It was one of those rainy type days. The clouds above dark and roaring like a tempest to the dismay of all those beneath their dark shadow. The loud thunder rivaled the cold rain drops as to which was the more annoying or frightening of the two. Perry shook off each time he scampered under some type of cover getting the water from his fur as best he could. Wet fur was awful and even worse when the cold water worked its way passed if not shaken off. Cold water on his actual skin send wiggles of shivers down his spine.
Most eye's didn't wonder to the scampering animals thankfully. A day of rain and storms they worried about themselves to much to keep dry and get to their destinations as well then rather worry about animals or what they might perceive as a rat. It was only when Perry came to a run down abandoned looking house when he attempted to seize a opportunity. Thinking this could be the place to seek out refuge from the rain and roaring storm.
The house he spotted was rather run down and in need of work. He was willing to gamble it wasn't inhabited. He creeped carefully with that gamble near a window that wasn't completely closed. Leaping a rather tall distance as light fuzzy pudge poked into the opening and with a wiggle slowly plopped through and landing front paws first onto the floor wriggling and wiggling trying to help dry with a sigh as well now free from cold rain. A small puddle forming at his feet as he did so. He'd let out a sigh of relief feeling his cold bones wanting to relax as he stopped to try take in his surroundings first. Wanting to make sure he was actually safe before continuing forward.

Yukine was back at his house again. He’d returned a number of times since being found by Jackie, mostly just to rummage through the detritus to find more clues about the life he had lived there before, well, dying. His body, a little robotic armature that looked more like a toy than an actual cybernetic suit, was plugged-in upstairs, screen dark. It sat against the wall, slumped slightly forward. Yukine, all the while, was bumping around the familiar wires of the house.
Although the freedom the body afforded him was nice, it was a lot of work to power a body. It was nice to just *zip!* around the wiring of the house without really thinking about moving limbs.
My, how one’s perspective changed when their house wasn’t your literal prison.
Yukine heard the scrape of the old window before he knew what was forcing it open. He paused in his laps around the circuitry to listen. Scratching, of tiny little claws.
Ugh.
If there was something besides looters that he hated, it was animals. Animals were always wrecking his house, with their incessant chewing and nesting and going to the bathroom. Yukine couldn’t remember his parents, but he was sure that they’d be livid.
The ghost rushed downstairs, finding his way to the broken television that he’d emerged from on that fateful night. The wires buzzed as he surged forward, culminating in an angry hum near the television. It would pool, louder and louder, until one, massive arm emerged from the back of the broken device, crackling black and white. It anchored itself against the floor, kicking-up sparks and singing the carpet, as it began to emerge.

He felt safe at least for now as he patted and tried to pat and wring the water from his fur as best he could. A bit of water having followed him on a small trail on the floors behind him. Even more so on a spot where he had decided to stop now as well as the dripping was all focused on one space. Trying to at least get as much of the water off himself as he could in the moment even though the rest of it would take a bit of time to dry for sure. Wet fur was something he truly hated.
Sneaking about after he didn't think much of the place or worry much right away. It felt abandoned or like someone had moved out. But he quickly found himself somewhat in fear as to what happened next as calm was replaced by quaking worry. He peered up behind him seeing a broken tv after hearing some sounds like popping electricity or sizzling static from a tv.
At first he though it might have been something from that broken tv perhaps it was plugged in even though it was broken or something. But he saw a strange arm emerge from behind it. The light of electricity granting mild illumination as well. He'd let out a shriek that seemed to be part hiss and growl as well. Taking a wide legged stance as he quickly began to feel towards the other side of the room. His fuzzy flanks hitting small bits of trash or rubble here and there knocking things over and making a mess in a mess one might call it. He wasn't quite sure what he'd walked in on now as the wet furred critter tried to high tail it in the dark looking for a mess or rubble to hide in perhaps.

Yukine emerged from the television, his arm followed shortly by his head, other arm, and torso. Having previously burnt the rug near the television, his hand did not have the same incendiary effect as it had before. And, unlike the last time where his emotions had fueled him to fill the room, he stayed a normal five-foot-tall human-ish size as he emerged. His legs followed the rest of his body, stepping over the shattered screen of the television.
Yukine stood on the burnt rug, his luminous white eyes peering into the dark. Whatever creature he had seen before, it had scurried off out of view. There was a hum of surging electricity, and as it welled, a voice formed in the echo–
“Get out of my house, you rat!” the specter snarled, white-hot electricity arcing off of its shoulders. Truthfully, Yukine had never seen an opossum before– so he didn’t know that he had seen one. To him, an unusually large rat was now trying to turn his former house into its nest, and this was almost as great a crime as humans squatting there, in his opinion. He stalked the length of the living room, watching his footfalls to ensure that he stayed in the burnt areas to prevent further damage to the house.
He would linger at the end of the couch closest to the front door, waiting for a sound to tell him where the creature had skittered off to. Behind him, a tendril of white light danced– it tethered Yukine to the t.v., and kept him from venturing too far. As he walked, the tendril clung to an old outlet, too. It was reminiscent of one of those plasma balls often seen in the kind of stores that sold neon signs and glasswares in support of various adult purposes. Rays of light passively reached-out towards anyone who touched the orb, just as rays of electricity stretched from Yukine towards any avenue he might be able to travel down.
If he heard any indication of the opossum’s location, he would slip right back into the wall through the outlet in the direction of the noise. But, for now, he watched and listened.
