Chiharu

Chiharu wasn't opposed to being dirty. Living so close to the forest amde getting messy a natural, everyday occurence. Chiharu could only avoid it so much, so she decided that it was bes tnot to at all. Most of the time she wouldn't think to change out of her attus just because of some grime on it; the problem with it currently was that it was littered with twigs and small tears. When the mysterious girl did wake up, she wanted to make sure that she looke ded a bit more presentable.

Taking it off the restrictive, battered clothing item, she would hum a small tune, most likely something that her father had once sang to her. It wouldn't be anything super well-known, but she liked to think that it was something that her mother had taught him to sing for her. With her back only half turned to the once dragon girl, she kept an eye on her idly. It wasn't as if she didn't trust her, but more so that she wanted to attend to her the second she could. With the attus falling off, it would reveal a gentle beige colored garment that caressed her body.

Seeing her move out of the corner of her eye, she wasn't able to grab something to fully cover herself with before she would spin to face her. "N-No! It is okay!" It still felt weird to talk to anyone but her father, but she knew that she needed to say something so that she knew that she was safe. "You look like you have a fever- here." Chiharu would motion to the cold cloth that was on a nightstand beside her, grabbing it and motioning for the dragon to grab it for her brow. "Please, just rest, you are safe here. The men are gone, I will make you food." Her hands were out as if trying to tame her, hesitant with her words and actions so that she didn't say or do something that would upset her.

Carefully, she would place a hand on her own chest, ready to introduce herself. "My name is Satporopet." A pause. "Chiharu Satporopet."

Anything the girl said barely registered in her mind, and as she kept talking, it vaguely reminded Kaida of tinkling windchimes in a gentle spring breeze, wait, why did she think that? Her grip was still steel-strong on the windowsill, the feeling of fire on her cheeks still present as she struggled to turn around and lower herself from that position of near-jumping to make eye contact. A fever? Maybe she did, if this is what a fever felt like. She's never felt this hot before.[break][break]

Kaida stuttered a thank you as the girl, who named herself Chiharu, handed her the cloth. She didn't make any move to use it, however.[break][break]

Only then did she take in her surroundings. A homely place, smelling faintly of well-worn wood, leather, and other rustic smells she would have recognised back in her old "home", the Ikarashi Estate. Traditional. Kaida had never liked the appeal of modern homes— one like this was a welcome change of pace, despite its unfamiliarity. Everything seemed... handmade. Did she do all of this? "Kaida Ikarashi," she introduced herself, her tone was considerably more evened out, but still cracked with nervousness. She blinked, icy-amber eyes glazed over. "where... is this? Those people who attacked you, where are they?" She looked up sharply. "Were you followed?"

Chiharu

"A pretty name, miss." It felt only right to call her miss, since the girl did feel mature enough to at least be the same age as her, if not a bit older. She was elegant to Chiharu, with deep dark hair that seemed to be a silent night. Her red hair was the one thing that was hard to blend into the natural forest with hair that looked like fire. Chiharu had thought to dye her hair a more appealing color for hunting, but her father was a bit against trying to ruin such a unique color of hair for no good reason.

"This is my home, a little away from where I found you." She was concise with her words, careful not to overload her with unneeded information. "I am not sure where the people are that attacked you are." Even though she was almost killed by them, she felt that they were truly after Kaida and not herself. "I would assume that they are still in the forest, getting picked up by their men or something." She wasn't entirely sure who they were, but she was sure that they wouldn't just leave them in the middle of the forest if they were so sure that they were going to capture her.

She'd shake her head in a confident no. "The path to my house is far from where we were. Only people that know the forest would know how to get to it." A pause, a smile. "I promise you that. I would not bring you to an unsafe place. You protected me, so I will protect you."

Kaida listened, her ears pricked for any movements outside or inside the house. Despite her lethargy, she was still on high alert— the drugs in her system were slowly but surely wearing off. She truly didn't sense any danger afoot, and she doubted those men and their leader would come after her so soon. If anything, they would send for reinforcements before pursuing. It would take time, and she would be long gone before then. Kaida would report to U.A.U about this, who could keep an eye on activity in this area for Chiharu's safety.[break][break]

The dragoness shifted to a more comfortable position, sitting on the side of the bed. "I'm sorry you had to see me like that." Kaida apologised, thinking back to how she had found no restraint in injuring those people. "It's rare to find a kindred spirit that doesn't run at the sight of... me." Kaida sat up, moving to Chiharu's front, looking down at her. "How you stood up for me was..."[break][break]

Rash? Bold? Foolhardy?[break][break]

"Brave. But for your own sake in the future, I would advise against doing it again." Kaida said gently. "You could have gotten yourself killed."

"It is fine. I think that it is okay to look at someone in any situation. If you can't see someone in their worst shape, then I think you're not a good person!" Maybe it was an out of pocket thing to say, but Chiharu knew that things were always at their worst so easily. Chiharu never wanted to see the worst in people, but there was something so nice about being able to see someone at their worst.

"Why would I have ran? You were- are beautiful! Creature or not, I think that you have a mysterious look and feel to you!" Maybe it was the closeness that she had to the forest, but she never had a reason to be scared of things in the forest. Being wary was something totally different, but that was usually far and few between if you knew what to do and where to go.

She'd perk up at the compliment, her cheeks flushing without her truly realizing. "Well, I didn't and if I hadn't stepped up, you would have gotten taken." She'd pause, trying to stare into her eyes. "It was a mutual wanting someone safe! I wasn't going to let those poachers in my forest miss, let alone let them take you!" She was glad that she was being seen as brave at least to someone. "What were you doing exactly- well... You don't have to say anything if you don't want to." Chiharu knew that there wasn't much point pushing someone that she'd just met.

"Never mind that, why not just rest and eat up for now. I know that it isn't much, but I would rather that you make sure whatever they shot you with is long out of your system before you leave." Chiharu would bow, before moving to sit across the room in a chair. She would grab up a pair of knitting needles, and hum along a tune to try to give Kaida some time and privacy.

Kaida couldn't stop staring as Chiharu beamed at her. It was like looking directly into the sun after she came up from the deep ocean for air— utterly blinding. For a girl who had shown no fear in the face of death, teeth bared and all, she was acting like it all had never happened, as though they were best of friends. It was... odd. Kaida wasn't entirely sure how to respond, so she only dipped her head, muttering a quiet "thank you".[break][break]

Chiharu was a kind and brave soul. Kaida loathed to think what might have happened to her had those poachers seen her in the wild; people were not kind in this world, no matter who you were, no matter where you came from. There's always someone that hates you.[break][break]

Yet... for Chiharu's sake, as Kaida felt the hand-woven blankets beneath her calloused fingertips, Kaida didn't want that to be the case. To be invited into a home as she was, was to be invited into a life. She wanted to know Chiharu better, but was it for the right reasons?[break][break]

Did she have the right to that? To insert herself into Chiharu's life, flaws, enemies and all, just to be selfish?[break][break]

Kaida would only settle with her back against the wall on Chiharu's bed, staring out the window. When night fell and Chiharu slept, she left silently, disappearing into the night— but not before leaving a note with only her number on it.[break][break]
