[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... It was only a matter of time her stress and general unhealthy lifestyle would catch up to her. It was right before finals, and the school nurse Hebiru gave her the worst command in the world. "Take a break."Jun was so close to the finish line, she couldn't just stop! That was like...like...telling Neil Armstrong he couldn't get on the rocket to the moon, or something like that. But she was mandated, and she couldn't exactly go against a mandate else she'd get her hand held the entire time. So she did what she normally did in situations like these and just piled on a massive load of potatoes at the commons, picked up a comfort drink, and sat down at a table. She was still exhausted all things considered, and so as she shoveled mashed potatoes into her mouth and zoned out she didn't realize someone was talking to her. At her? One of those. After a minute or two she blinked, looking at the blonde across from her with her spoon hanging out of her mouth. "Whait, hrow wong 'ave yew be'n dere?"Yanai Yoko

Her hand still hurt after her last training incident. Being forced to acknowledge the bandages on it every time she ate also didn't help her mood. Or every time she played video games, or read a book. In general she hated getting hurt. She was a fresh student at hero school and she already hated it here. Hated everything about the culture and the types of people it attracted. Her family wanted her to go into the hero business, but she never actually saw herself succeeding in becoming a hero. Right now she was just killing time and taking advantage of the campus amenities. Like this above average cafeteria food. She was busy slurping down some savory ramen when potato girl sat down across from her, seemingly unbothered by the antisocial vibes she was putting out. Here she thought she could have a table all to herself. Having stopped mid-slurp to stare at Jun she finished her mouthful before speaking up. ''Hey, you.'' Still nothing. Was this girl deaf or what? When she finally did respond, Yoko didn't say anything. Rather, she reached for her umbrella and opened it seconds before a dark cloud appeared over her head and started raining down on her. All whilst keeping eye contact with Jun and sending her the most judgmental stare she could muster. ''Who are you?'' She wasn't going to take another bite until she got an answer. Was potato girl a nerd, or a bully? Her gaze wandered to what Jun was eating and she grimaced with visible disgust. ''...Why potatoes?''junsuina

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun blinked, looked at the raincloud and swallowed hard. "Uh..." There was a lot for her brain to process. Did this girl just sit down...? No, it was likely Jun just wasn't paying attention. Was she some kind of weather girl...? "I...like potatoes...?" She picked up her juice box, slurping some of that down as she rubbed at one of her eyes. "Right, uh. I'm Junsuina Kanjo. I'm a second year." She looked around, alert enough to start taking note of her surroundings. "I didn't mean to disturb you, I'm on a mandated break from Gorgon-sensei...I've been told I'm pushing myself too hard. And as much as I disagree-" The memory of Momo split through her head, causing Jun to tense up before looking down. "Uh. C-can you control the weather? Or...clouds? Rain? Um." She was struggling to get the topic of conversation off of herself. It was probably her least favorite topic in the entire world. And unfortunately, she was not good at awkward encounters like this. Things could go bad at the drop of a pin. Yanai Yoko

She probably wasn't a first year... Probably. Yoko didn't care nearly enough about UAU to commit faces to memory, especially since she wasn't going to be a hero anyway. ''That much is clear.'' She continued staring at Jun, only reaching for her glass of water when she took a sip of her juice. Welp. Like it or not she was stuck talking to this girl now. ''First year.'' She pointed at herself. ''Yoko.'' She intentionally left out her last name because it was none of Jun's business and she didn't want her to connect the dots that Hebiru was her big sister. Oh, but of course that didn't save her because the next thing Jun talked about was none other than The Gorgon herself. Just her luck. ''Do you listen to everything others tell you to do? If I told you to jump off a cliff would you do it?'' She let her question hang in the air as she took a couple more bites of her ramen. ''Would you believe me if I said I'm quirkless?'' Even though the rain cloud over her head was the mother of all give aways. ''I don't control the weather. I'm having a bad day.'' This was horrible. She hated talking about Hebiru, but she also hated talking about her quirk. ''What's your quirk that's so exhausting you're forced to take breaks? Are you important or something?'' That's it. Turn the question back on her. Most people loved bragging about their quirks anyway. Cool powers that let them do whatever cool shit their little attention-seeking hearts desired. None of them understood what it was like to be one of the undesirables. junsuina

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun blinked again, the box making noises as she blew a few bubbles in it. "Well, I mean...no? But like...If I end up in the infirmary again, or someone else does because of me, I'm going to be monitored much more closely, and I can't have that." She winced a little, realizing she let a little too much information there drop. "Good to meet you! And uh..." she looked at the raincloud over Yoko. "I don't believe you...no offense. I'm sorry you're having a bad day..."She set the box down, making a face at the question. On top of talking about herself, she didn't like discussing her quirk. The better she could hold that kind of information close to her chest, the better her life would be. "I can...uh...I'm...I'm basically a Green Lantern? With extra steps?" Not many people knew that kind of stuff like she did, so it was likely she could throw Yoko for a loop. "I'm no one significant, you don't have to worry about that! I'm just...a little emotionally taxed right now." She'd shovel a few more mouthfuls of potatoes into her mouth, thinking for a moment. "Huh...these could have used a little more garlic, now that I think about it..." Yanai Yoko,

End up in the infirmary? Okay, what kind of psycho had sat down at her table today? She paused as she digested that bit of information before furrowing her brow a bit. ''...You're violent.'' She didn't say it like she was scared of her, but more like she was judging Jun heavily. ''No.'' She interjected. ''Don't be sorry. Not unless you're some almighty creator or whatever caused quirks to exist in the first place. Then I'll make you feel sorry.'' If she had a fork she would have driven it into the pork slices in her ramen with malicious intent. ''Green, huh? So like, you make green light?'' Still better than whatever she was dealing with. ''Well, harmful green light from the sounds of it. Miss No One Significant.'' Emotionally taxed. Yoko shrugged like she had just accepted the shitty fate that was being alive. ''Well yeah, we all are. Welcome to life.'' She added condescendingly before taking a long sip of her water. ''So she's violent and a chef.'' She nodded at Jun as she commented on her potatoes. ''You don't want to get hurt, or get others hurt, right? Try this: Don't use your quirk. I know you hero types are so proud of your powers and swing them around like you have something to prove, but what you don't realize is how stupid that makes you look to the rest of us.'' She had completely misread Jun here and just let her own anger take the wheel. As evidenced by the fact that her skin was slowly turning blue. junsuina

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... She held up her hands, swallowing hard. "I-I'm not, promise, just..." There was a lot she could unpack, but not only did she just meet Yoko she wasn't exactly privy to that information. "Um...just don't worry about it..."She winced a little at the harmful green light comment. It wasn't exactly nice, but then again Jun didn't ask her for niceness. She just sat here out of the blue. And the rest of the berating comments didn't exactly help, and so she just sat there, eating her potatoes. There was no point in getting upset, she just had to make it through the rest of the day. There was a lot about Jun's quirk that this girl didn't know, and a lot about Jun that she wasn't being open about. Sure, she was misjudging her, but Jun couldn't exactly find fault- wait, was her skin turning blue? Jun had paused mid-bite to stare at Yoko's arm. The girl was getting kinda worked up...but that's what made Jun pause. This was familiar. Too familiar. She dropped her fork, and almost immediately slid her tray towards the wall. Jun set both hands on the table, giving Yoko an intense stare; not the kind that spoke judgement or contention, but one of the analytical kind. "...That makes sense," she mutters, adrenaline beginning to pump through her. "Yoko, I need you to take a deep breath. Don't argue, I think you're beginning to lose control of your quirk. In through your nose, and out through your mouth. Watch me." She brought her hands off the table, palms facing up as she took a deep breath in through her nose and raised her hands along with it. On the apex she flipped her hands downward, slowly letting it out through her mouth. "It looks crazy, but trust me. Emotions are physiological, too. Take another deep breath, watch." She'd attempt to walk Yoko through the process again, hoping that the girl was getting a hold of herself. Yanai Yoko,

She didn't even realize it but she was hyperventilating, looking for the next insult to hurl at Jun. ''What?'' She growled back, her voice slightly deeper than before much to her own horror. That was when she looked down at her own hand and quickly tried to hide away in her hoodie, putting one hand over her mouth. ''Y-You didn't see anything! If you tell anyone about this you're dead!'' Anger turned to panic. ''I'm not! I have control! Fuck!'' She hissed, seeing no way out of here that wouldn't cause a scene, other than to just follow Jun's advice. At first she just breathed on her own, following Jun as she could hear her, but eventually she built up the courage to look at her. Her eyes burned with hatred, but then slowly softened as she breathed in tandem with her. She was hesitant, but she followed her hand movements too. ''Emotions are bullshit.'' But it was helping. She didn't fully transform, her skin was turning back to normal, and the cloud over her head even disappeared, letting her close her umbrella again. Even a while after she had turned back Yoko continued to breathe like that, staring down at the table as she kept her hands in her lap and a million thoughts fired through her brain. Blinking her eyes she opened her mouth a moment before looking at Jun and addressing her again. ''Who... Are you?'' She pushed her bowl aside to put both of her hands on the table just so she could lean in a little closer. ''How did you know about that... About my, thing...''junsuina

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun would breathe as long as Yoko needed her to, constant in and out. The partial transformation scared Jun a little, but quirks were weird. She didn't need a degree to recognize what was going on. Once Yoko had control again Jun reached over to her tray and pulled it back, beginning to eat her potatoes again. Like nothing had ever happened. Except Yoko had questions, and Jun would feel bad if she didn't give an explanation to what she just witnessed. "Well...you said you were having a bad day, and that was why you had a raincloud. Which I didn't piece together, until I saw you turning blue...and not the choking kinda blue, like. Blue blue. And the longer you sat there, the more it started to make sense: you've got an emotionally driven quirk." She finished off the massive pile, setting her fork on the tray as she picked up her juicebox again, hesitating. "I...I also have an emotion-based quirk. I uh, I can recognize the signs in other people that do, too..." She sucked down more of her drink, but not before muttering, "not like I can recognize it in myself first..."The sound of an empty juicebox would fill the space as she finished, letting out a satisfied sigh as she set it on the tray. "But, uh...answer's still the same. I'm Junsuina Kanjo, with the Department of Heroes. I'm...like the worst part about the department too, so..." She let out a nervous laugh, looking at the table. Good deed aside, she didn't seem to have high praise for herself. Yanai Yoko,

She wasn't sure what was more unbelievable. The fact that Jun just pulled some guru magic technique shit to help her calm down, or the fact that she treated it like it was just another Tuesday and went right back to eating. Wasn't she freaked out by her? Knowing that one of her fellow students was an actual monster that could go berserk at any time? Yoko usually didn't reveal any parts of herself other than the mean exterior, but she had to know more. ''So you did see it.'' Her pride was telling her to keep a strong front, but she still sounded a little defeated. She didn't like how perceptive Jun was. That her quirk was being read like an open book. Not until Jun confided in her that she also had an emotional quirk. ''Anger.'' She added, finishing her glass of water. ''It's anger, if you want to be specific. The cloud...'' She gestured wildly over top of her head. ''...Well, it just does whatever the fuck it wants. It shows up when I'm in a bad mood, I don't even need to be angry for that.''She shook her head when Jun introduced herself again. ''I can think of worse.'' It was her roundabout way of saying Jun wasn't that bad. It was the most direct way she allowed herself to compliment the girl that helped her get her anger under control. ''So...'' She picked away at her ramen with her chopsticks, but didn't eat anything. ''Now I realize that maybe your life is pretty shit too. If you know what all this is like.'' She looked up at Jun again. ''I'm Yoko Yanai. Department of Heroes too, if that wasn't already obvious.''junsuina

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun looked at a point on the table, attempting to process her thoughts. She knew what it was like to struggle with control over her emotions, and she was really good at panicking on demand, so. There was a lot they could sympathize with one another on. Except Jun's quirk wasn't a transformation quirk. "I...I struggle a lot with fear," she says, crossing her arms and leaning on the table. "It takes over whenever I have panic attacks. The school councilor is working with me on all that, but uh. I'm...afraid of my own potential. Especially because how bad I can hurt someone with it." She pressed her lips together. She hated showing her weakness, but there wasn't much she could really do about that when this girl had her own problems. Especially since- "-Wait, Yanai? Like...Gorgon-Yanai?" She looked at Yoko, squinting. She knew enough about Hebiru's quirk to know that it wasn't exactly standard. Buuuuuut, she could at the very least see the resemblance. "She's...your mom? Wait, Gorgon-sensei is capable of love?" She reached up to hold her head, this revelation causing part of her processor to overload. And almost immediately Jun realized that it was her bringing her up in the first place that set Yoko on the path she took a little while ago. "S-sorry, I don't mean to bring her up if you're embarrassed about her or the like," she says, turning red. "I'm still...I don't often talk with people that have legacies and all that here, it's still weird to me especially since I'm Osaka and uh, like no one I knew from there comes from hero lines or things like that..."Yanai Yoko

Never in a million years would she have thought she had anything in common with Jun considering how... Scared she looked? That wasn't the right word, but she gave off the kind of vibe that she was easily startled, or maybe she really just was stressed out. She was making a lot of assumptions, but Jun seemed like the type of person who would let others push her around and Yoko wasn't about any of that. Then again, she wasn't so bad after helping her. Not that she wanted to rely on Jun or anything. Even Jun she couldn't trust enough to let down her guard. Hearing that she struggled with fear it suddenly made a lot more sense. Yoko was a hypocrite, but she was at least self-aware enough to know that she had a perpetual grumpy face wherever she went, probably because of her struggles with anger. So naturally if someone is ruled by fear they would be a lot more scared of being scared. As grumpy as she was, it still pained Yoko a bit to see Jun struggling. ''Hey..'' She started, not really sure what she was going to say. ''That thing, that's not you. You're not your power.'' It was probably weak advice to give to Jun since she had been a student for longer and knew her quirk far better than Yoko knew her own, but this line of thought helped keep Yoko herself sane through it all. She rolled her eyes when Jun brought up the Gorgon again. It was inevitable and really Yoko had set her up for it, but she was still annoyed. ''Yeah.'' She had this conversation with others a million times before. The curse of having a famous sibling. However, of all the things Jun could have said next, Yoko was caught completely off-guard by her conclusion. ''She's my half sister, so don't worry she's not capable of love.'' Her tone was absolutely toxic talking about her sister and she did nothing to hide or mask it. ''Although you thinking she's my mom is funny, because that implies she looks a lot older to you, so you get points for that.'' While they were talking Yoko finished up her ramen that she had pushed aside earlier. ''Nothing wrong with Osaka.'' She put the empty bowl down after she was done. ''Besides, there isn't much of a legacy to the Yanai name. If there is, it's ending with me. Just talk to me like anyone else here.'' Another thing she wasn't shy of hiding was her disdain for heroism and her own family. ''So, you're the countryside girl who came to the big city to follow her dreams? Is that why you're becoming a hero?''junsuina

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Half sister, huh? That made sense. They had similar appearances, but there were enough differences between the two of them. It also made more sense considering just how...cold? Yeah, how cold Hebiru was. Jun pressed her lips together, bringing her hands together so she could fiddle with the rings on either of her middle fingers; they were unique in the fact that an outer band spun around an inner one, and the outer ones had a series of gemstones set in them. What made that weird was the fact they were rough-cut and the setting just grabbed hold of them. "It's a...real personal reason, why I'm here," she says, looking down. "Most I'll get into is I'm honoring someone. That's all." Her talks with Glepnir were forcing her to confront the past more and more, and she hated it. But if she was going to get better, then she didn't have any choice. "You're right, I'm not my power. But it's something that can be really dangerous if I'm not careful. It's a tightrope that I have to walk, especially since the more potent emotions give me my more potent constructs." She held a hand palm up, gemstones glowing as a chain began to form in her hand. It was one that looked like it could hold a pendant of some kind on, and seemed fairly fashionable if it wasn't all bright and glowy. "If I panic in the field, things like this form. N-not this small, I'm talking huge chains that you might find holding anchors on ships. And they come alive, smashing anything that gets close." She glanced up, raising an eyebrow. "Your quirk is more transformative, right? What do you transform into when you get angry?" Yanai Yoko

It was hard to not notice how Jun was fidgeting with her rings and now that she got a closer look they didn't look like regular rings. ''What are those rings about? I doubt it's just a fashion statement.'' No offense to Jun, well actually all the offense, she looked like too much of a nerd to consider wearing jewelry just for the heck of it. Especially since she was in the Department of Heroes and was training to be on the front lines like her. ''Sure, I don't need your whole story I was just curious.'' She looked at her own hand, wondering if she should try to wear rings herself. Maybe one ring wouldn't hurt? ''But that sounds about on par for a UAU student. At least in the Heroes department, I haven't talked to supports yet.'' She understood why Jun didn't just up and tell her. If it was hard to talk about then it was probably best kept secret. Yoko had secrets she wanted to keep too, so there were certain things she didn't want to talk about either. ''Yeah, yeah I get that. We're in the same boat from the sounds of it.'' She blinked her eyes, curiosity piqued at the end of Jun's sentence. ''Constructs?'' Thankfully she wasn't left in the dark for long as Jun so generously gave her a demonstration, albeit a small one. ''Fancy.'' She commented flatly, eyes on the shining gemstones. ''So that's why you said like Green Lantern.'' She had to admit even though this was just a fraction of Jun's quirk, she was jealous already. ''In other words, you have the power to create and destroy. It's up to you to handle that balance and from the sound of things it's a real pain in the neck.'' She fell silent for a bit when Jun brought the attention back to her own quirk. ''It is.'' Jun had pretty much seen her halfway transformed already so there was no use in lying. She was also interested in getting to know her a little better so trust was key. ''A pain, that's what I transform into. You have the power to create or destroy when your emotions check out. Well I don't. I only destroy.'' There was a finality to the way she said it, like this was her circumstance and nothing could ever be done about it. ''I'm not going to pretend that's harder than what you're going through, but from what I can see that's where our powers differ. I'd demonstrate...'' She gestured nonchalantly at Jun's rings with her hand, ''...but I can't exactly use it in here. I also don't use my power without a good reason, those are rules I set for myself.''junsuina

[attr="class","bmsk"] in blackest night... Jun let the chain dissipate, a light dust flying up into the air. "They're...probably the last nice thing my mom's ever going to do for me," she says, letting out a small laugh. "I wouldn't worry too much about interacting with others. With how crazy the world is getting, someone in some way is affected by this new society. Some people want to do what good they can, others are just in it for the money. I think you'll learn the hero course isn't as bad as you think it'll be." She pauses, reflecting. "The support course students are...bizarre in some way or another. I think I've only met one person there that is halfway normal, and he's a good friend. But I think it's only because his girlfriend practically adopted me."She leaned back, crossing her arms over her chest. "Demonstration here would be kinda difficult...even I can't show off some of the higher level things I can do..." She presses her lips together, thinking. "Hey, something I've been considering. I've got finals coming up, which is why I'm in the state that I'm in. But uh...if you want, when all those are over you can give me a proper demonstration." For the first time Jun would make eye contact, and in one of those rare moments of hers where she actually exuded some of those heroic traits she claims she doesn't possess. "I'm by no means a quirk expert, but if we take some time to practice in a field or the JSA then we can cut loose with no serious ramifications. How does that sound?"Yanai Yoko
