Amane is a laidback sort of guy. Although he looks like an absolute musclehead and is a musclehead, he also likes his quiet, contemplative moments. Whether it's reading the news in an actual, printed newspaper while enjoying his coffee or spending hours of his free time on crossword puzzles. As a civilian his life is surprisingly ordinary and while he doesn't seek attention, he certainly doesn't hate it either as he isn't afraid from enjoying life and laughing so loudly that it would turn heads.
As a hero, Amane is much more level-headed and calculating and while he is perfectly content to go into the frontlines and square off with villains, his love for helping people extends beyond just fighting crime. This led him to becoming a student counselor at the very same university he himself graduated from years ago. Being more of a generalist, and a ''don't put all your eggs in one basket'' kind of guy, Amane believes his wisdom and guidance is just as important, if not more so than his fighting skills. While he is an absolutely hopeless romantic, when it comes down to it, his heart is closed off. Reserved for a special someone he met earlier in his life and hopes to get back together with.

As the eldest son of the Gotoh family I always felt a pressure to succeed. Of course I'm neither the brightest, fastest or the strongest among my peers. I knew that even before I got accepted into UAU. As a student I was diligent, but not particularly remarkable. I quickly learned that it was better to not have all my eggs in one basket, which is why once I graduated and became a sidekick I began looking for other jobs as well.
Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't like my boss Iphigenia, it has more to do with spending the time we have been provided wisely. I believe my talent doesn't lie in just helping others on the battlefield, but in more subtle ways too. As a UAU counselor I help direct the students who might feel as lost as I was back in the day. Not everyone is going to grow into a renowned hero, but that doesn't mean they aren't talented. Quirk or not, everyone has something special that makes them a valuable asset to society. I wish to bring these qualities to light in people however I can.
