[Rin]

Sitting on one of the many, many benches around campus Rin was having a bit of a difficult moment. The brunette had her bag in her lap and arms lightly wrapped around it, chin propped up on the top and eyes closed. She had her headphones on, and her music playing just quietly enough that nobody - unless maybe they had super hearing - could hear it. There wasn't anything particularly wrong at the moment, and at a casual glance she probably looked pretty relaxed or like she might have even fallen asleep.

She wasn't relaxed at all, though, and the more observant might notice how tense she was or the way she was scrunched in on herself or the slight tremble to her hands.

Rin had been scurrying across campus as part of her day to day, something she still was having a hard time wrapping her head around, when the weight of everything just kind of hit her all at once. Training was hard, studying was hard, the expectations everyone had was hard, the dangers of actually being a hero was hard. How did her brother do this? How had he made it through a hero university, and how was he managing to be a hero now? It seemed like the answer to that was pretty obvious - Rin herself was the problem. She couldn't do anything and she knew it, and now here she was sitting on a bench doing her best to tune everything out before her anxiety got the best of her. Especially her thoughts.

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Recovery was going well. The burns were healed up, but her body was still trying to acclimate after a million volts caused every part of her to twitch. The doctors said she'd have some level of nerve damage, but not so severe that it might negatively affect her quality of life. There were a lot of silver linings considering she literally crossed over the edge. Ballcap on and in casual clothes she'd be in route to her next class. She was doing everything she could to catch up, and while she'd rather spend the time to do more physical things she knew if she didn't do her schoolwork she'd end up flunking out. She couldn't have that. However, on route to her next destination she paused, noticing that someone seemed to be having a hard time. They were sleeping, but at the same time it wasn't a restful sleep. She was hesitant to try to reach out to her, and after hoing and humming a few seconds slowly approached. "H-hey...you uh. You doing alright there?" Rin

There was a slight delay between hearing a voice she didn't recognize speaking up and actually realizing it was directed at her. When she did, Rin's eyes shot open and she sat straight up on the bench. Before saying anything at all she glanced around quickly first to the left and then to the right, hoping that maybe there was someone else around that was actually being addressed.

Nope, it was just her on the bench and a girl in a baseball cap looking right at her.

Rin glanced up at the other girl's face just briefly, dropping her gaze down to her feet before anything but the very briefest of eye contact could be made. Her face went a bit paler than usual, anxiety already building up over how awkward this situation was about to be. "I..." She started and stalled out almost immediately, not sure what to actually say. Taking a deep breath, Rin forced a small smile on her face as she stood up with her bag still tightly clutched in her arms. "I'm okay! Just... dozed off, I guess! The courses here are really... exhausting, aren't they?"

After she'd said it she flinched internally. She was lying, it was obvious she was lying, and even if the other girl didn't notice she was lying... she had to sound pathetic, saying that she found the courses that everyone here went through just fine to be exhausting.

Part of her wanted to move on and let her figure things out, just apologize for disturbing her nap and move on, but she felt the need to stay. "Yeah, real exhausting...if you're not careful you can easily get hurt while you're training. It's like that for a good reason, though," she says, shifting her bag. "You uh, mind if I sit for a minute?" Assuming Rin gave her permission Jun would gently sit on the edge of the bench, turning to face her. "I can't help but feel like you might be stressed out over some of the beginner courses. You uh, wanna talk about them? I've been where you are, and I might be able to give a little advice, if you want it." A pause. "-Oh! I'm Jun, by the way!" Rin

Rin honestly hadn't expected the girl to agree with her, and then the follow up about it being for a good reason made her pause to think. That was probably true, that it had to be like that to prepare people or something, right? She got snapped out of her thoughts soon after though, hastily nodding and replying: "Oh, no, or I mean yeah sure! I don't mind at all, that is."

She winced internally at how much she fumbled that, and when the girl sat down and faced her Rin tried to do the same - but couldn't quite bring herself to make actual eye contact still. Settling on looking at one of the other girl's shoulders, the other girl pretty much hit the nail on the head. With a bit of hesitation she gave a nod, and she was about to turn the offer down out of not wanting to trouble her or anything when she introduced herself. Pretty much by reflex Rin did the same.

"Ah, hello Jun-san! Er... Jun-senpai?" She wasn't sure, but the way she talked gave her the impression Jun was in at least second or third year or something. "I'm Rin. Uhm, Rin Gotoh. And... I wouldn't turn down any advice!" A thougth came to mind and she hastily added: "But I don't want to just talk about me either or anything, I'm sure you have your own things going on and everything, right?"

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun paused a moment as she thought on that, shaking her head. "I have my own things, yeah, but like. I can deal with them on my own time. You look like you need something now." She shifted a little, trying to be as nonthreatening as possible. She didn't know how Rin was going to perceive her, so it was best to be candid with her words with a neutral body posture. "The beginner courses are nothing when you compare them to what the upperclassmen have to deal with. More complex scenarios, real life or death situations, hard choices...I know the freshmen have some of those, but the high level courses are dialed up to an eleven. You gotta know your quirk inside and out and be real creative to deal with most situations." She tapped her chin, thinking. "Are you stressed because of the scenarios themselves, or is it something else?" Rin

Hearing that, Rin tried to straighten up a little more and look less... however she looked, that was giving the impression that she needed something. She appreciated the concern but more than that was this overwhelming feeling that she was distracting people from their own problems and day to day by being so overtly falling apart-y. Or however it was she looked to them. But, her attempts at seeming more fine than she was didn't really work or even last that long hearing that courses were only going to get harder, and choices were going to get harder too?

She wasn't confident in her Quirk or creativity either, but the choices part was what she found really scary.

Bringing her hands up in front of her but not sure what to do with them at Jun's question, she tried to think of how to answer it. "Ahh... well, the scenarios are... definitely pretty intense!" She gave an awkward laugh, and she considered just leaving it at that. How could you tell someone that pretty much everything under the sun stressed you out? "But uhm, to be honest with you Jun-senpai... I'm not really all that good at dealing with any kind of stress? I guess it just feels like a lot, all the time?"

Hopefully that made sense, because Rin couldn't think of a better way to put it.

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Oh. Oh no. This poor girl. Jun wanted to reaffirm to her that it was perfectly fine to be overwhelmed, but in truth that was a bad outlook. She looked away, clicking her teeth together as she tried her best to think of a way to placate the girl's concerns while also trying to be inspiring. Which was hard because she had the self-esteem of an American trying to lose weight by going through Taco Craig's. Or something like that. The analogy has broken down, but that's par for the course. What was I doing again? Oh, right! "It's meant to be stressful. The level depends on the scenario, but as heroes we've got to be able to adapt to anything and everything...that's our job. If we don't learn to adapt to a situation on the fly, then people could get hurt...or yourself. Both are very bad." She looked at the rings on her hands, frowning a little as she took in a deep breath. "There's a theory within the hero sphere...the one decisive moment. It's the point where everything is bad, and you have every disadvantage, and if something isn't done to diffuse a situation then a lot of damage could take place. UA does what it can to prepare you so moments like that happens, but..." she looked up at Rin, tilting her head. "If you were to run into that one decisive moment...as stressful and overwhelming as it is, you've got to make the choice." Rin
