"And a doctors appointment you shall get!" Kanoho burst through the settling cloud of dust, trusting his intuition only to dodge any incoming retaliation. Surprisingly however, nothing of such awaited him. A runner huh... His face a grimace of concentration he picked up his Kanabo from the ground. It didnt seem to have hit anything, an unusual result of his attack, that could only speak of either the villains durability or quirk. The shout had come from further upwards, the man seemingly fleeing upwards towards the chaos he had caused. The courtroom cannon could feel the hot breath of the flames on his open skin, the rush of a passing train behind him sucking in the dry heat from above. His thoughts still grinding he took up a light sprint again, following his prey upwards and out into the open where he was faced with the full sight of the situation. Right in front of the train stations exit was the winged man, one hand clutching his midriff; Guess my Kanabo did hit its mark after all; the other pointing at the burning building behind him. Upon seeing the devastation Kanoho ground his teeth.
A whole office building burning, multiple company signs on fire, the fire departments red trucks desperately trying to contain the flames with less than stellar results. In the background he could hear the man rambling something, throwing empty words his way with similar effect as the feeble splashes of water the firemen were dumping onto the flames. Kanohos Face contorted further. "You not only resisted an official Hero on duty, but now you also seem to be involved in arson. You WILL stay, otherwise..." The words dissipated midair when their supposed receiver ran off, away from both Kanoho and the burning disaster that had surely been a site of productivity just a while before. "Shit!" Kanoho did a step forward, a quickly suppressed attempt to follow, before he turned around and instead rushed towards the source of the heat; his stomping feet moving almost on autopilot as he tried to assess the damage.
Unlike with people, he had an easy time reading the way the current situation was leaning. The fire had already engulfed multiple stories of the building, red tongue-like flames greedily gasping for air out of broken windows. Given some more time to grow this would surely soon become a serious danger for the entire crossing they were on. At this size, Kanoho wondered why he could not spot at least one other hero at the scene. Midstep he shouted out to the few dozen or so bystanders that were gathering around, phones out and eyes sucking in any bit of drama. "What has happened? Is anyone still inside?!" Some citizens offered him a brief sliver of their attention before reorienting their phones to include him in the picture, and while two of the firemen seemed to shout an answer Kanoho did not manage to make out its exact content. "Shit!" Then military training kicked in, pragmatism that ignored any underlying caution. Storming past the nearest troop of firemen Kanoho lifted his trusty Kanabo and slammed it full force into one of the hydrants within reach, bending and breaking the red metal. Water immediately burst forward in a fountain, some part of it diverted by a firewoman with some sort of supportive quirk towards the nearest part of the buildings base.
The image of the winged man briefly appeared in Kanohos mind, and he doubled his speed, crushing the double door entrance with his shoulders as he gained access to the danger zone. He prayed that the man would be sufficiently injured to not get to far in his attempt to escape. "I wont let you get away that easily..."

"So you want to mock me now too, huh." Kanoho mumbled his thoughts out loud. The young man was now seriously getting on his nerves, each sentence dripping with disrespect and ignorance. Kanoho knew his kind, grown up with to much freedom, utterly convinced of their own heightened self importance. Without any regard for everybody else, the thug was going on and on about his opinion, all the smart things that he had said and Kanoho supposedly hadnt understood. But i understand just fine.
"You are now." Even as Kanoho said the words he took aim at the terminal the man was just about to use. Then he took a deep breath. He didnt stop to wonder why the station seemed weirdly devoid of people, nor did he consider the possibility that his opponent, for clearly he had lied through his teeth in calling himself a "law abiding citizen" just now, could be anything but a villain in hiding. Moments before the other would turn around and face him again, Kanoho released a shout and his kanabo, both flying with the cold empathy of the inanimate towards his target. "Under the authority of the Hero Association, Article 7b, you are to stand down and submit!" The weapon mid air, Kanoho leaned forwards and started into a sprint, his knees immediately complaining as he dashed at the supposed villain.
"Dont you worry, i am doing my job. Whatever you had planned will stop NOW!" The distance to cover was short, and already after a few steps he too noticed noises coming from above ground. Sirens, screams and the distinct odor of burnt plastic tainted the air. Shit. "I knew it." That guy had just smelled like trouble, from the moment Kanoho had looked into his smug locks. That didnt slow him down, but it did make him think. Quirks were unpredictable, but more often than not a quirk that carried a mutation would hint at the powers behind it. The Cannon cursed himself for not paying better attention. In his memories he knew that the man had possessed some kind of wings, but their exact image was blurry. Did he have dragon wings? Or something more mechanical...no. Damn these kids, distracted me from properly observing... Whatever it was, he would have to watch out for fire and flames. His shoulder at the head he stormed into the settling cloud of dust his attack seemed to have created, ready to face consequences and dish out punishment. "Their Life? No. And there is no need for that either." Kanoho waved at the man child in front of him, clearly dismissing his opinion. "I can tell enough from how theyre holding themselves. " Clearly his conversation partner saw himself the savior of misguided youths, possibly, now that Kanoho thought back to how he had behaved, not just a savior, but also a past hooligan himself. His attire surely did not fit that of an upstanding citizen. As the train stopped Kanoho saw the man step up to him, the top of his head barely reaching Kanohos own chin. Like a child before his father, ready to rebel. He barely noticed the youths slinking out the door and into the urban jungle. For a moment he contemplated memorizing their faces and clothes, but even if he had the kind of a memory to accomplish that, it would be impossible to find them in the mass of people that Tokyo was. Knowing their kind however, the Courtroom Cannon was sure they would pop up again in due time. For now, there were bigger fish to fry.
Kanoho stared as the winged man in front of him continued his tirade, a spectacle that he had thought outgrown. Only when the other poked his chest did Kanoho finally start feeling his anger rise. This 20-something brat really thinks himself so wise, dont you? "Your opinion matters little in these matters. You may think that they are somehow redeemable, nothing but a kind word away from becoming model citizen. But you are wrong. You just dont know it yet. And while i have praised the attempt, i see no reason to let you keep to your misguided fantasy." This time it was on Kanoho to rise to his full size before his ideological opponent. He could feel the tension, a rolling boil, just beneath the surface of their discussion. And it gave him a dangerous impression. After all, just like heroes did not need to stay in their official persona all day long; although Kanoho saw little difference in whether he was wearing his "costume" or not; so did villains not need to wave about stolen bags of money and ski masks around when hiding in their midst.
But what they all could not hide, was their conviction. Their biases and, in the case of villains, afflictions. Kanoho screwed up his eyes before, slowly pulling his cape-like kimono out and donning it, following the man that was confronting him so much out of the train. It was better to avoid as many civilians as possible. "See, its people like you" Kanoho spat the word, as he set his kanabaton to rest on the hard floor of the station, the crack of metal hitting resin, underlining it more than any vulgar gesture could have. "These are the reason why heroes should not just oversee such slights. You think yourself above the law and above nature. You say you dont want to be like the machine and in that you became the sand between its gears. Enough of this nonsense discussion now. You will accompany me to the nearest police station and then we can go over what exactly it is, you are doing what you do when you are not following the law. "

Kanoho smiled and nodded as the girlie walked off to take care of his order. Then he relaxed for the first time. The murmur of the other patrons, the quiet rumbling of cars outside and the natural sounds of the environment gave the entire situation something picturesque. For a few deep breaths he could imagine the whole world to be like that, peaceful, calm and in order. People were working, earning their place in the world, as they should, protected by the laws of nature. He opened his eyes again just as the store owner had started to move towards him again. Seeing her carry the plate with a scone and a fancy looking dessert next to it, a little cup in the other hand, he mentally pat himself on the shoulder. THIS. This is what your protecting... This is what we all should be working for, people that respect the system.
At his table she placed down the order along with spreads and necessities for his coffee. Proper table etiquette had never been his strongest suit, especially considering his upbringing, so for a moment he merely stared at the wide range of utensils placed before him. Does it really need three knives? Then the owners words interjected, offering a welcome chance to avoid the embarrassment of picking the wrong knife. "Thank you very much. There is actually a little something, if you dont mind. I am aware, that you are currently working, so feel free to interrupt me if i should trouble you with this." He decided to bring out all of his diplomacy and politeness. "You see, maybe it is obvious, but i am not from around here, from Tokyo... I am however looking for a place to settle down, so i was hoping maybe i could ask you a few questions regarding the surrounding area?"
It felt uncomfortable to him to be this opaque about his true intentions; although he managed to avoid outright lying. Before his thoughts could catch up he could feel the mask already slipping, dropping the attempted masquerade before it even had the chance to yield fruits. "Bear in mind that, while i am not on duty right now, it is a citizens responsibility to answer truthfully. " Following his instinct he immediately pulled out his Hero License, contained in a neat little leather envelope with a clear view at the front. At the bottom of it another card in a similar sleeve swung about, his old police identification, just to really drive the point in. It was always good to establish a clear line of command, even if one was just having a good old conversation. Muse: N/A Notes: N/A Active Laws (Targets): N/A Words:443

" A way to improve on their own?" Kanoho raised a brow. "At this point there is no improvement. They already have been given a chance to redeem..." "Yea, aight, man, whatever. We didnt do anything..." The boy interrupted Kanoho, his tone clearly changed, now that everybody's attention had been placed on them. The other teenagers too seemed to be squirming in their seats and just looking for an opportunity to escape the situation. "Themselves." Kanoho finished his sentence, regarding the generous stranger as if he hadnt even heard the youth. Yet, that didnt stop him from reaching to the side and grabbing on to one of the poles, conveniently blocking off the escape path. "If they are not taught to respect society now, they never will understand; and instead grow up to be a drag or even worse. Villains. Criminals." He spoke with clear emphasis so that all that watched may hear him and nearly spat the last two words. Who ever this outsider was, his childish behaviour would only lead to more troubles down the line.
Kanoho knew better than to have pity on kids like these. If not shaped into obedient and disciplined citizens now, they would surely go down the wrong path. In the background he could hear the other passengers now whispering, clearly divided in their opinion on how to treat the offenders. If only you could see the flaw in your reasoning... But, seeing as he did not have the majority, Kanoho sighed. This was a teachable moment; a good opportunity to impart wisdom and be an idol to both citizens and the younger generation. "Surely you understand that we have laws for a reason. This may seem like a small and irrelevant thing to you now, but from a rotten seed can only sprout a rotten tree. I appreciate your attempt at diplomacy, i really do..." He looked over the rascals still standing before them, though no clearly less confident than they had been just a few moments ago. "And so should they. We would do better with more men like you. But alas, what you surely have in spirit, you lack in farsight. That is correctible. If youd like i could even put in a good word for you at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Force." Muse: N/A Notes: N/A Active Laws (Targets): N/A Words:382

"Oh?" Kanoho sounded equal parts surprised as dismissive. "Apologies if i sounded... rude in that case. " He implied a slight nod before continuing. "Ah, yes, of course. I would like to have the special you mentioned earlier." To have her own store at this age... impressive. Life in the big city sure is different... He rested his baton on a nearby wall, well within reach but not overly obvious, and allowed his thoughts to drift for a few moments. It was days like this that made him genuinely satisfied with being a hero. Normal lives, happening in normal places and under normal rules.
Along with his mind his eyes took leave, wandering freely over decorations and patrons alike. If what the girl said was true and she really did run this place all by herself then he could not help but feel somewhat impressed. Her little cafe was clean, lovely and well designed. Briefly he considered giving her a tip at the end of her service, but decided against it. After all, true pleasure should arise from a job well done. If she was the owner of this place then surely she must also understand that all profits should stem from her own effort and not the clients friendliness.
Absentmindedly he began laying out his route for the remainder of the day, starting with Ueno District. Tokyo was a big big city, and he still had some troubles orienting himself, not the best base to build his new reputation on. If he was going to find out more about the recent events that had taken place here he would need to have a clear picture of where what was going on. He eyed the young store owner again. What a happy coincidence that you would actually be the one in charge here. Muse: N/A Notes: Sorry for the delay Active Laws (Targets): N/A Words:302

Kanoho was just about to reach the little cluster of youngsters when another arrived before him. Under his watchful eyes and basically right in front of him a spindly looking man approached the boys, one hand digging for something in his bag, before revealing the headphones. He sounded as confident as any, and for a moment Kanoho almost assumed him to be part of the gang. People dressed differently here in Tokyo, men looking like boys and women like dolls. The boy Man... Kanoho corrected himself upon hearing the voice, spoke what most other in the train were thinking, and from the corner of his eyes he saw more than just one approving nod from other passengers. Good. But not good enough.
As if he had heard Kanohos thoughts, one of the boys now raised his voice over the, still audible, music. "Huh!? The fuck are you on about?! I aint takin' your second hand!" He wasnt much taller than the winged boy that had spoken before, but clearly seemed to disagree with that assessment, feeling his friends strengthening his back. "Better slink right back..." While he made the offer he had been given sound like a bad trade, Kanoho did not miss him eyeing the headphones as he spoke. Must be more than just "second hand". And while he did not seem to actually raise his hand in the middle of a crowded train, he did just threaten somebody else. Kanoho felt it his duty more than before to step in, midthreat. "Public Disturbance, a minor assault. Threatening a civilian, another one. Add aggravated assault to it and your spending more than just the night behind bars." Turning to the young man with the headphones he continued. "Thank you very much for your intervention, sir. " He didnt let his distaste of the fashion sense show to much. "However, i do not believe you should further enable this behaviour by handing out gifts." Stepping lightly to the side and almost coincidentally between their little group and the doors he eyed the kids, all but asking them to whip up more trouble. Their leader didnt seem to be to intimidated, more annoyed by their presence; nervously glancing from his friends to Kanoho and the stranger. Muse: N/A Notes: N/A Active Laws (Targets): N/A Words:374

Without missing a beat the young woman behind the counter smiled at Kanoho before leading him to an artsy looking table on one side of the cafe. Her casual garb made her almost seem as if she was just one of the patrons in here, accidentally having wound up behind the counter somehow. In his mind Kanoho placed her somewhere in her early twenties perhaps, even though her voice sounded somewhat... older? He frowned lightly but didnt pursue the topic any further, instead slowly lowering himself on the chair presented to him. "Thank you." His eyes grazed briefly over the menu, although he had already made up his mind. The special sounded good, affordable and like an easy choice; even though he did not know what a "strawberry danish" would end up being. He looked up to the girl.
"Your awfully young to be working here all alone, arent'u? Very irresponsible of your superior to leave you by yourself with no additional staff." Not to mention the ever present danger of villains... He finished the sentence in his head. While the établissement had seemed compliant with current regulations it had also looked to small and... niche for any self-respecting villain to actually consider it a target. When he had come in and scanned the room he hadnt noticed any kind of obvious security installation; not that he had actually looked specifically for it. This is just a robbery waiting to happen... Without his conscious decision he grimaced. Already he could feel himself preparing to take this area of Tokyo on the list of districts to watch more closely. This was not the first place he had seen that seemed unprotected, even though this was the first one he actually entered. Might be a good idea to get a feel for the neighborhood too... It had been a busy day. Every day was busy. After all most criminals did not exactly respect breaks or off days, or Kanoho's private time, for that matter. He had found himself surprisingly in the middle of several minor incidents, each trying to use the respective other as bait to escape from the police and the heroes. While none of them were individually big or dangerous the sheer number of villainous individuals had forced the Courtroom Cannon to work together with the local police department to contain the damage. Primarily his damage. What a bunch of lazy bums... both these guys... He conjured the image of the beaten and unconscious thugs to mind. ...as well as the heroes that were supposed to be on duty today. Why do they even bother to wear the mantle of a "hero" if they dont actually appear on scene when something happens?!
He shook his head and grimaced, looking at the back of the head of the police man in front of him. At the moment any cooperation with the police had been riding on his limited fame that he had gained in Yamagata. Former colleagues had since spread through most of Japan, taking his name with them.
When he had found out that amidst this group of officers, somewhere in the middle of Tokyo, some not only knew of him but also strived to live up to his ideal, he had felt a pang of pride. Connecting with the simple man was also a duty of every hero and it boosted the morale even more. After the cleanup of the scene he had offered to treat the officers to a free martial arts course sometime, both to gain their favor and also some possible insight in the Tokyo hero and villain landscape. After quirks had made their appearance not only on the civil side but also on the dark side of society and heroes and villains had begun to spring up in each city, the law had rapidly found its long arm grasping thin air. Regular police officer, even now that many boosted a quirk of some kind themselves, were simply not trained well enough to handle a serious ability powered threat. At least this had seemed to be the case in many rural areas. But what the police forces lacked in firepower they usually made more than up in quantity and a kind of... invisibility that Kanoho knew well to respect. Police gossip was an invaluable resource to him, especially now that he was treading on foreign ground.
Now he was walking down the roads of Tokyo again, his hero uniform, a white montsuki with red accents, tucked away and his baton in his hand and serving as a cane. He knew it would only be a short while before he would have to leave for his next patrol, but even men like Kanoho needed a break occasionally. Out of the corner of his eyes he suddenly spotted an almost antique looking little storefront, all warm fuzzy memories and rainy afternoons. The sound of soft instrumental music could be heard and it didnt seem to a great many regulars at its tables. According to my schedule i should have about... 35 minutes before i have to get to Ueno. I think a small drink is in the books... With a small nod to himself he entered Kyss Café and scanned the inside. None of the other patrons seemed to mind him and the interior seemed pleasant enough. By instinct his eyes searched for signs of broken regulations, water damage or traces of pests but found everything seemingly in order. This place seemed almost to good to be true. Brushing with his hands over his dark suit and retightening his sash he stepped to the counter. "Good day. Might i have a table for one, please?" His voice had the tone of gravel frolocking in a field of flowers, all corners and grinding edges but with an attempt at friendliness.

To some, the calm in the morning before the rush of salary men and your everyday office worker might seem eerie and unfamiliar, an example of a liminal space even, especially in a town such as Tokyo, but to Kanoho it seemed like the quiet before the storm. A somber time of consideration that reminded him of his hometown. His steps echoed over the hard floor, a crisp sound, as if by freshly shined loafers on clean resin, every now and then interrupted by the sound of his baton hitting the same floor as he was using it as a walking stick. The tall man knew that the peace would only last for a short while, for the train he was about to catch was most likely going to be packed with all the other commuters from this side of town. He sighed.
"That is the problem with this city people 'ere... " He stopped himself before he could go on to ramble by himself. It didnt suit a man of his age and position to mindlessly talk to himself. That was an activity reserved for those either feeble of mind or decrepid. And im neither of these. Despite this he couldnt help but produce an affirming grunt which he barely noticed. Already he could spot a few singular individuals that were moving with the kind of single mindedness that spoke of routine and a disregard for everything around them as they just tried to get through the day. In Tokyo quirks had quickly become an everyday occurrence, no more special than differently colored hair or piercings, and yet, Kanoho had grown up in a different time and a different place of Japan and to see this many quirk user on one place still gave him a bad feeling. Nothing good came out of the general populace having the ability to level a building or maim a bunch of passerby just by having a bad day.
His eyes carefully scanned the thin crowd, before entering the train that had just finally arrived. Kanoho had barely noticed himself reaching the station; to many sensations still seemed to occupy his mind. One of them in particular caught his eyes, and more annoyingly, his ears. As he was just settling in his spot in the train, not an easy task for a big man such as he was, he heard the sound of music blasting from the other side of the cabin. From the glances of some of the other passengers it was not just him being annoyed by this, although that didnt technically matter when the law was involved. His eyes narrowed on a group of teenagers that had took over a corner and were intently staring at the screen of a little smartphone; the source of the incoming noise complaint.
"Tch!" Kanoho smoothed the new creases on his dark navy suit, righted his tie and the yellow sash around his waist and started plowing his way through the other occupants of the train. His initial desire was to shout at the youths, drown out their annoyance by sheer power of his voice, but he knew that this would ruin the effect his sudden appearance before them would have. Instead he gritted his teeth and continued pushing. You think the world revolves around you!? This misbegotten music of yours, nobody wants to hear that right now!

Kanoho's personality, formed by years of duty and hardship, can best be approximated by taking The Rolling Stones, taking away all music and turning them literal. His face is stuck in a perpetual frown, watching a world full of lawlessness and criminality from behind the eyes of a man that would rather gargle a bucket of spiders than yield. While this may sound off putting to some, it is also occasionally considered one of his more endearing traits, as the media likes to paint him in all the colors of a patriotic samurai, facing the hardship of the villainous front so that the everyday citizen doesnt have to. Many rural police officer especially regard him as a prime example for how hard work and dedication can bring a man to the top, thanks to his past amidst them. And while he isnt necessarily friendly or overly compassionate towards the innocent, some have drawn comparison between him and a fatherly figure. His bullish nature only intensifies when faced with criminality or the abuse of quirks. In his worldview, there exists only black and white, good or evil and he will come down with all the force of a cannonball (hence his name) to stop self-perceived injustice from happening. In doing so he will accept collateral damage, but not injury to innocent bystanders. At the same time however, he is not known for giving away the title of "innocent bystander" easily or freely, and as such it is usually recommended to quickly leave the scene once the Courtroom Cannon arrives, lest one wants to be faced with charges of trespassing, lollygagging or the obstruction of law.

[attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]HISTORY: Kanoho was born during the year 2056 in a rural part of Japan, bordering the city of Yamagata, as the younger of two brothers. Both of his parents worked at the Yamagata Police Agency, leaving him and his brother mostly in the care of a local youth center. Like every other child that did not grow up with the luxury of gaming centers or manga cafes in their neighborhood they spend most of their time studying. Math, History, Chemistry, Languages all were a daily part of Kanohos childhood, leaving only the bare minimum to cause mischief with his brother. The remainder of their time was spent under the tutelage of their father, a strict but generally kind man. His lessons mostly concerned themselves with the basics of self defense, public laws and how to be a "good man"; namely by following the rules, standing up for oneself and others and not be afraid to find your own path in life.
When meta abilities first started gaining attention amongst the general population, Kanohos initially quiet and calm childhood was rapidly thrown off track, as he developed his own quirk around his eight birthday. His father, for fear of him "infecting" his brother soon began isolating Kanoho. When even the local hospital, in whose care Kanoho had been given at the beginning, saw now way of reverting his condition, and more and more younger children started showing signs of similar changes, the fear in his father turned a darker shade. Soon he began imposing more and more limitations on his son. He was not allowed to linger at school after classes, not allowed to invite or visit friends, not allowed to go outside unaccompanied.
Time passed and his fathers leash tightened like a noose around Kanohos neck. Long gone where the days where he would enjoy his studies and spend quality time with his brother. Despite not having developed a quirk of his own, their fathers strictness had by now too reached Kanohos brother. Not permitted to partake in the usual time of leisure as other teens, he spent almost his entire time in his room, studying for upcoming exams and being educated by his parental captor. It was by sheer coincidence that Kanohos life changed, when he witnessed a group of youngsters race past their house on the way into nature. The teenager were blasting loud music and seemed to be enjoying their life loudly, a fact that would have surely angered Kanohos father, had he been awake to see the spectacle. Kanoho however, merely realizing the obvious, found a glimmer of hope in the sight. It didnt take long for him to take up his courage and sneak out of the house at night for the first, but not last, time.
This first night he didnt dare go out more than a few blocks; mostly to see if he could, but with every passing month he became braver. Soon he found himself leaving his home regularly during quiet nights and began skipping school too in an attempt to regain some of his former freedom. What began as a simple way of escaping his fathers ire, over time turned into a means to vent. As he met more and more "delinquents", as his father would have called them, he came to understand that most of them had not been treated this harshly by their family. They broke the rules not because they had to, but because they could, their rebellion a mere act of chance and opportunity and not necessity. And as with many others before him, Kanoho felt the spirit of his paternal upbringing reaching out for him. Them breaking the rules for fun seemed too much like an inexcusable offense to him. The first time he assaulted another teenager was when he spotted a group of young boys, trying to break into one of the few local supermarkets to get snacks and cheap booze. When a fight arose it became clear that none of them had a chance against the quirked up youth. With this Kanoho finally felt free again. Of course it didnt take long for his father to put one and one together and realize that his own son was the mysterious assailant that kept beating up the other village boys. For the first time outside of traditional training, Kanoho found himself on the receiving end as his father tried to beat some sense into him. From there on things escalated as both tried to enforce their respective rules; Kanohos father on him and Kanoho on anyone else he met. His teachers had long learned to stay away from him as he was continuously growing bigger and broader and more aggressive. Having established himself as the defacto leader of the local thugs ment he was free to operate however he saw fit and Kanoho made full use of this, passing on the bullying he had to endure at home to any one within reach. For a whole year things got tenser and tenser every day, until the metaphorical string of fate finally grew taut and snapped, and with it the patience of Kanohos father. He confronted his youngest and a heated conversation turned soon into a full argument, which then turned into a one-sided brawl. Finally, Kanoho stopped holding back and with a strong enhanced strike he threw his father backwards, straight into the door that led into his brothers room. The frame cracked, sending his father tumbling backwards through the door and into the darkness behind.
The next day, things had changed. His father didnt impose any rules on him, didnt even bother to look his way, which suited Kanoho just fine. He let off steam in town, breathing both in anticipation as well as relief. Time passed, and after a few weeks Kanoho had already forgotten their little altercation. This saw a sudden end, when one day a group of big and brawny men in army colored suits appeared before the families house. Kanoho, who had just come back from a drinking binge with some of his friends, barely bothered to register their presence, as they approached his father in the living room. They quickly got his attention when two of them barged into his room, each holding a mancatcher and a menacing grimace. Despite his best attempts Kanoho found himself pinned two the floor in moments. Under his parents determined and teary eyes the men dressed him in a black gown that allowed for limited movement and led him into a large truck outside. It was only later that Kanoho found out about his fathers final solution.
Leaving his brother and his friends behind, Kanoho was introduced into a regional military boarding school that promised worried parents to take great care in handling their differently-abled offspring and return them as disciplined and mature individuals, ready to fit back into society. What they didnt tell parents was the exactly process through which this was to be accomplished. A prison like system of rules and regulations greeted the young Kanoho when he arrived at the schools gates, still bound. His hair was shaved, his clothing confiscated and exchanged for a durable and simple uniform and his every movement watched by armed guards. By day he was expected to perform in school, minus all the niceties. The same material as before but packed into information-dense tabs of one hour each, ment to be taken dry and uninspiring, with teachers that might as well be straight from the frontlines. During off times a strict schedule of physical exercise and weapons training awaited him, ment to exhaust him to the point of inability to use his quirk. Breaking of the rules resulted in corporeal punishment and prolonged physical exercise. The first weeks were hell, as Kanoho tried to escape or otherwise revolt against the controlling environment almost daily, but a quick reminder of the difference in strength between an soldier and a young adult dulled his rebellious spirit soon. Bruised and battered he had no other choice than to accept his fate and roll with the punches. His will was finally broken when his parents came to visit him some time after, a bleak affair, mostly for appearances and ended with Kanoho wailing and screaming at his parents to let him out. Unbeknownst to them, this day, more than any other, left a mark on Kanoho when his father told him, that it was his own fault that he had to be kept in the boarding school. After all, HE was the one, that had broken the rules, whereas the school staff was free to act how they saw fit, as they were the ones enforcing the rules. Feeling abandoned by his parents Kanoho sank back into social isolation after this, keeping away from the other students for several weeks before his spirits slowly returned.
Teenager are adaptable if nothing else, and so he soon learned to draw whatever entertainment he could from his new world. Using his quirk to overcome the harsh physicality of the boarding school, he threw himself fully into the system. To any outside spectator it mustve seemed like the system was working as Kanoho became more controlled and even channeled his past misbehaviour into reprimanding younger children during class for overstepping boundaries. After a while it seemed like nothing had changed compared to how he had been before attending the military school. Goons and thugs swarmed to him, only to be whipped into a shape that mirrored the vision of the school council, and where Kanoho had been met with violence and punishment before he was now praised as one of the most successful residents of the school. Six years he stayed at the establishment, slowly working his way up amonst its involuntary recruits. Initially his family kept visiting him every now and then, but after the second year even this brief contact stopped. Kanoho didnt mind. His opinion changed when he was released from his school and sent back home, where broken walls and a lonely door, barely hanging in its frame was all that was left. It turned out that roughly two years after his admittance a fight between a major criminal group and the local police force had escalated when the gang began employing quirked youths as enforcer. During that conflict his father had tried to reason with some of the teenagers, even going so far as to offer shelter and support from their overseers, but instead of resolving the situation he had merely managed to paint himself as the prime target. Overnight the gang struck, ambushing him at his own home, and leaving nothing but ruins. When Kanoho was informed of this he didnt know how to react. He had been given a simple one bedroom apartment, financed by his fathers colleagues, where he stayed by himself for a week. When he finally emerged he had made up his mind. His application to join the police was a first step to rectify the flaws he saw in society. Before long he had made a name for himself, a competent young officer stepping into the footprints of his deceased father.
At a time when more and more criminals employed their powers to their own benefit, every quirk empowered member of the police was considered of great merit. Kanoho was quickly placed into a special troop with other officers with meta abilities; however they quickly realized that with the current rules in place they were little more than meat shields for the unpowered officers and many rulings that would be used to incarcerate criminals were just as easily abused to stifle their own progression. And yet Kanoho persisted for several years. His strict military background, direct personality and adherence to the rules, made it hard for any superior to actively act against him. Only when he saw an opportunity to gain a form of independence did the troubled young man, that he had become, leave active duty. Traveling to Tokyo in 2075 he partook in one of the earliest classes of professional heroism at the U.A. University. Older and more experienced than many others in his class he found it easy to keep up with the curriculum, but hard to adapt to the fluid lessons and individualistic rules. Ultimately he left the university during his third year and returned back to Yamagata, where he finished his education at a government-funded Hero course. At this point Kanoho began operating under the Heroname "Courtroom Cannon", a moniker that originated from the two different ways that his name could be written as. Known for his violent treatment of villains and very direct approach to "diplomacy" has given him a sort of infamy amongst the rural population; with older citizens often supporting his no-nonsense type of law enforcement.
Would it not have been for a coincidental news story that caught his eye a few months back, he would have most likely stayed in Yamagata for all his life. Fate however had other plans. As it was, he happened to pass by a small store after a mission and found his eyes roaming the newspaper articles where he noticed a familiar looking face. The story mentioned a rise in villains throughout Japan, originating from Tokyo, and used a big attention catching image on its front page. A photograph of a group of heroes battling some villains, and in the background a face that looked an awful lot like his brother. Now the Courtroom Cannon has transferred to Tokyo, to make sure that this story ends right before it can begin. [attr="class","body"] [attr="class","header2"]ITEMS Kanabaton: Commissioned during some of his later years, and used throughout his time as both a police officer and an active hero. A roughly 1.4m long Kanabo with an additional handle on the side, giving it a similar shape to an elongated baton. Kanoho doesnt hold any strong personal feelings for it and will simply commission a new one should the old one get broken, dented or lost. Military Saber: A simple military saber, gifted to Kanoho after leaving the military boarding school he attended. Has some emotional value to him, but is rarely used for anything other than show.

These laws can either have a clear end point, bestowing a momentary buff when fulfilled, or be ongoing and bestow buffs throughout these duration. Debuffs are applied when laws are broken. Laws can affect either solely himself or himself AND another target. This quirk allows Kanoho to formulate rules by stating "The law says:..." followed by a particular prohibition. Rules can be of either of two kinds, with a clear limit, for example "The law says, i mustnt touch water for the next 5 minutes." thus providing him with a momentary burst of energy at the end of the duration or with a lack of a clear limit, for example "The law says, i mustnt say any swearwords until the next time someone calls me by my hero name." giving him an ongoing (albeit lesser) buff until the rule runs out.
He can uphold 2 laws at all times. Breaking any rule before its timer runs out punishes Kanoho with a debuff that lasts either a fixed amount of time or starts strong and then peters out respectively. (ranging from maximum to flavor at one rank per quirk tier, albeit never turning nonexistent)
(Buffs/Debuffs can target STRENGTH or SPEED)
The direct effect of his quirk is bound by three rules: a) Him stating a law only activates his quirk, if at least one other person hears him speak. Mental or isolated activation is not possible. b) The intensity of the reward (NOT the punishment though) is dependent on the difficulty of the law - the harder the law is to uphold, the higher the potential reward (at one rank per quirk tier from zero/flavor to the maximum) This includes the amount of people witnessing the creation of the rule. Difficulty is judged by the subconsciousness of the target. c) Only one Buff/Debuff may be active on a person at all times. Breaking or successfully upholding another law will overwrite the most recent Stat-change gained by Lawbreaker.
The same power can also be applied to one additional other person, always putting Kanoho and his target under the same law. All rules that govern his quirk also affect his target independently from him meaning that a law can be both hard to uphold for him AND easy to uphold for his target or vice-versa, customizing the benefit gained from upholding it (but not the punishment).
(FOR CLARIFICATION: AS THIS PART IS DEPENDENT ON THE TARGETS PSYCHE, I CONSIDER GAINING A DEBUFF/BUFF AT THE SAME TIME AS KANOHO A OOC VOLUNTARY ACTION, NOT A RULE)
QUIRK DRAWBACKS:
Despite its seemingly complex explanation, Lawbreaker is a simple quirk with simple drawbacks. Like any other quirk that grants temporary physical enhancements, Kanoho always risks injuring himself when he employs heightened speed or strength.
Some of the most obvious flaws however, come with the job(quirk) description. Lawbreaker lives and dies by Kanohos ability to not only formulate reasonable laws but also uphold them. Breaking a law can easily make or break a conflict, and once a law is phrased it can not be changed until either upheld or broken, limiting Kanohos options to adapt on the fly greatly.
Additionally, Kanoho is only capable of setting up two rules in total.
All of this can become an additional problem when he targets another, as a rule can greatly weaken him while strengthening his opponent, possibly turning a very one sided fight around. Since each law is subject to its target subconsciousness there is little way for Kanoho to anticipate the precise way it will go, unless he is willing to also bind himself to "simple" rules.
Should he cancel his debuffs by overwriting them with a buffing rule Kanoho will incur a penalty, thus inflicting damage equal to a strike of his own strength level to himself.
And, last but not least, his quirk needs to be witnessed by other people to actually take any effect. Targeting another with it requires that person specifically to hear the law being made as well.

A necessary skill set for any military unit, Shinkakuto-Jutsu is the military martial art of the Japanese police force. Adapted to modern use against quirk users it employs a basis of strikes and kicks, putting emphasis on joint-control with added techniques for the use of baton, sword and pistol. While not strictly necessary, it also includes armor techniques that depend on the protective gear of the user. Its main aspect however is the emphasis on quirked opponents, which are handled with a specific array of tactics specialized in targeting the senses, which are thought to be mostly uniform or at least present across all new meta humans. SKILL NAME: Engineering SKILL RANK: C SKILL DESCRIPTION:
As part of his education as a police officer came a course in electronics and engineering, designed to give a foothold against the ever rising number of villains that employ gadgets, tools and mechanized fabrications. While it is not enough to build ones own devices from the ground up it is enough to understand circuitry, the most common materials used and allows to learn more on the basis of this.
SKILL NAME: Kyujutsu SKILL RANK: C- SKILL DESCRIPTION:
The traditional art of Japanese archery. This involves both historical knowledge, meditative techniques to calm and sharpen ones mind and how to build and care for your own bow. Contrary to many other bow arts Kyujutsu involves skills on how to use a bow while fully armored, due to its past as a tool in the samurai tool kit.
Outside of his heroic duties Kanoho enjoys all the same qualities of life as any regular person too.
