It wasn't that the line was particularly long it was more than she was worried about leaving her assigned post for too long. Sure, Sadako was covering, but who knew how long it would be before she decided to leave? With a lot of criminals walking around in the open, she hoped she would take it more seriously.

Reaching the front of the queue Retsu spotted the person she'd be paired with. Running her gaze up and down she put on a cocky grin as she walked closer.

"Ah recognize ya," she began without a care in the world. "And ah reck'n you recognize me too."

Retsu let out a snort. How ironic. A hero and a villain peacefully riding a roller coaster together. What a joke. It was as good an opportunity as any to test out whether those so called rules of non-violence in this merry perfect world where everyone was welcome would hold up to a stiff breeze.

"Must grate ta 'ave ta participate in this farce."

The fact that she recognized the hero in front of her by both name and appearance meant something. Recall wasn't a C-lister, that was for sure. But neither was Retsu herself. If a single pro hero was enough to startle her she wouldn't have gotten nearly this far. From what she knew Recall's quirk had no fancy external applications. If it came down to combat Retsu was confident her skills in close quarters could get her a victory. Hells, even if they went all out she was confident she wouldn't lose. After all she'd done, was there any chance she'd get taken out by some random pro in an amusement park?

Nah, she'd win.

Taking a seat and strapping herself in she turned to Iphi with the smuggest look that she could manage.

"But ah guess y'r stuck 'ere, huh?"

Iphi's expression would remain neutral all the while her inner mind was working in overdrive. She was digging into every bit of information she had on Bakiri Retsu. From the testimonies that students had provided running into her to the news articles of her escapades. She momentarily contemplated why there was such an emphasis on nonaggression, but if Starling Soul believed this man who was hosting Dream World had merit then who was she to argue? Compared to her she might as well have been a rookie.

She wouldn't make eye contact with Retsu and if Retsu herself could see her face it wouldn't give her much. Getting overly emotional wasn't something that happened to Iphi often and in her mind only idiots took the route of "evil". It was a lot easier to be selfish and live your life however you wanted independent of others.

"Funny 'ow it's always the enforcers sayin' that, ey?" Retsu replied with an edge to her tone. Already she didn't like this woman. Who the fook did she think she was pretending she knew everything there was to know about her just because she had some kind of fancy quirk? This was why she hated those hero types. Always thinking that what was in their head was the truth and nothing but the truth; That they had everything all figured out. She'd let them figure out the ashes once she was done with their precious little system.

Retsu's eye narrowed when Iphi turned to face her. Now she was resorting to threats, huh? Still. Some of those addresses were under ENKI. She'd need to send an update out that they were compromised. Retsu wouldn't let her thoughts show on her face, pushing down her discomfort to reply with a cocky smile as the roller coaster began to move.

"Impressive, y’all have gotten good at always being one step behind.”


She tapped her fingers on the guardrail while they ascended before continuing just as they began to drop.

"Well, a blind man coulda' seen that bah now."

It didn't take a genius to tell what she was talking about. Operation Babel ran rampant all over Tokyo for twenty four hours with barely anyone of importance getting captured during it. When the law finally got a win elsewhere by dragging The Elementalist to court it resulted in the city being turned upside down once more. Villainy was gaining momentum and hero society was failing to keep up. The amount of resources and people they had to divert to the bay to handle whatever the weird shit going on there was -Retsu only narrowly refrained from shuddering-  had left several places more vulnerable than they usually were.

"Rekken y'll have better luck with whatever fookery gets thrown y'r way next?"

"Being born quirkless isn't an excuse to take your anger out on the world. Getting involved in gangs funneled you down a path of which there is no return." Her expression unmoving, unpertubed by Retsu's taunts "It'll get you killed. That isn't a threat. It's the reality of the situation." She looked out from the ride to see dozens of familiar faces which wasn't hard when you could remember everyone you've ever met. "Mummy, Gyrfalcon, Facade, Ishtar, Player One. All of them will eventually either fall or flee. I don't diminish your "accomplishments" due to your lack of a quirk. I lament that you chose this path; same goes for the rest of your associates."

"Unfortunately, I only have surface-level information on you. The woman assigned to your case is not merciful." Anya, or rather 'Stronghold', truly didn't believe in redemption and used her authority slightly more liberally than Iphi would have thought. The ride would hit the apex. "You might not believe it, you might not care, but there are people, regardless of how misguided, that will miss you when you're gone." And they were off! Wind picked up as it sent Iphi's hair out of control, and yet her expression didn't change. She wasn't ignorant to believe she could change Retsu, a fact that deep down made her sad—wasted potential.

"Whateva 'elps ya sleep at noite," Retsu muttered back in response to Iphigenia's first reply. She'd always found the lack of self awareness those self-righteous pricks had startling. All they did was the same violence they decried, except they didn't risk reaping the consequences. Retsu would be more than happy to dish out their share.

She let out a snort at Recall's comment on her past. 

"Ah thought heroes weren't s'possed ta gloat?" Retsu fired back with a snort at Recall's comment on her past. For all that they made fun of monologues the hero types sure did love to go on rants about why you were wrong and they were justified in putting you down. It was like their own subconscious was letting them know how full of shit they were while they desperately tried to assuage it. "But thanks fer the sympathy. How're your colleagues doing? Wait, didn't one a' 'em get put in jail recently? D'ya bust 'im out yet?" She added with a jeer that made it obvious exactly how much she knew about Gabriel's situation. Having met the flirty egotistical prick in person she'd put a lot of effort into finding out everything she could use against him. It was always useful to have stuff like that in your back pocket for when it became relevant. Case in point, right now. 

"And what the fook do you kn-" Retsu spat back just as they descended, the rest of the response lost amidst the howling wind and the screeching of iron wheels over steel rails. Her hand tightened around the restraints with a white-knuckled grip, clenched not in fear but in anger. The moment they were done being taken for a loop by this roller coaster she was gonna take Recall for a loop alright. Once the world stopped being upside down Retsu turned to face Iphigenia once more.

"Lots a' fookin' words ya used there ta distract from the fact that ya 'ad no answer to mah question. Dun' worry, ah get it. Fooks like you are much better at rantin' 'bout others than actually fixin' anythin'. Ah take mah concern back. Ya must be havin' a blast in this lil make believe world where ya ken do no wrong."

She paused momentarily, thinking about who she was dealing with as she wanted to pick her next words to apply specifically to Retsu: "Some of us live our lives for others and not for ourselves. We may falter and not always get it right, but we try. Otherwise, we'd be entirely selfish and self-serving, which is, in effect, the easier path."

She wasn't entirely surprised that Gabriel had gotten involved with the wrong side of the law and even less so that Retsu knew about it. It was something that had occurred in her world, after all. "I'm sure he has a reason for doing what he was doing. Whether that applies to me, I'm not so sure. It's a bit self-indulgent to assume my feelings on the matter surpass whatever he felt at the time." During the descent, she would look to Retsu as she ranted, able to read her lips but ultimately deciding to address none of the rampant profanity she spat.

"Oh, your question? Apologies, I thought it was rather foolhardy. We'll do what we can to strengthen our infrastructure unless you were implying that somehow we could tell the future, which is a ridiculous notion." The ride was coming to an end, and Iphi was eager to get back to her post; Sadako might have wandered off in the time she wasted here. "I would ask you the same, but it's clear from your actions that...Revenge on the world is just the path you took to escape your own suffering." She would look forward "And I feel sorry for you."

She felt sorry for her? Retsu snorted. It was a curt and brush snort, one of amusement mixed with familiarity. Recall wasn't the first to tell her something like that. Retsu had met many arrogant know-it-alls that thought they were better than her just because they were a bit older or a bit stronger. One by one they'd fallen. To feel sorry for someone was to think yourself above them, capable of reaching a hand down and solving every problem they failed at. Retsu wouldn't accept being above her.

As their cart came to a stop and the restraints opened up Retsu looked back over her shoulder to reply.

"Y'r words reek a' self-satisfaction, Recall. Dere ain't a purpose ta them but tryna force y'r own views on others. Hypocrite. Nothing but arrogance to 'em. You tryna convince me or you tryna convince y'rself? Really, y'r far more emotional than that fookin' prim and proper facade a' yours tries ta convince the world of."

Retsu wasn't gonna pay Iphigenia's speech any mind. There was nothing she had to escape and the words of some two-bit hero wouldn't convince her otherwise. Without another word she disappeared amidst the others exiting the roller coaster, just one more face in the crowd.

"Iphi is fine." She didn't keep her real identity a secret from basically anyone. Aside from Aella, there wasn't any way someone would be able to track down her family all the way in Greece, especially not without her finding out their intentions first. Besides someone like Bakiri Retsu wasn't the type to put too much thought into what she was going to do or say...that was made very clear in their brief interaction. She would step out of her seat and let Retsu go first down the ramp back to the ground level.

Listening to her give a speech in return she would stare, blankly at first and then slowly her expression would soften. Empathy was something she was still working on and in her heart she wished she could feel her emotions first rather than having the process them first. If anyone there was a way to turn off High Spec even if it was for one day...-which was probably something she'd express with Sadako later assuming she was still covering for her. "If only that were true." she would give Retsu a small wave and head back to her post. Looks like even a broken clock could be right twice a day.
