Can't Punk Luca looked puzzled at the map in the campus grounds, with it appearing more like an array of shapes and colors to his eyes than a refined method of telling where he was and where he needed to go. Maybe if he took it one step at a time, breaking down the process it would be easier for him. Rather than getting right to that, though, he took the time to curse his attention span, knowing full well that if he paid full attention during the orientation tour that he would have a better sense of direction. Now he definitely looked like a freshman, completely unaware of his surroundings. Scratching his cheek as he stared at the map, Luca traced his finger along the map to the ‘You are here’ symbol. Redundantly, it showed that he was at the center of the campus grounds, as if he didn’t know that already. Tracing the map with his fingers again, imagining himself walking down the path towards the support labs. “Oh now that makes sense!” Luca snapped his finger, happy that he made some progress. Now it was just onward to his desired destination.
After some minutes passed walking through the campus grounds and into the classroom buildings, he had finally arrived at the support department. Though he was a hero student, as a mechanic, he was fascinated by all of the latest hardware and machines that they had at their disposal to create equipment not just for heroes, but also for the everyday citizen. The stuff that they had here made the auto shop he worked at look like a chop shop. Aimlessly wandering the different open labs, one in particular caught his eye. Though it wasn’t an open plan where he could peer in, the sounds of familiar machinery called out to him, almost begging him to knock on the door.

IN THE CITY OF FOOLS, I WAS CAREFUL AND COOL [attr="class","eire"]Aneko hated metalworking. Yeah, it was a necessity when it came to engineering gear that could theoretically be used in the field, where durability and effectiveness matter most, but... holy shit was it annoying. The room was always hot, you had to wear this clunky gear just for safety, and it always felt like your materials were actively working against you. All of that, however, would be fine- she could manage it- but the noise was the cherry on top that made it an unbearable workplace for her. She would once again admit defeat as she threw her tools back into their proper place (she at least kept public spaces orderly) and threw back the protective mask so she could breathe. She needed a break. Away from the noise. Her frustrations had finally caught up to her and she was making an immediate exit, going straight for the door and swinging it open to find... a person! She hadn't become so annoyed that she was ignoring everything around her so, luckily, there was no crash. "Ehm..." She had carried so much energy during her exit that it actually felt kind of awkward now that she was stopped by such an obstacle. "Can I... help you?"Maybe it was just another student who came here to use the facilities. After all, there were so many unfamiliar faces that she ran into every day, she was beginning to question if new people were being generated each day and placed into the university. Though, with how much she keeps to herself, it becomes pretty obvious why she doesn't even know the faces of some of the people she's in the same class as; it's not like lectures promote a whole lot of interaction amongst peers. but they tore me apart like a hurricane. Can't Punk Luca was not the type to be socially awkward, with his ability to keep a conversation going and somehow endless yet random stream of consciousness preventing that from happening. But here, at this junction, for a moment his attention was absorbed by what little he could see of the support lab behind what was to him an obstacle in his path. His eyes traced the space, scanning past the young woman that stood in front of him, even smiling at all of the cool stuff he could get a glimpse of. But almost like a slap to ol’ chrome dome, his attention snapped back to the student in front of him, and he scoffed at himself, starting to laugh a little bit. “Shit.. sorry my brain just locked in on all the cool stuff you have back there for a sec.” He rubbed the back of his neck, actually having to think of a quick way to get past this bump in the road. “I uhh hope ya don’t think I was ignoring you! I’m actually not a part of the support department. I came to UA for Heroics but.. I’m a mechanic in my off time so stuff like this is really cool to me.”
Luca reaches out with his hand not for a shake but for a fist bump. “Name’s Luca, Itadori Luca. Hope I’m not being a bother but it seems like you could use either some help or some company? Mind if I rubber duck for ya?” He leans back for a moment, peering down the halls of the support labs, like he was looking out for someone. “Maybe even give me a tour later if youre cool with it?”

IN THE CITY OF FOOLS, I WAS CAREFUL AND COOL [attr="class","eire"]Aneko, on the other hand, was a very socially awkward person. Moments of prolonged silence are especially difficult as she was never good at reading the room, however, she felt like there was a pretty obvious attraction to whatever was going on behind her. It didn't linger for too long, luckily, as he was quick to apologize and introduce himself. "Ahh, I see..." It was taking her a moment to really think about what to reply with. "Right, lab access is restricted to the support department, isn't it...?" She trails off in her own thought for a moment, debating on whether or not to take him up on his offer. On one hand, he seemed like a chaotic person. Other than the amusement factor that comes from that, there was no telling what would come of it, if things would get troublesome. But on the other hand, it might be fun! Also would give her an excuse to stop working for now. "Hmm... sure, why not?" In the end, she shrugs off the dilemma and decides to just go for it. After all, if her goal is to get out of her comfort zone, she'd be failing if she said no to every situation that seemed the least bit troublesome. She reaches out, expecting a shake, and is left in the awkward moment of adjusting her hand to bump into his hesitantly. "Aneko, Ueto Aneko. C'mon in, just be careful not to... uh... hurt yourself." He said he was a mechanic, so he should know basic safety precautions, right? She turned around and left the door open for him to follow, using this time to think... what would she even do in a tour? Check out this big machine, it cuts metal just how you want it. Then this big machine also cuts the metal but, like, in a different way. "So," She breaks her own trailing thoughts with her curiosity, "You're a mechanic? Why hero studies?" Damn, ain't that potentially personal. Oh well. but they tore me apart like a hurricane. Can't Punk Luca was drowning in anticipation, his eyes firmly tracking Aneko as she mulled over what to do. It wouldn't be the end of the world if she said no, but it would be awesome if she agreed. His eyes widened as he waited for her response, and when he finally said yes he literally fist pumped. Realizing how ridiculous (or cringey) that might've looked, he chuckled and bowed his head slightly. "Sorry 'bout that! Just really happy ya didn't turn me down."
When Aneko mentioned that he should be careful, he scoffed, a slight smirk appearing on his face as he crossed his arms. With a bit of an overly sarcastic tone, he stepped inside the lab. "Whaddya take me for some kinda newbie? Cut me some slack!" Looking around, he was even more amazed at all of the stuff that was within reach for the support department. This wasn't just top of the line equipment, it was the kind of equipment that made legendary gear for super famous heroes. Just as the reality of all that was starting to hit, his new friend(?) asked the question. His arms fell to his sides, and his usual bright and cheerful face had lost some of its luster. "I grew up in the muck. No one really paid attention to my family or helped us out so we made do best we could. My little brother looks up to me, always chasing my back. I wanna give him, and all the other kids who grew up in the muck something to chase after. Sorry if it's a little sappy.."

IN THE CITY OF FOOLS, I WAS CAREFUL AND COOL [attr="class","eire"]She wasn't sure how to respond. The clear enthusiasm from him was a welcome change of pace compared to many of the burnt-out second years, pulled through the wringer of U.A.'s support course and having their childish hopes and dreams crushed by five hundred tons of reality and machinery. Though maybe it was a bit cringey- not that she was to judge, honestly. Everyone was just a little bit cringe in their own way. "Well, usually the most eager are the first to get hurt. Don't want a professor to chew me out if something happens to you."Yeah, usually these things were fine until something bad happened, and she didn't want to be the one to ruin things for others. As he began to scan over the assortment of gadgets and tools afforded to the support course, she was beginning to collect her own documents and research, storing them away in her own binder for later use. Perfect chance to dodge her responsibilities as a student, and instead lean on her responsibilities as a senpai! Man, they were great when they were convenient to her. Not so great every other time. She still shudders thinking about the orientation. But shit. She really did strike a personal nerve there! She had shrugged off the possibility early but she didn't think she really did- ah, fuck. It wasn't some kind of heartbreaking story, at least, but she was bad at handling sappy moments. Far too much delicacy had to be put forth to keep things from turning awkward. So she clears her throat, trying to find the words to say, "Ehm, well... that's really commendable! I wish I had a noble reason like that. Turns out I was just... kind of okay at making things." She hopes sincerity is not lost in her own botched execution. This was exactly what she lacked skills for, damn it! "So, a mechanic, huh?" Change the topic! The one she learned when it came to avoiding awkward situations; a change of pace often left the direction feeling anew. "You've worked with machinery like this before, then?" She notions to the high-grade equipment littering the lab. She knows it's a dumb question, he just said he didn't grow up in wealth. Fumbling all over the place. "What sort of things did you make? You didn't, uh, take me for someone who just repairs cars, I mean." That wasn't... half-bad? Maybe she should've stuck to her procrastination. At least that wasn't a social nightmare. but they tore me apart like a hurricane. Can't Punk Luca flexed his right arm and patted it with his left, all with a goofy looking grin on his face. “Oh you don’t need to worry about me! I’m super careful with delicate equipment like this.” As she was putting things away, Luca was catching as many glimpses as he could to see what she might’ve been working on. His eyes filled with the curiosity and excitement present in a child filled with wonder. He let his gloved finger run across the edges of the tables in the lab, taking note of the cleanliness of the space. With the support student’s somewhat clunky complement of his aspiration, the mechanic couldn’t help but chuckle as he took a seat in a nearby working stool, leaning on the table carefully so as not to disturb the order of the lab. “You don’t need a noble reason to do the right thing. So long as there’s love and care in your actions, no one can criticize.”
The hero student left the air dead for a moment as Aneko seemed to stumble over what to say next, her choice of pivot being commendable for someone who gave off the vibe that they doubted their social capability. As she pointed toward the high-grade equipment, Luca tilted his head a bit and squinted his eyes, making sure he wasn’t misidentifying any of the stuff that Aneko was pointing towards. Didn’t want to come off like a poser or nothin’ like that in case he didn’t know whatever stuff this fancy school had. “Ehhhh don’t think so. At least not those models. They’re worth an arm and a leg to be real with ya.” His eyes glided to the ceiling as he thought about the price of everything in here. It really was a privilege for anyone with a creative gift like theirs to even step foot in a place like this. He really wanted to be here as much as he could. “Cars and vehicles are the bigger things I’ve worked on. Smaller scale… is more like gadgets and other things like that. I know how to do really good grappling hooks! But when it comes to like the really cool stuff you all in the support department are leagues ahead of me. The best I can do to make your lives easier is just some blueprints. Like uhhh… my main gear was actually planned out by me! But… getting the whole thing together was handled by professionals.” Man, he was really starting to ramble wasn’t he?
