The exercise was well underway now, all over the increasingly tilting ship the hopeful future hero students were getting to work, searching the ship, finding civilians, sending to their respective rescue boats, doing the best that they could with what they knew and making undeniable progress in the process. But, that was just it, wasn't it? The best that they could with what they knew. What they didn't know, of course, was that they had just reached the end of their first timed checkpoint, meaning that they were due for escalation. In this case, the appearance of a villain. "Alright, Banquet, time for your introduction to the event. Banquet, you're up."Somewhere in the depths of the ship, deep down in the pits of the cargo hold, a dark-haired figure was finishing up his cigarette, tossing his smoke down and stomping it out as soon as the alert hit the small communicator in his ear. Digging his hands into his pockets, the gangly figure would let a lazy smile spread across his face, taking a look at the small wrist-mounted display that he had been given, seeing the numerous students moving all about up on deck. Right, let's see here... "Goooot it..." A sleepy, drawn-out voice drawled. "Let's give the young blood a bit o' a scare, shan't we?"Right, so let's see... The young man thought to himself, letting his head lull forward as his back began to shift and morph. Harihari-nabe for the size, and takoyaki for the appendages... Pro Hero "Banquet"
A B-lister hero and one of the trusted industry professionals hired in to play the part of a villain for tonight's exam. Laid-back and welcoming, but also lazy to a fault, Banquet rarely puts in the effort to engage himself in higher-stake heroic bids or furthering his career, leaving him as someone who is talented but complacent, unlikely to ever make it past third-page news and playing parts such as this one where a trained hero presence is required. His quirk, Manifest, allows him to shapeshift to have his body take on attributes and qualities of things that he has recently eaten. For the purposes of this exercise, he enjoyed a large buffet of all kinds of seafood before the exam began.
Up on deck, the rescue efforts were brought to a pause, interrupted by the sudden creaking of metal and new, disconcerting shifts in the water. The very ship itself seemed to shake and groan, as something large was now shifting its weight down below, and then- Thoom! Frothing water shot up into the air as a massive tentacle, like something belonging to a Kraken of old myth, erupted by the ship's side, as long as the ship itself and thick enough for several people to wrap their arms around without letting their fingers touch. The towering limb waved from side to side, just for long enough to be seen and decidedly freak out some of the students-to-be on the ship, before it slammed down, not hitting anyone but crashing into the deck with enough force to make the whole thing shake. And then, it began to wrap itself around the entire vessel... Metal creaked, and the ship slowly rolled sideways, the deck beginning to lean in a dangerous, diagonal slope. With screaming civilians sliding along the tilting ship and the hull risking to break from the pressure of this tentacle, action needed to be taken, and it needed to be taken quick. What will you do, heroes?

The Flood Zone was in a state of bedlam. Set up in such a way to create crashing waves and whipping winds throughout the maritime exercise site, the supposed "deep lake" that was generally used for water exercises was now far more comparable to that of a storm at sea. Dark, cold water and foam shot up into the air around the intended site for the particular entrance exam of the evening - a large cruise ship, or at the very least a simile of one, already tilting dangerously with the worrying creaks and groans of strained metal. Lifeboats were a hopeless endeavor, for this was not a regular storm capsizing this ship, but it was a villain attack - weather and hostile waters alike brought forth by the use of dangerous criminal quirks. No, the only suitable response to a situation such as this was the interventions of heroes. Or at the very least that was the scenario that the to-be students of this particular exam had been given. The future heroes had been sent in to "arrive" at different set points of this precarious cruise ship, and the rules had been made quite clear - this was a crisis situation. With fatally dangerous waters and a ship at the danger of sinking at any moment, the many civilian guests and crew members of the ship itself had to be rescued, moved from the sinking cruise rife with villain activity and to one of the Hero Association boats surrounding the ship itself at a moderate distance. Every civilian taken from the cruise ship and onto one of those boats was, for the purposes of this exercise, considered a "rescue", rescues being worth points for exam purposes. More critically however, this ship also carried a handful of villains upon it, dangerous criminals who were responsible for this dire situation to begin with. The exercise did not end until all villains had been subdued, each villain defeat also worth a certain amount of points. The specific point values of defeating villains compared to rescuing civilians had not been specified to the students - it was a matter of allowing them to prioritize and make decisions on their own. Finally, the exercise was timed - at set intervals, the length of which were unknown to the students, this simulated ship would continue to get more and more precarious. It would continue to sink and deteriorate, sections would be flooded with water, and things would get so much more difficult to manage. This exam was a test in a hero's ability to prioritize and to manage their time - weighing the values of rescuing individual civilians versus stopping the cause of the crisis situation, what had to be done in what order and how to adapt to a rapidly escalating situation. Good luck heroes-to-be, and try not to drown! Sebastian Sinclaire Sada Zenkai Hatake
