Zenkai groaned as he walked down the street, the pro hero hero they were patrolling with was a few blocks away securing another area of the route.

Did Zenkai know anything about his new companion? Absolutely nothing beyond her name. He had met her on his way off of Campus to go to his grandfather's hero agency for his internship and after getting Freja's name he decided to drag her along with him to his internship, partially out of spite, partially because he didn't want to do this alone. He didn't know the exact ratio but it was probably about 50%/50% at this point and besides his granddad told him to make friends and what better way to become friends than to be stuck on patrol together?

"So...Like...What's your quirk or interests or hobbies or goals or Whatever? I have no idea how people make friends anymore" Zenkai's tone was somewhere between lackluster and bored as he tried to strike up a conversation with Freja to pass the time. The Monotony of patrolling was getting to him and he was starting to get a little uncomfortable with the stares he was receiving from being in his Hero Suit. While he did like how he looked, he still didn't really understand why he needed to wear an outfit to go on patrol, Wouldn't plain clothes just be easier? It seemed like a lot of effort to him but then again, heroes needed to be flashy or something like that. "Also...Why did you want to be a Hero? No offense you look a little...Small to be one"

''..Yeah hey, no problem.'' She smiled nervously. There probably wasn't a single bigger contrast between the student body than her and Zenkai. They were huge. Tall, muscular, probably a kickass quirk to boot with what sounded like a pretty influential family backing them up. Freja on the other hand? Well, she wasn't short, but she could easily look it walking next to Zenkai. She was also quirkless, had no influential family to speak of whatsoever. Part of her wondered how she had even gotten in this situation in the first place.

What he asked next left her a bit speechless. ''Th-That's a lot of questions..'' Truth be told she had no clue either! She certainly wouldn't have led with asking about quirks, but she got that it was kind of an easy icebreaker for a lot of people. ''Quirk? Got none.'' She held up a zero with her hand. ''I like flowers and uh..'' This was getting a bit complicated, should they answer as Freja, or Elias? Maybe it was better to just say something stereotypically feminine and girly so that Zenkai didn't grow suspicious of her? But what reason would he have to grow suspicious anyway?! There was a long pause after her 'uh' as it dawned on Freja just how boring she was. ''Video games.. What about you uh, Hatake-san was it?'' Memorizing last names was something else when she came from a culture where everyone was referred to by first name and only first name, unless there were multiple people with the same first name in any one gathering.

''I-I do? I'm sorry I- it was a promise I made.'' She rubbed the back of her head, feeling like she needed to apologize for looking small. ''Are you doing it because of family or..''

[attr="class","ZenkaiExposition"]Damn, this girl was awkward as fuck wasn't she? He thought he was just asking a few simple questions but apparently he had accidently started an interrogation. At first glance it looked like she was just uncomfortable with the questions being asked but after a while it just seemed like she was trying to find the perfect answers. It was pretty weird that she was trying to go through such lengths to try and... impress him? find common ground? come up with answers he'd like? It was probably something along those lines, she didn't need to try so hard, he didn't care that much.

"No quirk?" Out of everything the girl said, that was definitely by far the most interesting part. It wasn't every day that you found someone trying to be a hero who had no quirk what-so-ever. Usually people like that would just join the police force right? "That's pretty cool, you must be pretty awesome to have gotten into this school with no quirk." Zen grinned at his companion "Or determined...Or stupid, take your pick but you've definitely got guts being out here With no quirk, no one can say that isn't impressive." While Zenkai's voice might have sounded more bored than impressed he still meant every word he said.

"As for me, Video games, anime, manga, food, that kind of Jazz" It was the kind of surface level question that he was used to responding to, in fact it's why he asked them to Freja in the first place. Most of the time people just shot the same softball questions right back at him. The last question she asked posed a bit more of a problem.

Zen Walked around the public square where people were eating and playing and talking. He thought about the question for a few seconds before responding "Yeah, Granddad wants to keep the agency in the family so, it's up to me I guess, I don't really care that much but I guess it's half decent job security" He shrugged as his eyes scanned the crowds looking for potential danger.

She was expecting Zenkai to laugh at her when she said she had no quirk, or at the very least insult her or tell her she was lying. She had pretty much speedrun meeting the bullies of UAU by implying she was quirkless at the orientation, but it wasn't like she could just run from it all either. Which was why part of her was pleasantly surprised when he actually complimented her, thought it was impressive she was out here in the field without a quirk. It was a little hard to tell how much of it he meant since he sounded bored out of his mind, but she chose to take it as genuine. ''Whatever it was, or is, it's something that got me into the school.'' She shrugged, returning the grin. She was probably the most bothered by not knowing. Why had she passed? What specific quality did she possess that made her worthy? ''I appreciate you not laughing.''

''That's a good kind of jazz. They all sound like the kind of relaxing activities you'd want to do in your free time.'' She kept a look out in front and to the side of her as they walked and talked, something Freja had become quite used to from her days on the streets of Copenhagen. ''I never get how people get into the intense stuff. Parachuting, daredevil stunts, that kind of thing?'' She looked back up at Zenkai for the first time in a while. ''It's not relaxing at all.''

With a baseball bat resting over one shoulder she listened to Zenkai as he talked about the family business. Hopefully she hadn't accidentally dug into a sensitive topic there, usually students asked each other why they wanted to be a hero all the time. ''I see.'' It didn't sound like the whole story. She could be wrong, but it sounded like there was more going on there. She couldn't fault Zenkai from keeping secrets, though. Everyone had secrets to keep. ''Are you from a bigshot hero family? I haven't been in Japan for long so I'm still catching up on all the big names.'' She suddenly tensed up as she seemed to notice something ahead of them. She could only assume Zenkai had seen it too, since he was not only taller than her, but probably a lot more aware because of his quirk or something. Quirked people usually had all the advantages. ''Did you see that?'' She kept her tone of voice casual, but tightened the grip around her bat.

[attr="class","ZenkaiExposition"]Zenkai nodded lazily along with Freja's words, it was honestly beyond him why someone would laugh at an individual who could get into one of the best hero universities in the world without a quirk. That was an impressive feat all on it's own "Why would I laugh at you? That shit's impressive" The titan made a mental note to keep an eye Freja just in case she needed some help, she didn't look like the type that stuck up for herself. Zen wasn't about to beat anyone up for her but he would go out of his way to make fun of their micro peni until they left her alone.

"Yeah...No, sounds like too much work" The titan yawned "Don't know why anyone would go through all the hassle to potential hurt themselves" That was partially a lie, while skydiving and doing crazy stunts weren't his cup of tea, he had been cooking up some interesting plans with Kei to spice up college life and almost all of them involved a risk of injury. He'd make sure to at least extend an invite to Mario karts to Freja, she'd probably decline but they ere friends now apparently so it would be rude if he didn't

The conversation naturally shifted to his family, an uncomfortable subject for the enlightened one. He didn't want to explain the shenanigans that was the last four months that lead up to him being enrolled in the university, nor did he want to explain that he'd only just been introduced to his mother's side of the family which did indeed seem to be some big shot hero fam. "Yeah som-"

The golden boi never got to finish his sentence as his eyes locked onto the situation that Freja had pointed out. Right in front of them a crowd had gathered as a man with a Katana arm held a poor old lady hostage as he tried to make his escape after robbing the ladies store. It was a chaotic situation at best and without any police or other heroes around it would no doubt be up to the pair to stop what was going on. Great...Actual work.

"Of course we have to deal with this" The titan groaned as he stretched out "Alright, here's the plan, I'll distract him and you come from behind and wack him over the head with your bat, sound good?" Zen hoped it was agreeable since he had absolutely no other ideas up his sleeve to stop this dude.

''Dunno. Not everyone thinks that way. I'm more used to people laughing simply at the idea of being quirkless. You'd think quirks had existed for all of human history with how those types see the world.'' She replied, her tone pretty cold. It was her lived truth, what she experienced every day at school and out in society, but especially at school since there seemed to be a fixation on quirks and training quirks to become strong heroes.

''Right? Not for me anyway.'' She took another look up at them before adding. ''But it kinda looks like it would've been in your wheelhouse judging from your build.'' Tall, muscular, probably had a personal training regiment named 'Hell on Earth' or something insane like that. Maybe this was just her narrowminded biases, but Zen absolutely looked like the type who wasn't averse to doing dangerous stunts. Then again, there was the yawning. Maybe they were just too tired and couldn't be bothered to do dangerous things? Anyway, this was just like her brain, to go into overdrive and overthink every little thing, to the point that she was mostly definitely mischaracterizing them. The downside to having essentially two sets of memories and thought processes constantly running inside her head. ''You seem tired, d-did you not sleep well?''

Oh my god, was that guy holding a katana??? Well that was kind of insane. Stuff like this was really just commonplace for a pro hero wasn't it? ''W-Who me?? Why me?'' She pointed an index finger back at herself, unsure as she looked up at Zen. Wasn't he like, way stronger than her? What if she was too weak to perform a sneak attack, what if she hesitated, what if he cut her hands off with his katana.

''O-Okay.. Let's do it?'' She wasn't sure, she didn't believe in herself, but she believed in Zen. Besides, innocent lives were on the line. That was enough to motivate her to get over her own self-doubts. ''You get his attention, I'll whack 'em when he isn't looking.'' She said, beginning to circle around the crowd so that she could approach the scene from the side opposite Zenkai. Her heart was pounding like crazy. She was a complete beginner and shit like this was already going down?

[attr="class","ZenkaiExposition"]Zenkai didn't have the heart to tell the girl that his build was mostly thanks to his quirk, or at least that's what he assumed. It took very little for the titan to get into shape and maintain it, honestly he was more of a fan of sitting around and doing nothing than working out or patrolling or doing absolutely anything at all. Unfortunately being a hero and a student meant that he needed to actually do work and this was apart of it.

There was no time for Zen to explain this all to his partner once the chaos kicked off. Their conversation would have to take place later, right now they had more important things to do. One of those important things, at least on Zen's list was to make sure his battle buddy was in the right state of mind. It seemed like years of being teased and laughed at had done some damage to her self esteem. That didn't sit right with the enlightened one, Freja was strong in her own right regardless of what anyone else said, she just needed to see it for herself.

"Oi" The golden boi grabbed onto Freja's shoulder before bending down to look her in the eyes "You're a badass with a baseball bat, you have no reason to be scared even if that dude's arm is a Katana" Zen gave Freja a pat on the shoulder to send her off "Don't doubt yourself I have all the trust in the world, you're going to do great"

With the impromptu motivational speech over Zenkai was left to do his part. The titan let out a sigh as he approached the man and his hostage keeping his hands up and in sight "Hey there bud! No need to bring the old lady into it, I'm sure if you let go of her we can get out out just fine!" Of course this was an obvious lie, they were there now which left the villain with only one choice now: Jail.

"Yeah right! You're a hero aren't you? Do you think I'd really believe that you'd let me get away?" Zen let out a sigh before chuckling "I mean, as long as you let the lady go and fuck off I don't really care, I don't want to be stuck with any paperwork! what's your name bud? I'm Zen, it's a pleasure to meet you" The titan spoke, hoping to delay the man long enough for Freja to get into position.

Something struck Freja as she was visualizing the path she had to take in her mind. Sneak the long way around and get into position. Zenkai hadn't mentioned anything but having a quirk. They had asked about Freja's and she had posed the same question back to them, but they only replied with their interests. Surely if her patrolling buddy had a quirk, wouldn't just blasting the guy with their quirk be the best, most efficient path forward? Why did Zenkai say they could be the distraction, they were way more built than Freja too...

Was it just a way to include her? Taking pity on the quirkless girl? She hoped it wasn't, but she couldn't shake the feeling that it might be. Not like any of that mattered now, she could question them all she wanted after they had deescalated this situation without any casualties. Now she just needed to-

''Oi.''

She looked down at their hand on her shoulder, then back up at Zenkai. ''What?'' Badass with a baseball bat? Had Zenkai seen how much of a mess she was?? Maybe their definition of badass was just that different. ''Uh-'' She really wasn't expecting that. Not from a presumably quirked peer and especially not after confessing to being quirkless. ''Thanks? Um.. You too!'' The last part was a bit of a whisper yell, as she was overly careful to not draw attention to the both of them before their big moment. Now she had even more thoughts on her mind. Who was Zenkai really? What a mysterious character.

When Zenkai moved in it finally clicked. They were the distraction because of how they looked. Zenkai was tall, hard to miss, fit and she bet they could be intimidating if they wanted to. By comparison, Freja was perfect for her role too. She would blend in with the crowd exactly because she looked so ordinary. No quirk that affected her physical features, just a tall woman with a resting expression that would make you think she was on the brink of breaking from her long days at the office.

Keeping her bat low against her leg she walked in closer. Thankfully this type of situation she actually had some experience with. Well, not this exact setup, but there was a reason she was so skilled with a bat and it wasn't because she trained in her backyard. Trying to join that gang back home, hanging out with the guys and getting into fights, maybe it had all been good for something. As she got into position Freja suddenly remembered one of the young gang leaders. Her old crush. The man that broke her heart. As she raised her bat, it was as if he was standing right before her, his arm turned into a katana, facing Zenkai, threatening an old lady. With a bitter hatred in her heart, pulsing all the way into the glare in her eyes, Freja took a swing at the villain, putting a lot more force into the blow than she had initially planned.

[attr="class","ZenkaiExposition"]Freja was absolutely perfect for her role, while Zenkai was busy keeping the villain distracted his partner vanished into the crowd blending in perfectly like one of those Assassin's in that old retro game he used to play. Soon enough the titan had lose complete track of her leaving him to do his job without giving away the batgirl's existence.

"M-my names Toshi? I mean Kanno! What does my name have to do with any of this!? I'm not going to become your friend! I ain't your 'bud'!" The villain certainly wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, the dude gave the golden boy what he assumed was his real name before making up a fake name almost a second later. It was apparently amateur hour and with every passing second it became pretty clear to Zen that this man was no professional criminal. Some heroes would probably try and deescalate the situation and get the man to calm down, maybe reevaluate his life choices and set them on the path to a brighter future. Unfortunately for Toshi, Zen was not one of those heroes.

"Alright Toshi I mean Kanno, let me tell you a little joke" Zenkai kept his hands raised, stalling the kid until Freja got into position. "Where do you go when you get hospitalized for a Peek-a-boo incident?" The Katana armed man gave Zen a quizzical look as Freja came up from behind, her bat raised "The ICU" The golden boi finished his pun just as Freja's bat came crashing down onto the dudes skull letting out a sickening CRACK. The poor villain immediately let the granny go as he crumbled to the floor, groaning and clutching his head as blood began to pool on the ground.

"I'll fucking kill you for tha-" The villain tried to threaten his attacker but was immediately cut off as Zen's foot careened into his crotch. The man let out a loud groan as he writhed around on the floor as Zenkai stood over him before motioning for Freja to come closer "Yo, Fre-bea, You should take a shot, you know for the old lady" Zen looked up and gave the old woman a wink as she gave Freja two thumbs up. "You deserve it after that amazing save"

Freja was still panting, heart beating right out of her chest as the criminal slumped over and fell to the ground. She was so scared she would have missed, that one second of error would be enough for katana arm here to cut her clean in half. ''Did I do it?'' She muttered to herself, her hands clutching the bat were still shaking. Then she looked over at Zenkai. ''Seriously? The ICU? Who has time to joke around at a time like this!'' Why did that upset her? Elias would have found a joke like that funny... Was Freja's sense of humor somehow mixing with his?

Oh. Oh my god the villain was bleeding everywhere. Had she hit him that hard? Usually she assumed she could use her full strength because most people were extra durable thanks to quirks and stuff like that. She flinched when Zen kicked him in the crotch. Yikes. That had to hurt like hell. ''Fre-bea? That's a new one.'' She looked up at Zen, before looking back down at the poor katana mugger. She weighed it for a moment, looking at the old lady before letting go of her bat. ''You know what, fuck it.'' She smirked, lining her foot up before kicking him in the nards as hard as she possibly could. They were two hero students on patrol, protecting civilians, but in a way it felt like Freja had never left that gang life. ''What if he had cut you? Getting in that close was really risky.'' She picked up her bat again and looked up at her friend. Were they friends? Probably, maybe. Zenkai hadn't laughed at her, if anything he had complimented her. That was a good start. ''Anyway, that was a pretty good distraction.'' She smiled.

Zenkai stretched out as he started to relax, grinning at Freja as she scolded him over the joke "Pretty funny right?And I timed the punch line perfectly! Besides, I needed to keep him distracted long enough for you to do your thing!" The golden boi reached out to give Freja a pat on the shoulder "Good job with that by the way, you REALLY fucked him up" It was true too, Freja had done a fantastic job of messing the villain up, honestly she was the hero, he was just the distraction.

As the cops cuffed the Villain Zen led his partner in justice away from the scene of the crime "Yeah, I figured since we were essentially best friends now I needed to give you a nickname, Fre-bae is pretty cute if I do say so myself" As they walked the titan's stomach rumbled which meant they were going to taco town for a post patrol meal. "As for being cut, eh, It would hurt but I'm pretty sure I'd be okay, at least for a little bit, besides, that wouldn't have happened. I knew you would save me before anything got out of hand, you're a hero after all...Right?" The enlightened one gave Freja a wink, he knew his plan would work...mostly.
