That little shit, now she had really done it. Not only was she kicked out of Shiketsu for being reckless, but she was going out to an active danger zone, presumably to use her quirk in public, which she wasn't authorized for last time Masao checked. Ylva was going to be the death of her at this rate, and if not she would be very surprised if she didn't have any gray hairs by her final year at school because of her. She didn't like it, but Ylva was her responsibility and she couldn't sit by while she rampaged around Tokyo Bay with her volatile ice powers.

Arriving on the scene, Masao spotted a familiar face among the crowd of people getting evacuated. ''Helt-san, are you okay?'' She both was and wasn't surprised that Freja had somehow gotten caught up in this. Out of all the first years, save for maybe Farrin and Emilia, Freja seemed to get into the most trouble. ''I'm okay, I'm okay, I fought for as long as I could.'' Freja smiled apologetically. ''Idiot. Did you happen to see Ylva Riis?'' She crossed her arms, Freja's stern talking to could wait until she had dragged Ylva back to campus. ''..Ylva?'' Freja blinked her eyes. ''She has an ice quirk, she's a second year student who recently moved from Shiketsu.'' Whichever part it was that Freja recognized it seemed to finally click. ''Oh! I saw her, she's-''

So long as no sea monsters were attacking her she wasn't going to use her armor. It would be a waste of her quirk and she was probably going to need every power reserve she could muster to get her and Ylva out of this mess. With Freja's directions she headed further into the Bay, following any traces of Ylva's powers along the way. ''Riis-san!'' She would call out periodically. Unbelievable. Why did the school pick her? Why couldn't it have been someone else on the hero course? If Ylva was injured or god forbid, had hurt a civilian, she was in for a verbal lashing.

There was something cathartic about being able to use her quirk freely without having to consider the potential collateral damage OR dealing with the rules and regulations. She didn't care much for following orders, especially not from someone like Andy but she did study the UAU handbook back to back to make sure she didn't do anything to get herself kicked out. Luckily, there was a section that detailed that in times of crisis, a UAU student was entirely authorized to use their quirk for self-defense or support of the community.[break][break]

This technically was about protecting civilians,right? She thought to herself as she froze a half-eel-ball creature to its core. With a slight push it would fall over and shatter into pieces and Ylva would step over it as she moved onto the next creature. As she continued on her warpath she heard the faint echo of a very familiar and irritating voice. 'Andy' she thought as she shook her head slowly with it being clear that the injured girl was likely the one who gave her a nudge in the right direction. Since Ylva knew she was well within her rights to be here, she didn't bother replying; instead, she was ambushed by a school of fish with stubby legs. [break][break]

It would be just her luck to have the student she was placed in charge of go running into a warzone just to get killed by monsters immediately. Either Ylva was part of some sick twisted plot, hired by her parents to sabotage her career, or she just wanted to see her suffer. Either way, she was a menace all around, but a menace she couldn't afford to have get hurt on her watch.

''Riis-san!'' She finally found her, charging forward, using her quirk to cover her foot in armor, creating greaves to protect herself as she kicked the stubby-legged fish away. Panting, she turned to look back at Ylva with a mixture of anger and frustration. ''You willingly came out here, knowing exactly what kind of situation you were walking into. I would like to enquire as to why, and your explanation better be good.'' She huffed, still a little out of breath from running all over Tokyo Bay looking for this little goblin. Once her initial anger with Ylva had calmed down a bit she looked her up and down. ''Are you injured? We should start heading back. I don't care how capable you are, we are not staying out here past sundown.'' She motioned for Ylva to follow her, although even making their way back to safety wasn't going to an easy feat. The place was crawling with monsters. ''You can count yourself lucky if all we get is detention once we get back.'' Because no matter what, she had to relay this situation to the school, even her own recklessness following Ylva into deep sea horror hell. Was her recklessness contagious? When was the last time she had gone this far for someone else?

As she finished freezing the little monsters biting at her heels, she would turn around, staring unblinkingly at Andy as she went off with her usual tirade about being responsible and staying out of trouble. Ylva would do nothing but reach into her shirt and take out a paper signed by the administration detailing her trip out her and she'd hand it to Andy "Had anyone known things would turn into...this. I doubt I would have gotten permission for a field trip. This was just sightseeing" she'd brush off some dust from her sleeve "Of course I'm not injured. There isn't anything out here that could do that." she'd point to the trail of shattered sea creatures she'd made while on her 'rampage' "I won't get detention because UAU rules authorize quirk usage in the case of an emergency and allow full operation in an emergency if there are civilians in need of evacuation." As she was about to head back into the fray, she paused momentarily before opting to air out her annoyance the best way she knew how. "You should already know this, Andy."[break][break]

Not only was she trying to be smart with her, but she was doing it while staying within the bounds of the rules that had been put out for students like them. Those rules were fine on paper, but when they applied to every student, it was also on a case-by-case basis. Someone like herself? She would undoubtedly follow them and not do anything reckless, but this woman... She had been kicked out of Shiketsu, rejected for being exactly that. Reckless, stupid, irresponsible. How could someone like her be trusted to keep anyone safe during an emergency situation? The real reason she had come out here was to use her powers and get away with it. She was conniving, maybe even evil. Why had she been paired with this monster again?

''It's Ando. Masao Ando!'' Was she mocking her? This brat had no right being on the hero course, but she couldn't exactly fight her and force her to go back with her either. Not unless she wanted to skirt around the rules or try to redefine where to draw the line. If she did that Ylva would most certainly use it to her advantage. ''I'll humor your little outing, but I cannot let you go off on your own. Where are we headed next?'' She started following Ylva when a giant worm with incisors popped out of the ground, roaring before it descended on Ylva trying to swallow her whole.

Andy was such a pain in the ass that anything that could get under her skin was considered karma in Ylva's eyes. She didn't like the idea of having a retainer and she sure as hell didn't like it also being the most anal student in the entire school.[break][break]

As Ylva walked, she commented on Andy's incorrect approach to her lack of authority. "You don't need to humor me. You can go I'm choosing to exercise my rights as a UAU student. I'd review the handbook again if you haven't." It looked like they wouldn't have too far for the next target-a giant worm with very sharp-looking teeth. It descended on Ylva without hesitation, and she would return in kind by freezing the air above her and holding out her palm to catch the ice that would land, forming a large, thick disc. She would keep applying more and more of her energy to the air above and use her strength to hold the disc in place as a shield. If Andy did nothing she would just freeze the whole worm herself, but it didn't hurt to see what she could actually do in crisis. [break][break]

''Masao Ando is my name. Not Masao Andy.'' She retorted, holding her ground even if it was a silly detail to get caught up on. She had already been dealing with her own things today and hearing that she had to do some more extreme Ylva babysitting hadn't put her in a good mood to begin with. The fact that this little gremlin was sassing her back? It only made it worse. Usually she felt like even if she didn't see eye to eye with people she still got where they were coming from, but Ylva? She might as well be from Mars, because she was never going to understand her.

''I know the handbook, and I'm not going anywhere.'' She replied firmly. ''If you refuse to go back with me so be it, but I cannot go back to campus until I know you're making it out of here alive. You may know the handbook or pretend you do, but I have reason to have my suspicions about you.'' Her emotions were getting away from her, but she didn't stop to think things over before speaking. ''Or did Shiketsu not expel you with good reason? So far you have not exactly exhibited model student behavior. Troublemaker gets in trouble when an attack occurs in the city. No one would bat an eye, but at the end of the day the responsibility for your safety falls on me.''

Even though Ylva could definitely handle this monster on her own, Masao was a woman of her word and charged ahead, slamming shoulder first into its body as she tried to shove it away, or hold it down so Ylva could freeze it like she had done so many other creatures today.

[attr="class","nikki109"]Ylva wasn't facing Andy so she wasn't able to see the smirk that went with her snark "I didn't say Masao Andy, Andy." she would keep the same inflection knowing that this would bother Andy even more if she had been actively defiant. It was the little victories against this big nerd, after all. "I'd be more concerned for your survival rather than mine." She had been fighting for a while now and wasn't even remotely tired. The talk about Shiketsu did get her to turn around even as she held the weight on the worm creature up with her own strength. Surely Andy knew about her reasoning for being forced out of the school, so why would she even bother? "I have nothing negative to say about Shiketsu. They did what they had to do." She hadn't brutalized that student for no reason but that reason would not be shared with Andy today...nor ever. She would drop her shield once Andy knocked it over and then do her usual thing and freeze it in place. Perhaps it was because Andy was frustrating her or just to be efficient. Once she did, she would stomp on it hard, shattering it into large chunks.[break][break]

Perhaps that was a mistake. Ylva could feel multiple water sources arriving from multiple directions- an ambush. The worm was bait, and soon, the duo would find themselves face to face with nearly two dozen shrimp-like creatures, each the size of a dog and with a large claw. [break][break]

''Really? I'm touched. And it's still Masao Ando.'' She was doing it deliberately, she knew she was. Ylva wasn't so bad at Japanese that she couldn't pronounce her name right, she was just doing it deliberately to get to her and the worst part was it was working. ''I'm sure they did. So you wouldn't exactly call yourself a model student?'' It was almost like the real battle was actually their back and forth and not whatever monsters were descending on them as they made their way through Tokyo Bay.

Ylva beat her to the punch, or rather, stomp as she shattered the frozen creature. It wasn't evident at first, but the girls soon came to realize they had made a mistake when that wasn't the end of the fight. ''As a hero course student you're used to situations like this, are you not?'' Seeing the much smaller army of shrimps, Masao manifested a helmet to go over her head to protect her face and long hair more closely. It also altered her voice to sound more androgynous than it already was. ''Then pray tell, what is your plan? Walk around the bay until you get bored? If that's all that is on our to-do list, may I suggest looking out for civilians and making sure they're safe along the way? It's the only way we can possibly salvage this disastrous walk of yours into something meaningful.'' She got between Ylva and the shrimps and took the first charge, making sure to draw as much attention to herself as she could to protect her ice cold jailer.

She would take this opportunity to start freezing the creatures that Andy missed. They were pretty resilient as she had to freeze them more than once to stop their advance—an easy enough task for someone like her. "The plan is eradication. There will be others to focus on saving civilians, so I'll be terminating these things." She would walk up and smash more of the creatures until there were only a few left. "I've already done my part and I'll continue to do it until these things are gone. You can go deal with civilians if you're that concerned Andy"[break][break]

''Whether it is easy or hard to remember is hardly the point. It's about basic respect. Let me remind you, Riis-san, that your name is foreign to me too. Yet I don't stoop to your level and come up with petty nicknames.'' It was absolutely getting under her skin in every way Ylva wanted and intended. Perhaps that was part of why she loathed this woman so much. Somehow, they had barely even known each other for a month, but she knew how to press her buttons and get under her skin. Usually she didn't let anyone get that close to her. Show any signs of weakness or hesitation. Was she starting to slip? Was Ylva truly driving her mad? ''And that is precisely why you exhibit the response from others that you do.'' She punctuated harshly. It wasn't really a secret that Ylva was a strong personality, and you'd have to look hard within the student body to find anyone that actually got along well with the girl, or so Andy wagered.

''You're unbelievable..'' Her expression was hidden by her armor's helmet, but the contempt in her tone was clear as day. Turning on her heels she sprinted towards a nearby civilian and checked up on them. Thankfully they weren't injured, but just scared of the whole situation. With some quick, rehearsed reassurance she sent the civilian on their way towards the shelter before rushing towards someone that was unconscious and bleeding from their head. Undoing her armor on her right arm for a split second, she tore part of her own clothes to act as makeshift bandage to help stop some of the bleeding momentarily. ''How much longer until these things are eradicated, Riis-san?'' She called out. She hated her roommate, but she had to put that aside when lives were at risk.

Other than that she truly didn't care and felt neutral about everyone else she'd met aside from Andy and that cat...thing. Was this payback for her being sent that thing? Absolutely. Well, 50/50. She would freeze another group of smaller creatures, moving forward at a pace that she was comfortable with. Any faster, and she risked the ice melting, and they would surely attack her all at once. "In this area, this should be the last one." She would freeze a mid-sized creature and then stomp on it, shattering it to pieces. Endearment. Yeah right. There was no endearment between them, Ylva had been nothing but hostile since day one and no matter which approach she took, things just didn't get better. Like talking to a wall. A wall consisting of nothing but ice, personality as cold as her feelings. At this rate, was Ylva ever going to become a presentable and proper hero? She doubted it. She undeniably had skill, even Masao could see that, but what she more than made up for in power she lacked in people skills and empathy. She breathed a small sigh of relief when Ylva destroyed the last monster of this area. That meant they could both escort these civilians back and finally get out of here-

She stood her ground, but she didn't have the time to argue with her roommate when the civilians were right there. Arguing any further and she could risk all their lives.
