"Oh, you flatterer~" Misaki joked while flicking her hair. "Do keep going though." She added with a wink and a smug laugh in an attempt to hide her embarrassment. As an idol she was no stranger to compliments but it rarely felt so genuine or personal. "Although..." Putting her hands on her hips and narrowing her eyes Misaki leaned forward. "Don't put down your own efforts. I've seen firsthand the kind of hours you put in, so-" Straightening back up she left one hand on her hip and aimed fingerguns at Masao with the other. "-lemme see what you've come up with." Misaki could hardly wait.
"It's very fancy armor," A confident nod further emphasized her point. "My quirk makes vibrations. Imagine what kinda nightmare PR is gonna be for me." She was barely able to keep a straight face as she spoke. Ah, the things she did for her friends. Misery loved company so instead she wiggled her eyebrows so she wasn't alone in her embarrassment.
Any further thought was lost to the sound of squealing upon receiving the Grand Revelation. Masao had gotten a boyfriend? When? How? Who? What was he like? Was it someone she knew? Details, girl, details.
"♫I didn't~♫" Misaki replied in a singsongy, lilting voice with the expression of the cat that ate the canary on her face. "♫ You just confirmed it~♫"
Leaning in and nodding as she attentively listened thoughts raised through Misaki's mind. He'd said he was her boyfriend? Alarm bells would be ringing right now if she didn't know Masao so well. It was probably just something along the lines of him confirming what Masao was uncertain about, just in case though she'd be keeping an eye on him. If he hurt their Masao no punishment would be creative enough.
More importantly though she just confirmed that she liked him too? Misaki's eyes practically sparkled and widened as she leaned in even further, hands clutched to her chest and suppressing another squeal while she nodded frantically in affirmation. "A date?" She echoed just as Masao squatted and covered her face. Unwilling to let her victi- friend escape interro- support Misaki leaned even further forward. "K-ki-?!?!"
A pack of frenzied girl scouts would be jealous of the pitch that left Misaki's mouth. She wouldn't be surprised if a new urban legend formed in the aftermath of her squeal that could surely have been heard from miles away. Misaki's hands rapidly moved back and forth as she crouched down in front of Masao as well with a Cheshire grin so wide her cheeks hurt. Masao's next question took her off guard and for a moment she remained deep in thought. Reassure or exploit? Reassure? Exploit? There was only one option a good friend could go for.
"Of course not Masao, I could never." Reassuring her won out in the end. "So long as you tell me EVERYTHING of course. What's his name? What does he look like? What's he like? Where did you two meet? How long have you two known each other? Where did you go for your date? What was the date like? Did he give you any presents? What's he studying? Wait, is he a student or is he older? I won't judge. Oooh, is he rich? Where's he from? How'd you fall in love with him? What do you like about him? Come on don't leave me waiting, details girl!" Nope, it didn't after all.

Quirks that worked based on song were a rarity, so much so that Misaki was greatly looking forward to meeting someone else that possessed one. The fact that she could get some extra credit out of it was just the cherry on top.
With how busy life was she hadn't had quite as much time as she wanted to focus on the grade-related portions of heroics and as much as she hated to admit it Misaki might be in for a rough time if she didn't get them up. Tutoring and mentorships were just the things she needed and what do you know, there just happened to be someone with an extremely compatible ability.
...Well, that and the fact that it provided an excuse to do Karaoke for academic purposes. Misaki needed few other reasons. Or any for that matter. She was no stranger to this place in particular, its proximity to UAU made it the place-to-be for her when she needed to unwind after classes, but it was rare that she could coax someone into accompanying her. Masao and Ylva always happened to be 'busy' when she asked so usually she just sang by herself to get some stress out of her system. That all changed today. Checking her phone again she got ready to welcome her prospective student, and what a thought that was. She never imagined herself as the teaching sort.
"Oh hi! I'm Takanashi Misaki, are you Maisie?" She immediately greeted when Maisie entered their booth. "Did you find the place okay?"

Maybe that dessert had been a mistake after all. Nah, it was probably the weight of the flagpole. Regardless of which was the truth Misaki knew what she'd choose to believe. This wasn't ideal. Racking her brain for what to do her eyes scanned the area to figure something out. As she cast a glance back Misaki gulped. Darn, Umbrae sure held a grudge.
Desperate times called for desperate measures. Misaki had no idea whether it'd work but without the vibrational force of her phonic energy the slope should be less smooth.
"Catch me when I come back up!" Misaki yelled and rolled off Michael before she could lose her courage. They were pretty close to the target but this could make or break things. If they lost their lead they'd be swarmed. In free fall like a skydiver without a parachute both of Misaki's hands gripped the top of the flagpole before she jammed it down as hard as she could.
The side of the slope cracked under the impact, shards of material flying as the bottom of the pole wedged itself a quarter of an inch in. It would have to be enough. Leveraging her weight Misaki swung forward causing the pole to bend and bend until...
All at once the kinetic energy was unleashed, the flagpole straightening once more to catapult her up like a true pole vaulter. Well, she made sure to take said pole with her unlike a real one but that was beside the point. The important part was that the upwards momentum she'd generated should be enough to get them all the way up to the tiles. From there it'd be smooth sailing. She still remembered which were safe to walk on and they'd conquered the first challenge with ease before, there was no reason she couldn't do so again. Just a bit more and they'd be home free.

There was a lot of science about what made a punch work. Throughout history many sports from ancient pugilism and before all the way to modern day boxing had improved upon the same concepts time and time again. Boxing gloves were one such notable achievement that was added to the arsenal, one with ups and downs when it came to safety but right now as she slammed her fist into the wall as hard as she could Misaki was intimately aware as to why they were created.
"Ffffuuuuuuuuuu-"
That smarted. Hissing a swear under her breath she bit her lip and picked her song back up while Jacko tumbled to the ground.
"♫ Gotta rise back up after, the fall ♫
♫ Can't let anyone else face, it all ♫"
Misaki was outmatched. She knew this in her heart of hearts. That was fine though, she didn't need to win. She just had to not lose. Her allies were facing worse than her but she had full faith in them. She'd seen their triumphs firsthand and heard of other ones, so long as she kept Jacko busy they'd persevere. Defeat in detail. That was how they could win this.
"♫ With all that we've got, here and now, you must fight ♫
♫ Throw away all but the moment alright? ♫
♫ Unshackle from pain let it not weigh you down ♫
♫ Can't just sit down and pray, pray, pray ♫"
She didn't trust Jacko's act for even a second. When he came for her she was ready. Well, as ready as she could be with her back to the wall. Her smile could be heard in her voice as she sang. She had full faith in her allies. As she dodged his first blow Misaki attempted to use a phonic energy enhanced backhand to the forearm to unbalance him and a palm strike to the torso to push him a bit back and give her room to maneuver.
Feeling electricity fire through her and almost make her bite her tongue she was glad she'd only briefly made contact with his arm instead of tanking the blow. Things could have been over then and there. Keeping her feet planted firmly Misaki put her heart into her song and kept her voice as steady as she sang while exchanging blows with Jacko. It was a foolish move. There was no way she was winning it. That wasn't what she was counting on though, no, what had set her course of action in stone was what or more precisely who she saw behind Jacko. Ylva. All she had to do was keep Jacko in place long enough for Ylva's attack to land.
"♫ So listen to me now as I'm singing this song ♫
♫ Fight together with me now yeah sing it along ♫
♫ Stay true to your heart now and give it all you got ♫
♫ Even if, all the world, comes crashing, down upon your head ♫"
Even as blood spilled from her mouth Misaki kept singing. Even as her muscles seized from the electricity Misaki struck back. Even as her vision began to grow dark and all the world was reduced to just her and the man in front of her Misaki didn't hesitate.
Trust.
Trust is a strange thing. A feeling that manifests as a certainty, a sureness that what you hold to be true is exactly that. It is a faith held in another that is so strong that it's as if you can see into the future and know exactly what they'll do, when they'll do it and how they'll do it. It's being sure that it'll be done as if you did it with your own two hands.
Real trust isn't just belief. It's like having an extra limb, it's knowing with zero doubt that what you want will be accomplished in the same way that one can lift their hands and clench their fingers to grasp victory themselves.
That is how Misaki knows Jacko will lose here.

Misaki had explored the breadth and width of the internet to widen her musical horizons but this was something else entirely. Not since she'd stumbled upon the ancient song Cold had she heard something this uniquely grating. Right here though she couldn't find it in herself to see the artistry, no, this was an affront in multiple ways.It truly was funny where the mind went when one was freaking the fuck out. That thing was the size of a truck. A TRUCK! Those swords on its shoulders were bigger than her and don't get her started on that tail. But hey, maybe it wasn't as tough as it looked? A girl could dream, right? She put the nauseating sight of the woman being crushed like a melon out of mind. One thing at a time. Taking a deep breath Misaki put on her usual cocksure smile right before Ylva flagged her down. Due to the fact that her quirk usually required the usage of her mouth Misaki wasn't unused to sign language either and while she was certainly no studied practitioner she knew how to get her meaning across.Looking right at Ylva Misaki lifted one finger up and touched it with another to signal 'First', then pointed towards the screaming hero to get her meaning across. With one arm held vertically in front of her she moved her other arm as if the hand was hopping over it to signal 'After' and then pointed at the villainous figure on the wall. Call her a bleeding heart but she wasn't going to let the hero die. With determination in her step she began to hum as she dashed for the mushroom and used it to leap at the screaming figure. It was difficult to find her own rhythm with the blaring music all around and she didn't think following that one was a great idea. That'd leave her open to being disrupted at a crucial moment if the enemy suddenly changed it. "Well, here goes nothing," she said to no one in particular before she began to sing. Putting her all into it Misaki shouted at full volume from the very first word."♫ DO NOT FALL! ♫
♫ Fight and face the fear! ♫"
She channeled her phonic energy to project her voice as strongly as possible, attempting to drown out the 'music' blaring in this place while she threw herself and the hero to the side to avoid the mechanical beast's charge. Landing hard on her shoulder she did her best to keep her voice steady in spite of the impact."♫ STAND UP TALL! ♫
♫ Fight and face the fear!
♫ Wandering hearts, clouds above ♫
♫ Tears begin to fall down ♫ "She wished she could do more. Dragging him to the side Misaki spent just long enough to send an evac request ping through his comms before dashing back into action. "♫ The world's gone dark, light of angels but a mem'ry ♫
♫ Time stands still at the moment of departure ♫
♫ You'll never get, get, never back to life ♫
♫ Wooooe heeey wooe ♫
♫ We carry on through the rain of desperation ♫
♫ Empty words? Nay, action ♫"If she was able to reach it she'd head for the wall and strike it with her full force, the vibrational force of her phonic energy further reducing the friction. With some luck it'd be enough in combination with the frost to dislodge the mastermind from his high horse.
TL;DR:
-Misaki signs back at Ylva that she's getting the injured Pro out of the line of fire first
-Leaps off the mushroom, grabs the hero and tosses herself and him to the side out of the way of the mechanical beast's charge.
-Sings all the while hoping to give the wounded man something else to focus on, a beacon of hope
-IF Misaki is left uninterrupted she'll also strike the frozen wall using her Phonic Energy to further reduce friction through vibration in an attempt to make Jacko fall.

Misaki froze in place and turned red. She didn't know why she'd said it, nor how the thought had even come to mind. Stress and exhaustion did weird things to a person and where normally she'd think things through this time the intrusive thought had won.
When the words came out of her mouth she heard them as if she'd been listening to herself in third person. What was done was done however. All she could hope was that the ground was still fragile enough to swallow her up and remove her from this situation. What she'd said just before played in her mind on repeat, taunting her with the truth that it had happened and that she hadn't just imagined it.
"Two favors? How about your phone number and a date?"

The impact from her landing was much softer than Misaki had been expecting. Which was very good because that last hit had exhausted her phonic energy entirely leaving her with no way to mitigate the impact.
"Tha..." 'Oh no, he's hot.' "Mhm, thanks. Are you alright?" Misaki asked Arc with a worried frown, one that deepened when she gave him a quick look-over. "Do you need a doctor? Uhm, I can call The Gorgon over if you'd like?"
She was fairly sure she hadn't seen this white-haired man amongst the people ferried over by Starling Soul so it might not be an option to bring him back to base. Then again she wasn't exactly up to date with the big picture.
Looking around she cringed and pinged The Gorgon for an extraction. Masao was going to kill her when she saw how banged up Enma was. Well, at least she was still around to be berated. Misaki took one brief glance in the direction of the diamond statue before pushing the thought aside. Dwelling on something like that would have to come later. This raid was far from over and if they didn't keep their heads in the game the death count could increase far, far more. As she pulled the fingers of her shaking left hand open with her right that fact hit very close to home. Having fused to the material while her fist was clenched the burned skin ripped and forced her to swallow down a hiss. She was going to need a trip to The Gorgon herself before she continued on. Misaki could only hope she'd have the time.

Relief flooded through Misaki's veins when she watched the owl fall from the sky. It was short-lived. Her teeth grit and she shielded her face with her arms, the shriek hitting so hard it seemed to physically strike her. She was used to dealing with loud noises and fairly far away from the beast so she was far from out of the fight but her rhythm had been disturbed for sure. Misaki could feel her phonic energy fade entirely at record speed, the 'tank' emptying out and leaving her running on fumes. She could only hope she had a moment to recharge.
"Will do!" Misaki tried to keep as much pep as possible in her voice while replying to Stellar. She couldn't disappoint her mentor after all. Especially not when she was giving it her all too. Her head turned and eyebrow raised at the other person's reply.
"As you command, your majesty." Misaki jokingly replied, the tension she felt fading rapidly with every word the pinkette spoke.
"♫ Fight. Bring the future to the light, take one step and make it right ♫
♫ Just a little push yeah let it guide, over the edge don't let it slide ♫"
Phonic energy began to accumulate once again while she sang yet despite the invigorating chill Misaki distinctly felt like there was a much lower ceiling in what she could accomplish with it. Whether it was the buzz in her ears from the earlier shriek, her energy flagging or the super move taking a heavier toll in action than it did in training she knew not but the specifics didn't matter. All it meant was that she'd have to put in twice as much effort.
"♫ The time has come we must march on, noblesse oblige, go 'til it's done ♫
♫ Form ranks, collide, the day is won ♫"
Leaping back into the fray Misaki seemed to be helped along by the world itself, brief bursts of her phonic energy in combination with the slippery floor allowing her to gain momentum as she almost skated towards the owl, her approach curved at first to approach from an angle and then in a straight line so she'd be perfectly aligned with Stellar's whips when her attack landed.
"♫ There's one moment, just one chance, one instant to advance ♫
♫ Seize the day with pep in your stride, blaze a trail through the night! ♫"
Once she'd gathered enough momentum and energy Misaki flew towards the owl like a cannonball, knees bent and ready to kick off with the full force of her efforts. She'd aimed for the area just above the beast's legs, low enough that the pinkette would have a clear shot above her and just in the right spot to shift the direction of the sliding foe. Right before she made impact Misaki extended a hand towards Arc. With some luck the recoil from her strike would be enough to carry them both away from the owl.
"♫ Carry on, never fall, here we stand, HEAR! OUR! CAAALLL!!!♫ "
Misaki's double flying kick landed with devastating force. Groaning from the effort the sheer impact blew her one way and redirected her opponent to the other. Misaki tumbled and slid away -either with or without Arc depending on whether he took her hand- just as Mira's railgun shot landed and sent the owl careening into the hole through everyone's combined efforts. She wasn't fully aware of to the rest of the plan but she trusted her seniors. Misaki had done her part, all that was left now was the finale. ” |

Misaki's eyes gleamed when she noticed what Michael had gotten up to. That was just what they needed. Instinctively she ducked her head and watched as a blunted spike of shadowy hair passed through the place her head had been moments before. That was close, if she hadn't known her opponent's tendencies she would've been in trouble there.
Twirling the flag behind her like a baton Misaki did her best to delay the woman's next attack by adding an unexpected element into the mix.
What would happen if the flag was destroyed?
She didn't know and she was quite sure Aqua Umbrae didn't either. Trying to think before acting was bound to slow her actions just long enough for Misaki to reach Michael.
"I'm here!" She shouted a moment before she made impact to give a slight bit of advance warning. The flag fluttered behind her as she put a hand on his shoulder, wrapped his legs around his torso and then shifted that same arm to hold tight as well. "Now!"
Any hesitation would result in their defeat. Misaki had no illusions about that. A hand reached out from the shadow of the waving flag, nearly making contact with the flagpole. Just as its fingertips would have brushed against it they were off, the long-haired woman expelled from the shadows as they abruptly vanished.

Misaki is a bundle of energy. Lighting up the room with her very presence and having an almost gravitational pull she is rarely anything but the center of attention. Combined with enough humility to be pleasant to be around Misaki navigates social circles with expertise and skill. She is firmly of the opinion that reaching highs is done by pulling others up along with you to reach greater heights, not by pushing them down to look better by comparison.
She greatly enjoys watching movies, especially with friends, and tends to prefer action, comedy and romance when it comes to their genres. Sappy romcoms are a guilty pleasure of hers, often causing her to daydream of all manner of possible futures with a goofy smile on her face.

Misaki has shoulder length brown hair and bright yellow eyes full of determination. Tall and slender her posture ensures she always comes across as the very picture of confidence. Her tendency to wear bright yellows, oranges and browns often cause her to be the center of attention, lighting up the room whenever she is present.

From a young age Takanashi Misaki was fascinated by those that were the center of attention. Idols, heroes, actors and more. All of them seemed to have something about them that made them special. Misaki wanted nothing more than to be one of them. When her quirk manifested while she was cheerily singing a tune Misaki caught a glimpse of the road ahead and made a decision. One day she too would stand atop the grand stage.
Over the years she's tried many things and managed to excel at most of them whether it be singing, dancing, acting or even martial arts. Utterly full of energy Misaki devoted herself to becoming the best person she could be with every fiber of her being. Chasing challenge after challenge she pursues an ever brighter future and fully intends to bring everyone along. For practice is far from the only thing she devotes her time to. It is when socialising that Misaki feels most alive. Sharing experiences with her friends, meeting new people and enjoying all that life has to offer is one of her deepest wishes and Misaki is nothing if not proactive.
In addition to taking part in commercials and minor movie roles she works part-time as an idol, shining bright atop the big screen and through the radio alike. Despite all the time and energy it takes she never slacks on her studies at UAU. While not the most book smart person Misaki compensates with more effort, putting twice as much into her hero studies as most others. Where she finds the time for all of it one can only wonder.

Additionally cancelling out an attack takes a toll on her, the strain racking up with each move she counters. The stronger the attack she attempts to cancel the worse said strain is. Additionally keeping Ashihara no Nakatsukuni: Endless Waltz going takes a lot of energy causing Misaki to be weary after using it.

Shaking her head in response to Rahul's question Soundwave continued to sing. Until the salamanders were dealt with there was no way she could stop her Waltz and switch to offense.
"♫ Powerless I stare, my form not moving with my care ♫"
Misaki didn't move an inch from where she was standing. It'd been just a hunch at first but it seemed to be paying off. The salamanders were covering a wide area with their fire but from her perspective as the one furthest away from the front when their attack began there was one crucial detail she'd noticed. They'd fired at the largest group first. In between her, Stellar, Helsing and Playboy, not to mention the mass of rabbits being summoned by the latter, their numbers had increased since before her arrival even with Masao's departure.
"♫ Did I give up? No that's not it. I stand firm, look them in the eye ♫"
That first fireball she'd countered had shown her exactly how much phonic energy she needed to use to counter them. Each of the giant attacks that came their way was met with an open palm and dissipated with seeming ease. With each wave of heat that passed over Misaki she found that facade just a little harder to keep up.
"♫ Get rid of 'someone else will do it', reach out and bare your heart ♫"
Seeing Helsing go on the offense alongside Playboy's bunnies Soundwave felt a second wind. She couldn't give up either. Even when Vox's words made a drop of sweat form on her brow and her thoughts go somewhere along the lines of a 'oh shit', albeit in more colorful words, she knew she had to hold out. People were counting on her. Both her fellows and the ones that truly knew what they were doing. Silently she rooted for Vox, Stellar and whoever that hooded person was. If one of those owls turned their gaze on her she'd be screwed.
"♫ To change the path of yesteryear, I stand tall to face this inner feeeeeaaaar ♫"
The Pro Hero's words brought another theory to mind. Maybe it wasn't the amount of people present that decided their aim but how much they'd been using their quirks. If Vox's was more muted at the time then the target made sense too. Her eyes briefly went to the other combatants on the field. Their offense seemed to be working, she just had to be louder and-
A sharp hiss left Misaki's mouth when part of the fire reached her and burned the skin on her hand even through her suit's glove. That was bad. She'd messed up her rhythm due to no longer focusing on the enemy. Her eyes widened in realization. The waltz had been interrupted, there was no way she'd be able to handle the next barrage with the shreds of phonic energy still in her system.
Except, it never came. What took its place however might yet end up being worse. Misaki felt a chill in multiple ways as she looked at the triple threats.
"Ah, we're in trouble."
With all she had left in her Soundwave stood against the gale. Panic, or something else, seemed to have given her power once more where she'd normally have fallen. It didn't prove to be enough. Casting a glance back to see if she'd hit anyone if she got blown back Misaki readied herself to adjust her 'flight path' if needed. Her breath caught in her throat at what she was behind her. The portal that pink-haired figure that touched Stellar's back had come through...
That wasn’t what they’d used. The lapse in concentration fully disrupted her phonic energy and sent her flying back into Stellar’s web. "Thanks, senior!" Misaki replied with a smile that turns into a grimace when she tried to clench her fists and felt the burns again.
They didn't sting nearly as much as her mistake. The lack of real combat experience she had caused a critical lapse of judgement. Getting injured this early into the raid wasn't ideal, especially not with threats this big around. If she had more time maybe she could have headed back to the central area where The Gorgon was waiting to patch people up but she couldn't afford to ditch her allies for even a moment.
Besides, she thought while forcing a strained smile onto her face, she made a promise to Masao to handle things here, didn't she? Soundwave couldn't- wouldn't stop and give in with just this.
"♫ With this hand, I'll reach out and take a hold, shred the past, the future will change its course ♫ "
The machine gun opening fire at the Owl took a weight off her shoulders even as she frowned at the resemblance to Junsuina’s quirk. Were they related? Well then, she especially couldn’t afford to let any more of the owl’s attacks through, Misaki thought with a smile. She’d never hear the end of it.
"♫ Stride forth, gain your wings, find the joy that it brings ♫"
Taking inspiration from the white haired warrior that had gotten tossed back alongside them Soundwave got back in a combat ready pose and put her heart and soul behind her next strike. Wind ruffled her hair as phonic energy fought gale to a draw. Her hands shook from the effort not to mention the pain.
"♫ We are one, this truth I will believe, no matter the hardships it may bring ♫"
Her lungs burned from the exertion as she drew in another breath in between her lines. Kami, she was really giving more than she had right now. Was this the Plus Ultra UAU always talked about? It was like a rose covered in thorns. Truly wonderful but painful to grasp. Dragging up a second wind, no, by now it was a third or a fourth, Soundwave took a step forward.
" ♫ Let us soar, we will reach for the light, no matter what it brings you won't lose your fight, sing here with me ♫"
It intensified the strain even more. There was no way she could match the Owl’s power but if it was just the area here around the teleporter? Yeah, she could keep the way open to either retreat or receive reinforcements. A grimmer thought occurred to her. She’d either succeed or die trying. Her allies were owed that much. No matter what it took she’d keep the teleporter safe as long as possible. The others seemed to have the battle in hand, she’d make sure they had a place to return to whenever it was needed.

Misaki's voice rang out as she raced to the scene at full speed, her full attention taken up by running and singing to prepare her quirk. There was no time to waste, lives were at stake.

Reaching the scene just as the fireball came flying at Masao, Enma and Stellar Misaki dashed in front of them and kicked off. Her arm reared back to charge up a punch as she neared the burning orb.

Her fist lashed out, phonic energy clashing and matching the fire.

Her Super Move served to counter and nullify the blast entirely, letting both it and her phonic energy fizzle out harmlessly. Panting to catch her breath she landed back on her feet in front of them before turning to face the group and Masao in specific.
"Ylva's hurt on the West side. She needs your help. Go, I'll hold these off." Misaki didn't think she needed to clarify further nor did she have the time. There were more threats to deal with.
"Helsing, Stellar, Vox. Leave defense to me, I'll handle it!"
With their full focus on dealing with the foe they'd hopefully be able to make short work of the horde. She couldn't afford to keep an eye on the big picture, not if she was to keep everyone safe. Before her Phonic Energy fully fizzled out Misaki continued singing so she'd be ready to counter as many fireballs as possible that might come their way.
