I HAVE PROMISES TO KEEP
AND MILES TO GO BEFORE I SLEEP
Again Rhys looked to Kioko. This time there was a reaction. Dark lips pulled back to bare blanched fangs in a wicked smile. “You’re applying to be the personal assistant for the CEO of Sovereign Technologies.” Kioko was throwing Rhea directly into a pit of vipers with far more ill intent than she had. Not that Rhea would know that. Kushiki Suigetsu’s alternate identity as a Villain himself and head of the Umbra Syndicate was known to very few. Kioko had found out the hard way. Through blood.
“As for who will be interviewing you, I don’t know.”
There was only so much intel Kioko could gather from the outside. She had only been able to find out about the job opening, if it could even be called that, through contacts Rhys still had within the company. It wasn’t the type of listing that would be promoted through traditional job boards. Obviously neither of them could or wanted to apply for the position. Hence why Rhea had been recruited.
“What we do know is that the CEO is looking for a… particular type of employee as a personal assistant. Think less secretary and more… escort. The interview isn’t taking place at one of their facilities. It’s being held at a gentlemen’s club.”
Even Kioko couldn’t help but roll her eyes at that.
“Hopefully I should be able to hear them as well if all goes as intended and regarding what information you're fishing for...” How did one say intel that would help bring down both an international tech based megacorporation and a criminal empire without scaring off the bait for the hook? By being vague. "We're looking for anything off the record on the CEO."

| if i'm a danger to myself Just think what I could do to you |
The can of worms that Rhea just opened.
Not only was this sounding like a long-term plan, it was in a place that Rhea was sorely dressed for and she had nothing to change into. Well, apart from the bathing suit she kept in her bad if and when she felt like a quick stop by the beach, but with how things have been hectic there that wasn't happening anytime soon. "I see...I'm going to go out on a limb and assume this isn't going to be a one-and-done kind of outing." Already her mind was racing. She didn't know exactly what this bead did, and now with this new information she had to discard at least half of the means to inject it into her victim. At the very least, it wasn't the CEO himself...last thing she needed to be implicated in was questionable means of dealing with him.
Although, if this job posting was at a gentleman's club, she could potentially use that to her advantage. While her sundress was meant to shout cute and approachable, she could potentially modify it before they got there...no, that'd be too much effort. She'd have to go in as is. It did mean that she could be a bit more verbose in her questioning. "I'll do the best I can. What is the name of this club?" 0 Victims

I HAVE PROMISES TO KEEP

Kioko’s brow furrowed in the presence of the unexpected though the reaction was obscured beneath the mask adorning the upper half of her face. Rhea seemed to have resigned herself to a fate that Kioko had already eschewed in the planning stages. The public might have whispered the word monster in her wake during the hours she was Kioko, but even as the Villain Meliora, Kioko had not wanted to subject anyone to such a fate—not even on behalf of her crusade for vengeance. The degradation alone of someone forced into the position violated what was left of her morals, not to mention the danger of remaining in proximity to someone that willingly orchestrated the deaths of their own family. Kioko could only imagine what Suigetsu would do to those not of his own blood if he found them a hindrance or a danger to his goals. That being said, having someone on the inside for a longer period of time…
“That wasn’t the plan, but,” Kioko started, tentatively tasting the idea’s potential as it slithered out over her ophidian appendage, “-if the roles of espionage and escort are something you’d like to extend beyond the interview today, we could renegotiate the terms of our pact. You would stand to gain a financial boon from the actual job itself from my understanding of the pay attached to it. One that would likely mean you’d be set for quite a while in terms of money.”
Her conscience prickled at the back of her throat like she had swallowed a vial of acid, so she added, “But let me clear, it is an extremely dangerous route to go. Even considering our shared line of work at large. My original proposal requires only a one time interaction for the interview. With this knowledge, the decision is yours. As for the name of the club…”
Kioko paused for the briefest of moments to settle her distaste for what was to come. Even behind the mask, the rolling of her eyes was obvious. “Midas Manor.” The words spoken were in English. Not uncommon given it was the international language of business and the man they were after was entrenched in the tech industry. That didn’t mean Kioko found the name any less stupid.

Rhea let out a hum, considering the option. It would be nice to be looked after, to have some level of wealth in her home again. Her father would ask a million questions for sure, but it wouldn't be under her own terms. If there is one thing she wanted out of this life, it was her independence, and as much as her father tried to restrict it she had the freedom to do whatever she pleased. That included chasing her revenge.
"I believe I have a better understanding of your plan then," she says, glancing over at Meliora. "Being in that position in the long term benefits you greatly, and if you say is true that I will be cared for then I could leave my own employer for the time being. However, it will have to be something I will think about. While it is not the greatest, I enjoy my work, and I enjoy the freedom that it entails. It also allows me to do my own investigating."
The name of the club made her pause, reaching up to rub at her chin. "It certainly sounds <boujee>," she says, dipping a little into English. "If it's anything similar to what I'm used to dealing with, it should be a breeze to navigate." In truth, she wasn't sure. This was new grounds, and if it was seedier than the Oasis Lounge then she'd be a fish out of water. 0 Victims

The choice was a difficult one to make. Money made the world go round. Suffering from a lack of financial security had driven people to do far more dangerous things, at least in immediately obvious ways, but every individual was different. What they would risk for money varied. That Rhea needed time to think on it was no surprise to Kioko. If anything, it was a vote of confidence in favor of the Siren. The task at hand required finesse and wit, not bravado and brawn.
“Very well. I’ll do my best to navigate you through the interview process so that the option remains open,” Kioko said as the car began to slow. If Rhea looked outside, she’d notice that none of the buildings beyond the SUV’s windows bore any signage or indication of what they were. This was common with high end establishments where you had to know someone to even know it existed. The vehicle parked in an alley between two such buildings.
“We’re still some distance away.” Kioko handed Rhea a third item. “You’ll need to pretend that this is your personal phone.” Rhys had been planning this on his own for far longer than Kioko had expected. The phone records went back to when she had been incarcerated.
“The call history is exclusively constructed of correspondence to and from luxury beauty and wellness establishments, expensive restaurants and venues, designer clothing stores, and chauffeur services. We’re waiting for the latter. It will take you to the club. This is your last chance to ask questions and confirm that you have everything you need.”

Rhea took the phone, though she did something unexpected: she handed Kioko her personal phone. "I ask you don't tamper with this, or look through it's contents. I have a few things in there that I can confirm have flustered many a person of any gender." While she was hyping up its contents, it was a deterrent so that Kioko wouldn't go digging. Rhea didn't have many friends, but the few she did have had ties to the underground in some way shape or form. Last thing she needed was to have a confirmed link floating about.
She let her hair down, giving her a mildly more wild appearance before taking a breath. "If things begin to go wrong and I don't see an out, I'll use the phrase, 'written in metal'. To go along with the theme we seem to have." She didn't expect Kioko to get it, but she didn't have to. Rhea would get out of the car, adjusting her dress a little as she walked towards the door. It was a little difficult to make out which one it was, but she managed. Upon seeing the bouncer she flashed him the sweetest of smiles, leaning forward a little. "Hi! I received a call for an interview, may I come in?" Rhea might not be as well endowed as other women, but she was of the opinion that what mattered more was how one applied their wiles. 0 Victims
