She had seen a lot of crazy things in her work and personal life; traveling around the world constantly will do that for you. This, however, was something she had never seen before. For a split second, she wondered if Freja was messing with her but ultimately disregarded this as Freja had been nothing but open and honest. The scientist in her was intrigued, just in a way that she was wracking her brain trying to think of a solution. They were sure as hell fraternal twins, that's for sure!

"Seriously, that's impressive. If I didn't have my quirk, there was no way I'd have gotten in." She raised a glass to give a cheers before she'd launch into the heavy stuff. "So! If you're now in your sister's body, that makes you just Freja doesn't it? I'm so sorry for your loss. Regardless, you're you. Elias, Freja, or otherwise." she would give a reassuring smile and nod some might find this to be an issue but to Sumi, people were people regardless of who they were and what they identified as.

"From my perspective, this quirk entanglement is similar to having your DNA been overwritten. Basically, because Elias inhabits your body, Freja, his quirk has now become the default and suppressed yours. Since your body would still have your original DNA stored somewhere, it is possible, through gene sequencing, to temporarily push your DNA to the front and suppress Elias' DNA without disrupting your conscious mind. Think of it like uhm" She would take a french fry and dip it in the sauce. "The sauce is Elias' quirk. Once we take the sauce off, the fry, unfortunately will still taste a bit like it, but it won't be completely covered. There's no way I know to return your quirk fully but I could whip up something to temporarily give you access. I just don't know how effective that temporary effect will be" Pouring another drink for herself, she would pull out her phone, messing through her company's app to set up sometime later to bring Freja in for an evaluation. "I just booked some time at the lab at the division I work at. We can take a look later!"

She was quick to accept and return the cheers, she really needed another sip after all that. ''I know I'm Elias, because I have his memories, but I also have Freja's memories..'' She put her glass down and folded her hands in her lap. ''So I guess I'm a bit of both?'' She shrugged, rubbing the back of her neck with her hand. Her heart was still racing she was so nervous, and yet Sumi was taking it all like an absolute hero. Surprised, probably, but she wasn't about to let that get in the way of their hangout. Seriously, had she struck gold with Sumi? In her eyes, if a friend was willing to stick with her through a secret of those proportions, then she was a keeper. She was even complimenting her skills without a quirk to boot! Without a quirk! The thing she had gotten used to being teased relentlessly for. She couldn't help but blush a bit at all the praise, or maybe it was the alcohol? In any case, Sumi could have totally made it without a quirk too!

She would look at Sumi, amazed at the explanation she just pulled out of nowhere, it made sense, but wow was it a lot of big words for Freja to process when she was this many drinks in! She couldn't take her eyes off the fry as Sumi continued to explain and once she was done Freja sat there for a moment and just absorbed this incredible revelation. ''Did you think of that just now? Like just now??'' She picked up a couple of fries herself. ''That makes so much sense..'' She muttered before munching on them. ''R-Really?! You'd do that for me?'' She almost choked on a fry, tears starting to form in her eyes but she quickly blinked them back. ''Thank you, Sumi.'' She smiled earnestly, maybe the alcohol was bringing out her emotions too. To avoid things getting too awkward she quickly looked back to the song screen, ''Uhh how about another song? Do you want to go? I can go too!''

Perhaps it was the alcohol or just her nature but being so cavalier about something as serious and potentially traumatizing felt...wrong. A surge of guilt washed over her as she thought about how she might have overstepped by just coming up with a plan rather than asking how Freja was doing. She would place her drink down on the table and exhaled. "I shouldn't be so insensitive. Sometimes I get caught up in potential ideas I don't stop to think of the impact. That must have been hard growing up like that." her eyes flitted downwards thinking about how privileged she has been. Losing a quirk was hard enough, but losing a sibling? She literally couldn't imagine.

The idea of doing more karaoke felt hollow. It wasn't Freja's fault. She just felt that this environment wasn't the best to continue their night. She refused to let her shoulder the burden of Sumi's own emotions so she perked up at the idea of more karaoke and shook her head. "Wanna go grab some food somewhere? I don't know if it was the karaoke or the drinks but I could go for some real food! I can call us a ride if you'd like?" She was already on it sending a text to some of the employees for their transit service which was a major benefit of the company. "How do you feel about burgers? There's this awesome place that makes wagyu patties that are made with 100% Kuroge Wagyu and Matsusaka beef. Besides, when else will you get someone to treat you to something so good?" Whether Sumi had realized it, she felt a real connection with Freja. Perhaps in her way, this was her seeing whether Freja was open to spending more time with her. At least until she worked out exactly what level of friend Freja would become to her.

She was a bit surprised by Sumi's sudden shift. ''Th-That's okay!'' She handwaved it, it was clearly an emotional topic for Freja but she was still trying to tough it out. ''Well you know... It happened...'' She trailed off for a moment as she counted the years on her fingers. ''Almost five years ago now! I had plenty of time to grow up 'normal' like everyone else.'' Her gaze fell to the table, she still vividly remembered the day she woke up and saw that not only had she lost her sister, but she was trapped inside her body. A lot had happened since that day.

Freja was already browsing through more potential songs they could sing, only looking up once Sumi spoke again. ''Hm?'' She blinked her eyes, secretly kind of relieved they weren't going to sing anymore songs, if only because anything too advanced would show how flawed her Japanese was. ''Sure, I could actually go for some real food too. I try to save money on the weekends since we can eat in the school cafeteria on the week days, but I'll treat you to something really good.'' She smiled confidently, hoping this could be her in to actually pay for Sumi for once. She felt kind of bad that she was being treated to so much despite their clear disparity in wealth. ''W-Wagyu burgers?'' Her eyes widened, ''Aren't those super expensive?'' Her wallet definitely would not survive dining out on wagyu burgers. ''Eh?? You're treating me again?'' She chuckled, ''But you're paying for everythiing, I'll be owing you one, or two, or five.'' Her mood had been on the way down, but Sumi who could make her laugh so easily, combined with plenty of alcohol meant she rebounded in no time. ''You're right, probably never. Very well, I'll be taking you up on your offer, Sumi. Who knows if I'll have such good eating and drinking company again.'' She smiled, raising up her glass into a cheers before finishing what was left in it. She felt bad for springing her big secret on Sumi like that, hopefully it hadn't ruined the rest of their night.

"I think you're great the way you are" she added, trying to continue to lighten the mood.

"If I expected you to pay, I wouldn't have suggested wagyu burgers." she smiled from behind her glass "Besides, next time you invite me out then if you want to pay by all means but this is still my invite. We're just changing venues" she would place her glass down, moving the plates in front of her to form a proper stack so that whoever came to clean up after them didn't have to spend any extra time.

"Likewise!" she said, raising her glass to cheer Freja as she fiddled with her purse, pulling out 10000 and 5000 yen bank notes and placing them below her glass for whoever the unlucky person would be that had to clean the rooms. The notification on her phone popped up that the car service was there for them. "Ready to head out?" She would stand, brushing off her pants for any crumbs and placing her purse back over her shoulder to gesture for Freja to head out first. They had a 10-minute car ride ahead of them which was perhaps for the best! Not that she wouldn't mind if she got as drunk as she did on the yacht, she just didn't want to get so drunk that she would forget again

Had Sumi talked to her just a couple of years ago she would have seen a completely different Freja. One who couldn't chat about her past so openly. In fact, her becoming more open about it was a very recent development, as it wasn't something she had talked about before she came to Japan. Since her family never believed her story, she assumed the same would go for anyone else she came across. ''Thanks.'' She smiled, feeling a faint blush coming on. It was nice to receive compliments, not as Elias, not as Freja, but as her. Whoever, or whatever she was, she felt like Sumi was complimenting her specifically.

''I see! I've heard a lot of good about wagyu, but it always seemed like a fantasy. It's really expensive stuff so I figured I'd never have it, maybe one day when I had a more solid income as a pro hero.'' She shrugged. Sumi was filthy rich, but she wasn't disillusioned. Seeing her stack all the things on their table together was enough to convince her that Sumi was a great person. Someone who cared about not leaving a mess and who showed respect to others who might be perceived as 'beneath' her. Heck, Freja was dirt poor compared to Sumi, and yet she had been nothing but nice to her.

''They're here already? I'm ready.'' She stood up too, grabbing her jacket and heading out the door with a small bow as Sumi gestured for her to go first. ''So that's karaoke. As the seasoned veteran, how did you think I did?'' Her question was casual, she wasn't going to have her feelings hurt either way, but just wanted to make some small talk on their way out to the car.

Whether it was in the back of their ride or on their way out to it, Freja looked up at the sky for a moment. ''Which do you prefer, Sumi?'' She looked back at the other girl. ''The sky during the day, or during the night?''

It's peaceful. When the world starts to slow down and you can reflect on your day." her gaze would end up by the window, watching the neon street signs fly by "Good or bad, I think that's important. You?" she would listen to Freja's answer before moving onto the next topic "I think you did great! That was a good song choice." she smiled at Freja as the car would slowly come to a stop.

Thank god I'm staaaarving" she would wait as the driver got out and opened the door for both her and Freja "Thank you!" she would give the driver a tip from her purse before they faced the building. It wasn't exactly the most fancy of places and didn't require a specific dress code. Which thank god it didn't as the duo definitely wouldn't have fit, it was just pricey, so you didn't have many people just stopping in for a quick bite. "Two, please!" she would speak to the hostess who led them to a table in the center of the restaurant and gave them menus before taking their drink orders "Uhm, maybe a light beer? Gotta taper off this potential hangover," she smirked and giggled at Freja, awaiting her order. "Please don't hold back on my account, trust me I can handle it!"

''Not in the slightest. I actually-'' She stopped herself from saying she used to be a smoker too, since that was in her previous life and for some reason she was scared Sumi would be disappointed in her. It was irrational, but she wasn't sure why she redirected in that moment. ''-I used to grow up around smokers a lot. Now that I think about it, you don't smell of smoke at all, but you always have cigarettes on hand.''

''Right?'' She chuckled. It was a rather odd question to ask someone out of nowhere, but she found it was a good icebreaker question. At least in terms of her getting to know the person she was with. ''It's not really something we might think about in our day to day, but we look up at the sky a lot all the same.'' She leaned against her own window, eyes transfixed on the polluted sky above. ''The night sky as well. It has a somewhat dream-like quality to it.'' She didn't realize it, but there was a distant longing to the tone of her voice. ''R-Really?'' She blinked back at Sumi, ''and here I thought I blew it by choosing an anime song.'' She admitted, her face red with embarrassment.

''Thank you so much!'' She bowed her head politely. In truth, she had been about to open the door herself, but had thankfully been so focused on their conversation that she didn't embarrass herself further. ''Right.'' She giggled, ''I'll take a bitter one though, I prefer bitter ale.'' It wasn't that she didn't want to hold back... Okay maybe a little bit. Sumi was rich, but Freja never wanted their blossoming friendship to be about the money. She never wanted it to feel like she was here just to use Sumi's wallet or anything like that. Was she overthinking things again? ''So a bitter ale and wagyu burger for me.'' She gave a thumbs up at the waiter and grinned back at Sumi. She felt like an absolute dork, but it didn't bother her since Sumi didn't seem put off by it. Struggling to think of a topic while they waited for their drinks and food, she circled back to what they had in common. ''Why do you want to be a hero, Sumi?''

"Pretty much once my parents discovered the quirk factor that developed these special cigarettes for me." she would slip the pack back into her pocket. "Unfortunately science has only come so far so they were able to make them odorless, but I still have to deal with the nicotine!" she laughed at the idea of somehow making a cigarette that was functionally no longer a cigarette.

"I'll take the same!" she said to the waiter, handing them the menu back before turning back to give her full attention to Freja. "Why do I want to be a hero?" she crossed her arms over her chest and looked up to the ceiling momentarily. She wanted to give Freja a satisfying answer that didn't make her seem self-indulgent, as she had a good deal of respect for Freja, given what she'd been through. However, honesty was always the best policy! "Truth be told, I decided I wanted the option in case the...business ever got boring?" she turned slightly red at the notion and quickly tried to pivot to focusing on Freja. "What about you??"

She blinked her eyes, looking at the name. Tiamat, huh. ''No way, especially for you?'' Sumi and her whole family were honestly so impressive that it was a little scary. How did it feel to have parents with that much power, that well-known? ''Ehh? So you still get addicted?'' She laughed along, it wasn't all bad since Sumi was most likely immune to the worst effects of it. Otherwise she couldn't imagine why she would be smoking so many cigarettes, and Freja was a former smoker too!

She was tempted to add 'take your time' but somehow she had a feeling Sumi wasn't bothered, that she was simply gathering her thoughts before answering the question. ''Is that so?'' She smiled, ''I like your reason.'' Better than being a glory hound in her book. ''Me?'' Oh no, her own question was turned against her. ''My reason isn't that great.'' She smirked, looking off into space for a moment. ''My sister always talked about being a hero. She trained like crazy too.'' She looked back at her palms. ''When she... When we both died and came back, I didn't know what to make of the situation. Everyone thought that Freja had survived so I guess I pursued her dream.'' That sounded waaay too depressing. Realizing this, she looked up at Sumi and quickly added. ''B-But that was months ago! Back when I first enrolled.'' She brushed a strand of hair away from her face. ''Now I've learned to enjoy it in my own way.'' It was kind of a broad answer so she gave a casual shrug. She had never really thought about it, but this conversation with Sumi was making her realize it. ''I guess I want to be a hero to figure out who I am? I-I know that sounds cheesy.'' She blushed, rubbing at the back of her neck.

There was a slight twinkle of admiration as Sumi held eye contact a bit longer than before, only to get interrupted as she could see the server headed their way out of the corner of her eye. Quickly placing Freja's hand back down, she was practically salivating. "Oh! Thank you so much!" she wasted absolutely no time picking up the fairly large burger with two hands and giving quick 'thanks for the food!' she'd bite into it, some of the sauce dripped onto her chin, and her legs did a little happy dance "So GOOD! You really have to try these! The first time is the best time, trust me!"

''I suppose that's true. It's not like the risk stops people from smoking anyway.'' She shrugged. When she closed her eyes for a moment she could vividly remember the first time she was given a cigarette. It was used as a way to welcome her into the group, that she could prove she was tough and could smoke a cigarette without pulling a face or backing out. Thinking back on it, it was just another stepping stone in trying to indoctrinate her into something dangerous. A gang that both had her back, but wanted her to do increasingly scary things for them. Smoke a cigarette? Sure. Kill a person on the other hand?

Before she knew it Sumi had cupped her hand. Her words were confusing and comforting all at once. She was used to being looked down at for being quirkless, or at most treated with some form of indifference, but Sumi was complimenting her. ''S-Surpass Windfall?? They're the best of the best!'' She blushed, unable to hide how touched she was by Sumi's show of support. Heck, when Sumi was the one telling her that, a small part of her even believed that maybe she might become that good one day. ''I-I just swing a bat around.'' She smiled, looking away shyly. The softness of Sumi's hands lingered in her memory even after she let go. Seeing how enthusiastic her friend got over burgers, Freja couldn't help but giggle as she was picking up her own. ''You're just like one of those characters from anime who get really excited about food.'' She teased. Like Japanese food was good, but it wasn't that good right?

One bite and her life had changed forever.

''This is INCREDIBLE!'' Her eyes were sparkling with wonder as they looked down at her burger, then back up at Sumi, then back down to her burger, then Sumi again. ''How do they do it? I'm in heaven!'' She was even holding back a few happy tears! Yup. She was right there with her geeking out about burgers.
