With all that had happened, Johanna was feeling the burn more than she had ever felt. And if she would be honest to everyone in attendance, she was practically out of commission and all but running on fumes. The rain soaked through, all the weight she had been carrying on/off for the past hours had done a number on her muscles and she’d totally need a big time yoga session after this to work out the stiffness. But as the villain might wanted to say the show must go on, and she wasn’t going to just bow out before the final curtain call. ”Easy there, you assbutt.” she’d grit through her exhaustion. Any sane person would try to chase the vehicle, but in all the chaos she had put herself right in between the van and safety. And as she used every last bit of energy left in her system, she collected all the metal around her to create a barrier around herself and the entirety of the road surrounding her. She’d be immovable, utterly and completely unable to dodge whatever was coming. But she was going to expect her powers to pull her through, the sheer mass of metal to literally figuratively stonewall (or metalwall) any last attempt to escape justice. ”No running away from this fourth wall!” she called out.
Farrin, Miroru | Will the villain try to go through her, or veer themselves off into the unknown for the other heroes to take them… Find out on the next episode!

”Some breeders are honestly the worst, really.” she’d huff a little as she still impressed a quick bout of first aid upon her new cat-loving friend. There were plenty of nice ones she had met, but some simply saw the cats as breeding stock to sell and use up like they were worth nothing, at it made her really mad to think about innocent cats being treated without the love and devotion all of them deserved. If those breeders were such asses about it, there were plenty of good people that could treat their cats a thousand times better. Hearing the lady question whether or not working with cats is part of her hero work, she looked up with a slight blush on her cheek. ”Oh, uh… Well no, I just really like cats… really.” she’d stammer as an answer. ”If I wasn’t able to be a hero, I’d probably have become a veterinarian or some such. And I figure, being a hero isn’t mutually exclusive with being a friend to all cats, right?” she’d remark with a warm smile as she put the finishing touches upon dealing with the scratches on the lady’s hand. ”Well, unless it was like an evil giant megacat that wants to destroy Tokyo! Like Godzilla, or Purrzilla if you will!” she’d muse, her head immediately lost in a fluffy cloud of kittens again.

Despite the boy’s attempts at warning her about getting too eager about facing his quirk, any type of cold and cool mention of their quirk being so dangerous that it could straight up kill Johanna would only stoke the fire inside of her more. She wanted to see what they were working with, more so than ever now. ”That sounds gnarly, but that’s why we’re here, right? To figure out how to use our awesome quirks without turning people into spacedust?” she grinned as she poked through any sort of darkness and kept everything as light as a feather. Leo definitely had something to hide that they didn’t want to share, and she could respect that it was probably not kittens and rainbows either, but she was a natural positive person regardless of how dark the room got. Any vague attempts at getting Johanna out of their hair also fell on deaf ears, and what they had to say only furthermore sounded like both an invitation and a challenge. ”Well, since you’re not able to do your normal routine, then we can always just have a short spar, right?” she’d propose, probably making the wrong suggestion. But before they could answer with a yes or no, Johanna would already be taking her distance and armour up. Making sure to not take too much metal from her surroundings, lest she’d get scolded (again) about unwitting vandalism of school property, but still enough to take a hell of a hit to the chest. They might be too stupid to not avoid conflict, but weren’t as stupid as to ignore a potential threat to her own safety. ”You wanna do some light fighting, or just go straight to throwing our haymakers?” she called out, with way too much eagerness than was warranted. There were a few teachers present, and if she took any attempt at looking at them, she’d probably notice them being primed to jump in the first moment things went south…

”Well, I would rather want to show you, but I doubt the lunch ladies will appreciate it if I showed off its special feature in here.” she grinned with a slightly devilish smile. It was a big one, and definitely not one for the faint of heart. So casually she pointed to the exit so that they could go outside, and she made sure to nab a granola bar off Elijah’s plate before they left. A little payment for now, because all that engineering and inventing had worked up a heck of an appetite. ”So well, the best way I can describe the little secret in your fancy new arm as… “Absolutely En Fuego.”” she explained, being as vague as possible. She took a bite from the bar, but kept part of it from being victimized by her ever voracious appetite. Once they were outside, she would hop back a few paces before raising her throwing arm. She was no softball champion, but she could probably hit this shot. ”Okay, clench your fist and then whip your elbow backwards!”[/font[ she’d tell him, revealing the way to activate the fancy secret.
And just as he would do so, she’d use her strength to throw half the granola bar straight at Elijah, in the hopes that he would somehow figure out how to use his new tool…
…One of those trial by fire tricks… Literally.

”Man, I am like… super stoked just to see this bad boy up close.” she’d exclaim excitedly. ”I’ve been working with mechanics and engineering since I was like eight, but this stuff is well beyond even my own imagination or skill level!” she praised and gushed. It was part of the reason why she had gone with the hero studies rather than support studies. Even if her father had somewhat hoped that she had gone with the latter. She was a do-er, and preferred to get her hands dirty in the trenches than sit in a lab. She lacked the patience her father had, and neither had the finesse to think about the finer things. Her gear was practical at all times, but with no flourishes of finer talent that was evident in every invention in the room she was standing at. ”Oh right, I’m Johanna!” she’d say with a bright smile. She had honestly sucked in all the information Zahra had shared with her, and the name was mega cool too. She was eager to see it in action, but would probably have to wait for such an honour. ”So, what do you need me for? Like I know engineering, but well… I am about as subtle as a hammer in a toolshed.” she said, downplaying her own skills a bit.

”Oh man, tell me about it. I actually busted a few ribs during the practical!” she’d regale as she let out a deep breath. It had been a while, but the exam had properly kicked her ass something fierce. But if anything it had been a lesson in that everything afterwards would only be harder, and that if she couldn’t take a few lumps facing off against a bunch of drones, then she shouldn’t be a hero anyways! ”We had to save a bunch of civilians from criminals and some nasty monsters during a crazy storm, it was… well… super crazy!” she exclaimed as she further explained her story. She hadn’t heard anybody else’s experience other than her own and the two students that she had done the exams with. So she was somewhat eager to hear other people’s experiences. ”What about you? Let me guess, one of those firebug villains who tried to set Shibuya on fire!” she pondered with an eager smile.

”I know right?!” she exclaimed in exasperation as Hyo showed his confusion as to how he was only the first one to arrive. ”It’s honestly mindboggling that nobody wants to share in the appreciation of our feline friends!” she added thoughtfully. Then they asked about what they should be doing, and for a second Johanna herself was kind of dumbfounded by the question… ”Well of course I know what we should be doing…” she’d fall silent as she tried to think up an answer. Letting a few seconds fall, she awkwardly scratched the back of her head. ”I might not have thought that deeply on it either when I decided to start a cat club…” she answered with an awkward laugh. So she had done this on a complete and utter whim, with no plan of attack or proof of concept, just one crazy cat lady that wanted to share her appreciation of cats with the world, and starting with U.A. before maybe eventually taking over the world. Well, not take over, that would be kind of evil… But at least form a worldwide society aimed at being obsessed with cats. ”Well, I guess we could start with maybe going out and finding some cats to study?” she’d finally pose as a possibility.

Letting out a laboured sigh, Johanna would welcome the knowledge that the active dangers were averted. And with such a drop in adrenaline would come her mind flooding with all the little niggles and bumps that she had sucked up in the past fifteen minutes. ”I’m… probably glad that I don’t have to go another round.” she called back to Prism with pained humour in her voice. She’d let about half her metal plates drop to the floor, the lack of weight on her body making it feel like she was almost floating for a few seconds. But there was no time to truly rest, the civilians were still very much in danger and it was their job to ensure that they wouldn’t be. The weather had gotten worse, dramatically so, and even her inexperienced mind could quickly figure out that staying in place was not the perfect solution to the problem. But Prism’s expectations of her powers were maybe a bit too farfetched too, although they couldn’t be blamed for aiming high. ”Well I can armor whatever I hold, but I doubt I can make a shield large enough to keep everyone safe from all sides, and if I covered them in plates then they would get weighed down too much.” she explained, feeling a twinge of guilt about not being able to do the cool elaborate thing that would be super helpful. But even she had her limits, and she was a would-be hero in training, not a true hero capable of doing such feats… Not yet, she hoped… Without waiting on Oberon to suggest, she figured she at least had to offer some idea. ”I don’t think hunkering down is safe either, but if we could find a room that hasn’t been compromised, I could use my abilities to fortify it long enough for hopefully the weather to become less dangerous.” she posed. She was no structural engineer, but perhaps it was better than expecting civilians to run headlong into an unrelenting storm.

The more the goons would try to beat on her, the harder her resolve would become. It wasn’t that she was impervious either, and with every hit they chipped away at her armour and made her feel it a little better. But knowing there were civilians depending on her kept her focused on the important things. ”Why won’t you fall down!” one of the mooks would curse at her in frustration. ”Because I am a hero!” she’d exclaim as she had managed to finish what she had been preparing. With a heavy and oversized swing she would use all possible physical power to move around the oversized and overstacked mace. The last time they might’ve been able to dodge, with them being laser-focused on hitting her they wouldn’t be able to react this time around. Kicking the mace into the air and onto her shoulder, she huffed as she waved her ponytail back behind the other. ”And because there’s innocent people depending on me to protect them!” she said, feeling awfully heroic. Stepping forward, the weight was enough to crack the tiles underneath her, and she smiled as she dropped the mace in front of one of the head mooks with a thud. ”Time for the final round, bozos!” she’d grin as she’d uncoil herself back into offense against the exhausted foes.

Despite her best attempts to look brave and unyielding, the more she took breaths the more she still felt the aftereffects of going through a wall at high speed, but in situations like this she had to keep her shoulders high and her face pointing towards the enemy. Civilians depended on her, if she couldn’t do it here then why would she even be looking to be a hero anyways? And the words from the civilians breathed further life back into her as she rebuilt her shield and mace. ”Back for round two, are you boys?” she’d growl a little under her breath as the goons had picked themselves back up, and seemed rejuvenated now that their leaders had entered the fray. She’d take a step forward and threw a heavy low swing at the group, one that was more meant to push them back rather than take their feet out from under them. But as she did, a duo of them would try to split off and go at the civilians cowering. ”Take on someone who can fight back, cowards!” she yelled at the two as she used her uncanny swiftness to close the distance and tackle them off their feet. But with her back turned towards the rest, it would mean they would see their chance to try and launch an attack at her back, which she had left relatively unarmoured in favour of frontal defence. Most of their attacks were lazy and unguided, clanging off her armour and at best chipping bits and pieces off it. But one would strike lucky against the inside of her knee, causing to buckle for just a second. She’d use her mace to keep her standing only just, as she looked at the civilians. ”I will deal with these bozos, be sure to stay back.” she’d tell them with an amount of authority on her voice that she’d not usually use. With her staggered, all the hyena’s attention would be towards her, the biggest and most exciting target. They wanted to take her out, have some bragging rights among their goon friends, but Johanna was only beginning as she stoically let her armour endure the barrage, letting it slowly whittle away. Time was on her side, and she trusted her allies to come through.

It seemed that there were always surprises at U.A., as she had been hanging around on her own working on some blueprints for her own exosuit, she got the unlikely question from another hero student she hadn’t really met before. ”Wait, you want me to design a new arm for you?!” is how she had reacted when they had asked. With there being a dedicated support course, her own abilities at making gear had mostly been something she had kept to herself, something that she didn’t assume others would want. Besides, she really didn’t want to steal the thunder of all the other support course students who were undoubtedly triply as talented as she’d ever be at making cool support items. She’d be asking them for her own gear, if she hadn’t spent the past four years designing and maintaining her own exo. But with the new challenge to redesign someone’s prosthetic arm, she honestly couldn’t ever have said no since they asked her directly. … Making her way through the hallways with the newly redesigned arm slung on her shoulder her eyes would dart around classrooms and faces to see if she could find the boy. Whom she had totally forgotten to ask their contact info of, since she had already been jumping to design things the moment she had agreed to it. She was oblivious to the weird looks others gave to the combination of Johanna and metal arm slung across her shoulders. Because she’d finally find the boy, who she remembered called themselves Hawthorne. With an excited yet unceremoniously thud she’d drop the arm on the table in front of his lunch, her smile beaming as she looked proud and excited to present her creation. ”Heya Haws, I did the thing you wanted. Here’s your new state of the art mega-awesome super-arm.” she’d wax lyrically with her goofy grin. ”I added a little bit more plating to it so it can take a punch, but don’t worry about the weight because I used some of the tech I use for my suit so it’s lighter than it looks. Also since I figured you need to pack a punch, I also made sure it’s big enough to punch even the biggest villain into submission if you need it to… And that’s just the outside, wait till I show off this baby’s big secret!” she exclaimed in a ramble as she hadn’t even made sure if Hawthorne was listening. ”Whatcha think?”

Johanna’s smile, like so many times, was absolutely beaming positively towards Freja as they talked about excitement. ”Pleased to meet’cha, Freja!” she’d exclaim. ”And ‘Retry’ is an awesome hero name, by the way!” she’d add. It was cool, it was mysterious too. Definitely matched the cool vibes Freja seemed to have about her, Johanna reckoned to her internal monologue. ”Oh yeah, I’d love to walk around the campus, there’s so much cool stuff I still want to see. Like did you know they have an entire building that can simulate any and all situations, like both holographically but still which you can feel physically!” she’d exclaim. Undoubtedly Freja had also been through the USJ, as everyone who had done the official entrance exam had to. Although Johanna had heard there were a very select few every year that get in directly because of how talented they are.

“Could be better” definitely immediately put Johanna’s mind back into hero mode as she tried to discern what might be wrong, other than of course the logical result of the woman being traumated from the experience. ”Woah, that’s not nice of you little one!” Johanna exclaimed as the cat repaid the white haired saviour with a claw to her hands. Of course, the little furry villain quickly darts off into the distance to avoid atoning for their cat based criminalities, and it left Johanna grabbing her backpack. Like most of her things, the backpack was absolutely littered with cat-based pins and patches. ”With how much I deal with cats on a daily basis, I always make sure to bring some emergency equipment with me for when those little buggers get a little clawy.” she’d smile as she pulled out a bottle of water, iodine solution and bandaids from her bag. Naturally so, the bandaids had little cats on them.

”Wait, the orange ones?!” she looked dumbfounded at the boy, before her smile exploded back to life. ”I LOVE the orange ones, too! It’s such a cool fur colour, especially when they’re lounging in the sun and they’re like a little fluffy ball of golden beauty!” she excitedly added. She nodded along intently, as if the two of them had deep philosophical debate. ”For real, for real. The dumb ones are cool too, when they try to jump from place to place and they completely mess up, but they totally try to act all cool about it, I love that too!” she’d agree some more as she admired his collection. The boy’s name was Hyousuke, and from the moment they had walked in there was already a kinship forming, Johanna could feel that. Two people who definitely knew how to appreciate cats in all their glory. ”Pleased to meet you, Hyousuke! I think you might be the very first official member of Cat-Club, other than me of course! And I can clearly see you know your stuff about cats, too! she chattered excitedly.

”I can honestly only hope that I can tank a shot from those bad boys, let alone beat them in a straight fight!” she’d gush on, perhaps spurred on by her fangirling further contrasting her perceived differences in abilities. After all, one was a pro hero of nearly a decade, the other was Johanna the girl who spend as much time training as she did stalking cats when they were sunbathing. Then the question turned towards her, and she had a desire to blush a little bit as they inquired who they were and what they were doing here. ”Thanks for asking, I am Johanna Larsen, I am a first year and I am studying to become a hero who can kick ass hopefully just as much as you do… My hero name is Ironclad, or at least I want it to be as soon as I can register my hero name… I also love cats, like, properly crazy I just can’t help but take a picture whenever I see a cat I haven’t seen before, I also like to give them names although they’ll probably look at me funny like ‘Hey Johanna, that isn’t my name you dumb dumb.’, but it helps me keep them apart in my own head!” she rambled. It would honestly only take the smallest steps for Johanna to start rambling off her life if someone ever inquired.
