[attr="class","skep-content"]
The world was such a strange place when the sky was down and the ground was up. Seen through eyes made up of a mixture of fuchsia and light blue. Her eyes followed a group of people, making their way towards the local festival nearby in celebration of Golden Week. Many such festivals were going on throughout Tokyo at the moment and it just so happened that May had managed to choose one of the large parks where one was being held, which was a bit awkward when you were simply out for a run.
[break][break]
May leaned backwards so that she was laying over the back of the bench, sweat soaked pink hair hanging down in a curtain as she panted softly. She’d been pushing herself extremely hard this week despite the fact that it was supposed to be a vacation. Time off. But in the words of several of her teachers, ‘Heroes don’t get a day off’.’ Which both sucked and made sense. You couldn’t just turn off that spark inside, that drive to help others. So why not make use of that motivation and train?
[break][break]
Plus, she had a demanding performance coming up at her local troupe’s stage. She needed all the stamina she could get.
[break][break]
Hearing her phone buzz. May would reach down into the solitary pocket of her high-waisted leggings to tug it out and take a peek at the screen.
[break][break]
[Mamarazzi: May. You really should come home and take a few days to relax. We’d all like to see you for the holiday.]
[break][break]
May sighed a little bit and stared at the screen. Admittedly, she’d been not the nicest to her family as of late. Dodging phone calls, ignoring texts and pretending she wasn’t in her dorm. Not because she didn’t love them, but because every chance they got they were trying to convince her to not pursue being a hero. They’d tell her not to throw her life away, to find another passion.
[break][break]
“They just don’t understand.” She’d mumbled to herself a hundred times. She sighed in resignation and sent a message back.
[break][break]
[May: I can’t promise a few days, but I’ll come around on friday. We can have a nice dinner, my treat. Kay?]
[break][break]
The phone beeped back pretty quickly. Had her mother just been staring at the screen waiting?
[break][break]
[Mamarazzi: Sounds like a plan. See you then.]
[break][break]
May flipped the phone shut and sighed, tucking the phone back into the pocket on her leggings and wrinkled her nose slightly. Maybe she’d take them to a nice restaurant so they’d feel bad if they brought things up.
[break][break]
Reaching up and patting her cheeks gently May would huff, “Alright. C’mon May. It's only…” She lifted her arm looking at her smartwatch, “…Four miles to go.”
[break][break]
It wasn’t often May was out of uniform or in her usual bright outfit. But today she was dressed like a runner. High-top sneakers, form fitting and high-waisted leggings and a long-sleeved crop top showing off her toned stomach. She was deceptively fit. Unless you wanted her to show you a feat of strength, then she was not so fit.
[break][break]
Flicking the charm on the black choker she wore she’d sit up and tousled her hair a bit, tugging it out of her face. A face which still showed playful hints of her performance makeup from the night previous. A faded hint of eyeliner, a subtle bit of playful sparkle around her eyes and mascara coated lashes.
[break][break]
Considering her options she’d tug the blue scrunchie from her wrist and draw her hair back into a lazy ponytail and as she was about to push wireless ear buds into her ears she stopped. Her eyes having found the form of someone she was pretty sure she recognized nearby. She blinked twice, tilting her head a little bit.
[break][break]
“…Sora?” She said quietly to herself. She was pretty sure she was staring at the form of the newfound friend she’d neglected to text since meeting him some days previous. But what were the chances they’d run into each other a second time, in a park no less?
