[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... It wasn't common for Jun to get paired with people from other classes on assignments, but this was a rare occasion. And even more rare was it with an underclassmen. Or. Well, she ends up doing stuff with underclassmen all the time thanks to the Newbie games. Apparently word got around...either way, she was assigned out with Emi on a search and rescue. Apparently in this simulation a massive fight had broken out, and left swaths of the city without power. It would be there job to venture through the subways in order to find any trapped civilians and bring them back to the surface. It was simple, but Jun couldn't help but sense that this assignment was a little too easy. There were two other groups, and the staging area within the station was well lit. Jun had grabbed a few items that she felt would be important on their excursion and clipped what she could to her belt; flashlight, spare flashlight, first aid kit, utility knife. Taking a third light she'd toss it towards Emi, wracking her brain for what her hero name was. "Lonestar...right? Have you found out any other information on our objective?" She tried to be thorough, but information was limited. The teacher heading this exercise was being deliberately vague with information, despite Jun's best efforts. It was also why she got hold of a map and list of trains on the day of the "attack". Emilia Hall

▲ Aside from her roommates there were only a handful of people that Emi had worked with that she didn't find intimidating or frustrating. Jun was one of them. Her senior, who she thought was capable and looked up to in a way. She always managed to keep her cool in situations like this. Due to her experiences at the school so far Emi was slowly gaining more confidence. At least externally, she could calm that voice in her head that told her to panic as long as she was focusing on a task. Training was the exact kind of thing she felt the most at peace and having someone she not only got along with but also respected meant she was in rare form today. "Hi Jun!" she waved her upperclassman down as she approached, decked out in her gym clothes for the exercise "Lodestar! I didn't really make it myself my brother is good with astronomy...astrology? Whatever it is and it has meaning because of my quirk. What is your hero name?" she was very eager to learn more about Jun and if she had already done her first year without an issues she was certain she would have a kick-ass hero name. "I didn't!" she fumbled with the flashlight she almost dropped it "I didn't realize we'd be competing...?" she said softly, looking around at the other teams. MADE BY VEL OF GS

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun blinked. It took her a second to process her own error, and clearing her throat she'd nod. "Lodestar...sorry. I try to memorize all I can about those I work with in order to make for an easier experience." Which was difficult in this school to say the least, because it involved talking to people. But observation and inquiries into what records she had access to made for a good second. Memorization was something else entirely, though. "Mood Ring. Remember, we're professionals today." She'd indicate the other teams who were also making preparations. "It's not a competition. We're working together to get as many civilians out of the tunnel as possible. From what we can gather, there's at least four trains down here that stopped working once the power was cut. Unfortunately, we don't know where they're at exactly and we don't know their condition, so we need to operate quickly and efficiently." She'd stand up, making sure everything was in place. She'd do a test throw with one of her anchors off to the side, ensuring that she could reel it in. "We're going to be taking a tunnel each in any direction. It's unknown what the state of each tunnel is, so we need to be prepared for anything. The villain attack that took place happened away from here, so there shouldn't be any damage..." She glanced over at the teacher. Sure, this wasn't Lone Wolf, but she was still suspicious. "You ready?" Emilia Hall

▲ Now it was Emi's turn to be embarrassed. She had just gone about addressing Jun by first name not even considered that this was an official course and that she shouldn't be so familiar. "Oh, I'm sorry, Mood Ring." prompted by Jun relaying it wasn't a competition; she looked around sheepishly, realizing that given the circumstances they were in she really should have known better. "I'm ready! If there's any heavy lifting, please leave it to me!" she knew firsthand that Jun had a powerful quirk that was versatile enough to get the job done herself if needed, so Emi would need to leverage her own skills to not hold her back like the shopping trip. | [attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... "I don't mind either way," Jun says, pulling out one of her maps and moving to show it to Emi, indicating the various different paths. "We're going to be moving down the Red line, here. Its route begins in the southwest and travels east by northeast. We're at the halfway mark, and should be relatively easy to get to the train." She'd offer the map to Emi, reaching for her light as she started to move towards the tunnel. "It doesn't matter who takes point, to be honest. Power is estimated to come on in another day or so, and there aren't any villains to worry about. We just gotta make the trek, get to the people, and guide them back here." Despite the statement, Jun sounded skeptical. Once she was at the beginning of the tunnel she'd turn on her light, glancing over at Emi. "Let's get going." The tunnel was a void, their lights barely penetrating the darkness as they started to progress forward. While Jun wasn't afraid of the dark, she was on edge based on previous encounters. She didn't trust this exercise, and there had to be something else going on. Emilia Hall |

▲ Normally an exercise like this would be daunting, but Jun sold her confidence so well that Emi felt pretty secure. "I'll follow!" it was a comfort thing for Emi. She looked at the map, trying her best to memorize the paths just in case. Whichever teacher prepared this exam they sure were thorough as each path led in a completely different direction. "I'm with you!" she called out following Jun into the darkness with her map in hand. This should be a routine exercise...right? @ tag ● # # # ● notes MADE BY VEL OF GS

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Initially, it did seem like it was routine. Five minutes passed, and then ten with nothing more than the darkness to occupy them. Jun would sweep the tunnel in arcs with her light, taking in every detail that she could. And it would be around the fifteen minute mark that she paused on a point on the wall, her head tilting. "That's not good," she says, beginning to walk towards it. If Emi looked that way she'd see a deep gouge in the wall, like something impacted it. As Jun walked towards it, though, her light would be on the wall one second and then vanish the next, followed by a sharp scream and the sound of a rattling chain. "Lodestar...I think I found a problem!" If Emi shined her light down she'd find a massive section of the tunnel destroyed, a massive hole that lead down towards another rail line. Jun would be dangling roughly five feet down, one of her anchors deployed and hooked onto a rail. "I believe the instructor failed to give us the right intel," she says, taking a few deep breaths. Her light was gone, no doubt smashed against the tracks down below. "Help me up. We need to see how big this hole is and if we can get across. If it's not too bad, we might be able to still trek back." Emilia Hall

▲ Emi was looking for that sweet spot to not crowd Jun while also not falling too far behind. As they made their way through the path she would consciously adjust her pace as she tried to find the right distance. She would also take the opportunity to take a look around just as Jun was and spotted the big hole shortly after she did "uh...I thought this was just supposed to be a regular exercise?" she stopped walking trying to get a better idea of what they were dealing with. "Oh, Ju-Mood Ring I think this might be on-" she then heard the scream and spun around looking for Jun, who had managed to snag the edge of the hole with her anchor. Emi's first instinct was to use her quirk to pull her up, but then she considered that the extra weight might make them both fall in "H-Hang on! I can pull you up" she would delicately move towards the edge, gripping the chain of the anchor and using her naturally enhanced strength to slowly pull Jun up. Had she used her quirk, she likely could have done so in one go with one arm! The risks just weren't worth it. "I'm starting to think this...was planned? I mean like what if sensei took us down the wrong path on purpose...?" they couldn't rule it out entirely as this wasn't the first time either of them had experienced a 180 like this. @ tag ● # # # ● notes MADE BY VEL OF GS

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun twisted enough to not hit her head as Emi yanked her up, thankful that her suit had a built-in harness. Otherwise, this experience would be painful along her stomach and hips. "I want to claim that this reeks of Lone Wolf, but he's not the only instructor to plant nasty surprises in his scenarios," she says, rolling to her knees once she was hauled up. Pulling off her spare light, she clicked it on and began to scan the hole, thankfully finding her map. "Thanks. If there's anything I hate more than falling, it's flying." She began to shine her light on the path ahead, outlining the hole she had just fallen through. "We weren't lead astray. This is still the Red line. Something I learned in the first eight weeks here is despite what the instructors give you, you still have to second guess every assignment they give you. Especially if it's practical like this. No plan survives contact with the enemy, intelligence can always be wrong, and not everything is as it seems. This is just one example of that." She indicated the hole, beginning to look around. "That fight must have been more extensive than was reported. Lotta heroes, especially younger ones, give in to a battle lust. Everything becomes a haze, and details don't make it in to after action reports." The hole took up about half the tunnel, but on the side there seemed to be a sturdy walkway. "We can progress there, but we need to make sure it can hold up to the weight." She started to walk towards the makeshift walkway, looking points that they could use for contact. "Let's do a test. Use your quirk going across. I'll hook a chain around you, and ground myself to that handhold there. If it breaks, then I'll reel you in and we'll just launch ourselves across and lead the people to a station further up." Jun paused as she got up on the walkway, a thought crossing her mind. "...I mean, if that's alright with you. I'm open to other ideas if you have anything better." Emilia Hall

▲ She was so wise! Emi was in awe at how quickly Jun took control of the situation and gave her assessment. She did have a point; in her exercises, there always seemed to be a twist. Half of them involved Zenkai being Zenkai but the idea that you needed to be prepared for anything tracked when it came to what the teachers would say in her classes. Emi nodded along as Jun explained, unsure if she had anything else to add but eager to see what she came up with next. The idea to have her cross the gap made sense given their quirks! However there was the elephant in the room - her. "I don't think I've ever mentioned this but my quirk actually makes me pretty heavy when I use it...almost 800 pounds." thank god the darkness masks how much she was burning up. Nonetheless, she agreed to the plan, activating her quirk and causing the floor to creek and once Jun had wrapped her chain around her she would get a running start and leap, slowing her descent as she aimed for the other side. @ tag ● # # # ● notes MADE BY VEL OF GS

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Eight hundred pounds?! That was a lot. The crazy thing to Jun was that it didn't show physically, it just happened. She couldn't help but wonder why... As Emi took the running jump Jun began to say something, but stopped once she was over. There was some creaking due to the jump, and the platform seemed to be intact...it was likely that they could get all the people across the small bridge. "Alright...think we can do this then. Just gotta find the train now." She unhitched herself from the wall and began to walk across, keeping some tension between her and Emi in the event the worst happened. From there she'd use her light and begin again to walk along. And it was boring. Another thirty minutes or so, with Jun having to check every so often to ensure they were on the right track. "You know, with that other level I can't help but wonder if we were supposed to be further down..." she scrutinized her map, flipping through a few pages before sighing. "Or that's an entirely different line. Maybe we'll end up at the next stop-" Almost in an instant the darkness was dispelled, blinding the pair as the lights inside the tunnel shot back on, Jun staggered a little, wiping her face before pausing. "Emi, don't move," she says, breaking that professional veneer as there was an audible hum between the pair. "Where's that third rail? Where? Don't touch it, whatever you do! Enough power courses through it that can fry a person in a few seconds, don't move!" Off in the distance a screech could be heard...almost like the sound of wheels on rails. Emilia Hall

▲ By the look on Jun's face it was clear that she was just as surprised at this information that everyone else had been when she told them. After all it was a weird phenomenon from what she was told as the activation of her quirk was akin to stacking paper on itself. The actual visual wasn't all that impressive, but it wasn't something to mess around with even with a lot of the buildings being reinforced. With the success of crossing, she stood steady so Jun could cross and then they continued on, walking so long Emi felt herself losing track to time. "Wow. This place is big, huh?" she said in an attempt to make some small talk until she would peer over Jun's shoulder at the map, realizing that based on what they were given she might have been right...just to be interrupted by a sound you never wanted to hear in this position: a train "Uh J- Mood Ring! I don't think we can stay here for much longer!"

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... As Jun started to put her map away and get accustomed to the light she started to listen out for the incoming train, her face beginning to pale as she started to look around. "This isn't good. This isn't good. Uh..." In almost any other situation she would be calm and collected, but there were a million things now running through her head. It was a kind of panic she had experienced the first few times she was thrown into these situations, something so far out of left field that she'd have to improvise on the spot. I knew this was too easy, I just knew it! Okay, deep breath, one step at a time... Recovering just a little, she looked down and pointed to the third rail, both their feet a little too close for comfort. "Move back a little from that, that's a killer right there. Okay, so the good news is the power's on again..." she listened, the train starting to get closer. "And that's heading this way...Em- Lodestar, we have to stop it somehow." She looked back, then forward, then to the sides. "It's not a bullet train, but that will still be going really fast. We can't set a blockade 'cause that'll cause more injuries, that hole...that's a while back behind us, but even a few minutes will derail it. We'd have to take a look at the inside, and this tunnel is too narrow, and it'll be going too fast to get on and it'll rip our arms off-" An idea struck her, something that would more than likely be out of a cartoon but the physics of it made sense to her. Taking a breath she focused on her determination and began to form a cannon pointing back the way they came. In the distance the light of the train could be seen. "Get in! Use your quirk to negate some of the force, we're going to try and match speed with that thing so we can latch onto it without getting turned to paste." A pause. "...You're. Gonna have to hold onto me, but...well, we don't have a lot of options!" Emilia Hall

▲ Emi may not have known much about infrastructure like Jun did, but she was very in tune with what an approaching train sounded like. Just...not when she was on the tracks. She nodded trying her best to steel herself, and stepped away from the live rail. She could take a knife to the face and be shot by bullets, plus she survived The Rumbling... It was a sobering experience. She had done what she thought was right and almost got herself killed and let others down. The recovery period and mandated sessions with the guidance counselor had made her realize one thing, she needed to change. This was a chance to do just that! She slapped her cheeks to sober herself up completely and then spoke up with more conviction "We'll stop it!" she watched Jun summon a cannon and give her ideas on what to do. "You should hold onto me. I'm tough enough to we only have to slow down a little bit!" she would prepare herself to climb inside by activating her Rad-Condensor in preparation for them slowing down once they were in motion. Once they were ready, assuming Jun accepted the new plans, they were off with Emi crossing her arms over her face to block anything else that might have come their way. "Tell me when!" she cocked her arm back, ready to send out a punch to decelerate them whenever Jun gave the signal. Once that time came, she would punch out with them, stopping nearly all momentum as she reached out with her other hand and grabbed onto the side of the train "Get on! I'll be fine, no worries!"@ tag ● # # # ● notes MADE BY VEL OF GS

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun blinked. As Emi climbed in Jun hesitated a little; she would have to initiate touch. Despite the fresh adrenaline pouring into her bloodstream she didn't like the idea of wrapping her arms around another person- No time. Something had to be done either way, and it involved touch. Taking a breath she hopped up into the opening and slid in, wrapping both arms and legs around Emi. She hated every second of this, but there was little options that could be done. As her panic began to build Emi would detect the ragged breathing coming from her senior, and doing her best to focus on literally anything else she set her eyes on the train. The advantage of having constructs like this was they weren't totally opaque, and while the light hurt her eyes she could easily see the train coming. Gripping onto Emi she waited...and waited. And finally, with a thunderous BOOM Jun fired the pair outwards. Almost right after the train slammed into the cannon, destroying it entirely. That was okay though, as they were flying just barely faster than the train. Though that momentum was beginning to slow, and they were losing altitude- "NOWNOWNOW!" Jun screamed, her head spinning from the sudden acceleration, then deceleration, then reverse-celeration. She felt like she was going to be sick, but with Emi grabbing hold of the train she angled herself enough to slam through one of the side windows, shaky hands reaching out to try and get Emi's feet. "W-walk it back! Nice and easy!" Once they were safely inside, Jun slumped against the side of the train as her nerves took over for a moment, temporarily clouding her vision. "Okay...step one done. Need to, to, to, uh...engine. Shut engine off..." Emilia Hall
