different. Like her tongue became much longer too. And was nestled somewhere ready to lash out.
'Has to be a dream of somekind... So weird... Not the weirdest though... One night I had one with a horse, and...'
Mako's musings were interrupted when a translucent figure appeared. She spoke of the ocean floor, and an orange jewel, before disappearing. Leaving Mako sitting up, and looking at the other two figures, who materialized out of nowhere. One of them seemed vaguely familiar, the other - not at all. A sheepish girl and a name in a fancy suit. Freja and Elias. Nope, didn't ring a bell. Figures to meet people I've never seen before, in my dream. Shrugging, she stood up. Her eyes, usually squinting suspiciously, were now opened wide. Almost as if she were in a state of wonder, even though the girl did not make any effort to look that way.
"Name's Mako-kero. You're in my dream-kero. I don't think I've seen anyone else-kero. Or met you two-kerrrr... Grrrr..."
Mako let out a growl at the end of the last sentence. That growl though sounded like a croaking, frog-like noise. How annoying!
"Might as well go where the lady told us to go-krrr... That's how dreams usually go."

Mako barely listened to the lecture about her being a bad student, being replaceable, and yada yada. It was ... sort of lulling her to sleep. She yawned and closed her eyes under the book again, and started to doze off. She was woken up again only when she heard the scraping oif the chair against the floor, followed by a question about why she wanted to become a hero. She looked at the lady from under the book, with one lazy eye. ' She really wouldn't just let me be, would she?'The girl sighed. "Heard it pays well..." - she shrugged. "Figured I'd be paid for being one... And do lifeguard duty at the local beach. Same work, twice the pay. It's all my quirk would be good for..." - she trailed off. Remembering how out of place it was in her school, how it drove people away and made them afraid. The shark didn't like it back then... or now. But it was a weakness this lady didn't need to know about. "Besides, aren't you forbidden from using it if you don't have your hero badge?"Mako snarled at that last one. She didn't like that law. Had it not been the case, she'd be a lifeguard full-time already. Instead, she was stuck here... And having to split her day in half, to attend more schooling she felt she didn't need. "Didn't imagine it like this though... I thought I'd be practicing swimming, fighting, maybe emergency medicine. Yknow, stuff that keeps people alive? Two thirds of what I'm doing is highschool all over again. With extra steps."

Mako snickered a little as she heard Junsuina asking for a hand.
For some reason her mind jumped to at least three jokes. One of which included throwing a human hand her way. But ... there was none here. And she'd probably freak out, too... Still, the shark-girl continued paddling along with the boat, until it was a bit stuck when the barrels reached the sandy ground near the shore. Most of the boat was above the water now, though! So they could do something about it.
"I'll have a crack at it!"
With that, Mako untied the front barrels, and moved them away. Letting the boat being dragged forward till the next pair of barrels hit the same place. This repeated a few times, but with every set of barrels, the nose of the boat went forward, to the shore! And when the last ones were gone, the boat flopped on its belly, almost at the shore! The girl pushed at it from behind, her feet digging into the sand. A few heaves, and they were done!
The boat was moored ashore. And leaking water from the gap made in it by the beast.
"Phew!" - the shark-girl said, grinned, and gave Jun a thumbs up. "We did it! You got your boat back. Can't promise how much it can be salvaged, though..." - she scratched her head. "You got a pretty useful power, there. All I get is being a half-fish."

"That's the plan! Now you're getting it!"
Mako grinned with her toothy smile, as she caught the barrel. Beating as hard as she could with her legs and her tail, she managed to push it down to where boat was, enough for the rope attached to the handle to reach it. She passed the rope through the mooring ring and pulled on it, to drag the barrel closer, before tying it up. Then, she swam back up for another barrel. Repeated the whole thing.
It would require more than a few barrels, though. The boat itself and the water in it weighted plenty. So, Mako had to dive like 7 times more, so that there were 4 barrels on either side. When the last one was attached, the boat disturbed the sand underneath, as it slowly started rising upwards, getting closer and closer to the surface. The barrels broke the water glade first, while the boat remained underneath. Still, it was off the ocean floor, meaning that it could be dragged towards the shore. Popping out of the water, Mako waved her hand to Jun.
"It worked! Ptooey~ Now... use those chains or whatever and drag it to the shore!"
The hardest part was over, or so it seemed, at least...

Was that... a threat?
Mako slowly moved the book off of her face, and made eye contact with her diminutive councilor. There was no mistake in her gaze. It was one step away from hostile. The look of a person sizing another one for a fight. It did not last long. The girl made an effort to suppress it, and when that did not work, she just hid her face under the book again. A few long moments passed, and her breathing returned to normal. One could even assume she went to sleep. But then, the shark spoke.
"Nah... I don't think so."
She sounded pretty calm for someone seemingly hostile a moment ago. "School's a mess as it is. Superpowered fights and all. I've been staying out of that. If the violent assholes are still around, doubt I'll go before they do."
Mako shrugged.
"Besides..." - she trailed off. "Not many aquatic students around. Someone needs to save people from drowning. And fight mutated crab-shark things." - the girl waved one of her hands, letting the sleeve slip down. Showing scars of several violent bites on her forearm, likely caused by triangular, serrated teeth. "I think I'm here because the math teacher has a grudge. I didn't ask for any help. Been managing my problems just fine..."
She yawned, and stretched on the sofa. Pondering that last question. The bottom half of her face wasn't hidden by the book. So Sadako could see a frown forming. Like a reaction to something she didn't want to discuss.
"I'm falling asleep because I'm tired. If you let me sleep in peace, I won't be sleeping in class."

A few journeys back and forth, and they had a dozen barrels lined up at the pier, right above where the boat sunk.
Mako's been bringing those along, with a toothy grin on her face. She knew something, and was confident it would work. She also brought some rope with herself, which she cut into pieces, a few feet each, and put each piece through the handle of each of the barrels. Once they were done, she would explain her clever plan.
"Barrels are full of air. But I can pull them down underwater. Then I'm gonna tie them to your boat. With enough barrels, it'll float right off the seafloor, and we could bring it back to the shore!"
The shark-girl explained, as she disrobed, leaving herself in her one-piece blue swimsuit, with the name 'Mako' painted on her back. Taking a deep breath, she started transforming again. Unsettling sounds of crunching bone and joints popping, as she grew a tail, literally, as well as fins, teeth, and her skin turned gray. Mako would've preferred not to do it, but she was stronger that way. Climbing down the ladder, down to the water, she dived in, and went all the way to the bottom, where the boat was. Wasn't hard to find. It was mostly intact... minus the big chunk bitten off.
'Yeah... that would take a while to fix...'
Swimming back up, she waved to Jun, from down below.
"It's not in pieces, just a big gaping hole at the bottom! Throw me the barrels! One at a time though, don't want them to float away. If you can find a way to push on them to make them sink, that'd be great too!"

"Shame. This thing's gonna be much harder, then."
Mako really hoped that the girl could just imagine a functioning crane into existence. With engine and whatnot. Sadly, that wasn't the case. Chains and guns weren't going to help them much, around here. As for dynamics of getting things into and out of the water, the shark-girl knew a thing or two. What she knew wasn't exactly giving her confidence, though.
"See, we'll have to lift the boat, the water inside the boat, and the water pressing on top of the boat as we pull it up. That's gonna be a few tons of weight. Can you lift a few tons? I don't think I can."
Mako shrugged. No makeshift raft was gonna hold a few tons either. There had to be another way. She tapped her chin, thinking and raking her brain. Though the shark knew how to save people, lifting heavy objects off the ocean floor was a different thing entirely. Most of the time, her primary concern was to help people float above the water, and...
'Wait... that's it!'
"I have an idea."
Knowing her way around, Mako went to where the shed for all the maintenance equipment for the docks was. She came back a minute or so later, carrying a couple of big empty plastic barrels. Looking at Jun, and grinning.
"Help me bring more of those from over there. We're gonna need plenty."

Mako let out a laugh, at Jun's confusion.
'Jeez, this girl's even less humorous than I am.'
She looked over the silhouette in the water, while her new buddy stated her woes over the sunken boat, and the ribs that were still bruised. The shark-girl gave her a look of chiding concern, and sighed, shaking her head a bit. "Were you a child of mine I'd give you a scolding and send you to bed till you're fully healed. But you're not so... whatever floats your boat? Snrk..." - Mako snorted a bit over the unintended pun.
Her thoughts focused more on the task at hand, and the aftermath of the battle with the creature. The mention of the smell made the girl's eyes roll.
"Tell me about the smell. I got a mouthful of that purple tentacle gunk. Still not sure I won't grow one in a few weeks. I suppose I could help you out with the boat. My quirk would be useful for once. Might need bigger tools than these though." - she nodded towards the hook and the net on her shoulder. Tapping her chin, Mako thought about it for a little while.
Then, she had an idea.
"Say, you can make those green gun things, yeah? Think you could make a crane with a winch or something? I could dive down there and attach some cables to your boat, or what's left of it, and you can pull it ashore. Something like that."

'She's tiny...'
And non-threatening. As counselors probably should be. But... it also made it harder for Mako to take ms. Gotoh seriously. She did not believe much in the whole psychoanalysis mumbo-jumbo. In her family personal problems were one's own burdens, and she wasn't gonna share them. Not that she believed she had anything worth sharing anyway. As she was offered to seat in the chair, her eyes scanned the room instead. She spotted the couch. Walking right past the lady, she beelined towards it, and flopped on top.
"I feel like I've been told to waste time here once every week, for a month."
Pulling one of her study books from the old backpack, which looked as though it belonged to her grandmother, she put it over her head, to cover herself up from the light.
"Listen, lady..." - Mako decided to cut through all the bullshit beat-around-the-bush questions, and get straight to the chase. Her tone wasn't hostile, but forceful in a way. Like she was telling the councilor what was gonna happen, no ifs or buts. "I've no quarrel with you. Since we're stuck together for a while, I'm gonna use this time to sleep. At the end of this thing I'll write you a stellar review on how you changed my life and whatever... Everyone's happy. Deal?"
Mako yawned widely, showing her rows of sharp, triangular teeth. And if that wasn't enough about what kind of quirk she had...
"You can... mrr... read my student profile in the meanwhile... It has answers to... questions..."
She was dozing off already.

There weren't a lot of people around at the docks.
The terror attack by sea monsters was still fresh on everyone's minds. Fishermen beached their boats, and the regular goers decided to wait it out till the coast was clear. Besides, there was a lot of debris under the water, that needed taking out before waters would be deemed safe to the public.
Mako wasn't most people. This place was her favorite fishing spot, and she couldn't fish so long there were broken boats and other trash floating in the water. She doubted fish would return any time soon, no doubt scared by the monsters and the miasma they left in the aftermath of the fight. So, she showed up in her working clothes - which were her old kimono pants and a white t-shirt, under which she had her old school swimsuit too. On her shoulder there was a pole with a hook on it. And a pole with a small net on it. Tools necessary for taking stuff out of the water.
Someone was there already. Narrowing her eyes, the shark-girl recognized the silhouette. It was that hero-girl from before! The one that hated getting touched. She waved at her from the distance.
"Yo! Miss Fortune!" - Mako came up with a nickname on the spot. As she approached, she loomed over Jun, and grinned with her toothy grin, from ear to ear. "Didn't think you'd be out of the hospital so soon. Thought you broke a few ribs. Came to help out with the community effort?"
Shark-girl looked around. She didn't see no tools.
