Between the new internship, Elementals, and the trouble she and Kaida had gotten into, Jun needed a bit to try and unwind. Something that was never going to happen with all the practice patrols (one which also landed her in trouble), and exams coming up. Which lead to today. With Ana doing her thing in the labs Jun decided to invite Zaya over so they could start studying. It was better than cramming, and this also meant she could go over the material she was more in tune with. On top of it, she could help Zaya out with things she needed, and do a little catchup. It felt like they hadn't talked for a long minute. "So, how's things going with you?" It was innocuous, but Jun didn't really know. With all kinds of books on her bed and an odd playlist on the radio, it was getting time to get to business. zaya

An invite to study from Jun was the perfect excuse for Zaya to crawl out of the shell that was her room, and get some fresh air. Conversations with Mark were still fresh in her head, and thoughts of all the boys she’d met recently were swirling around still as well. Getting dressed in casual clothes, pajama pants and a loose shirt, Zaya quickly made her way to Jun’s dorm.

Knocking to make sure she could come right in, the girl would find herself a comfortable spot on Jun’s bed and sit down.
“I guess I can’t complain.” She’d state in her normal bored tone, taking out her phone and scrolling through social media posts mindlessly.

“Met some interesting people.” Sighing, her thoughts drifted more and more to the boys she had met. Glancing over to Jun, Zaya couldn’t help but compare herself to her; It was undeniable that Jun outwardly seemed more attractive, as well as the more outgoing of the two of them; It was hard not to feel jealous.
“I’ve been trying to keep up with my studying more…Hopefully we can both cram a bit for our tests. You only need a C to pass most of the classes, right?” No need to go for perfection after all.
“Also, I’ve been meaning to ask…Have you ever had like…A boyfriend before, Jun?” Zaya felt a bit bashful asking the question, and turned away a bit with embarrassment on her face.
“I mean, I’m just asking because I’m curious, that’s all.”

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun nodded at the C comment. "It's a low bar, but I like to push for something a little higher than that. Aim for the stars, that way if you end up in the stratosphere you're still in good condition." The question about a boyfriend caused the pencil she was using for notes to suddenly snap. She'd look up at Zaya, looking absolutely appalled. "A what?! Absolutely not! That kinda thing is gross and ick and...I only know this because my friend Yaoyao is insufferable every time she and Kei are around! I like them both, but when I'm with them together is just...ugh!" She shook her head. "Besides, I'm too busy trying to get to be the best hero I can be, honing my body into peak physical condition because this sort of life is unforgiving. I don't have time for a boyfriend, especially one that's needy and wants attention." She went down to look at her notes, frowning a little. "Besides, you an get pregnant just by kissing. And I definitely don't have time for that. Plus, my mom would kill me." It might have been hard to tell, but Jun wasn't exactly a romantic type. Whether or not there was any reason behind this was yet to be seen. zaya

Aim for the stars, huh? That sounded way too hard; Sticking with C’s felt way easier. Still, Zaya just nodded in agreement with Jun. Who knew, maybe she’d get lucky on her tests and get a slightly higher grade.

The girl’s eyes widened as she listened to Jun’s response; It seemed like not only did Jun not like guys, she had no interest in dating at all, opting to focus all of her efforts on her heroics; It was a fairly noble thought process.
“Uh, I mean yeah, I guess you do have to dedicate time to a relationship. I suppose its understandable to not want one due to time…”

It was Jun’s next comment that made Zaya break out in laughter; It started as a giggle before erupting into a full on howl; Embarrassed but unable to stop, Zaya buried her face in a pillow until she could regain her composure.

Zaya didn’t know a whole lot about dating, but at the very least she knew that it took far more than a kiss to get pregnant. “Yeah, that’s why girls wear lipstick; for protection.” She replied, trying her best but failing to hold back her giggles.
“But really...Let’s say in a hypothetical situation, after your body is already honed and everything, that you meet a guy you like.” The girl continued, finally managing to chase her laughter away. “What would you do to get his attention, or like, let him know that you’re interested? Is there anything special you can think of?”
Despite the fact that Jun was clearly inept about dating, Zaya couldn’t help but ask her for advice. Jun was like a big sister to her, and without any actual siblings to turn to, she was the best source to ask about this sort of thing…Unfortunately.

She doesn't remember the full context, just the byte of, "Kissing boys makes you pregnant". That said...lipstick. She'd have to remember that. Not for now, but definitely later. 100%. The hypothetical, unfortunately, grated upon Jun's brain. Mostly because it was a question she didn't know how to answer because she never considered it like that. So she leaned back against the headrest, thinking, and... "I would tell him that I like him and we're getting married and if he has any objections he better get them out now." She stopped, thinking again on that. "Or...something similar to that. I dunno. I've planned for all kinds of things, but that is something I haven't considered. Mostly because it's never going to happen." She'd go back to her work, but after a few minutes she'd let it flop forward, thinking again. "Actually, I'd ask him if he wants to binge all of Gundam with me one day. Like, all of it. Throughout it's inception from the 1970s there's gotta be, what...well over two weeks of content connected together? Either he accepts and sits through as much as possible, or he chickens out and I know he's not the one. Gotta make it at least three days with bathroom and food breaks." It was possible that Jun had a few screws loose. zaya

This time Zaya tried harder to stifle her laughter at Jun’s over the top way of proposing to a man; It was like she was a caveman, clubbing her mate over the head as opposed to real courtship.
“I dunno about that approach, seems like you’d be coming on just a bit strong…”

Thankfully, Jun’s revised answer sounded much more rational; At first. It seemed like if she ever did go on this theoretical date, she’d be trapping the poor guy thinking they would just watch an episode of two and locking him in for a whole series.
“That seems a little extreme…But maybe you’ve got the right idea?” Zaya was beginning to ponder if she was actually better at relationships, despite having no actual experience herself. Hell, with how unhinged some of Jun’s answers were, Zaya figured she might just be better at people in general than her.

“I mean, I’m into rock music, maybe I could take a guy out to a music store and just listen to a full album or two with him, see if he shares the same tastes as me?”
It seemed like a better, toned down version of Jun’s answer, so maybe it was a good idea? Then again, with how looney some of Jun’s other ideas were, maybe she should try doing the opposite of what she says.
“Or…What if we did something that neither of us were for sure into? Like…Maybe picking out a movie at random and seeing how we both react to it?”

I don't necessarily see a problem with that, but in order to really test loyalty-" She stopped, her entire train of thought grinding to a complete halt. Why was Zaya asking all this? And even more, why was Jun entertaining the discussion at all? She shut her book, setting it aside as she leaned forward. She had been through things like this before with Yaoyao, but she had never been the one to initiate. "Zaya, these are all weird things to ask someone that acknowledges that she has terrible social skills." It was a simple opener, one that Jun kept an even tone with in order to mask her emotions. "What exactly is going on that requires this line of questioning?" zaya

Uh oh; Not good. What started as Zaya casually trying to probe Jun for dating advice was slowly turning into somewhat of an interrogation. While she did make a valid point on not having good social skills, in fairness Zaya’s social skills weren’t much better; Possibly even worse, considering just how few friends she had.
“I mean, well, ya know, small talk and stuff…” Zaya stated awkwardly, trying to bury her face deeper into her phone to avoid eye contact.

Though, the more she thought about it, the more she realized; Like it or not, Jun was probably the only person she could really splurge about her feelings to. And even then, she might get herself into a lecture about the dangers of holding hands with a boy.
Worth the risk.
“Well…I met a boy.” The teen finally admitted, smiling to herself as she clasped her phone to her chest.
“We’ve only hung out a little bit and haven’t done a whole lot…But I think I like him; He is a bit of a jerk, but like, the endearing kind of jerk, and he’s really cute.” Zaya chuckled a bit at the situation she was now in; This was the first time she was ever talking about boys with a friend. Heck, this was the first time she was really getting a good hangout session with a friend in general.
“And I know I really should be focusing on my studies first and foremost…But I can’t help it! I mean, whenever I think about him even my quirk acts weird, filling me with more energy than normal…”

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... If Zaya could see the inner workings of Jun's mind, she would see the cogs grinding. None of this made any sense to her. "I don't understand. If he's a jerk, then why do you like him? Is he like Kurokami Gen, where underneath all that smarm and attitude he possesses the potential to do good to society?" It was the only reason why Jun remotely tolerated Gen. He was an unbearable butthole, but despite his claims that he was in this business for the money she felt like he could do some level of good. She hoped. Jury was still out. What was even stranger was that Zaya's quirk was, apparently, stronger whenever she thought about him. Wait...was she...? "Using people like that as a means to an end is unethical," Jun says, thinking. "But...that is a weird interaction. If whatever it is you're feeling towards him is fueling your quirk, then that means you wouldn't have to get charged up by using other people. And if you're not directly draining this guy, then...I suppose it's alright. What's his name? We can maybe use this in the future while training, get a better sense on how this...whatever it is, how it better interacts and how to better train with it." In case Zaya hadn't noticed...the obvious had flown over Jun's head. zaya

“Is he like…Who?” Unfortunately, Zaya had no idea who Jun was referring to. “I mean, yeah, underneath his jerky-ness, he really does mean well, and he is training to be a hero…Like, he isn’t the most approachable guy…I guess he’s like a hedgehog…Or more accurately, a skunk.” Pausing, the girl realized her analogy probably didn’t make any sense. “Like, everyone wants to avoid skunks and thinks they’re awful, but they’re actually really cute and cuddly if you bond with them; I know some people even keep them as pets.”

Too many videos of pet skunks had gone to her head. Still, hopefully her friend would get the comparison.
Listening to Jun, Zaya couldn’t help but think about if a partner would actually help her in the field. “I mean, I guess he helps charge my power; Doesn’t make me stronger, but potentially would help my endurance, prevent me from running out of juice quicker. That’s just a hypothetical though, maybe its my emotions manipulating my mood…” Stopping, Zaya contemplated if it was wrong to think of her crush as just being a means to an end to help her in battle; Surely that wasn’t what normal couples do.

“Alright, I’ll tell you his name…But you’d better keep it to yourself, alright?” Taking a deep breath, Zaya tapped her fingers together nervously. “Homura; His name is Homura. His quirk is mouth hand things; Kinda creepy to look at at first, but I got used to it. You wouldn’t happen to know him, would you?”

"People keep those as pets...?" It definitely was weird. Wait. Emotions manipulating her mood? That made Jun think even harder. If it improved her endurance, then that was just as good. Honestly, it was possibly much better than just upping the strength of her lightning. However, it was still concerning as she was benefiting in some way. "I don't know him," she says, shrugging. "Mouth hand quirk stuff sounds really really weird, though. But I don't get it, if he's nasty and smells bad then why do you hang around him?" zaya

“Yeah, I mean they remove their stink glands so they can’t spray anyone, but apparently pet skunks are really affectionate, like cats.”
Maybe that’d be a pet to consider after graduation. Maybe.

“Yeah, his quirk is a bit odd, but I’ve seen way odder. He seems to have a good handle on using it at least.”
Zaya smirked at Jun once again misinterpreting her words; It seemed like Jun was a bit dense; Book smart, but not street smart.
“No, he doesn’t actually smell bad, I was just using that as an analogy; He smells kind of nice, actually.”
Pausing, the girl tried to think of a better way to relay what she meant to Jun.
“Haven’t you ever met someone that you didn’t like at first, but then grew to like, but like, not really like all the way? A frenemy? Is that the word for it?”
Somehow, she’d made her words potentially even more confusing than before.
“Well, in any case, we did help rescue a cat together. I dunno, I think I do want to see him again…Just…Nervous is all.”
Putting her phone back into her pocket, Zaya realized they’d spent all this time gossiping, rather than actually studying, which is the whole reason she’d been invited over in the first place. It wasn’t like she was eager to study, but she did want to get her mind off of boys, and not stress about it…For now.
“Hey, so uh…What are the upcoming exams about anyway?” She asked cluelessly.
“I’ve done…Like no studying…”

Closest thing to that was Gen, but Jun was pretty sure she hated him. All arrogant and full of himself. Bet he couldn't even run a mile. "...No. I don't have anyone like that. Closest person like that I know is a classmate that I'm surprised is still even enrolled. Also, they remove the stink glands? They don't have a permanent smell about them?" Jun was no biologist, as evidenced by her kiss comment earlier. The only time she had really seen a skunk was at the zoo, but she was more interested in some of the other animals there. Which lead to her next statement, her brow furrowing. She slid one of the books towards Zaya, letting out a sigh. "Everything? Please tell me you didn't fall asleep in your classes...again." zaya,
